  • Filter a list of objects using a property that is another list. Usign linq.

    - by Luís Custódio
    I've a nice situation, I think at beginning this a usual query but I'm having some problem trying to solve this, the situation is: I've a list of "Houses", and each house have a list of "Windows". And I want to filter for a catalog only the Houses witch have a Blue windows, so my extension method of House is something like: public static List<House> FilterByWindow (this IEnumerable<House> houses, Window blueOne){ houses.Select(p=>p.Windows.Where(q=>q.Color == blueOne.Color)); return houses.ToList(); } Is this correct or I'm losing something? Some better suggestion?

  • What is the safest way to subtract two System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.FILETIME objects

    - by Anindya Chatterjee
    I wonder what is the safest way to subtract two System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.FILETIME objects? I used the following code but sometimes it gives me ArithmaticOverflow exception due to the negative number in Low 32-bit values. I am not sure enclosing the body with unchecked will serve the purpose or not. Please give me some suggestion on how to do it safely without getting any runtime exception or CS0675 warning message. private static UInt64 SubtractTimes(FILETIME a, FILETIME b) { UInt64 aInt = ((UInt64)(a.dwHighDateTime << 32)) | (UInt32)a.dwLowDateTime; UInt64 bInt = ((UInt64)(b.dwHighDateTime << 32)) | (UInt32)b.dwLowDateTime; return aInt - bInt; }

  • jQuery Address Plugin - Not allowing loading ajax?

    - by Nic Hubbard
    I am trying to test the jQuery Address Plugin and it seems to not allow ajax to work in the change function. I am using: $.address.change(function(event) { $('#content').load(event.value+' #content'); $.address.title(event.value); }); $('a').click(function() { $.address.value($(this).attr('href')); }); While I can use event.value for other things, it just does not seem to let the .load() function work. Even trying a static URL in .load() does nothing. Is something in the plugin preventing this? I thought this was the point of the plugin!

  • in google analytics, what is 'ga:accountName' for ?

    - by Chez
    In google analytics, what is 'ga:accountName' for ? it might seem like a straightforward question but I can't find anywhere some documentation which tells me what ga:accountName is supposed to return. if I run the google's code from the java example: private static void getAccountFeed(AnalyticsService analyticsService) throws IOException, MalformedURLException, ServiceException { // Construct query from a string. URL queryUrl = new URL( "https://www.google.com/analytics/feeds/accounts/default?max-results=10"); // Make request to the API. AccountFeed accountFeed = analyticsService.getFeed(queryUrl, AccountFeed.class); // Output the data to the screen. System.out.println("-------- Account Feed Results --------"); for (AccountEntry entry : accountFeed.getEntries()) { System.out.println( "\nAccount Name = " + entry.getProperty("ga:accountName") + "\nProfile Name = " + entry.getTitle().getPlainText() + "\nProfile Id = " + entry.getProperty("ga:profileId") + "\nTable Id = " + entry.getTableId().getValue()); } } it does return my website. can anybody help ? thanks

  • Gapless (looping) audio playback with DirectX in C#

    - by horsedrowner
    I'm currently using the following code (C#): private static void PlayLoop(string filename) { Audio player = new Audio(filename); player.Play(); while (player.Playing) { if (player.CurrentPosition >= player.Duration) { player.SeekCurrentPosition(0, SeekPositionFlags.AbsolutePositioning); } System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(100); } } This code works, and the file I'm playing is looping. But, obviously, there is a small gap between each playback. I tried reducing the Thread.Sleep it to 10 or 5, but the gap remains. I also tried removing it completely, but then the CPU usage raises to 100% and there's still a small gap. Is there any (simple) way to make playback in DirectX gapless? It's not a big deal since it's only a personal project, but if I'm doing something foolish or otherwise completely wrong, I'd love to know. Thanks in advance.

  • Type problem when including tuple

    - by Person
    I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with Feature Pack 1. I have a typedef like this typedef std::tr1::tuple<std::string, std::string, int> tileInfo with a function like this const tileInfo& GetTile( int x, int y ) const. In the implementation file the function has the exact same signature (with the added class name qualifier) and I am getting a redefinition: different type modifiers error. It seems to be looking for an int& instead of a tileInfo& When I mouse over the type of the function in the header, i.e. tileInfo& it brings up a little bar saying static const int tileInfo. I think this may be the problem, but I'm not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • PHP: friend classes and ungreedy caller function/class

    - by avetis.kazarian
    Is there any way to get the caller function with something else than debug_backtrace()? I'm looking for a less greedy way to simulate scopes like friend or internal. Let's say I have a class A and a class B. Until now, I've been using debug_backtrace(), which is too greedy (IMHO). I thought of something like this: <?php class A { public function __construct(B $callerObj) {} } class B { public function someMethod() { $obj = new A($this); } } ?> It might be OK if you want to limit it to one specific class, but let's say I have 300 classes, and I want to limit it to 25 of them? One way could be using an interface to aggregate: public function __construct(CallerInterface $callerObj) But it's still an ugly code. Moreover, you can't use that trick with static classes. Have any better idea?

  • Flex - weird display behavior on large number of Canvas

    - by itarato
    Hi, I have a Flex app (SDK 3.5 - FP10) that does mindmap trees. Every node is a Canvas (I'm using Canvas specific properties so I needed it). It has a shadow effect, background color and some small ui element on it (like icons, texts...). It works perfectly until it goes over ~700 nodes (Canvas). Over that number it shows grey rectangles: http://yfrog.com/bhw2pj . If I turn off the DropShadowFilter effect for the Canvas, they are also gone, so I assume it's a DropShadowFilter problem: http://yfrog.com/2d9y8j . The effect is simple: private static var _nodeDropShadow:DropShadowFilter = new DropShadowFilter(1, 45, 0x888888, 1, 1, 1); _backgroundComp.filters = _nodeDropShadow; Is it possible that Flex can't handle that much? Thanks in advance

  • Inheriting the main method

    - by Eric
    I want to define a base class that defines a main method that instantiates the class, and runs a method. There are a couple of problems though. Here is the base class: public abstract class Strategy { abstract void execute(SoccerRobot robot); public static void main(String args) { Strategy s = new /*Not sure what to put here*/(); s.execute(new SoccerRobot()) } } And here is an example derived class: public class UselessStrategy { void execute(SoccerRobot robot) { System.out.println("I'm useless") } } It defines a simple execute method, which should be called in a main method upon usage as a the main application. However, in order to do so, I need to instantiate the derived class from within the base class's main method. Which doesn't seem to be possible. I'd rather not have to repeat the main method for every derived class, as it feels somewhat unnessary. Is there a right way of doing this?

  • C# Combobox and TabControl woes

    - by Jake
    enter code hereI have a TabControl on a Form and in the TabPages there are ComboBoxes. When the form OnLoad, I populate the ListItems in the ComboBoxes and the attempt to set default values to string.Empty. However, the ComboBox.SelectedText = string.Empty only works for the first TabPage. The other ComboBoxes ignore the command and take the default value as the first item in the list. Why is this so? How can I overcome it? The ComboBoxes are all set up by this function public static void PrepareComboBox(ComboBox combobox, FieldValueList list) { combobox.DropDownStyle = ComboBoxStyle.DropDown; combobox.AutoCompleteSource = AutoCompleteSource.ListItems; combobox.AutoCompleteMode = AutoCompleteMode.Suggest; combobox.DataSource = list.DataSource; combobox.DisplayMember = list.DisplayMember; combobox.ValueMember = list.ValueMember; combobox.Text = string.Empty; combobox.SelectedText = string.Empty; }

  • Is this casting safe?

    - by Itsik
    I need to write a Util function (in my c++cli app) that converts a String to a Double or Float or Int. template<typename T> static T MyConvert(String^ str) { return static_cast<T>(System::Convert::ToDouble(str)); } Is this safe? Can it somehow convert 2 to 1.999 and then to 1 if I call MyConvert<int>("2") ? I was wondering why the Convert class isn't templated in the first place? (That would let me call Convert<T> instead of Convert.ToDouble() for all types) This is C++/Cli so I can use any convert methods in c++ or .net, but I only know Convert.ToDouble()|ToString()|ToInt32()) Thanks

  • Resuming execution of code after exception is thrown and caught

For exampel, take the following code: namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Test { public void s() { throw new NotSupportedException(); string @class = "" ; Console.WriteLine(@class); Console.ReadLine(); } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { try { new Test().s(); } catch (ArgumentException x) { } catch (Exception ex) { } } } } After catching the exception when stepping through, the program will stop running. • Perfect hash in Scala.

    - by Lukasz Lew
    I have some class C: class C (...) { ... } I want to use it to index an efficient map. The most efficient map is an Array. So I add a "global" "static" counter in companion object to give each object unique id: object C { var id_counter = 0 } In primary constructor of C, with each creation of C I want to remember global counter value and increase it. Question 1: How to do it? Now I can use id in C objects as perfect hash to index array. But array does not preserve type information like map would, that a given array is indexed by C's id. Question 2: Is it possible to have it with type safety?

  • Selective coloring on dynamic TextBlock content in WPF

    - by user326579
    For selective coloring of static content the following suggestion works fine : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2435880/is-it-possible-to-seletively-color-a-wrapping-textblock-in-silverlight-wpf However my content will be generated at runtime. For ex. if the Content generated is : "A Quick Brown Fox" Then I need they string "Brown" to be in color Brown and "Fox" to be in color Red The Keyword-Color list is fixed and available to me at runtime. I have looked at the Advanced TextFormatting page on MSDN, but it is too complicated for me, also the sample in there does not compile :( I am looking at creating a custom control which can do this for me. Let me know if anyone has any idea regarding how to go about this. Thanks in advance.

  • Optimize C# Code Fragment

    - by Eric J.
    I'm profiling some C# code. The method below is one of the most expensive ones. For the purpose of this question, assume that micro-optimization is the right thing to do. Is there an approach to improve performance of this method? Changing the input parameter to p to ulong[] would create a macro inefficiency. static ulong Fetch64(byte[] p, int ofs = 0) { unchecked { ulong result = p[0 + ofs] + ((ulong)p[1 + ofs] << 8) + ((ulong)p[2 + ofs] << 16) + ((ulong)p[3 + ofs] << 24) + ((ulong)p[4 + ofs] << 32) + ((ulong)p[5 + ofs] << 40) + ((ulong)p[6 + ofs] << 48) + ((ulong)p[7 + ofs] << 56); return result; } }

  • Netbeans Java SE GUI Builder: private initComponents() problem

    - by maSnun
    When I build a GUI for my Java SE app with Netbeans GUI builder, it puts all the codes in the initComponents() method which is private. I could not change it to public. So, all the components are accessible only to the class containing the UI. I want to access those components from another class so that I can write custom event handlers and everything. Most importantly I want to separate my GUI code and non-GUI from each other. I can copy paste the GUI code and later make them public by hand to achieve what I want. But thats a pain. I have to handcraft a portion whenever I need to re-design the UI. What I tried to do: I used the variable identifier to make the text box public. Now how can I access the text box from the Main class? I think I need the component generated in a public method as well. I am new to Java. Any helps? Here's the sample classes: The UI (uiFrame.java) /* * To change this template, choose Tools | Templates * and open the template in the editor. */ /* * uiFrame.java * * Created on Jun 3, 2010, 9:33:15 PM */ package barcode; import java.util.logging.Level; import java.util.logging.Logger; import javax.swing.JFileChooser; import javax.swing.UIManager; import javax.swing.UnsupportedLookAndFeelException; import net.sourceforge.barbecue.output.OutputException; /** * * @author masnun */ public class uiFrame extends javax.swing.JFrame { /** Creates new form uiFrame */ public uiFrame() { try { try { // Set cross-platform Java L&F (also called "Metal") UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName()); } catch (ClassNotFoundException ex) { Logger.getLogger(uiFrame.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } catch (InstantiationException ex) { Logger.getLogger(uiFrame.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } catch (IllegalAccessException ex) { Logger.getLogger(uiFrame.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } catch (UnsupportedLookAndFeelException ex) { Logger.getLogger(uiFrame.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } finally { } initComponents(); } /** This method is called from within the constructor to * initialize the form. * WARNING: Do NOT modify this code. • What wording in the C++ standard allows static_cast<non-void-type*>(malloc(N)); to work?

    - by ben
    As far as I understand the wording in 5.2.9 Static cast, the only time the result of a void*-to-object-pointer conversion is allowed is when the void* was a result of the inverse conversion in the first place. Throughout the standard there is a bunch of references to the representation of a pointer, and the representation of a void pointer being the same as that of a char pointer, and so on, but it never seems to explicitly say that casting an arbitrary void pointer yields a pointer to the same location in memory, with a different type, much like type-punning is undefined where not punning back to an object's actual type. So while malloc clearly returns the address of suitable memory and so on, there does not seem to be any way to actually make use of it, portably, as far as I have seen.

  • How to build third party libraries with Android NDK

    - by heiko.witte
    How can I compile third party libraries with the android NDK? I am compiling a wrapper which implements the JNI functions as a shared lib, which depends on another 3rd party lib (HTK). I don't know how to setup the makefile. The following does not work: LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) include HTKLib/Android.mk LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) LOCAL_MODULE := gaitfuncs LOCAL_SRC_FILES := gaitfuncs.c %LOCAL_LDLIBS := -L$(SYSROOT)/usr/lib -llog include $(BUILD_SHARED_LIBRARY) The second makefile should then build a static lib which my shared lib links to. How can I include this subdir makefile properly? Is this the correct way of doing it? And as a bonus: Are there wildcards for the LOCAL_SRC_FILES variable to take all files ending in .c for example. Thanks!
