• How do I backup and restore the system clipboard in C#?

  Hey everyone, I will do my best to explain in detail what I'm trying to achieve. I'm using C# with IntPtr window handles to perform a CTRL-C copy operation on an external application from my own C# application. I had to do this because there was no way of accessing the text directly using GET_TEXT. I'm then using the text content of that copy within my application. The problem here is that I have now overwritten the clipboard. What I would like to be able to do is: Backup the original contents of the clipboard which could have been set by any application other than my own. Then perform the copy and store the value into my application. Then restore the original contents of the clipboard so that the user still has access to his/her original clipboard data. The reason for this was that when I performed the CTRL-C, the Clipboard class from System.Windows.Forms did not return any data, but the system clipboard did. I looked into some of the low level user32 calls like OpenClipboard, EmptyClipboard, and CloseClipboard hoping that they would help my do this but so far I keep getting COM exceptions when trying to restore. I thought perhaps this had to do with the OpenClipboard parameter which is expecting an IntPtr window handle of the application which wants to take control of the clipboard. Since I mentioned that my application does not have a GUI this is a challenge. I wasn't sure what to pass here. Maybe someone can shed some light on that? Am I using the Clipboard class incorrectly? Is there a clear way to obtain the IntPtr window handle of an application with no GUI? Does anyone know of a better way to backup and restore the system clipboard?

  Hi, I'm new at this (java and opengl) so please bear with me if the answer to the question is simple. :) I'm trying to get a camera preview screen with the ability to display 3d objects simultaneously. Having gone through the samples at the api demos, I thought combining the code for the the examples at the api demo would suffice. But somehow its not working. The forces me to shut down upon startup and the error is mentioned as null pointer exception. Could someone share with me where did I go wrong and how to proceed from there. • How to find (in javascript) the current "scroll" offset in mobile safari / iphone

  I'd like to know the x/y offset of the how far the user has "scrolled" within the viewport in mobile safari on the iphone. Put another way, if I (through javascript) reloaded the current page, I'd like to find the values I'd need to pass into window.scrollTo(...) in order to reposition the document/viewport as it is currently. window.pageXOffset always reports 0 jquery's $('body').scrollTop() always reports 0 events have a pageX, but this won't account for the scrolling of the page that happens after you release your finger if your gesture was to "flick" the page up/down. Namely, it'll give me a point when the finger leaves the screen, but that doesn't always match where the page will be after it's finished scrolling. Any pointers?

• Calling WebMethods / WebService using jquery is blocking

  Hi, I'm generating a file on the server which takes some time. For this, I have a hidden iframe which I then set the .src attribute to an aspx file i.e iframe.src = "/downloadFile.aspx" While this is taking place, I'd like to have a call to a web service return the progress. To do this, I thought I could use window.setInterval or window.setTimeout but Javascript seems to be blocked as soon as I set the iframe src attribute. Does anyone know how to get around this or perhaps try a different approach? I have also tried handlers, but the request never gets to the server so I'm assuming is a browser/javascript issue.

  I need a WeifenLuo replacement that'll run on both .NET and Mono, on Windows, Linux and Mac, preferrably licensed under the MIT license. I'd appreciate if the API was similar to WeifenLuo's, but I understand that such may not be available. Also, since I couldn't find anything on Google, I believe this might not exist. In this case, I'd like some hints regarding how to implement this. I have some(not much) Windows.Forms experience, and I must not use any P/Invoke. I already know out how to detect window motion and how to create a borderless translucent window on a given position and with a given size. So here are some problems I am facing: WeifenLuo supports multiple left/right/top/bottom panes, allowing them to be resized and contain more than one panel. It also supports splittable tabs. Is there anything else I should be aware of before starting? Are there similar open-source projects available?

  I am writing an Excel 2007 Addin. using VS2008 and .net 3.5, C#. I catched Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application's WindowActivate and WindowDeActivate events. It was surprised to know that WindowActivate and Deactivate only triggers when i switch between two Excel Windows. if i switch to notepad, i expect Deactivate to be triggered, but its not happening. same way from notepad if i switch to excel window, i expect Activate to be triggered but its not happening. It looks like the behaviour indicates windows are MDI-Child windows. Now what i want to do is get HWnd of Excel's Mainwindow and hook Window Activate and Deactivates using dllimport features. Can anyone guide to me on this. Regards

• Form submit to target iframe only works once

  I'm having a really irritating problem doing something that I'm sure I've done before. The setup is this: There's a form which is submitted via a "click" handler on a button, though the submit is ultimately a simple call to the form's native submit() function. The form's target is an iframe, which is initially filled with an empty page (that is, its source object is an URL for an empty page). That is, the "target" attribute of the form is the same identifier (and yes, it's a valid identifier) as the "name" and "id" attributes of the iframe (and yes, it's unique) Now the goal of this setup is as follows: the form contains file upload fields. Should something be wrong with one of the files uploaded, the server will report back an error. If the error response (that is, the html page with a new copy of the form, along with appropriate error messages) were to be allowed to reload the original window, then the file input fields would be cleared. That's not good. Thus the form submits to the iframe, so that the response from the server can be a small page that knows it's in that hidden iframe, and knows to move the error messages up to the form. One more thing: the form itself is also in an iframe, as part of a popup modal dialog (like a jQuery UI dialog, only slightly different; same idea though). The setup works fine - on the first submit. In other words, if I supply nice happy files to upload, the server ships back the successful response, and the dialog is closed correctly. If I send a bogus file, the server responds with an error page that correctly copies its stuff up to the form page. On the second submit, however (like, if I fix the bogus file input field), the browser insists on sending the server response to a new browser tab. As far as I can tell, the form's "target" remains correct, the iframe "name" and "id" attributes aren't changed, and I even make sure to update the hidden iframe "window.name" and "window.id" values. None of that is helping; I always get a new browser tab. I'm trying to set up a slightly simpler test case to see if I can rule out some of my framework code (the stuff that does the submit), though via a few console.log() calls I think that stuff is OK; it's certainly OK on all the other dialogs etc. in the site. When/if I create a simpler version I'll post it. In the meantime, if any of you insanely smart people recognize this situation and know of a trick to make it work, I'd be really thankful. I see the same behavior in both Firefox (3.6) and Chrome, so it's got to be my problem and not a browser quirk (well, at least that's what I think to be true).

• How to execute "eval" without writing "eval" in JavaScript

  Here's the deal, we have a big JS library that we want to compress, but YUI compressor doesn't fully compress the code if it finds an "eval" statement, out of fear that it will break something else. That's great and all, but we know exactly what is getting eval'd, so we don't want it to get conservative because there's an eval statement in MooTools JSON.decode So basically the question is, is there any alternative (maybe creative) way of writing a expression that returns the eval function? I tried a few, but no dice: window['eval'](stuff); window['e'+'val'](stuff); // stuff runs in the global scope, we need local scope this['eval'](stuff); // this.eval is not a function (new Function( "with(this) { return " + '(' + stuff + ')' + "}"))() // global scope again Any ideas? • Visual C# 2008 Express connection to SQL Server 2008 Express problem

  Hi guys, I have a problem with Visual C# 2008 express (SP1) connecting to SQL Server 2008 express. The "Add Connection" window (wherever initiated) doesn't list existing sql server and no option for sql server except a compact edition. Note that, I've got the VWD 2008 express (SP1) on the same machine which shows the window regularly (with SQL server listed) and SQL Server Management studio works fine with the server as well. I've seen other similar posts, did take some advices: reinstalled the VC#, services run ok, etc... but with no success with VC# so far. Again, on the same machine the VWD shows the dialog with sql server option regularly, but VC# shows only 3 options in "Change data source" dialog (1. Microsoft Access Database File (OLE DB) 2. Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5, 3. Microsoft SQL Server Database File) Any idea? Thanks in advice, Phil

However, when I call ShowDialog, I want to pass the owner window which is an IWin32Window. How do I get this from my WPF control? Actually, does it matter? If I use a JTextArea with MigLayout like this: MigLayout thisLayout = new MigLayout("", "[][grow]", "[]20[]"); this.setLayout(thisLayout); { jLabel1 = new JLabel(); this.add(jLabel1, "cell 0 0"); jLabel1.setText("jLabel1"); } { jTextArea1 = new JTextArea(); this.add(jTextArea1, "cell 0 1 2 1,growx"); jTextArea1.setText("jTextArea1"); jTextArea1.setLineWrap(false); } then the JTextArea grows and shrinks perfectly when resizing the window.   Hello all, I created a window application, which has a tabbar controller with four tabbar items. Each tabbar items are linked with a tableview. I have also set Navigation bar for each tabbar items. I have appdelegate file, which calls the first tableview controller of which is set for first tabbar item. I am trying to retrieve and do an action whenever a tabbar item is clicked. For that, i tried to add "- (void)tabBar:(UITabBar *)tabBar didSelectItem:(UITabBarItem *)item" and "- (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UITableViewController *)viewController" in my first tableview controller, but it is not at all responding whenever i click any tabbar items. My question is, if i create a window based application and added tabbar controller, tableview and navigation bar in .XIB file, is it not possible to access and do an action programatically whenever a tabbar item is clicked? (or) Am i doing anything wrong? Please help me to resolve this and share your ideas. Thanks.

  In one of controllers in my Grails application I'm preserving a parameter value in a session variable like this: session.myVariable = params.myValue After that, I can access the saved value from different controllers/GSP-pages as long as I actively use the app. However, if I don't use my app for a while, even though my browser window is still open, the session variable looses it's value. Does this happens because the session expires? I was under impression that a session lives until the browser window is still open, but apparently I was wrong. What should I do to ensure all session variables I define in my Grails app don't expire until the browser is closed? Is there any way to set session timeout manually?   I've just started learning VB.NET with VS 9.0; a small application I'm working on keeps returning an "A first chance exception of type System InvalidOperationException occurred in System Windows Forms dll" error from the Immediate Window. The application has almost zero functionality so far, it consists of a menu strip with: File About |Open |Save |Save As |Quit The only code I have written opens an Open File dialog, a Save As dialog, an About window with background sound and an OK button, and the Quit button which exits. Since there is almost no code for me to search through, I can't understand why there would be an error. The program runs just fine when I'm debugging it too.
