  • Can two Identical devices be present on the same bus in any PCI Topology

    As per the PCI standard, devices are identified on the basis of Vendor Id, Device Id and the bus no. All devices of same type have identical vendor id and device id. If I put two such devices on the same bus say bus 0. How will the PCI Software Subsystem distinguish between the two? If such a case is not possible in PCI, then can such thing be possible through PCI Express Switch?

    I've had the desire to move to Linux for desktop computing for some time, as the OS just suits me, I think, better than Windows. I've not yet moved from Windows for a few reasons: It's used in my workplace. I have an extensive application base that does whatever I need (and they're all on a portable hdd) I am familiar developing software on Windows. So, what about Linux keeps you from moving to it, or what does your current desktop OS offer that Linux does not?

    On my Windows Vista PC, there is always an instance of "GoogleUpdate.exe" running. I find this annoying, so I'd like to make sure it doesn't start automatically. This proves to be not so easy, as I have tried these solutions: I disabled the "Google updateservice" service I removed the registry section "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Google Update" None of these worked. The registry section is simply re-added. Does anyone know the trick to avoid GoogleUpdate.exe to be started after booting the system?

  • Is there a way to apply a GPO to all but selective users? (SBS 2008)

    I've created a GPO in SBS 2008 that deploys and updates software. Unfortunately, one of our VPN users lives out in the sticks and has severe latency, so the start up processes and updates time out and take an awfully long time, if they ever complete at all. I'd like to apply this GPO to all auth'd users except for him, without having to create a new custom user group. Any thoughts?

    I'm looking for a simple caching (can be caching-only) DNS server, which can do parallel resolving on its own. Is there something like that available? Alternatively I know there's the c-ares library, which can do multiple-hosts resolution, but it's not a drop-in replacement for libresolve that I could use in the affected software. Maybe there is some other lib which can fulfill this requirement?

    Hi, I use Squid and the users must authenticate. The users are authenticating in cleartext. I found tutorials about stunnel (http://www.jeffyestrumskas.com/?page_id=3), but the clients also need this software. Is there no possibility that for user authentication SSL (or some other encryption technology) can be used?. Thanks.

It's like 1/6 of the screen on the right that makes anything over there impossible to see. If not, what would be the best programming language to go about making my own program?   • Server unable to communicate OUT, fine serving traffic

    We have several servers that are randomly loses the ability to communicate out to other nodes on the local network and internet. However websites are being served fine and we still have ssh access. A reboot seems to fix the problem for a few days. The servers are running 10.5.X and are fully up to date with software updates. Does anyone have any opinions, we think it is probably an ISP router, but we are guessing. Cheers Jono

    Windows 7 could be better at this, it tells everything about the computer CPU but only the Memory amount Microsoft should add information about DDR type, speed and maybe CL as well. While this never happens, What's the best and easy way to check the installed memory so we can buy and upgrade it?     I recently purchased a blackberry bold - and was rather annoyed to find that I can't read my pdf files on it (unless I purchase something else [can't remember what] from RIM). Are there any free Blackberry apps out there that allow you to read pdf files (without having to connect to the internet)? Failing that, maybe someone can suggest (free) software I can use to change the pdf format to something that my Blackberry can view/read?
