• Syncronise Server Seconds with JS Clients

  I would like to drive a setTimeout loop based on the time of the server, seconds only. So when the seconds on the server is 30, some function is run on all clients. It is vital that they do not become totally out of sync with the server, as there will be a CRON job running on the server every, say, 45 seconds which is important to the system functioning correctly. It is ok if a client is out by a few seconds with the server, client do not need to be synced to each other. I am using Jquery library. Hope this makes sense!

  Hi all, I have been working on a shopping cart that the user can add/remove order items as they please and am returning an updated sub-total via a webservice using jQuery $.ajax Here is how I am calling the webservice and setting the sub-total with the response. //perform the ajax call $.ajax({ url: p, data: '{' + s + '}', success: function(sTotal) { //order was updated: set span to new sub-total $("#cartRow" + orderID).find(".subTotal").text(sTotal); }, failure: function() { //if the orer was not saved //console.log('Error: Order not deleted'); } }); The response I am getting seems perfectly fine: {"d":"128.00"} When I display the total on the page it displays as 128 rather than 128.00 I am fully sure it is something very simple and silly but I am so deep into it now I need someone with a fresh brain to help me out!! • Checking validation errors in XMLHttpRequest

  $.post(actionUrl, serializedForm, function(response) { ... } I need to check whether validation of form succeeded, or not (I don't need to know the exact validation errors). The validation is done by Spring, and I wouldn't like to interfere the process, because there's some annoying dependencies. What would be the best approach? Is there a Spring error object in response, or is it accessible only in server side? I would also like to know if there's is any proper documentation about response in jQuery site? How can I traverse or manipulate it?

• How do I submit a form from another page?

  I have a two page site. Each page contains a header with "tabs" at the top, to navigate between page 1 and 2. When a tab is selected, I need the selected page to re-POST to the server, to quickly refresh before it is displayed. I have a form on each page that allows a manual refresh from that page but need to submit that form from the other page. For example, page 2 is displayed. The tab for page 1 is selected (which is on page 2) It should then submit the refresh form on page 1. Any help is appreciated. (Using jQuery, js, html and CSS)

• Fetch and load a whole page with AJAX

  I realize that it's generally not a good idea to do this but the reason why I want to is because it's a really heavy page and I want to show the user progress of the download and when it's done load the page. I can either do this with some kind of spinner but is it possible for me to show the actual progress? Can I see how much and what data has been downloaded? Let's say I use jQuery for the AJAX-request how do I do this? If you have other suggestions please feel free to suggest.

• Changing overflow from div dynamically [closed]

  Hello comunnity! I am filling a div using JQuery. This div has the CSS property 'overflow' set to 'auto' (to display scrollbars because the div has a lot of HTML inside). But the DIV doesn't display the scrollbars. I think that the problem is that I'm setting the CSS property using CSS and the DIV is filling dynamically. How can I do to display scrollbars if the HTML inside the DIV doesn't fit, but dynamically? I'm trying to set the property manually after fill the div, but didn't work: function createWB(tag){ // Fill the div // ... // Set the scrollbars $('.tab_content').css('overflow','auto'); } If a set the property to 'scroll', the scrollbars appear, but disabled. • Is there a script that can dynamically list the contents of a folder?

  I am redesigning my company's intranet site in Wordpress and one of the things they need is an archive of company memos. There are over 300 memos saved in one location and I'm wondering if there is a jQuery script that I can run that will read the contents of a local (network) folder and auto-generate a list of the contents of that folder dynamically (and generate those names as a hyperlink to that file, but if I can list the files, I can get include the hyperlink tag myself). I can always manually create the list of hyperlinks (would take a couple days to do so) but if I can generate it dynamically, whenever a new memo is added, the script will automatically include it making the site much easier to maintain. Is this at all possible? I know that this can probably be done in PHP, but the page I need to do this on is not a php page, it is one of the subpages that is created in wordpress that does not have a php file extension and can't run php code (that I know of) Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

• prevent form from automatically re-submitting on page load

  I am using jQuery to point a form's target to an iframe on .submit(). This is to upload a file. It works fine, but when the page reloads, and the iframe is appended to the DOM, the iframe automatically resubmits the form, causing the same file to be sent to the server on each page load. If I do not include the iframe in the HTML markup, or do not append it to the DOM, this doesn't happen, but of course, I need the iFrame. So my question is, how can i prevent this? :) Andrew

  I have an arrow on my site that I'd like if onclick, it hides one element, and shows another. Hitting it again, will hide the element that was shown and show the element that was hidden. Is that possible to do without jQuery? • How to load the whole content of a page into another window?

  I'm building a Dashboard and for some stupid reasons my boss wants to load it in a frame on the homepage (yes a frame, he still lives in the 1990s). Anyway, sometimes the dashboard needs some room so that it can show all charts correctly, so I want to add a feature to load the content of the dashboard into a new window. The problem is that, if the user has had some interaction with the dashboard, it will contain modal dialogs, new images, etc... so I want to load all the dashboard content into a new window without reloading its content. Of course, the user should be able to continue browsing the dashboard without problems. How can I do that? I'm using jQuery as my JavaScript framework.

  Hi guys, I'm currently doing a highlighting function on a webpage and im using the jquery plugin for that. My code looks like this: var input = function() { var matchword = $('#searchbox').val(); if(matchword != "") { $('body').removeHighlight(); $('body').highlight($('#searchbox').val()); } } $(document).ready(function() { $('#searchbox').keyup(function() { setTimeout("input()", 2000); }); }); It works fine if there is not so large amount of data on the page. But in case of large amount of data on the page the whole process is slowing down which causes that inputbox is freezing untill the letter is hightlighted. So the typing is not smooth. I tryed to use a setTimeout but it seems doesnt help. Any ideas?

• How do I setup a shared session between two users on my Ruby on Rails powered site?

  Hey guys, The website that I'm building includes a section where two users can interact. I think I know how to do most of it, except the actual session sharing part. I'm using Ruby on Rails & Javascript (jquery), and I've got user login and session management all working okay. Would the best way to create a shared session be to have a SharedSession model, with accompanying database table, with participant1ID, participant2ID etc? Is there a better way? Something like below... except ajax... myclass::myfunction(); I've been using the jquery library to work with AJAX. $.get('control.php', {func: funcName, arg1: arg1}); The above is similar to what I'm trying to achieve MINUS the control.php; I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I just thought it would be nice to skip the landing page (control.php) that recieves the funcName. I have a bunch of conditional statements that sort out what class function to run based on the funcName recieved. It seems kind of silly to do this, to have a separate page just to handle function calls. Is there a better way?

Now on Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. It all works as expected. However, on my iPhone the actions will not trigger. Now my question is are their any specific ways I can have the Mouse-Over essentially be fired when I hold my finger down and trigger an event? • How can I convince IE to simply display application/json rather than offer to download it?

  While debugging jQuery apps that use AJAX, I often have the need to see the json that is being returned by the service to the browser. So I'll drop the URL for the JSON data into the address bar. This is nice with ASPNET because in the event of a coding error, I Can see the ASPNET diagostic in the browser: But when the server-side code works correctly and actually returns JSON, IE prompts me to download it, so I can't see the response. Can I get IE to NOT do that, in other words, to just display it as if it were plain text? I know I could do this if I set the Content-Type header to be text/plain. But this is specifically an the context of an ASPNET MVC app, which sets the response automagically when I use JsonResult on one of my action methods. Also I kinda want to keep the appropriate content-type, and not change it just to support debugging efforts.
