• How can I optimise ext4 for reliability?

  As ext4 was introduced as more reliable than ext3 with block journals, is there any chance to suppose it 100% reliable? What if enabling block journaling on it, which is disabled by default? As friend's guide to explain my case in more detail: I have an embedded linux device, after installation keyboard and monitor is detached and it works standalone. My duty is to make sure it has reliable file-system so with errors there is no way for manual correct faults on device. I can't force my customer to use a ups with each device to ensure no fault by power-failure. What more can ext4 offer me besides block journaling? Thanks in advance.

One of my friend told me that your websites index is visible and its one step away to access the password file and he shows me that very simply using the Google search. How can i prevent this and i am hosting my site with a hosting company and i report about this to them but they simply replied to me still its secure so you no need to worry... am i really don need to worry and continue my site with the visible index of admin page?

  SOA Administration Book I have just received a copy of the “Oracle SOA Suite 11g Administrator's Handbook” so as soon as I have read it I will let you know what I think.  In the meantime the first thing that struck me was the author credentials, although I have never met either of them as I remember, I have read Admeds blog postings and they are a great community resource, so immediately I am well disposed towards the book.  Similarly Arun is an employee of my friend and co-author Matt Wright, and I have heard good things about him from Rubicon Red people. A first glance at the table of contents looks encouraging, I particularly like their approach to performance tuning where they give a clear concise explanation of the knobs they are using. I have a tower that was running Windows XP from a friend, and want to load Ubuntu onto it. The boot options are Network Boot, Floppy, CD-ROM, Hard Drive. No USB option. Phoenix - AwardBios Core Version V6.0, BIOS Revision 3.11 5/17/2004 256 mb pc2700 I have my desktop running Ubuntu, but need to know how to get Ubuntu onto that tower. • Problems with EmusicJ on Ubuntu 14.04

  I am running Ubuntu 14.04 in my new machine and have a subscription to emusic (because I used it before in my Windows days because of the great selection of classical music). I have used it on my old machine (running older versions of Ubuntu) with some success but am having difficulties doing so now. I am trying to use EmusicJ but do not/cannot remember how to do so. I have downloaded the program and unzipped it and ran the following command in a terminal: ./emusic If I remember correctly, once I go to the emusic site and download my music, the EmucisJ program should open and begin downloading the music through that program but this time it is not and I have already wiped my old box in order to give it to a friend. Any help is appreciated as I would like to continue with Emusic, but if I cannot get this resolved I will likely have to cancel my subscription and find a better alternative. Thanks.

• How do I share different files in a git repo with different people?

  In a single directory with a Git root folder, I have a bunch of files. I am working on one of those files, X.py, with my friend Alice. The other files I am working on with other people. I want Alice (and everyone else) to have access to X.py. I want Alice to only have access to X.py though. How can I achieve this with Git? Is there a way I can split a directory into two repos? That sounds rather cumbersome. Maybe I could add a remote repo that Alice can access containing X.py?

• Victory rewards in digital CCG

  I am currently polishing a digital CCG where people can play against friend and random opponents in a classical Magic the Gathering-like duel CCG. I plan to award the players with 20 ingame currency units (lets call them gold) for each hour they are playing, 50 for each day they are playing and X for each victory. Now, the X is what I am trying to calculate here, since I would prefer keeping the currency to a certain value, but also with to entice the players to battle. I could go with a solid figure, say 25, for beating up an opponent. But that would result in experienced players only beating up newly started players, making the experience lame for both. I could also make a laddered tier, where you start at level 1, and raise in level as you defeat your opponents, where winning over a player awards you his level x 2 in gold. Which would you prefer if you were playing a game like this. There is no gold-based scoreboard, but the gold is used to purchase new cards along the way.

• How to restore GRUB without re-installing the OS?

  A friend of mine has a Packard Bell laptop that came with Windows pre-installed. I installed Ubuntu on it and it works fine, but everytime she tried to boot Windows on it (fortunately rarely) it fails and the computer is unable to boot any OS anymore. Upon boot, the computer stops on a black screen with a GRUB Rescue prompt. Is there any way to restore GRUB without re-installing Ubuntu? (preferably an easy way as I cannot do it for her and she is not extremely computer literate) Also (but less important), is there a way to configure GRUB (or something else) so that Windows won't destroy it on every boot attempt?

  I'm writing a program that lets a user perform a Google search. When the result comes back, all of the links in the search results are links not to other sites but to Google, and if the user clicks on one, the page is fetched not from the other site but from Google. Can anyone explain how to fix this problem? • Installing wireless drivers without internet access [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How can I install and download drivers without internet? (This is related to my other question; my approach there didn't work.) My friend has (I'm quite sure) a Broadcom wireless chipset. However, he doesn't have any wired internet access on the machine, so his only option is to boot into Windows (he is using Wubi) and download packages there. This means we can't use the Hardware Drivers dialog to install the drivers. He can't fetch the repository information, so the Broadcom driver packages aren't showing up in Synaptic. Is there any way to get Wi-Fi working?

  I know that it may look pretty stupid, but that's it. I have a ethernet connection with my mom's computer, and is her's who's the source or anyway it is called. I'm new at linux, but i had before linux mint 13 and the ethernet didn't work 'till a friend went to network settings-options he clicked "add" somewhere and and introduced some numbers, after he looked somewhere in my mom's computer. I've tried neither linux nor ethernet until now. Please help and sorry for my english. P.S. The game will have a small map with mostly characters, not buildings (think of DotA or League of Legends). If you just go to domain.com, you get redirected to google, to access the real site you go to domain.com:31337. He is going to change it again and he is challenging me to find out which port it is.   A friend of mine and I are planning a game together to work on in our free time. It's not an extensive game, but it's not a simple one either. He's working on the story behind the game while I'm working on the graphics and code. I don't really know where to start with the game. We know what the basic type of game it's going to be and how it would be played, but I'm having a hard time of actually knowing where to begin. I have Xcode open but I don't really even know what I should be designing first. What is some advice for this writer's block? Where is a good place to start with a game? That it is a long time associate and friend of the team we have all grown to know and love, I feel much better about the move. Who cares, Chris, you haven't blogged religiously in ages! • Install wont boot up, stuck on loading text dots / restarts

  Friend gave me her laptop, we agreed on Ubuntu, but I have troubles even booting up live version (see the notebook). I tried 12.04 64bit on USB stick, it does nothing, when I choose booting live version, it just restarts PC. Then I tried 32bit version, it starts loading, but its stuck on loading components, printing on black screen just dots ........... I Googled it, found similar problem - somebody suggested to use older version and then upgrade it. I went through 11.04, 10.04 - 64 and 32 same result. Restart or infinite loading. I did memtest, it showed 4 errors, Windows Vista is running "fine", no "bluescreens" etc. Any ideas what am I doing wrong?

  It's a bit subjective but helpful and on-topic IMO, mayebe should be made community wiki I've been in contact with some guest bloggers lately which are interested in publishing posts on my website's blog, so far I've done a regular weekly blog and had a guy marketing it, but he's too busy to do more work right now. Now I need someone to market these blog posts on social media, the last guy I just got by recommendation from a friend, but now I need to find one myself. What criteria should I check when it comes to social media marketers? Do the number of followers and fans on their accounts and/or the number of votes they get for articles they market mean anything, or is impossible to know if it's spam?
