• Ajax auto-populate from field when another form field is filled out

  Has anyone used javascript/ajax to take data from one form field and put it into another? I'm trying to create a form that when one text input is filled out a second is auto-populated with the first letter of the word that is in the first text input. I'm thinking I can limit the second text input to one character to help get the desired result, but I'm not having luck finding the javascript to get the second text input to auto-populate from the first. Any suggestions?

• returning aligned memory with new?

  I currently allocate my memory for arrays using the MS specific mm_malloc. I align the memory, as I'm doing some heavy duty math and the vectorization takes advantage of the alignment. I was wondering if anyone knows how to overload the new operator to do the same thing, as I feel dirty malloc'ing everywhere (and would eventually like to also compile on Linux)? Thanks for any help

  I'd like to censor some words in a string by replacing each character in the word with a "*". Basically I would want to do String s = "lorem ipsum dolor sit"; s = s.replaceAll("ipsum|sit", $0.length() number of *)); so that the resulting s equals "lorem ***** dolor ***". I know how to do this with repeated replaceAll invokations, but I'm wondering, is this possible to do with a single replaceAll?

  Is postresql capable of doing a full text search, based on 'half' a word? For example i'm trying to seach foor tree, but i tell postgres to search for 'tr'. I can't find such a solution that is capable of doing this.   I have a file directory which could look like either C:\projects\lab3\test\test.java or C:\projects\assignment3\test\test.java But the "lab3" or "assignment3" can appear anywhere in the directory, it is not a set directory What i want is to check to see if the directory either contains "lab" or "assignment" and get the number that follows. In this case "3" This is what i have so far if(directory.toLowerCase().contains("lab")){ } else if (directory.toLowerCase().contains("assignment")){ } but i do not know how to check for the char straight after the word?

• How can I change the color of build output in a shell window?

  I have a build process which runs from a batch file. It produces a large volume of text. Sometimes it prints the word "Error" or "Warning" followed by a message. The errors and warnings are getting lost among a sea of text. Can I highlight those words in a different color, maybe in a dos window, or a cygwin shell window, possibly by piping them through some string manipulation program before posting them to the screen?   I am reading a file that sometimes has chinese and characters of languages other than english. How can I write a regex that only reads english words/letters? should it just be /^[a-zA-Z]+/ ? If I do the above then words like eété will still be picked but I don't want them to be picked: "été".match(/^[a-zA-Z]+/) => #nil good I didnt want that word "eété".match(/^[a-zA-Z]+/) => #not nil tricked into picking something i did not want

Table A has following columns: id name description Table B has the following columns: id a_id(foreign key to Table A) ip_address date Basically Table B contains a row for each time a user views a row from Table A.
