  I need to output a cell to an excel file. Before this I need to convert a date column of integers to datestrings. I know how to do this, but I am not able to put this new string array back into the cell - mycell = { 'AIR' [780] [1] [734472] [0.01] ; ... 'ABC' [780] [1] [734472] [0.02]} I did this -- dates = datestr(cell2mat(mycell(:,4))) ; What I need as an answer is: {'AIR' [780] [1] '14-Dec-2010' [0.01] ; 'ABC' [780] [1] '23-Dec-2010' [0.03] ; } so that I can now send it to an excel file using xlswrite.m

  When writing unit tests, there are cases where one can create an Assert for each condition that could fail or an Assert that would catch all such conditions. There's more work involved (if you have lots of unit tests) but it will be more immediately clear where the problem lies.   I've got some non-copyable classes. I don't invoke any of the copy operators or constructor, and this code compiles fine. But then I upgraded to Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate instead of Professional. Now the compiler is calling the copy constructor- even when the move constructor should be invoked. For example, in the following snippet: inline D3D9Mesh CreateSphere(D3D9Render& render, float radius, float slices) { D3D9Mesh retval(render); /* ... */ return std::move(retval); } Error: Cannot create copy constructor, because the class is non-copyable. However, I quite explicitly moved it.

• Having trouble with Flash, Javascript and JQuery

  I'm using JQuery with the JQuery flash plugin (http://jquery.lukelutman.com/plugins/flash/) and trying to send a JS call back to the flash, I keep running into "xxx is not a function" so apparently something is off. I'm new to JQuery and very new to this jquery flash plugin and just can't quite wrap my head around what I am doing wrong.   Hello all, I am using Linq 2 Sql in VS 2010, and I have the following stored procedure to check a username and password ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.CheckUser ( @username varchar(50), @password varchar(50) ) AS SELECT * FROM Users Where UserName=@username AND Password=@password The problem I'm having is that it throws an exception if the username and password are incorrect. I'd like to perform a check to see if there is a return value, rather than using try/catch to determine whether the procedure returned a value. Should I do this check in code (C#)? Or is there a way to do it in SQL? Thanks.

  I have looked into the binaries produced by MSVC 2010 from my source code, and saw everything being filled with "junk". I don't know how to explain, but my executables are being added too much unnecessary information, like: Lots of Microsoft default error messages, I don't want them XML schema settings (Why!?) Other things not important for the execution of the main program How can I stop MSVC doing this? Do I have to switch to GCC? In all other programs (written in C++ too, from Word processors to games), this junk simply doesn't exist.

At the end of the test, the test-engine will evaluate the answers. If the student obtains more than 50% then he can unlock the next module. And his test score is printed using Crystal Reports and saved in teacher's database, against that student's record. Else, if his score is less than 50%, the test-engine will count the no. of attempts to clear the quiz & randomly generate another set of 20 questions from a file (from the teacher's database).   I'm writing a macro in Visual Basic for PowerPoint 2010. I'd like to initialize a really big list of strings like: big_ol_array = Array( _ "string1", _ "string2", _ "string3", _ "string4" , _ ..... "string9999" _ ) ...but I get the "Too many line continuations" error in the editor. When I try to just initialize the big array with no line breaks, the VB editor can't handle such a long line (1000+) characters. • Reading a WAV file into VST.Net to process with a plugin

  Hello, I'm trying to use the VST.Net and NAudio frameworks to build an application that processes audio using a VST plugin. Ideally, the application should load a wav or mp3 file, process it with the VST, and then write a new file. I have done some poking around with the VST.Net library and was able to compile and run the samples (specifically the VST Host one). What I have not figured out is how to load an audio file into the program and have it write a new file back out. I'd like to be able to configure the properties for the VST plugin via C#, and be able to process the audio with 2 or more consecutive VSTs. Using NAudio, I was able to create this simple script to copy an audio file. • ASP.NET Applications Requests/Sec suddenly jumps to a value of about 70 million/sec. on 8 core web

  We are doing performance testing of an ASP.NET web application with VSTS 2008. We start with 2000 users and slowly ramp up to 5000 users (reaches this user load at around 2.5 hours after the tests start, after this we stay at this user load). The total test duration is of about 6 hours During these runs we have found that the counter Requests/Sec (under category ASP.NET applications) suddenly spikes to a values of 36-72 millions !!!. This keeps on happening intermittently i.e we see this issue once in every 3 performance runs that we give on the same application. In our testing environment we have 4 web servers and interestingly enough we have found that this issue occurs only in the 8 core web servers. Summarizing ... Issue : The counter Requests/Sec (under category ASP.NET Applications) suddenly jumps to a value of about 70 million/sec. on 8 core web servers. This results in an increase in SQL server connections opened by the application. Response time goes for a toss. Error rates also show similar behaviour. However the counter ISAPI Extention Requests/sec does not show any abnormal increase. The graph of this counter almost overlaps with that of counter Requests/Sec till the time of the appearance of the spike.When the spike appears , this counter (ISAPI Extention Requests/sec) actually shows a drop. Test Settings : Performance test run with Visual Studio Team System 2008. Soak test run for 6 hours. Maximum user load 5000 users. This is load is attained at about 2.5 hours into the run and mainted for remaining duration.(i.e for around 3.5 more hrs) This issue is reproducible though happens intermittently. (i.e occurs one in three or four runs) Test Environment : Web site deployed on 4 Web Servers (Windows Server 2003). Of these 2 are 4 core machines and the remaining 2 are 8 core ones. .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed on all 4 web servers. Application hosted on IIS 6.0 run in Worker process isolation mode.

• C# file write permission issue under "Program Files" folder

  Hello everyone, I am using inno setup to make a installation package for my application, and my application is written by C# + .Net 2.0 + VSTS 2008. Inno setup = http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php and I install my application under Program Files/Foo folder (Foo is my application name). My application is targeting to Windows Vista. The issue I found is my program cannot write to the folder Program Files/Foo. And I need the permission of write to this folder in order to save some configuration files. The strange thing I notice is the folder Program Files/Foo is marked as readonly and I have checked all folders under Program Files are marked with read only, such as Office. My questions are, Why all folders are marked as read only under Program Files? It means we should not write to individual application folders under Program Files? If not, where should we write information to disk like user last selected configuration information of an individual application? If we could write to individual application folders under Program Files, what is the solution? I do not want my application to Run As administrator to solve this issue, and if there are solution to write to this folder, I want to require minimal permission if possible. thanks in advance, George

  I'm using VSTS 2K8 and I've set up a Unit Test Project. In it, I have a test class with a method that does a simple assertion. I'm using an Excel 2007 spreadsheet as my data source. • Enforce link in Team foundation server bug work item for duplicates

  We have just started out with Team Foundation Server 2008 / Visual Studio Team System and we are pleased to find how we can export and modify work items to our needs. However, this last thing that would make the setup perfect for us has proved somewhat difficult: We have exported the Bug work item type and have made modifications to it to appear differently to different groups of users. We do, however, see a potential problem in non-developers reporting bugs which turn out to be duplicates. We would like to enforce that users who close a ticket with resolved reason:duplicate also creates a link to the bug which is perceived as the first bug report. I have looked at System.RelatedLinkCount, and put the rule <FIELD type="Integer" name="RelatedLinkCount" refname="System.RelatedLinkCount"> <WHEN field="Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ResolvedReason" value="duplicate"> <PROHIBITEDVALUES> <LISTITEM value="0" /> </PROHIBITEDVALUES> </WHEN> </FIELD> However, when I try to put anything in that scope, the importer tells me that System.RelatedLinkCount does not accept the rule, no matter what I put, but the rule above shows what I am trying to do (even though the most preferable rule would also check that the bug that I link to is not a duplicate as well, though this is overkill :P) Has anyone else tried to enforce rules like this in work items? Is there another approach to solving the same issue? I am thankful for any thoughts on the matter.

• A basic load test question

  I have a very basic load test question. I am running a load test using VSTS 2008 and I have test rig with controller + 10 agents. This load test is against a SharePoint farm I have. My goal of the load test is to find out the resource utilization on web+app+db tiers of my farm for any given load scenario. An example of a load scenario is Usage profile: Average collaboration (as defined by SCCP) User Load: 500 (using step load pattern=a step of 50 every 2 mins and a warm up time of 2mins for every step) Think time: 0 Load duration: 8hrs Now, the question is: Is it fair to expect that metrics like Requests/sec, %processor time on web front end / App / DB, Test/sec, and etc become flat or enter a steady state at one point in time during the load test. Like I said, the goal is not to create a bottleneck but to only measure the utilization of resources by the above load profile. I am asking this question because I see something different. At one point in the load test, requests/sec becomes more or less flat. But processor utilization on the web/DB servers keeps increasing. After digging through the data a bit, I see that "tests running" counter also steadily increased over time. So, if I run the load test for more than 8hrs, %processor may go up further. This way, I don't know what to consider as the load excreted by the load profile. What does this "tests running" counter really signify? How is this different from tests/sec?
