  • P/Invoke a Function Passed a StringBuilder

    in a C# file i have a class Archiver { [DllImport("Archiver.dll")] public static extern void archive(string data, StringBuilder response); } string data is an input, and StringBuilder response is where the function writes something the archive function prototype (written in C) looks like this: void archive(char * dataChr, char * outChr); and it receives a string in dataChr, and then does a strcpy(outChr,"some big text"); from C# i call it something like this: string message = "some text here"; StringBuilder response = new StringBuilder(10000); Archiver.archive(message,response); this works, but the problem, as you might see is that i give a value to the StringBuilder size, but the archive function might give back a (way) larger text than the size i've given to my StringBuilder. any way to fix this?

  • Why am I getting two section headers on this grouped table?

    I'm sure this is some easy-to-fix issue that I've missed, but I can't figure it out. I've got a grouped table view with 3 sections. I'm using the following code to generate section headers: -(NSString*)tableView:(UITableView*)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 0) { NSString *header = @"Header 1"; return header; } if (section == 1) { NSString *header = @"Header 2"; return header; } else { NSString *header = @"Header 3"; return header; } } When my table is displayed, there are two headers for each section - one with white text on a gray bar that stretches across the screen (like the letter separators in the Contacts app), and one in gray text on the table background (which is the one I want). Both headers have identical text. Where is the first header coming from?

    Coming from Perl, I sure am missing the "here-document" means of creating a multi-line string in source code: $string = <<"EOF" # create a three line string text text text EOF In Java I have to have cumbersome quotes and plus signs on every line as I concatenate my multiline string from scratch. What are some better alternatives? Define my string in a properties file? Edit: Two answers say StringBuilder.append() is preferable to the plus notation. Could anyone elaborate as to why they think so? It doesn't look more preferable to me at all. I'm looking for away around the fact that multiline strings are not a first-class language construct, which means I definitely don't want to replace a first-class language construct (string concatenation with plus) with method calls. Edit: To clarify my question further, I'm not concerned about performance at all. I'm concerned about maintainability and design issues.

  • Chrome Extension contenteditable get and set caret position

    I am creating an extension where I need to insert a link into the gmail window. I am able to create a simple extension button in the top of the window and execute code that does replaces all the links. Now, I want to do add links in the contenteditable section as I type. It seems like there should be a simple way to replace text with a link in the document object model. If this is not true I need to do three things. Insert text from the current caret position Capture the caret position. Set the caret position by its offset. I have tried using window.getSelection within the gmail context(that is a body element that is set to contenteditable and embedded inside an iframe in the gmail tab) to get the current range and position. The selection is always empty and contains no ranges regardless of whether text is selected or not.

The program has 3 buttons: 1) for folder browsing, 2) scan for the selected folder content, and 3) open the file. When user browse the selected folder*(1), user click scan button to scan from the first file until the last available files and listed it text box(2)* and from that user can decide whether to open the files or not*(3)*. Ive been getting reports form people who try accessing my site from a PS3, that every page appears like a jumble of random characters on a white background, sorta like echoing out a gzipped string as plain text. Im using nginx. Does the PS3 browser not support gzipping? Anything I can do except disabling it?

    Is there a simple way in MS Word to get large quotation marks tightly round a paragraph of text, like you might see in print media to mark a quote? If you simply increase the font size of the quote character, it moves too far away from the text it's accompanying. Worse, the first and last lines start to detach from the rest of the paragraph.   • Div, Background Image, and Image Map

    On a web page I'm creating, I have a div with a background image. I overlay some text over the image that I'll be changing frequently, so that's why I'm using a background image and real text instead of an img tag that contains the text. The background image contains some click-able areas, so I need an image map. I think the best way to do this is to have another overlay div with a transparent image, and have an image map for the transparent image that corresponds to the background area click-able areas. Am I on the right track, or is there a better way?

  • In Delphi, Is there a way to adjust the line spacing of a TMemo?

    I'm working with a TMemo component to display some text in a limited space. Currently it's using a truetype font which doesn't ship with windows and is installed by the app when it runs. On my PC (Running Windows XP), the spacing between each line of text seems to be about eight pixels. On a different PC running Windows 7, the line spacing seems to be about 14 pixels, which is pushing the bottom row of text out of visibility on the memo. So, My question is really this: Is this caused by the different versions of Windows? It's all I could think that was different. Is there some way I can adjust this value so it would be consistent across all instances of the application, wherever it was running? Alternatatively, is there a different component I could use which might let me tweak this value?

  • ms excel find and replace @ symbol results in broken formula

    I'm trying to search and replace in excel, the column is formatted as 'Text'. Find: [@ replace with: @ Whenever this finds a match at the start of a cell i.e the cell contents start with [@ and tries to replace that with @ the result is an error 'This function is not valid' I guess that since the @ operator is for references, this is causing the cell to be interpreted differently (not as text anymore) How do I make this replacement work? Copy/paste into another program is not a good option because some of the cells contain line-breaks.

I'm aware of the possibility of adding the file type in the registry but that will give only a plain-text view of the files, not a parsed view. HTML viewing is a must for what I need, attachments are optional. Is there some top-notch E-Mail client that introduces this functionality? Is there a generic way of doing this?

  • How to set html content in Moodialog

    Hello, i've just downloaded Moodialog, a Mootools plugin for dialog, but i have a problem. If content is set via parameters it will be text and not html. Can you help me change the function to accept html? I suppose that this is the code to be edit. setContent: function(){ var content = Array.from(arguments); if (content.length == 1) content = content[0]; this.content.empty(); var type = typeOf(content); if (['string', 'number'].contains(type)) this.content.set('text', content); else this.content.adopt(content); return this; }, I tried to edit 'text' in 'html', but it will not work.   • Where to split a string literal

    Every time I have to split a long string literal into two (or more) pieces, because it does not fit into a single line, I have to decide if I split the text before or after a space. For example: const char * long_text1 = "This is a long text, which does not fit " "in one line"; /* or */ const char * long_text2 = "This is a long text, which does not fit" " in one line"; I tend to use the first way, but I do not have a real reason for it. So I wonder is there any advantage to favor one of them? I know this questions tend to be coding style question, but that's not my intend. I only want to know if there is a convincing reason why one of those two ways might be preferable.

    Comment pointed out that this may fix my problem, and it did: Why don't mails show up in the recipient's mailspool? I use Postfix with Dovecot, and when I send an email from my gmail to my server, it is received at the server, but not at my email client using POP3. I can verify it being received at the server using the mail command.
