  I have a web application, which works fine if I include my user controls with <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" TagName="MyUC1" Src="~/UserControls/MyUc1.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" TagName="MyUC2" Src="~/UserControls/MyUc2.ascx" %> But I need to use the namespace due to needing to integrate with Umbraco. When I replace the register declaration with: <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" Namespace="MyAssembly.UserControls" Assembly="MyAssembly"%> I get a null reference exception in the UserControl's Page_Load event (which references an ASP.NET control which is used by the UserControl itself. I find this pretty bizarre, but I've found very little information on how to fix it.

  Hi I've been trying to figure out how to create a context menu in VSTO 2007. I'm hoping that is possible. When I make this call. Dim commandBar As Microsoft.Office.Core.CommandBar = _word.CommandBars("Text") I get the following error. This object model command is not available in e-mail. I've look all over and from what I can tell it's not possible to add to the context menu in Office 2007. This doesn't seem right. I've also tried this event without any luck since it isn't being fired when right clicking on the MailItem ItemContextMenuDisplay(ByVal commandBar As Microsoft.Office.Core.CommandBar, ByVal selection As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Selection) Hoping that someone can help. • Mark row as deleted in dataTable on UserDeletingRow

  I have a datatable bound to a winforms dataGridView via a BindingSourceControl. I want to be able handle the UserDeletingRow event from the dataGridView and mark the row in my dataTable as deleted. I need to then be able to retrieve the rows marked as deleted from the datatable so that I can delete them from my database when a Save button is clicked. Please not I dont want to delete from the database on each firing of UserDeletingRow, only mark that row as deleted in my dataset. Can anyone point out how to do this?

• Change NSButton Background Image more than once per second

  I am currently working with the iPhone SDK. I have a NSTimer that changes the background image of a NSButton. Once this is complete, it will trigger the same action again (reset the NSTimer) for a predetermined number of times. My problem is that if my NSTimer is set to execute more than once per second. (0.75, say) The background image wont change. I am using NSLog to check that the event fires. But the button image will just remain in its original state. Is there any way to change the background image more often than once per second? Thanks.

  I previously have been reading NMEA data from a GPS via a serial port using C#. Now I'm doing something similar, but instead of GPS from a serial. I'm attempting to read a KISS Statement from a TNC. I'm using this event handler. comport.DataReceived += new SerialDataReceivedEventHandler(port_DataReceived); Here is port_DataReceived. private void port_DataReceived(object sender, SerialDataReceivedEventArgs e) { string data = comport.ReadExisting(); sBuffer = data; try { this.Invoke(new EventHandler(delegate { ProcessBuffer(sBuffer); })); } catch { } } The problem I'm having is that the method is being called several times per statement. So the ProcessBuffer method is being called with only a partial statment. How can I read the whole statement?

For that purpose I though of building cli utility. The utility will connect to the application and send user commands (one line strings) to the application and wait for response from the application. The command should contain: - command name (e.g. display-session-table/set-log-level etc.) - optionally command may have several arguments (e.g. log-level=10) The question to choose syntax and to learn parse it fast and correctly. I don't want to reinvent the whell, so maybe there's already an answer out there.

  Hello, I would like to be able to call a function based on its name provided by a string. Something like public void callByName(String funcName){ this.(funcName)(); } I have searched a bit into lambda funcions but they are not supported. I was thinking about going for Reflection, but I am a bit new to programming, so I am not so familiar with the subject. This whole question was brought up on my java OOP class, when I started GUI (Swing, swt) programming, and events. I found that using object.addActionCommand() is very ugly, because I would later need to make a Switch and catch the exact command I wanted. I would rather do something like object.attachFunction(btn1_click), so that it would call the btn1_click function when the event click was raised. Thank you Joao

  I need to make a little JS app to scroll automatically through a list of URLs. I've chosen to have the functionality in a pop-up, for various reasons. The syntax to change the opening window's URL is: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example.com"; This works fine with one URL, but if two statements are called, only one is executed. I experimented with an alert statement between two of the above statements, and the alert event made the second statement function properly: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example1.com"; alert("hello world"); window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example2.com"; Question is: does anyone know how to get the first and second window.opener statements to work, without the intervening alert();? Also, how can I add a pause between the two statements, so that the second executes a couple of seconds after the first? Thanks so much!

• sql server 2005 indexes and low cardinality

  How does SQL Server determine whether a table column has low cardinality? The reason I ask is because query optimizer would most probably not use an index on a gender column (values 'm' and 'f'). However how would it determine the cardinality of the gender column to come to that decision? On top of this, if in the unlikely event that I had a million entries in my table and only one entry in the gender column was 'm', would SQL server be able to determine this and use the index to retrieve that single row? Or would it just know there are only 2 distinct values in the column and not use the index? I appreciate the above discusses some poor db design, but I'm just trying to understand how query optimizer comes to its decisions. Many thanks.

  Is it possible to extend the gap between spoken words when using text to speech with SAPI5 ? The problem is that esp. with some voices, the words are almost connected to each other, which makes the speech more difficult to understand. I'm using python and pyTTS module (on windows, since it's using SAPI) I tried to hook to the OnWord event and add a time.sleep() or tts.Pause(), but apparently even though all the events are caught, they are being processed only at the end of the spoken text, whether i'm using the sync or async flag. In this NON WORKING example, the sleep() method is executed only after the sentence is spoken: tts = pyTTS.Create() def f(x): tts.Pause() sleep(0.5) tts.Resume() tts.OnWord = f tts.Speak(text)

• Detecting a Key Press Squashed by Another Application

  I have a WPF application I'm planning to use as an overlay for a DirectX game (specifically Bad Company 2). I'm using WM_KEYBOARD_LL hook to detect KeyDown events so I can bring my app to the foreground when a specific button is pressed. This works perfectly except for when the game is running (I've also noticed this problem with Window's "Chess Titans" so it may be a DirectX thing). As far as I can work out, when the game detects a keyboard press, it "eats" the event and doesn't pass the CallNextHookEx() method like it should, which would allow the key press message to be moved along to the next application in the queue. I'm wondering if there's any sort of work-around to this? It seems kind of unfair that a single application can just willy-nilly eat up messages like that.   hello, I would like to leave the textbox via code. when user clicks in the textbox, and types in something , and then the user will click outside the textbox. on the screen there are just labels. only this one textbox is on the form. my problem is, that the textbox does not lost focus when I click everywhere on the screen. the texbox it still has the focus. this textbox is used to filter a list, built from labels. the complete story is: - I have no mainmenu on the screen, so the Sip icon is not visible - user clicks in the textbox, and i bring up the SIP, in the textbox.GotFocus event - user types in some letters, the list is filtered - if user clicks away, the SIP disappears (textbox.lostfocus), but the textbox still has the focus, I mean the cursor remains in the textbox - when user wants to type some other letters for filtering, it clicks in the textbox, but GotFocus does not fire how can I make the texbox to loose the focus?

• Flex - prevent dragging for certain items

  Hi troops, how would you prevent dragging for some items of your List or DataGrid? Let's say I had a list with two items: 'Tom' and 'Jerry'. Only 'Tom' should be dragable, not 'Jerry'. Ideally I had a 'isDragEnabled(item:Object):Boolean' function, which is being queried by the drag source. My difficulties start with the fact that the 'dragStart' event handler has a null value for the dragSource, so right from the start I find it hard to find out what the drag-start is about.. Thanks in advance! PS There have been a few discussions on preventing or canceling a drop, but I haven't seen much about preventing the drag start, hence this question.

• JSON Date coming through as Today's date?

  I'm trying to convert a JSON date to a dd/mm/yyyy format, which I'm managing to do semi-successfully. The problem I'm encountering is that the date from the record in the DB is for example, 2009-06-29 which is returning the usual JSON /Date(1246230000000)/, however, when I try and turn it into the previously mention dd/mm/yyyy format, it's coming through as today's date. The code I'm using to try and do this is: $('input#EmployeeName').result(function(event, data, formatted) { $('#StartDate').html(formatJSONDate(Date(!data ? • SelectedValue of DropDownList is not the one I selected when Enabled=false

  Hiya, I have a few DropDownLists on a webform each pointing to a SqlDataSource. Some of these datasources use one of these DropDownLists for a select parameter, filtering the list to specific categories. For certain users two of these DropDownLists are to be automatically set and disabled. When I submit the form with the drop downs enabled it works fine but when they are disabled the SelectedValue of the DropDownList is being reset to the first one in the list. My DropDownLists are constructed as follows: <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlManager" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsManagers" EnableViewState="false" DataValueField="ManagerID" DataTextField="MgrName" AppendDataBoundItems="false" ondatabound="ddlManager_DataBound" > The drop down lists add an extra item on the data bound event as follows: protected void ddlManager_DataBound(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.ddlManager.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("--Manager--", "--Manager--")); } Can anyone shed any light as to why this is happening? • What's the future of std::valarray look like?

  Up until fairly recently I hadn't been keeping up with the C++0x deliberations. As I try to become more familiar with it the issues being worked, I've come across sites like this which seems to be advocating for deprecating or removing std::valarray since most people are using Blitz++ in any event. I guess I'm probably one of the few people out there who uses std::valarray (and yes I know the class has a sordid past, a tarnished present, and a questionable future). For me they work, and perhaps more important, they're part of the standard (for now any way). Aside from the one site above, I've been able to find very little on what is actually happening with std::valarray in the new standard, and was hoping that somebody on SO might be able to provide some insight and / or references where Google, Wikipedia and even the C++ Standards Committee Web Site have so far failed me.
