  Im trying to set up a simple mp3 player: <script language="javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('a.media').media( { width: 300, height: 20 } ); }); </script> and then <a class="media" href="piano.mp3">piano</a> But i get the following error: Failed to load resource I have followed the tutorial at http://jquery.malsup.com/media/audio.html, and if i click to view source and clikc on piano.mp3 chrome opens up its built in media player and plays the song, so the link and location is correct... Anyone got a clue?

• Multiple stylesheets for a Lightbox clone.

  Hey! I have a Lightbox clone (colorbox), which works fine and has no real issues. What I would like is an extra arguement that would say: [pseudocode] if (linksRel == "lightbox1") { add stylesheet1 to this lightbox } else { add stylesheet2 to this lightbox } [/pseudocode] Currently, I have a page with a "colorbox.css" file attached and the" jquery.colorbox.js" file as well - But I want the JS file to import the required CSS dependant on what link was clicked... Urgh, does that make sense? Does anyone have any ideas? I'm stumped!

  Hi, I've had my first nightmare client recently who was messing me around with payment for a project. So... I've come to an agreement with another client to use some of the sites scripting to build a site for them. But, now the original client wants their site too. I have made a deal to licence the reused parts of the site (some jQuery scripts and a dynamic flash gallery) rather than me signing over full copyright. However, I haven't got a clue how to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction to read up on this? Thanks

• Fetching content from Website on another Server

  Hi everyone. What i basically want to do is to get content from a website and load it into a div of another website. This should be no problem so far. The problem is, that the content that should be fetched is located on a different server and i have no source access to it. I'd prefer a solution using JavaScript of jQuery. Can i use a .htacces redirect to fetch the content from a remote server with client-side (js) techniques? I will also go with other solutions though. Thanks a lot in advance!

  I am able to use jquery toenable/disable radiobuttonlist based on the checkbox value. But the problem is that I want to disable radiobuttonlist at the first time. Then toggle its enable/disable by checkbox later. So I have But after I add: Enabled = "false" to my radiobuttonlist, the toggle of checkbox does not work. • Fade out/in sperate divs with button click

  I saw a flash website and was curious to now if this is something possible to build using Jquery, obviously not the entire thing. I was more looking to fade out div1 and div2 with a button click. This is the example site: www.justinfarrellyconstruction.com Example: If i come to the homepage and click the portfolio button the Gallery Div will fade out then fade in another image. At the same time the Text div will fade out its content and load the portfolio text. My apologies if this does not make sense, this is all quite new to me and im trying got learn.

  I would like to code an HTML table with messages like this: The table will contain messages that will spread over first N columns (N may change). Lets call these N columns, the message area. Each message is located on X contiguous cells in the message area. X may also change. Each message has a name that contains words separated with underscores. How would you recommend to code this table in Javascript/jQuery such that: It would be easy to define a message (start cell, end cell, color, name) The name will break only after underscores (rather than in the middle of the word)

• Loading an XML file with todays date in the filename... need to fallback to old file if one with tod

  So here is my question. Using javascript/jQuery I am currently loading in an XML file that has a file name such as carousel_large_2010-06-08.xml.. the way I am doing it is checked for todays date then grabbing a file that has that date in the filename... the issue is sometimes they wont be uploading a new file for a given day so it needs to fallback to a older date that exists.. Wondering how to do it? • ajax Post data missing with tinyMCE on Firefox

  I have a problem with my form when I try to submit with ajax. I am using Malsup Form plugin for Jquery but also using tinyMCE editor. When I submit the form and check the $_POST array, there is no data from the textarea. I have tried to use the triggerSave() function but to no avail. • Can't set element ID in JavaScript, it's always undefined

  Hi, I want to have a function that generates ID's on the fly for a given jquery object, if it doesn't have one already. These ID's should then be used in future requests. I came up with the code below, but it doesn't work. The ID's are never set. The commented out alert statement below always return undefined. I always pass code like $(this) or $(options.el) as a parameter to substitute 'el'. Initially, the elements do not have explicitly ID set in HTML. • Form action with #hashtag not working in internet explorer

  I am using jquery-ui tabs and I've set it up to select the correct tab depending on the #hash from the requested URL. I have a form which performs a search, and each tab present the result from different providers. so if the form is submitting to the action "/myAction#tab1", when the results load, the corresponding tab gets selected. This works perfectly in every browser except for IE. When my form is submitted, it loses somehow the #hash which describes which tab to select. Is that yet another a bug from IE, or am I doing something wrong? I could not find much information about this, but I can hardly believe that this is not a common problem.

• How can I use javascript to convert relative href attributes into absolute paths?

  I have a template that gets screenscraped from an outside vendor and need to include absolute paths in the navigation so the externally hosted content will properly link back to our site. Right now the page/template is driven by a global menu app written by our back end development staff... so anyone who updates our site goes in and changes the menus and their paths... Right now all of the links are linking to relative paths back to the root. For example <a href="/">Home</a> <a href="/news/">News</a> <a href="/media/">Media</a> <a href="/other/">Other</a> I need a simple way (preferably with jquery) to prepend "http://www.domain.com" to each of those links.

• Creating a Better Tabbed Interface in Django

  I've been trying to create a tabbed interface using Django. The current effort (which works fine) is having each template have the header hard-coded in, with the selected tab given the "selected" CSS attribute. Of course, this is a massive violation of DRY and I'm looking to remedy it. My current idea is adding a jQuery script to the page that looks at all the tabs and sets one to "selected" if it's text matches the beginning of the title for the page. Is there a better way to do this without using JavaScript and just pure CSS?

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to load the maptype into the google.maps.MapTypeId which is frustrating. • How can I implement lazy loading on a page with 500+ images?

  I basically have a booking engine unit results page which must show 40 units and per each unit there's 1 large image of the first thumbnail and an X number of accompanying thumbnail images. I've been using the jquery lazy load plugin, but it's not thorough enough ( I'm invoking it on DOM Ready ), plus it doesn't really work in IE ( 50% of the clients use IE so it's a big issue ). What I think I really need to do is not really spit out the image but a fake element such as a span, and possibly modify my code such that if the user views the span, render it into an image element. <span src="/images/foo.gif"> The booking engine relies on JS so I think I might be forced to just rely on ajaxifying all the thumbnails and have event handlers on window scroll, etc in order for the page to be "usable" and load at an average time ( 2-3 seconds instead of 5-30s on high speed DSL/Cable ). I'd appreciate any examples or ideas.

  Hi, I have some sort of a design problem with my Django AJAX application. I have a template where I initialize js variable from django context variable like so: var test = "{{ test }}"; This variable is than used in a number of js functions that are needed for interface to work properly. So now I'm trying to reuse some content from this page in another page that loads it dynamically on some user interaction using jQuery.load(..), and I don't see any way how I can initialize that variable, so js functions don't work now. Is there any solution for this or may be I'm doing it wrong? Thanks.

• Help with IE bugs when writing JSON via an ASPX response

  I have an ASPX page that I am using to write JSON. It works great in Firefox and Chrome, but when I try and use it in IE 8 it gives me an "The XML page cannot be displayed" error instead of allowing jQuery to load the JSON being written by the response. Any ideas?   Hi, I'm starting to digg some rails plugins to create modal forms in rails. Almost all documents that you find are too old (2006,2007) or more focused in php. I would like to create a "feedback" tab that when you click on that, it opens a form. For example, you can check the railscast website, http://railscasts.com/. Ryan Bates made it in his website, but didnt make any screencast about it. any idea/tip about a rails plugin to work with jquery and to do those forms?

• Find a control by String from asp.net Web service

  Well since it seems relatively difficult to send the object of a WebControl over JSON using jquery.ajax() I've decided to send the name of the control as a string because I know how to do that. Then I promptly realized that, from a web service, I don't actually know how to search for a control by ID name. Since its a service I can't seem to get Control.FindControl() to work so does anyone have ideas or suggestions? All I'm trying to do is call a databind() on my radcombobox. Thanks in advance! For any of you that knows anything about asp.net/rad controls - I'm basically updating a database and want the radcombobox to be in sync with that database again after adding something, before I autoselect what was just added. Other than databind do i have to call anything to refresh that list? Thanks again!

  I've seen a few questions like this, but mine is a bit more specific so I hope this isn't considered a repost. I am working on a website that is built with struts 2 and hibernate. I need to dynamically populate a drop down menu using data from a sql query based on an option selected in another drop down menu. So basically when the first option is selected I need to rehit the server and get the results from a query like SELECT column FROM table WHERE option = dropDownOption On top of that, I would really like to use ajax to only refresh the affected elements, however I'm really unfamiliar with ajax. I have jquery on this project and I found they have some ajax built in, but is this a good method for using it? any advice on this topic would be appreciated.

  I'm using $.post to send a query to a JSP which returns some awesome data for me. • How to load the whole content of a page into another window?

  I'm building a Dashboard and for some stupid reasons my boss wants to load it in a frame on the homepage (yes a frame, he still lives in the 1990s). Anyway, sometimes the dashboard needs some room so that it can show all charts correctly, so I want to add a feature to load the content of the dashboard into a new window. The problem is that, if the user has had some interaction with the dashboard, it will contain modal dialogs, new images, etc... so I want to load all the dashboard content into a new window without reloading its content. Of course, the user should be able to continue browsing the dashboard without problems. How can I do that? I'm using jQuery as my JavaScript framework.

I have an online web app where I can drag and drop annotations (arrows, stars) on top of an image that sits on a DIV. Here's some things to know. 1) The image can be any size (sometimes big sometimes small) 2) The DIV of wrapper can be left aligned or centered 3) The DIV of wrapper can be fixed or auto So is there any possible solution to make it so positions of annotations are always relative to the top left corner of the image?
