  • jQuery .ajax success function not rendering html with jQuery UI elements.

    How do I have the html loaded into my div from the .ajax render with jquery? the success function loads the HTML, but those elements do not show up as jQuery UI elements, just the static HTML types.   • How are vector patterns used in syntax-rules?

    Hi, I have been writing Common Lisp macros, so Scheme's R5Rs macros are a bit unnatural to me. I think I got the idea, except that I don't understand how one would use vector patterns in syntax-rules: (define-syntax mac (syntax-rules () ((mac #(a b c d)) (let () (display a) (newline) (display d) (newline))))) (expand '(mac #(1 2 3 4))) ;; Chicken's expand-full extension shows macroexpansion => (let746 () (display747 1) (newline748) (display747 4) (newline748)) I don't see how I'd use a macro that requires its arguments to be written as a vector: (mac #(1 2 3 4)) => 1 4 Is there some kind of technique that uses those patterns?   • Type patterns and generic classes in Haskell

    I'm trying to understand type patterns and generic classes in Haskell but can't seem to get it. Could someone explain it in laymen's terms? In [1] I've read that "To apply functions generically to all data types, we view data types in a uniform manner: except for basic predefined types such as Float, IO, and ?, every Haskell data type can be viewed as a labeled sum of possibly labeled products." and then Unit, :*: and :+: are mentioned. Are all data types in Haskell automatically versions of the above mentioned and if so how do I figure out how a specific data type is represented in terms of :*:, etc? The users guide for generic classes (ch. 7.16) at haskell.org doesn't mention the predefined types but shouldn't they be handled in every function if the type patterns should be exhaustive?   • asp.net custom templated datalist - throws argument out of range (index) on button press

    I have a class BaseTemplate public abstract class BaseTemplate : ITemplate This adds the controls, and provides abstract methods to implement in the inheriting class. The inheriting class then adds its html according to its data source and manages the data binding. this all works fine - I get the control appearing with properly parsed html. the problem is that the base class adds controls into the template that have their own CommandName arguments ... the idea is that the class that implements the custom templated dataList will provide the logic of setting the Selected and Edit Indexes. This class also manages the data binding etc. It sets all of the templates ont he datalist in the Init method (which was another cause of this exception). the exception gets throw when i hit one of these buttons .. but after the ItemCommand event is being processed. The stack trace does not include any references to my methods or objects which is why i am so stuck.   • MCV/MVP Patterns and Applications that interface with Hardware (DAQ/PLC/etc)

    I've been reading a lot about the MCV and MVP patterns for use with UI and it seems like a really nice powerful way to handle user interfaces. I am - however - having a difficult time deciding how this could integrate into a system where data in the model is created from a Data Acquisition System or Serial/Ethernet devices. There is also the added step that 70% of application interaction is performed by a PLC instead of a live user. It seems that for apps that just read/write & manipulate information from a database this works great, but how does does hardware and automation fit into these patterns? Is it as simple as another controller (for lack of a better term) that interacts with hardware that manipulates data and writes to a model? Maybe I am over thinking this or thinking too simply, so any advice would be great. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this, so if something doesn't make sense or I was too vague leave me a comment. Thanks!

But I am getting only last expression pattern , which means fifth expression of if condition . Here I know that it is giving only one pattern because last pattern matching in if condition.     I have the jQuery UI framework's draggable and droppable elements working. I would like to programmatically determine which draggable elements are currently dropped on which droppable elements. Is there an easy way to do this? I thought of using event listeners to detect drop and out events, then keep a dictionary or something in memory to keep track, but this seems contrived. Better ideas?

  • Why is good UI design so hard for some Developers?

    Some of us just have a hard time with the softer aspects of UI design (myself especially). Are "back-end coders" doomed to only design business logic and data layers? Is there something we can do to retrain our brain to be more effective at designing pleasing and useful presentation layers? Colleagues have recommended a few books me including The Design of Sites, Don't make me think and Why Software sucks , but I am wondering what others have done to remove their deficiencies in this area?
