  • ASP.NET MVC2: Client-side validation not working with Start.js

    Ok, this is strange. I would hope it's something I'm doing wrong and not that MS has two technologies that simply don't work together. (UPDATE: See bottom of post for Script tag order in HEAD section) I'm trying to use the dataView template and client-side validation. If I include a reference to: <script src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/beta/0911/Start.js" type="text/javascript"></script> by itself, the dataview template works fine. but if I put in the following references: <script src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery.validate/1.7/jquery.validate.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftMvcValidation.js" type="text/javascript"></script> then I get the following error: > Error: Type._registerScript is not a > function Source File: > http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/beta/0911/MicrosoftAjaxTemplates.js > Line: 1 and: > Error: Sys.get("$listings") is null > Source File: > http://localhost:12370/Listings Line: > 76 Here's the code calling the dataview: $(document).ready(function () { LoadMap(); Sys.require([Sys.components.dataView, Sys.scripts.jQuery], function() { $("#listings").dataView(); Sys.get("$listings").set_data(listings.Data); updateMap(listings.Data); }); }); I would really appreciate any help with this one. This appears to be because I am loading the document as not visible using Word automation, and I have to keep it invisible. How would I code the open macro so that it does nothing in this case?   • System.Windows.Ria.Controls and POCO

    I'm trying to figure out how to use POCO for silverlight use. I found an article that appears it will step me through the basics. However, it has in it a reference to the System.Windows.Ria.Controls. i don't have that on my machine.. i found System.Windows.Ria but not one that has teh control on it. I just downloaded teh RIA beta today and installed it.. so should have the latest and greatest. Anyway..     I have seen on many sites the silverlight video player. I noticed that all of them took a URL as the source of the video file. Can a silverlight player play a video file kept locally? I mean a simple HTML file kept in a folder with the xap (say VideoPlayer.xap) and the video (say ABC.avi) file. The html file would contain an object tag.   • Building Web Application project using MSBuild from command line on 64-bit: missing targets file

    Building a solution containing a web application project using MSBuild from powershell like this: msbuild "/p:OutDir=$build_dir\" $solution_file Works fine for me on 32-bit, but on a 64-bit machine I am running into this error: error MSB4019: The imported project "C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v9.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and powershell v2. The problem has already been documented here and here. Basically on 64-bit install of VS, the Microsoft.WebApplication.targets needed by MSBuild is in the Program Files(x86) dir, not the Program Files dir, but MSBuild doesn't recognise this and so looks in the wrong place. The two solutions are not ideal: Manually copy the file on 64-bit from Program Files(x86) to Program Files. This is a poor solution - every dev will have to do this manually. Manually edit the csproj file so MSBuild looks in the right place. Again not ideal: I would rather not have to get everyone on 64bit to manually edit csproj files on every new project. e.g. <Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPathx86)\$(WebAppTargetsSuffix)" Condition="Exists('$(MSBuildExtensionsPathx86)\$(WebAppTargetsSuffix)')" /> Ideally I want a way to tell MSBuild to import the target file form the right place from the command line but I can't work out how to do that. Any solutions?

  • Google Closure Library - Adding non-TreeNode children to a TreeNode

    Hi, I'm using the Google Closure Library and goog.ui.tree in particular to build a tree structure GUI component. It works pretty well out of the box, but I'd like to add a few extra controls to each of the leaves (goog.ui.Checkboxes in particular). The problem is that Component.addChild has been overridden in BaseNode so that each added child is treated as a child tree node as opposed to a child component. In effect plenty of errors are thrown if you try to add anything else than an actual tree node as a child, as these children are traversed and BaseNode-specific functions are called on them. I must admit I'm quite a Closure newb, but I reckon there must be some workaround for this, right? Essentially all I want to do is have a bunch of checkboxes appear next to each leaf in my tree. So I obtain a row with two columns with "null" value : CompanyID | CompanyName | SubTotal | Tax | TotalRevenue Null Null 145487 27642.53 173129.53 this success because all rows have been grouped with out taking care about the firsts columns and just Summing the valuable columns, so I need to change that null for default values as CompanyID = "100000000" and CompanyName = "Others". I try use SqlCommand on a OLE DB Command Component : SELECT "10000000" AS RUCCLI , "Otros - Varios" AS RAZCLI FROM RGVCAFAC <property id="1505" name="SqlCommand" dataType="System.String" state="default" isArray="false" description="The SQL command to be executed." typeConverter="" UITypeEditor="Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls.ModalMultilineStringEditor, Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Controls, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" containsID="false" expressionType="Notify">SELECT "10000000" AS RUCCLI , "Otros - Varios" AS RAZCLI FROM RGVCAFAC</property> but nothings happens, why? and finally the task finish when the data is inserted on a SQL Server Table.     I use DataTemplateSelector for ListView column headers template selection. ListView itself is in DataTemplate and ends up in a few tabs. So, in practice, I have same DataTemplate (so ListView too) shared between more TabItems. This means that if I select tab {A} and set XDataTemplate on ListView column {AColumn}, if I switch the tab, lets say to tab {B}, on {B}'s ListView (that is always the same one) column {AColumn} we will see the same XDataTemplate, because we share same UI data. So I created data layer where I hold relational information about {Tab} <- {ListView:Column} <- {HeaderContent}, which actually reads DatatemplateSelector in order correctly update UI on user screen. What I need is to notify to DataTemplateSelector to update current view in the moment that I need. How can I achieve that goal? Thank you.

    hi, I have an aspx page on which I have 2 static jquery tabs.Upon clicking on a button avaiable on one of these tabs,I would like to add a new tab dynamically,which gets its content loaded from another aspx page.I've also tried with the following sample http://jquery-ui.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/demos/tabs/manipulation.html I've downloaded jquery-ui-1.8rc3.custom zip file and tried to add the above page with the relevant script,css files to my asp.net website and run,but it does not seem to work.Also I do not want to have a dialog opening and asking the user to enter the tab title as in the above sample.     Hi, I'm facing currently a problem regarding Subsonic configuration. What I want to achieve is using subsonic data access in a System.Web.UI.Design.ControlDesigner class. This class is hosted in Visual Studio Environment and enables design time operations on the attached System.Web.UI.WebControls.Control. The only problem is SubSonic seems always looking for SubSonicSection in the application configuration regardless passing connection string to it. The relevant code snippet: using (SharedDbConnectionScope dbScope = new SharedDbConnectionScope(new SqlDataProvider(), ConnectionString)) { Table1 _table1 = new Select().From<..().Where(...).IsEqualTo(...).ExecuteSingle<...>(); Throws exception on ExecuteSingle() method (configuration section was not found) while using (SharedDbConnectionScope dbScope = new SharedDbConnectionScope(ConnectionString)) { Throws exception on new SharedDbConnectionScope() (configuration section was not found) So the question is: Is there any way to pass the settings runtime to bypass the configuration section lookup as I don't want to add any subsonic specific configuration to devenv.configuration Thanks

  • iPhone: Compressing .app files in command line (Mac OS X) removes CodeSigning

    I am trying to do a simple build automation of my iPhone apps with TeamCity, but having this nagging issue.. When I manually pickup and install .app file from the build folder it works great (syncs smoothly with iTunes and I can see the app on my phone) But when I try to zip this with /bin/zip or ditto...then the zipped contents loose the CodeSigning (iTunes says that it cannot install this app because its not signed) I have tried different combinations of these.. ditto -ck --rsrc --keepParent HelloWorld.app HelloWorld.zip Any more ideas?

    SharePoint is generally very tolerant of accepting a URL in a case-insensitive fashion, however there are a few cases where it completely breaks down. For example, when creating a site column it somehow stores and uses the URL when it was created, and when trying to edit the field definition through the Site Column Gallery (fldedit.aspx page in the LAYOUTS) you end up throwing the error below. If I correct the URL in the address bar, I can still view/modify the definition for the SPField in question, but the default URL that is generated is bogus. Clear as mud?   • Using the sharepoint stsadm import command fails when list exists

    When using the stsadm -o import command in sharepoint I am getting an error relating to a list already existing, the import then seems to fail. Should it not handle this scenario of a list already existing on the destination server? I then used the UI to delete the existing list and ran the import again. It then seemed to fail at the same point saying the list exists. In the UI the list appears but when I click it, it reports that the list does not exist - almost as if it's stuck in a half created state, unable to be deleted or created by the import. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    we're considering migrating our UI to XBAP. we've chosen XBAP despite knowing the clients must have .net pre-installed, since we're not targeting the masses but rather IT professionals in the corporate environment, and it's a way to preserve our investment (in a WPF based UI in a client-server architecture) and enjoy web deployment. however, we are concerned about the maturity of the platform/architecture and it's adoption. do you know of any commercial applications out there using XBAP, and do you have any experience using it? can you elaborate on that experience? also, as @Murph suggested, can you think of strong reasons to prefer clickOnce over XBAP (or the other way around)?

I also created ILMerge.exe.config in the ILMerge directory: <?xml version ="1.0"?> <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <requiredRuntime safemode="true" imageVersion="v4.0.30319" version="v4.0.30319"/> </startup> </configuration> Why isn't ILMerge generating a 4.0.30319 assembly?
