• Remove a keyboard shortcut binding in Visual Studio using Macros

  Hi. I have a lot of custom keyboard shortcuts set up. To avoid having to set them up every time I install a new visual studio (happens quite a lot currectly, with VS2010 being in beta/RC) I have created a macro, that sets up all my custom commands, like this: DTE.Commands.Item("ReSharper.ReSharper_UnitTest_RunSolution").Bindings = "Global::Ctrl+T, Ctrl+A" My main problem is that Ctrl+T is set up to map to the transpose char command by default. So I want to remove that default value in my macro. I have tried the following two lines, but both throw an exception DTE.Commands.Item("Edit.CharTranspose").Bindings = "" DTE.Commands.Item("Edit.CharTranspose").Bindings = Nothing Although they kind of work, because they actually remove the binding ;) But I would prefer the solution that doesn't throw an exception. How is that done?

• one page filter results in new page in javascript

  I have links set up on one page and the relationship between the links is a parent child relationship. (For example: Parent: All, Children: Software; Hardware) These links of course lead the user to a new page that shows the results from a table that is populated. Currently these links are all Similar destinations, but just a filter in the url. But the problem is that there is a javascript filter on the page that gives the user to choose between All, Software, or Hardware. Understand basically that if the url is still reading that there on the software page but they just filtered on the page to be Hardware that doesn't look good IMO. So what I was trying to do was make the links on the inital page all go the the exact same destination and somehow still know on the new page which link was clicked and run the javascript filter from knowing which link was clicked on that page. Is there a way to found that out from javascript? I guess a way to pass that value to the new page and retrieving it in javascript without showing it in the url so I can filter the table for the user based on that value?

• Using htaccess rewrite/redirect so single PHP file can display data according to GET/POST variables

  Hey gang, Bear with me as I try to learn more about .htaccess redirect rules - I'm a UI guy by profession and I'm doing my best to enhance my coding skills languages other than HTML/CSS/PHP, etc So, what I have is an index.php file that contains a menu - pretty simple. If Javascript is enabled on the users computer then forms are shown below the menu using simple jQuery goodies, with each link having a 'return false;' applied. What I am trying to do is make the page accessible with JS turned off, so instead of redirecting the user to a different page, I would like to use POST or GET variables from each link, to show the various forms.. within the same index.php file - but have the URL reflect the menu choice Here is an example using menu items named - Home, About, Form1 and Form2: With JS on, clicking on of the above example buttons simply slides the form or containing the data down onto the page. With JS off, if the user clicks the 'About' link, I would like to rewrite the URL to be http://domain.com/about - but keep the user on the index.php page (since it is the only page) and be able to use POST or GET variable to show the using PHP. So, accessing http://domain.com/index.php?page=about would show http://domain.com/about in the URL but pass the GET variable 'page' to the index.php file. Hope that makes sense.. and I'm sure there are many ways to accomplish this, so if you have ideas of how to improve on it, by all means, I'd love to hear it ! Thanks again Revive

  I am developing a Flex application on top of Mate framework. In this application, I am using a webservice to retrieve data. As this webservice as not a fix location URL (depending on where customers installed it), I define this URL in a config file. When the Flex application starts, it first reads this config file, then I would like to use the value I found to initialize the webservice. But currently, I have no idea how to this. • How do I determine if a JDialog has children?

  I've got a custom window class that is a couple levels down extending a JDialog. We have windows that we create and sometimes we create new windows as children of existing windows using the constructor that takes a parent argument. I need to put some code somewhere in our custom class that does something different depending on whether not the window has children. I know of getParent(), etc, and I can see that I can loop through the components of the window, but for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to determine whether or not my current window has any child windows. Is there a way to do this? Any help is, as always, much appreciated.

• Flex: embedded fonts not being applied correctly in Label and DataGrid

  Folks, I am observing a problem with how an embedded font is applied to certain Flex components, namely mx:Label and mx:DataGrid. I have a CSS that declares three variations on an embedded font as follows: @font-face { src:url("buttons.swf"); font-family: "Arial"; } @font-face { src:url("buttons.swf"); font-family: "Arial"; font-weight: bold; } @font-face { src:url("buttons.swf"); font-family: "Arial"; font-style: italic; } And in the style declaration for Label and DataGrid, I have: Label { fontFamily: "Arial"; fontSize: 11; fontFamily: LucidaSans; } and DataGrid { fontFamily: "Arial"; height: 16; } (I've snipped some stuff from both style rules, so if you think there's something that may be causing a conflict I can certainly post the entire definition. It's mostly color, line and padding stuff for the DataGrid.) The problem that is for both Label and cells in the DataGrid the text is being rendered as sort of a times new roman font. The headers in the DataGrid are fine, just the text in the cells is wonky. All other components use the correct font as defined in the CSS/SWF. Any ideas why this is happening?

  How do I escape ampersands in a batch file (or from the Windows command line) in order to use the start command to open web pages with ampersands in the URL? Double quotes will not work with start; this starts a new command line window instead. Update 1: Wael Dalloul's solution works. In addition, if there are URL encoded characters (e.g. space is encoded as %20) in the URL and it is in a batch file then '%' must be encoded as '%%'. This is not the case in the example. Example, from the command line (CMD.EXE): start http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=escape+ampersand&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 will result in http://www.google.com/search?client=opera being opened in the default browser and these errors in the command line window: 'rls' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 'q' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 'sourceid' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. • How to use routing in a ASP MVC website to localize in two languages - But keeping exiting URLs

  We have a couple ASP MVC websites just using the standard VS templates default settings - Working as wanted. But now I want to localize these website ( They are now in Dutch and I will add the English language ) I would like to use routing and not Resource because: 1. Languages will differ in content, numbers of pages, etc. 2. The content is mostly text. I would like the URLs to look some thing like this - www.domain.com/en/Home/Index, www.domain.nl/nl/Home/Index. But the last one should also work with - www.domain.nl/Home/Index - Witch is the exciting URLs. I have implemented Phil Haacks areas ViewEngine from this blogpost - http://haacked.com/archive/2008/11/04/areas-in-aspnetmvc.aspx. But only putting the English website in the areas and keeping the Dutch in old structure. Witch are served as Phils default fallback. But the problem is here that I have to duplicate my controllers for both language's. So I tried the work method described in this tread - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1712167/asp-net-mvc-localization-route. It works OK with the ?en? and /nl/ but not with the old URLs.   Hello, What is the best way to use the custom UI graphics on the iPhone? I've come across CGContextDrawPDFPage and Panic's Shrinkit. Should I be using storing my vector ui graphics as PDF's and loading them using CGContextDrawPDFPage to draw them. I did previously asked what way Apple store their UI graphics and was answered crushed png. The options as I see it, but I would really want to know what technique other people use. This question is for vector graphics only. Looking for what is standard / most effective / most efficient. • Tips on debugging copy and paste into powerpoint 2010

  I have a custom application in C++ that has been used to successfully copy-and-paste an object from the application into MS Office 2003 and 2007 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). The object opens in our own custom activeX control. Now with windows XP and PowerPoint 2010, nothing happens on the cut-and-paste. I have tried turning off the smart copy/paste to no avail. Copy/paste works with Word and Excel 2010. Do you have tips on how to debug this? Thanks Andrew

  Hey, I'm trying to split my rails project in a front-end for regular users and a back-end for admins. Therefore i have created a namespace 'admin' so that i can easily control admin specific controller methods/layouts/authentication in the map admin. I'm using Devise to register/authenticate my admins only. Because it is only used for admins only i'm trying to move Devise to the admin namespace. I could not find exactly what i was looking for in the documentation of Devise but i tried something like this in routes.rb: namespace 'admin'do devise_for :admins end I also tried to make a custom Devise::Sessions controller but that too didn't seem to work out. Does anyone know how to do this? Should i just use the regular routes for devise with a custom(admin) layout?

• Adding links to full change forms for inline items in django admin?

  I have a standard admin change form for an object, with the usual StackedInline forms for a ForeignKey relationship. I would like to be able to link each inline item to its corresponding full-sized change form, as the inline item has inlined items of its own, and I can't nest them. I've tried everything from custom widgets to custom templates, and can't make anything work. So far, the "solutions" I've seen in the form of snippets just plain don't seem to work for inlines. I'm getting ready to try some DOM hacking with jQuery just to get it working and move on. I hope I must be missing something very simple, as this seems like such a simple task! Using Django 1.2.

  I have a custom ListBox which uses a custom Panel as ItemsHost. I want to have control over mouse wheel input, so that turning the wheel changes the single selected item. I believe that the best method to do so is to handle the OnPreviewMouseWheel event (although this is only have what I want since it doesn't provide horizontal wheel data). Now the big question: Is there a best practice where to handle OnPreviewMouseWheel? In ListBox (which by default doesn't have a clue about the arrangement of the Panel's child elements) or in Panel (which by default doesn't have a clue about the "IsSelected" property of it's child elements)?

• SharePoint Lookup Field 20 Item JS error

  Hi Everyone, I've got an issue with SharePoint Server 2007 SP1 which seems to be documented in various forms, but I haven't been able to find an answer to my seemingly simpler question. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcustomization/thread/040533d2-c738-4ac2-b2d6-65a1602fa2d1 Essentially, we have a form with a lookup field to another SharePoint list. The lookup field has more than 20 items, and so SharePoint changes the type/behaviour of the field as per the standard behaviour. However, with my custom skin applied, clicking on this drop down causes a JS error from within the Core.js file, as described here: http://splitnut.blogspot.com/2009/06/lookup-fields-in-moss-javascript-error.html What I haven't been able to figure out is why this is only an issue when my custom master page is applied, and not the OOTB master pages. I've been through and tried to see what might cause this, but haven't been able to track down the cause of the behaviour. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

  Before I start: I'm programming for Iphone, using objective C. I have already implemented a call to a web service function using NSURLRequest and NSURLConnection. The function then returns a XML with the info I need. The code is as follows: NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://myWebService/function"]; NSMutableURLRequest theRequest = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:url]; NSURLConnection theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; i also implemented the methods didRecieveResponse didRecieveAuthenticationChallenge didRecievedData didFailWithError connectionDidFinishLoading. And it works perfectly. Now I need to send 2 parameters to the function: "location" and "module". I tried using the following modification: NSMutableURLRequest theRequest = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:url]; [theRequest setValue:@"USA" forHTTPHeaderField:@"location"]; [theRequest setValue:@"DEVELOPMENT" forHTTPHeaderField:@"module"]; NSURLConnection theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; But it doesn't seem to work. I'm doing something wrong? is there a way to know if I'm using the wrong names for the parameters (as maybe it is "Location" or "LOCATION" or it doesn't matter?)? or a way to know which parameters is the function waiting for... Extra info: I don't have access to the source of the web service so I can't modify it. But I can access the WSDL. The person who made the function say is all there... but I can't make any sense of it .< Any help would be appreciated. :)

  Our environment consists of Project Server 2007 and MOSS 2007. We have around 750 projects and lots of "Enterprise Custom Fields" set up to track all of the metadata associated with a project. Our main requirement is to be able to search/filter/group/sort all of these projects by metadata in SharePoint. Our current process involves syncing this custom metadata into a SharePoint list (which requires a LOT of maintenance). Question: Is it possible to leverage SharePoint search to crawl/index these metadata fields in Project Server? How would I go about setting this up?

  I'm working to build a jQuery AutoSuggest plugin, inspired by Apple's spotlight. Right now the code above hits the server every time you type a key and does not wait for you to essentially finish typing. What's the best way to solve this? A. Kill previous AJAX request? B. Some type of AJAX caching? C. Adding some type of delay to only submit .AJAX() when the person has stopped typing for 300ms or so?

• window.location.href not working in Safari when using onkeypress

  I'm using an asp textbox and a search button. In Safari if I click the search button i get redirected to the search results page using javascript window.location.href. But strangely the same javascript will not redirect to the page if I press return in the textbox. Using the alert function I can see that window.location.href has the the correct url and the location bar at the top changes from the search page(default.aspx) to the search results url however when I click OK to the alert box the url at the top reverts back to the default.aspx page. It works on ie7/8/firefox/chrome but not safari. • jQuery drag drop slower for more DIV items

  Hi there, I have got a hierarchichal tags (with parent child relationship) in my page and it will account to 500 - 4500 (can even grow). When i bound the draggable and droppable for all i saw very bad performance in IE7 and IE6. The custom helper wont move smoothly and was very very slow. Based on some other post i have made the droppable been bound/unbound on mouseover and mouseout events (dynamically). Its better now. But still i dont see the custom helper move very smoothly there is a gap between the mouse cursor and the helper when they move and gets very bad when i access the site from remote. Please help me to address this performance issue. Am totally stuck here.. :(

  I have a method in a url rewriting module that looks like this public bool Match(Uri url) { string x = url.PathAndQuery.ToLowerInvariant(); string y = RuleData.ToLowerInvariant(); return x.Contains(y); } However, it is not returning true for the following values: x = "/xx09-02-09xx"; y = "09-02-09"; but if I write a unit test with the raw strings, like below, it does return true [Test] public void Contains() { string x = "/xx09-02-09xx"; string y = "09-02-09"; Assert.IsTrue(x.Contains(y)); // this returns true } What could be the difference? The encoding? The culture? Have tried removing the ToLowerInvarient(), but that makes no difference have tried all the following in the Match method bool contains = x.Contains(y); bool contains1 = x.IndexOf(y) != -1; bool contains2 = x.IndexOf(y, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase) != -1; bool contains3 = x.IndexOf(y, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) != -1; bool contains4 = x.IndexOf(y, StringComparison.CurrentCultureIgnoreCase) != -1; but none return true for those values, when run in the rewrite module. But they do in the unit test. So something about the strings is clearly different any ideas?
