  Is there a way to use NSNumberFormatter to get the 'th' 'st' 'nd' 'rd' number endings? EDIT: Looks like it does not exist. • How can I hide the taxonomy field for authenticated users but show it for other users in Drupal 6?

  I have a Drupal (v6.17) Content Type which includes a Taxonomy field. I want to hide this from ordinary Authenticated Users, but want it available to my Site Contributor role users, so they can review and then assign tags to user-created nodes. I've tried overriding the Node Add/Edit form in Panels 3 by creating a panel variant especially for Authenticated Users, which would exclude the Taxonomy field. However, the Taxonomy field is bundled in with the "General Form" controls - without showing this, I don't get the Title and Body fields. Is there a way I can either include the Title and Body fields without Taxonomy, OR hide just the Taxonomy field when the authenticated user role creates a node. I realise there's a CCK field which might be able to help me out here, but how do I tie that to the Taxonomy module? Any help gratefully received.

  I'm a lone developer at the moment; please share you experiences on what is a good VC setup for a lone developer. My constraints are; I work on multiple machines and need to keep them synced up Sometimes I work offline I'm currently using Subversion(just the client to a remote server), and that is working ok. I'm interested in mecurial and git DVCS, but none of their use-cases make sense to my situation. EDIT: I've migrated my active development to Fossil http://www.fossil-scm.org/ after trialing it with a client. I really like the features to autosync my repositories(reducing accidental forks), the documentation support(both wiki and embedded/versioned) that supports my need to document the code and the project in different spaces, the easy to configure issue tracker, nice access control, skinnable web interface and helpful community.

• Prevent status bar from receiving touch events

  Edit After further testing, it appears that the part of my button that are not clickable are where the status bar used to be. I'm hiding the status bar with : // -- Override point for customization after app launch [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES]; But it's still receiving touches. Any idea on how to disable this? Is there's a bounding box on an application that receives touch events? I created a few sample round rect buttons and placed them in different places in my view. The ones in the center of the view receive touch events (and show the highlighted blue color) but if I place a button near the edges of the view, only parts of them are clickable in the simulator. Is this because of Apples style guidelines? I placed a button exactly where a UITabNavigationItem would appear and only the bottom half of it is clickable.

  I have a dynamically generated form that allows users to enter new data and edit existing data. When the form is submitted, it collates the input values and groups them according to whether they are new or not, the former being denoted by class="new-entry". So the function generates two arrays: updateData and insertData. Both arrays are of similar formats: [ 0: { 'id' = 1, 'value' = foo }, 1: { 'id' = 1, 'value' = 'bar' }, etc... ] I am combining them into a new array object to send via ajax to the controller: var postData = { 'update_data': updateData, 'insert_data': insertData }; Then in the ajax call: $.post(url, postData, function() { // some code }); However, in the controller, doing print_r($this->input->post()) or print_r($_POST) as a test only returns Array(). Even $this->input->post('update_data') returns nothing. How can I retrieve these arrays in the controller?

  Hello, I am new to this, I just reading about how I should not edit code on the live production server. I don't know anything about source control or SVN. I would like to start coding on a test server then once everything is confirmed working, I want to send all the files over to the production server. How should I go about this?   Is getJSON only useful for those who control a server? Is there any other alternative for getting data from a file? i tried $.getJSON("good.json", function(data){ out=out+"good.json: "+data + ","; }); where good.json = {"a":"1","b":"2"} and got a result of 'null' for data. These all are valid JSON files, and all give null when used in the above: good.htm assoc.json assoc.js stub.json stub.js test.js test.txt and all get a null result... • FBConnect stream.publish with iphone unknown response?

  Hi All, I am using stream.publish to publish some info to a users wall. This all works fine. I am not using FBStreamDialog because i do not want the user to be able to edit the message..... So i have set up my own UI. It all works fine and the stream is published to the users wall, the only issue is that i do not understand the result obtained from the delegate method: - (void)request:(FBRequest*)request didLoad:(id)result { NSLog(@"result = %@", result); } I need to understand what the result is telling me so that i can handle any errors. Currently the following is being printed in the console but i do not know what this means: result = 100000874992250_117813161591916 Any help or advice regarding this issue would be highly appreciated.   I know this may end up getting closed quickly. I could not find this in my searching through APIs. And this is probably a very simple question but here we go... How do you store data on a google application you create in which you and others in a specific group or more specifically the people who can edit a specific calendar, can reach this data? Person A,B,C have read/write access to a calendar, and lets say they want to co-ordinate information. I want this information to not be accessible to modify by all 3 though it is not stored in a calendar? (Though I thought about just creating an event in 1900 and then that fullfills that, but at the same time is a very hack way to do it) I would appreciate any insight you can give me when it comes to data handling in google applications, I am very new to it, but have been looking into it.

• Effects of the `extern` keyword on C functions

  In C I did not notice any effect of the extern keyword used before function declaration. At first I thougth that when defining extern int f(); in a single file forces you to implement it outside of the files scope, however I found out that both extern int f(); int f() {return 0;} And extern int f() {return 0;} Compiles just fine, with no warnings from gcc. I used gcc -Wall -ansi, he wouldn't even accept // comments. Are there any effects for using extern before function definitions? Or is it just an optional keyword with no side effects for functions. In the latter case I don't understand why did the standard designers chose to litter the grammar with superfluous keywords. EDIT: to clarify, I know there's usage for extern in variables, but I'm only asking about extern in functions.

  I realize that this is a subjective question, so I've marked it as a community wiki. I think that it is pretty specific to programming teams, though, so I've posted it here as opposed to somewhere else. I'm leading a small game development team (four people) as a side project. We are a disjoint team, with everyone in different places, but we do have some of the mainstays of an organized team. Source Control Continuous Integration Bug Tracking Document Workspace Regular Meetings Calendar / Schedule How do you keep your small, disjoint teams on-track? I tend to agree with Joel's opinion about when and how to micromanage and know that my team is motivated, but it can be easy to fall off-course when everyone isn't connected in a physical way and doesn't see what other people on the team are doing. Suggestions, feedback, or criticisms are welcome! Edit: I'm managing the team; I'm not looking for automated tools or anything to do my job for me, just ideas for approach or process that might help everyone feel more "connected" and involved.

• AssociationTypeMismatch with Expected Type on Nested Model Forms

  I'm getting this exception when doing a nested model form: ActiveRecord::AssociationTypeMismatch in RecipesController#update Ingredient(#35624480) expected, got Ingredient(#34767560) The models involved are Recipe and Ingredient. Recipe has_many and accepts_nested_attributes_for :ingredients, which belongs_to :recipe. I get this exception when attempting to _destroy (=1) one of the preexisting Ingredients on a nested Ingredient form for the Recipe Edit/Update. This makes very little sense, mostly because the association types are as expected (by the exception's own admission). What makes even less sense is that it works just fine in a functional test. Any ideas what might be causing this, or what I should be looking for?

  I'm using LyX to write some Relational Algebra queries. I'm using the \bowtie symbol for the join operation but when I try to put a text in subscript directly under the symbol, I get the following error: ...a_{\t{pId}}\t{person}\right)\bowtie\limits {\t{pId}{1}=\t{pId}_{2}... I'm ignoring this misplaced \limits or \nolimits command. Anyone knows how to do what I want? Preferably in LyX, but ERT code snippets will also be appreciated. Thanks!   I've setup the following: Installed Mylyn in Eclipse Installed the Bugzilla connector Installed Subversive SVN Integration for the Mylyn Project I've gone to Windows - Preferences - Tasks - Team and clicked Change Set Management and left it with the default Commit Comment Template: ${task.status} - ${connector.task.prefix} ${task.key}: ${task.description} ${task.url} However, if I activate a bugzilla bug in the Task List, and then edit a file, when I commit the changes the commit message isn't filled in. Also, in the Synchronisation perspective there isn't a change set for the task I'm working on. I've tried following the instructions on the Eclipse wiki's Mylyn FAQ for Why does task change set not appear when I modify files? but the bullet point: * Verify that the configured Synchronize View is configured for change sets. points to a section that is no longer in the document. I have a Show Change Sets button, but clicking it only shows me incoming change sets, there aren't any outgoing change sets. What am I missing?

• Cannot loop through Excel 2003 files in SSIS 2008

  Hi, I am trying to execute a SSIS 2008 package on a 64-bit OS and import Excel 2003 files to SQL Server 2008. I have created an OLEDB Connection to the Excel file with a Connection String that retrieves the Excel file from a variable, inside the ForEach Loop Container. The Run64BitRunTime is set to false. I am not able to edit the SQL Command on the OLEDB Source in the Data Flow task. It returns an error : Error 2 Validation error. Load List Staged Table: Load List Staged Table: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "List OLEDB to Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. 0 0 Appreciate any help.

• Reducing the pain writing integration and system tests

  I would like to make integration tests and system tests for my applications but producing good integration and system tests have often needed so much effort that I have not bothered. The few times I tried, I wrote custom, application-specific test harnesses, which felt like re-inventing the wheel each time. I wonder if this is the wrong approach. Is there a "standard" approach to integration and full system testing? EDIT: To clarify, it's automated tests, for desktop and web applications. Ideally a complete test suite that exercises the full functionality of the application.

• How can I work around the fact that in C++, sin(3.14159265) is not 0?

  In C++, const double Pi = 3.14159265; cout << sin(Pi); // displays: 3.58979e-009 it SHOULD display the number zero I understand this is because Pi is being approximated, but is there any way I can have a value of Pi hardcoded into my program that will return 0 for sin(Pi)? (a different constant maybe?) In case you're wondering what I'm trying to do: I'm converting polar to rectangular, and while there are some printf() tricks I can do to print it as "0.00", it still doesn't consistently return decent values (in some cases I get "-0.00") The lines that require sin and cosine are: x = r*sin(theta); y = r*cos(theta); BTW: My Rectangular - Polar is working fine... it's just the Polar - Rectangular Thanks! edit: I'm looking for a workaround so that I can print sin(some multiple of Pi) as a nice round number to the console (ideally without a thousand if-statements)

Let's say these are 3 elements in 3 documents: { "id" : "783587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "joey", "sort" : 100.0 } { "id" : "358734ff6", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jill", "sort" : 110.0 } { "id" : "abf587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jack", "sort" : 120.0 } A view retrieves all "aList" documents and displays them sorted by "sort". Now I want to move the elements, when I want to move "jack" to the middle, I could do this atomic in one write and change it's sort key to 105.0. The view now returns the documents in the new sort order. After a lot of sorting I could end up with sort keys like 50.99999 and 50.99998 after some years and in extreme situations run out of digits? What can you recommend, is there a better way to do this? I'd rather keep the elements in seperate documents. Different users might edit different elements in parallel (which also can get tricky). Maybe there is a much better way?

• ASP.NET control event handler not firing on postback?

  I have a control which has an ImageButton which is tied to an OnClick event... Upon clicking this control, a postback is performed and the event handler is not called. AutoEventWireup is set to true, and I've double checked spelling etc.... We haven't touched this control in over a year and it has been working fine until a couple of weeks ago. We have made changes to controls which load this control... so I'm wondering, what kind of changes could we have made to stop this event handler from being called? There is quite a bit of Javascript going on, so this could be the culprit too... Edit: Some clarification... we are dynamically loading the parent control of the ImageButton in the OnLoad event of the page... if that makes sense.
