• UIView Horizontal scroll for a part of a screen

  Hi Friends, I have a requirement for scrolling a part of a view horizontally. there are 2 views, mainView(0,70,320*2,400) and a horizontalView(0,0,320*2,160)[this horizontalView has an internal UIScrollView with the same frame] So the horizontal view will occupy the first section of the screen and it should only be scrollable horizontally (and the other part of the mainView - the other part of the screen should be static). how to achieve this? i am getting a general scroll for the whole page not for the first section alone. am i in the right direction for this problem? please advice Thank you

• Actionscript blur/shadows/glows how heavy are they on the processor?

  Hi, I have say 10 items in a particular space, If I apply glows and drop shadows to all of them and all of these items are usually static. Other characters do move around them too. So I'm just wondering would it be wise to use vectors with actionscript blurs and glows. Or to have a PNG? and if I cannot have a PNG and have to work with vectors with glows/blurs/shadows. Would they be too heavy on the processor?

  I disassembled the .NET 'System' DLL and looked at the source code for the variable classes (string, int, byte, etc.) to see if I could figure out how to make a class that could take on a value. I noticed that the "Int32" class inherits the following: IComparable, IFormattable, IConvertible, IComparable, IEquatable. The String and Int32 classes are not inheritable, and I can't figure out what in these inherited interfaces allows the classes to hold a value. • Getting fields of a class through reflection

  I've done it a gazillion times in the past and successfully so. This time, I'm suffering from lapses of amnesia. So, I am just trying to get the fields on an object. It is an embarrassingly simple and stupid piece of code that I am writing in a test solution before I do something really useful in production code. Strangely, the GetFieldsOf method reports a zero length array on the "Amazing" class.   Hi All I am wondering if someone would be such an expert in guice that he even would know how to implement that : I have an injection annotation (@ConfParam)with some parameters , like that : class TestClass { private final int intValue; @Inject public TestClass(@ConfParam(section = "test1", key = "1") int intValue{ this.intValue = intValue; } public int getIntValue() { return intValue; } } The ConfParam is my custom annotation. Now , when the injection value is requested , I would like guice to create a dynamic binding, to resolve the value. For that binding I will need the parameters inside the annotation. Some example could be , I will have to look in the database in some table where the section is ? and the key is ?. All the trouble is that the data is not available when the injector is created and could be also be added at runtime. Ps. I static solution is easy. ( just have a look at the Names class)

  I'm teaching myself Python and my most recent lesson was that Python is not Java, and so I've just spent a while turning all my Class methods into functions. I now realise that I don't need to use Class methods for what I would done with static methods in Java, but now I'm not sure when I would use them. All the advice I can find about Python Class methods is along the lines of newbies like me should steer clear of them, and the standard documentation is at its most opaque when discussing them. Does anyone have a good example of using a Class method in Python or at least can someone tell me when Class methods can be sensibly used?

  Hi All, In my Asp.Net project I wanna use Property Auto-wiring, e.g. for my ILogger. Basically I placed Property into my base classes. One for Page, one for UserControl.   I'm using Clojure, but I can read Java, so this isn't a Clojure specific question. This doesn't even seem to be working from Java. I'm trying to implement a bit of a 'ping' function using isReachable. • Android 2.1 address bar causes change in viewport dimensions

  Hi, I have a page that has a 100% width and height div in it (all surrounding elements are sized accordingly so that it does actually achieve 100% width and height). Below that div I have a second div with a fixed height. In mobile safari and blackberry everything is fine, when the page loads the dimensions are applied correctly (the top div filling the viewport) and the user can scroll down to reveal the second div. Android 2.1 also applies the dimensions correctly, but with an added quirk; when the user scrolls down and removes the address bar from the page, the dimensions of the div are recalculated to fill the viewport, causing the content to jump. Ideally I would like the dimensions of the div to remain static when the page is scrolled, but remain 100% so that it will fill the viewport regardless of device size or orientation. Does anyone know of any way to disable this recalculation? Thanks for any help you can provide.

  Hi, I think I have something broken with the path that VS 2008 saves the backup files. Since few days, it creates a new "Visual Studio 2008" directory in the same folder that my .sln file exists. Then, after the time of the first auto-save expires, the backup files are being saved to this folder. I browsed the tools-options dialog but I haven't found a way to set the directory to by static: C:\documents and setings\\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Backup Files. Can anybody point me with the right solution to this problem (probably the correct registry entry - I guess) ? thanks

  I have a browser interface with a ul#contacts list on the left and div#contact property panel (email, phone) on the right. Click a contact in the list and my app makes an XHR request to get the contact property HTML fragment and update div#contact.innerHTML. Each contact fragment has an "Edit Contact" link. With JS, I progressively upgrade that link with an event listener that performs an XHR request to replace the static property panel with an in-place edit form. This can happen many times during a single browser session. How should I clean up my "Edit Contact" event listener? Do I need to remove it manually before the form overwrites the property panel? Or is the event listener cleaned up automatically when the contents of div#contact (and the node that I'm listening on) is overwritten? FWIW, I still consider IE6 to be part of my target market.

• How to access Session values from layers beneath the web application layer.

  We have many instances in our application where we would like to be able to access things like the currently logged in user id in our business domain and data access layer. On log we push this information to the session, so all of our front end code has access to it fairly easily of course. However, we are having huge issues getting at the data in lower layers of our application. We just can't seem to find a way to store a value in the business domain that has global scope just for the user (static classes and properties are of course shared by the application domain, which means all users in the session share just one copy of the object). We have considered passing in the session to our business classes, but then our domain is very tightly coupled to our web application. We want to keep the prospect of a winforms version of the application possible going forward. I find it hard to believe we are the first people to have this sort of issue. How are you handling this problem in your applications?
