• linux firefox flash debug: i don't get alerts when errors occur

  Hello. I use firefox 3.6.13 on linux gentoo amd64 and flash 10.2 debug version, i also have firebug flashbug and flashfirebug installed. my problem is that whenever I run a flash application that encounters an error, the browser does not open an alert window. it makes it more difficult to debug applications because i need to make sure that the firebug window is always opened. the only way i can see the error is if i open the flash tab in firebug. is there a way to change this behavior ? i checked .xsession-errors and tried running firefox from console: these are the only errors the i see in the log and these errors do not appear when the flash app encounters an error which means they are not related: Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module": libcanberra-gtk-module.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "gnomebreakpad": libgnomebreakpad.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory thanks

• Flash movie randomly freeze the browser

  Just recently it seems that my flash player have had some troubles to display flash videos (youtube/dailymotions and others like this). This issue was supposed to be fixed with Flash Player 10 beta if I remember correctly. My flash player is currently at the lastest version available (10.0.45.2) I'm currently on Windows 7 x64. I tried to uninstall it and reboot and reinstall it, didn't work. Sometimes when it freeze and I reboot it "fixes" temporary the problem. The freeze problem is each and every browser. If one fails and freeze, every browsers using the plugin or ActiveX (Opera 10.5/Chrome 5/Safari 4/IE 8/FF 3.7 all installed) will freeze upon playing. I'm quite out of inspirations for fixing this up now I dare say.

• HID USB Very Strange Problem...

  I realy hope some one can help me here cause i search all over the web and nothing comes up.. I allways used PS/2 KB and Mouse and a USB KeyPad (Genius ErgoMedia 500 Gaming Explorer) to play some games, mmorpg, fps, you named, very good whit 11 keys whit possible macros etc etc... Now it comes the problem, i have a USB mouse that have 4 extra buttons, and i need more button, i love buttons.. Well, i plug in the USB mouse and disconectes de PS/2. Everything is ok until i toutch the mouse. If i do so, the ErgoMedia goes off, then on, then i mouse the mouse or press a button and all over again. Yesterday i went buying a new mouse that i liked, a USB mouse too (NPlay whit macros and all that stuff 3600dpi...) Hoping the problem was only whit the other mouse, but no.. It does the exact same thing, ErgoMedia keeps disconecting and conecting everytime i toutch the mouse. What i allready did: Update drivers of both mouses Update drivers of ErgoMedia (no specific drivers(Windows based)) Update drivers of MB Chipset (Actualy no, cause it was up to date allready) Trying other USB Ports (4 Ports back, 4 Ports Front and even 1 Port in 16 card slot device) Disable the "Allows Windows to shut down the energy bla bla" thing in Device Setings. Look up in the Device Setings only apear a problem on the ergomedia (Human interface Device) when i move the damm mouse.. Using Everest to read behavier, everything normal, exepts the disconecting thing, but no errors. Not a power suply, only the ErgoMedia and the mouse are in the USBs, and i allready disable the 16 card reader whit one usb slot to see.. Clean the IRQ registry. Look the entire internet for a fix solution. Help others problems wile looking for a fix for me (Im not a pro but not a completly stupid) Talking to you beggin you to help me as a last resorce... Machine: Acer M3641 Core2Quad 64x Based OS Vista 64b 4GbRAM HD Audio and Graphics I realy hope some one out there knows a fix for this, maybe it´s a simple thing, so simple that i´m to stupid to see that.. • Can someone recommend a Compact Flash card to be used as a boot disk

  I have an early Acer Aspire One netbook, and the flash drive is really slow at writing. I've taken it apart to add more RAM, but I've pretty much stopped using it. I've read about people replacing the SSD with a Compact Flash card and a CF to ZIF adapter but I've also read about some Compact Flash cards where the manufacturer has permanently disabled the boot flag to stop people doing this kind of mod. (Can't find the link any more though). So my most specific question is: can someone recommend a compact flash card that does allow the boot flag to be set? Please say whether you've done it yourself, or just heard about it from someone else. Beyond that, is this generally a problem?

• Custom flash uploader breaks only on Media Temple

  I've built a flash uploader to upload files up to 100MB using a php backend. It works wonderfully on our dev server, on a hostgator vps, and on one of our clients' servers running Debian. It will not work on our Media Temple (dv)3.5 and I don't know why. The upload will start but will choke after a few seconds with this flash error message: ioerror: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2038: File I/O Error. URL: http://..._upload.php"] The problem seems to be specific to the asynchronous nature of the flash uploader because if I try a straight php upload it works fine. The php.ini settings are set to allow such a large upload as well. Also, I've thoroughly googled flash, 2038, I/O error, etc but have yet to find anything that helped. Here's the weird part though: We work in Seattle. It won't work from the office. It won't work from home. But, while on the phone with MT's support, they were able to upload a file through our flash uploader just fine. I'm not sure where his office was located but I think it was Atlanta. So the problem also seems specific to physical location. Has anyone run into this sort of problem before?

Normally, the plugin saves its buffered content in the default temporary folder of the operating system. However, I do not want to move that folder. In other words, I only need to change the folder which flash uses. My operating system is Windows 7 64-bit. I am using the latest version of the flash plugin.

• Nexus One USB freezes Vista SP2 Quad Core

  My Nexus One (N1) will occasionally freeze my Vista 32bit SP2 Quad Core 2.4GHz during POST. MB is ASUS P5N-E SLI with 4GB of RAM. The PC will be booting and when I connect the N1 via USB, the boot sequence will freeze, then continue once I unplug the N1 USB link. It happens whether the N1 is in USB debugging mode and when it is not. I'm not sure whether this is an N1 hw/fw issue, system interaction with my PC, or a result of my N1 development environment (I'm using the Eclipse Galileo IDE for Java Developers, primarily compiling to API Level 7. Eclipse has also occasionally frozen although I haven't established N1 USB cause-and-effect on that issue). Is anyone else experiencing these symptom?

I always thought that was just bluster excusing Apple's exclusion of Flash support from their mobile devices. But now I see that Adobe acknowledges that Flash is a pig. Why is it a pig? Are there bad programming approaches (that can be explained in layman's terms) that make it so power-hungry?

• None of usb-controllers are working after a crash

  So I have a GA-p35-DS4 mboard with a Q6600, running windows7-x64. After a random crash with a bluescreen (not caused by anything particular as I recall), none of the usb-controllers are working. (And none of the devices connected to those usb ports). All the controllers are showed up in the device manager, but every one has a warning-icon (as they are not functioning properly). The windows identifies them correctly, it shows exactly the model of each controller, and it says that the driver is installed. Now, when I try to reinstall the driver (Update driver menu item in the device manager), it tries to find it, finds the driver, but quits saying that the driver was found but could not be installed. Additionally, it displays "This operation requires an interactive window station", whatever that means... Now get this, the same thing happens with a new pci-usb controller card! It is found (actually each time the machine starts, it is found as new hardware), but trying to install drivers leads nowhere, I am getting the same message about an interactive window station. (tried to install drivers from the acoompanying CD) I have tried deleting those devices from device manager and let windows find them again, but that leads to same results. None of the ports on this extension card work either. This should not be a hardware problem, a usb keyboard connected to the builtin usb controller works in bios, and even in another OS running the same computer (old xp installation) What to do? Will I have to reinstall? Can deleting infcache.1 help? Is there some way to let windows remove all old drivers and try to find all hardware again, this time only looking for drivers on a windows install disk or something?

• Short USB cables not charging?

  I find this a strange problem but I can't find anything online about it. Recently I purchased a few short USB cables (20-30cm), to use in my car's USB connector to charge my phone. Strangely an older longer USB cable (1.2m), charges the phone fine (and the icon changes to show charging). With any of the short cables in the same USB slot no charging happens. Both the long and the short cables are USB2 compatible. I naturally assumed the short cables were faulty but connecting them to a PC or connecting to a high capacity external battery charging is successful using all the short cables and longer cables. Hopefully someone here is able to give me an explanation of the problem and how I can overcome this and use a short cable where it is most appropriate. Thanks

  I want to setup some brand new servers with RHEL 6.4. Servers do not have DVD, so, I have to use USB for the installation. I already have a custom ISO with a kickstart file that I use on servers with DVD flawlessly. I used iso2usb to move the ISO t? my USB. When I boot from the USB, the ks file is found, anaconda starts, but then stops with the following error: "The installation source given by device ['sda1'] could not be found. Please check your parameters and try again" Notes: The USB IS the sda. My custom ISO file is renamed to linux.iso from iso2usb and it is present in the root directory of the USB.   Hi, i need to do a presentation dvd of my photos, so i would like to make a nice flash gallery with my photos embedded inside flash files, so there is no way of stealing my shoots just browsing dvd folders. Inside a dvd i'll have plenty of space so i don't care about the size of the flash file itself. There is any way to do that? Because as far as i see, all the flash galleries uses an XML file to load the images from outside, so all the shoots are jpeg put in another folder, and anyone can take them just copying the folder.

• Internet Connection not working - USB LAN connection - from particular modem

  I am trying to fix Internet connection on a friends Dell inspiron 1720 with XP service pack 3. It has an integrated network card that stopped working, after powering down/up the modem still didnt work I brought it back to my place to try a few things ie check cable, update driver etc... still didnt work. So I bought a USB LAN connector. It didnt work straight away but I went to configure the properties and changed the ConnectionType from AutoSense to 100 BaseT 10BaseT Full_Duplex, I basically just tried them all. From my place when connected to my desktop - 10 BaseT and 10BaseT Full_Duplex worked. From my place When connected to their laptop - 10 BaseT and 10BaseT Full_Duplex worked. Happy I went back to my friends house confident it would all work, and it didnt. Brought it back to mine and it did. While there, in Network Connections the connection is there recognized, enabled, 'working properly' it just says not connected. Also there is no led on the USB connector While at mine as above except there is an led on the USB connector and it says connected. Other difference I can think of is they have a cable modem, I'm plugged into the back of a Belkin wireless router - would this make a difference? Any other ideas what to try? (Would getting the model of the cable modem help anyone?) The USB connector is "DM9601 USB to Fast Ethernet"

  I use a set of external USB speakers at the office which have no power-source other than my laptop USB port. Sometimes they're silent, and at others it sounds like an electric moth is fluttering around inside one of the speakers (the main speaker). This doesn't happen when my machine is doing any heavy crunching, it just comes and goes. This has happened with other USB speakers on other laptops too in my experience. • USB drivers installed twice

  Hello, I have a problem with usb drivers on Windows 7 64bit When I start up my laptop, the mouse I have plugged into a usb port does not work. I have to open the device manager, where there are two "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" entries. One is marked as faulty (yellow triangle). I uninstall this. Scan for changes. Then it re-appears, but not marked as faulty. And the mouse works. I have to do this every time I reboot. A colleague has the same problem. Both DELL laptops, but different models. I've tried uninstalling all USB controllers, but after a reboot, they are all reinstalled with the faulty entry. This only started happening in the last few weeks. Any help appreciated.   [Running Win7 Ultimate 64 bit] My new HP Pavilion Elite HPE-450t has been plagued by BSDO crashes since I got it about 5 weeks ago. The crashes are somewhat rare, sometimes not occurring for 3 or 4 days. • SATA Blu-Ray drive not detected via USB adapter

  I'm using an SATA blu-ray drive (Lite-On IHOS104), connected via a USB adapter to my Windows 7 (32-bit) notebook. The first time I plugged the adapter in, it worked perfectly. The drive appeared in Explorer, and my player software was able to play an encrypted Blu-Ray disc just fine. After the first reboot, it never worked again. Now it shows up as "removable media" with a size of 0 bytes, irregardless of whether a disk is inserted or not. The drive does not show up under the green "eject USB device" icon in the taskbar. The adapter is powered using a separate power adapter. I have tried: disconnecting all other USB devices testing with a DVD instead of a Blu-Ray disc letting Windows search for updated drivers for the drive - there are none using the same drive and adapter on another Win7 (but x64) computer. They work perfectly. using other USB ports on the same notebook - tried them all. using a different SATA/USB-adapter What else can I do to diagnose this problem?

• Logitech USB headphones detected and selected in Debian Squeeze but sound still coming from speakers

  I have a pair of Logitech wireless USB headphones that work with Ubuntu Natty but aren't working in Debian Squeeze. When they are selected as the default audio output, the sound comes out of the speakers instead of the headphones. I have rebooted and tried using a different USB port. Then I change it to "Output: ALSA Audio output" and a Device menu appears. I select the headphones. When I then save the prefs, the audio switch to the headphones! But here's what's weird: I go back to prefs, change it to "Output: Default" and the headphones keep working. Maybe the ALSA option is actually what is being chosen as the "Default" option, but the Device menu (whose selection is still being used) is still set to the headphones. Anyway, now I need to figure out how to make it work as the default for the whole system.

• Targus USB-to-RS232 not working with Linux?

  I have the Targus PA088 USB to RS232 converter, but it seems that it does not work with linux. Its RX and TX lights are flashing, but I can't see the data in minicom/picocom. When using it with Windows and hterm, everything's fine. Any idea what could be the problem?   I have an USB printer, that was discovered and installed properly. At some point, I suppressed it in the printer view of the config panel. If I try to add a new local printer, it says : Only use this option if you don't have an USP printer ( Windows automatically installs USB printer). How can I make windows automatically reinstall the USB printer I accidentally suppressed ? Edit : It is a dell all-in-one 920 printer, and I just tried to download and reinstall dell software.
