• stored procedure to find value in 2 columns out of 3

  I am putting in the samle date and i am supposed to do something similar what i am asking. I want to run a query that would pull values in any two columns out 3 if it has a 1 or if any one column has a 1 it will return just those results. However it should search all three columns and in any of the three columns where it found value as 1 it should return that result. Can anyone please help me with this. Thanks in advance. • passing array of structs from c# to regular dll

  Hi there I have a regular dll with the followign fucntion exported. extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) int FindNearestStuff(double _latitude, double _longitude , LocationStruct * locations[]) LocationStruct is very simple struct LocationStruct { long positionIndex; long item; }; I'm tryign to call it from c# using [DllImport("myclever.dll", CharSet = CharSet.None)] private static extern int FindNearestStuff(double _latitude, double _longitude, ref LocationStruct [] locations); Its all cool and funky and i can step into the dll function from the debugger. Inside the dll the LocationStruct array is populated correctly and all is very good. the problem i have is when it returns back from the dll, the LocationStruct array is not coming back with the data - just empty values... what am i missing? cheers Buzz

• PHP & MySQLi timeout

  Whenever I try to create a mysqli object, as in; $mysqli = new mysqli(host, user, pass, table); ...the page just loads for around a minute, then stops, showing all the content of the page up until that line. info() says that MySQLi (and MySQL if that matters) are enabled, and I can access the MySQL CLI. I'm also working on a local machine, not a remote server. I feel like I've missed something obvious. Can anyone shed some light on it? Edit: just for clarification, I am actually putting real values into the mysqli constructor :)

  Example: Table: box boxID color 01 red 02 blue 03 green Table: boxHas boxID has 01 apple 01 pear 01 grapes 01 banana 02 lime 02 apple 02 pear 03 chihuahua 03 nachos 03 baby crocodile I want to query on the contents of each box, and return a table with each ID, color, and a column that concatenates the contents of each box, so I use: SELECT box.boxID, box.color, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT boxHas.has SEPARATOR ", ") AS contents FROM box LEFT JOIN boxHas ON box.boxID=boxHas.boxID WHERE boxHas.has IN ('apple','pear') GROUP BY box.boxID ORDER BY box.boxID and I get the following table of results: boxID color contents 01 red apple, pear 02 blue apple, pear My question to you is: why isn't it listing ALL the has values in the contents column? Why is my WHERE statement also cropping my GROUP_CONCAT? The table I thought I was going to get is: boxID color contents 01 red apple, banana, grapes, pear 02 blue apple, lime, pear Although I want to limit my boxID results based upon the WHERE statement, I do not want to limit the contents field for valid boxes. :-/ Help?

  Hello, I want to be able to store -11.99 and +11.99 kind of values in mysql db I am thinking of decimals instead of varchar. But reading mysql site I found out that its incompatible with older versions of mysql As a result of the change from string to numeric format for DECIMAL storage, DECIMAL columns no longer store a leading + or - character or leading 0 digits. Before MySQL 5.0.3, if you inserted +0003.1 into a DECIMAL(5,1) column, it was stored as +0003.1. As of MySQL 5.0.3, it is stored as 3.1. For negative numbers, a literal - character is no longer stored. Applications that rely on the older behavior must be modified to account for this change. So what should be the data type, If I have to give up varchar and make it compatible with older versions too?

  I'm trying to get content from external feeds on my Django web site with Universal Feed Parser. I want to have some user error handling, e.g. if the user supplies a URL that is not a feed. When I tried how feedparser responds to faulty input, I was surprised to see that feedparser does not throw any Exceptions at all. E.g. on HTML content, it tries to parse some information from the HTML code, and on non-existing domains, it returns a mostly empty dictionary: {'bozo': 1, 'bozo_exception': URLError(gaierror(-2, 'Name or service not known'),), 'encoding': 'utf-8', 'entries': [], 'feed': {}, 'version': None} Other faulty input manifest themselves in the status_code or the namespaces values in the returned dictionary. So, what's the best approach to have sane error checking without resorting to an endless cascade of if .. elif .. elif ...?

• How can I search for numbers in a varchar column

  I've got a simple nvarchar(25) column in an SQL database table. Most of the time, this field should contain alphanumeric text. However, due to operator error, there are many instances where it contains only a number. Can I do a simple search in SQL to identify these cases? That is, determine which rows in the table contain only digits in this column. As an extension, could I also search for those column values which contain only digits and a space and/or slash. In other languages (eg. Perl, Java) a regular expression would resolve this quickly and easily. But I haven't been able to find the equivalent in SQL.

• Using LinqSql, stored procedure returns datatype image problem

  Hello! I´ve got a problem when using LINQ to execute a stored procedure and return its values. One of the column that the stored procedure returns is of datatype image and contains a pdf in binary form.(this because the database is deployed on sql server 2000, otherwised i would choose a blob) When including the stored procedure in my linq class its generates that my pdf columns is datatype int in the designer class. I´ve work around the problem and manually changed the datatype in representation of the stored procedure in the designer class. But when adding/removing items in the linq class the designer file re-generates and my changes are lost. Are there any better solution for my problem??

• richfaces keepAlive not working

  I have a mediaOutput tag which, in its createContent attribute, requires the backing bean to be in a certain state. A list of values, which is filled in an init method, must be available. I therefore added a keepAlive tag for the whole backing bean. I now indeed see the backingBean in stead of some (richfaces) proxy bean, but the filled list is null again. How to make this possible? • MySQL indexes: how do they work?

  I'm a complete newbie with MySQL indexes. I have several MyISAM tables on MySQL 5.0x having utf8 charsets and collations with 100k+ records each. The primary keys are generally integer. Many columns on each table may have duplicate values. I need to quickly count, sum, average, or otherwise perform custom calculations on any number of fields in each table or joined on any number of others. I found this page giving an overview of MySQL index usage: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/mysql-indexes.html, but I'm still not sure I'm using indexes right. Just when I think I've made the perfect index out of a collection of fields I want to calculate against, I get the "index must be under 1000 bytes" error. Can anyone explain how to most efficiently create and use indexes to speed up queries? Caveat: upgrading Mysql is not possible in this case. Using Navicat Light for db administration, but this app isn't required.

• In the java DBCP connection pool - what is an idle connection?

  A colleague at work insists that a DBCP idle connection is a connection that has lain unused for 30 minutes. I believe a dbcp idle connection is a connection that is in the pool available to be borrowed, and an active connection is one that is borrowed. Looking through the code I found no reference to 30 minutes or other magic values and a cursory glance through the code for assuring minidle does not show any such logic. If he is correct can you please back that up with a code or documentation reference. For the complete answer I would like it answered for both DBCP 1.1 and 1.6.

• Strange centering problem in Firefox and IE8

  The navigation bar on my site http://hungryathome.net doesn't center properly on Firefox and IE8 Standards mode. It centers properly in IE7 Compatability mode and in Chrome. What's odd is that setting a Margin on the div (id="navlinks") to 4px or more will make it center properly. Any less will result in it being slightly off-center. I changed the values back and forth in Firebug and it's confusing the heck out of me. Any explanation for why that's happening?

  I have a history table and I need to select the values from this table in ColumnName, ColumnValue form. I am using SQL Server 2008 and I wasn’t sure if I could use the PIVOT function to accomplish this.   An action method in my ASP.NET MVC2 application returns a JsonResult object and in my unit test I would like to check that the returned JSON object indeed contains the expected values. I tried this: 1. dynamic json = ((JsonResult)myActionResult).Data; 2. Assert.AreEqual(JsonMessagesHelper.ErrorLevel.ERROR.ToString(), json.ErrorLevel); But I get a RuntimeBinderException "'object' does not contain a definition for 'ErrorLevel'". However, when I place a breakpoint on line 2 and inspect the json dynamic variable (see picture below), it obviously does contain the ErrorLevel string and it has the expected value, so if the runtime binder wasn't playing funny the test would pass. What am I not getting? What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this? How can I make the assertion pass?

  I'm using Jasper Reports/iReports crosstabs to create a matrix of student and results. So for example Jim is doing subjects A, B, C and Sally is doing A, C What I want is something like: Subj-A Subj-B Subj-C Jim P M D Sally D D But as my SQL orders by name then subject I get: Subj-A Subj-B Subj-C Subj-A Subj-C Jim P M D Sally D D As you can see in the above the results are correct but the formatting is woeful. Is there anyway I can generate the reports to use names and subject only once and filling in the values from here? This probably isn't clear.

• Adding ivars to NSManagedObject subclass

  When I create an entity using core data then generate a subclass of NSManagedObject from it I get the following output (in the .h): @class Foo; @interface Foo : NSManagedObject @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSSet *otherValues; @end However, in my .m file I want to make use of the name and otherValues values. Normally I would simply create a couple of ivars and then add the properties for them as I required. That way I can access them in my .m file easily. In this situation would it be acceptable to do this? Would adding ivars to the .h (for name and otherValues) cause any unusual behaviour in the persistance & retrieval of objects?

• Why is floating point byte swapping different from integer byte swapping?

  I have a binary file of doubles that I need to load using C++. However, my problem is that it was written in big-endian format but the fstream operator will then read the number wrong because my machine is little-endian. It seems like a simple problem to resolve for integers, but for doubles and floats the solutions I have found won't work. How can I (or should I) fix this? • Firefox XUL toolbar with javascript to IE?

  Hi, I have developed a Firefox toolbar in XUL, which uses javascript to manipulate the DOM. I'd like to export this to IE. I know that IE doesn't support XUL, but wonder: (1) is there an easy way to use the existing javascript code for the IE toolbar as well? (2) is there a IE installer that easily creates all necessary registry values for creating a toolbar? I'd be grateful for any help. If anyone can point me to a sample IE toolbar code, with several buttons, drop-down menus and perhaps even a search box, that'll make things much easier as well. Thanks!

When I click a button, I need to check the label, versus all the list items to find the matching one, when it finds that I need to assign the corresponding number.   I'm trying to refactor a class and set of subclasses where the M type does extend anything, even though we know it has to be a subclass of a certain type. That type is parametrized and I would like its parametrized types to be available to subclasses that already have values for M. Is there any way to define this class without having to include the redundant K and V generic types in the parameter list. I'd like to be able to have the compiler infer them from whatever M is mapped to by subclasses. public abstract class NewParametrized<K, V, M extends SomeParametrized<K, V>> { public void someMethodThatTakesKAndV(K k1, V v1) { } } In other words, I'd like the class declaration to look something like: public class NewParametrized<M extends SomeParametrized<K, V>> { And K and V's types would be inferred from the definition of M.

Well, I would like to ask id you know what is the interpolator described in Material design: It looks to be an AccelerateDecelerateInterpolator but the deceleration effect decays slower.
