• Can't find AVD or SDK manager in Eclipse

  Seems like I'm having some problems after updating my android sdk tools and platform-tools using the sdk manager. The problem is that, after updating, I found that the avd or sdk options in the windows dropdown menu in eclipse are gone! And, I can't find any option to create an android project from file-new projects any more. I tried removing the ADT from eclipse and the software site "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" from "available software sites" and then reinstalled the ADT from "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" using help-install new software. The installation was successful, but I still don't have any option for shortcuts to the SDK manager or the AVD in eclipse, and neither can I create a new android project. By the way, the android perspectives are not gone, they are still here. Also, I can manually open the avd and sdk manager from the directory where I have installed them. Can anyone please show me a workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Favicon to PNG in PHP

  I need a PHP script to convert favicons to PNGs while keeping their original dimensions. I know Google has it's secret icon converter - http://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=http://facebook.com/ but this converts favicons to 16x16 even if they they were originally larger. So basically I need this, minus the shrinking effect. I've also seen this - http://www.controlstyle.com/articles/programming/text/php-favicon/ but I couldn't get it to work after hours of messing around with it. Basically I am trying to automatically grab the icon for a link that will be as large as possible - automatically 48x48 png based on a URL would be the perfect scenario, but I don't know of any humanly possible way to do this given that no websites happen to keep a 48x48 icon in a publicly accessible spot. Does anybody know of a script/service or have a suggestion? Thanks!

• Drag and drop an image from desktop to a web text editor (implementation in javascript)

  I tried to write reasonably short title but i failed i guess.. Hi everybody here's what i'm trying to do: I want to implement a web text editor able to recognize when the user drag a image file over it's editing surface and it automa(gically) starts the upload and insert the image near the cursor position. In other words i don't want the user to do the usual "insert-image-browse-ok". Atm i am not very good at javascript ... i know JQuery but i have not a clear idea about how to implement this... i don't know if there's an event handler able to help me in this situation... if not then there should be i think or web apps would miss some kind of interactivity. I've heard miracles about HTML5 could it help me? I've seen such things in Google Wave but that surface doesn't seem to be a form field... google lab's black magic i guess.... Thank you in advance.

• How can I display a dialog box for making a choice before a CALL is processed in android?

  I would like to intercept outgoing calls and pass them to a VOIP application. I see that the Google Voice application has a feature for displaying a question before each call is actually initiated. It provides the user with the choice: Initiate call via Google Voice Initiate call via standard call I would like a way to do something similar with my application (so that not all calls have to be routed through it). At the moment, I can intercept CALL events via a BroadcastReceiver, however, these are not allowed to open dialogs (thus making it possible to display the choice). What is the best way of achieving this goal?

• How to read tags out of m4a files in .NET?

  I've got some heavily modified code that ultimately came from the Windows Media SDK that works great for reading tags out of MP3 and WMV files. Somewhere along the line, Windows Media Player added support for .m4a files (was it in Windows 7?) but the Windows Media API doesn't seem to reflect that addition (or at least IWMMetadataEditor2::OpenEx pukes on an .m4a file). What would be some good C# code or links on how to dig meta data tags out of m4a files? (Google has come up dry on the C# front.) UPDATE AtomicParsley did indeed end being the best approach. Since that code is a command line tool however I ended up having to create a managed wrapper around some of its functionality in order to use in-process. It is posted on google code if anyone else needs such a thing.

  Hi -i'm trying to find all the anchor tags and appending the href value with a variable. for example <a href="/page.aspx">link</a> will become <a href="/page.aspx?id=2"> <A hRef='http://www.google.com'><img src='pic.jpg'></a> will become <A hRef='http://www.google.com?id=2'><img src='pic.jpg'></a> I'm able to match all the anchor tags and href values using regex, then i manually replace the values using string.replace, however i dont think its the efficient way to do this. Is there a solution where i can use something like regex.replace(html,newurlvalue)

  Yesterday I talked about the Browsers we see being used by our readers driven off of our Google Analytics traffic and today I want to share with you the Screen Resolutions we see.  As a web developer most of my life, it is hard to decide how large you should build your application because typically you have a couple huge high resolution monitors on your desk, but you typical end user is thought to have 1024x768.  With HTML5/CSS3 out, it is a little better coming up with a design that will scale to all resolutions, but it is still nice to know the numbers when it comes to how much real estate do I have on my clients. If you look at these numbers for Geekswithblogs.net, we have a lot of high resolution monitors from users that visit the site.  After a little more investigation of the number you will notice we do not have as much height available as we do width.  If the primary goal of a site is to deliver as much data in the viewable area without scrolling, this becomes a challenge when most of our pages have long pieces of formatted data.  So our challenge is to build skins that use up more of the sides of the content toward the top on larger resolution browsers and then entice the reader to scroll to get the goodies embedded in the content of the posts.  Going to be an interesting battle for sure, but we really need more skin offerings on the site. • Insert fixed elements in editable iframe

  Hi, I have an editable iframe and I want to insert two DIVs at the [b]top [/b]and [b]bottom [/b]part(as header/footer) of iframe body respectively. Now, the question is : how to insert a div [b]at the top of iframe body[/b] and fix it there? (Will insertFirst() work?) Also, how to fix the footer div always [b]at the bottom of the iframe body[/b]? I tried make its position absolute and gave a margin top/bottom, but the problem comes when the body height of the iframe increases and footer DIV position does not change. I want the same thing google docs does, i.e. fixing separate part for header/footer (though google docs page is not an iframe). Any work around? Regards, Swarnendu

• jar dependencies in android- no class definition found exception

  I'm trying to use the gdata java client library on android and have managed a decent hack to get it working. However because the jar for gdata had some package discrepancies with android I had to import the source into my project. This source is dependent on the JavaMail API and the JavaBeans Activation Framework as specified here. My issue is that the JavaMail jar throws a class definition not found when seeking a class which is in the Activation Framework jar. A stack trace is listed below. I am working in Eclipse and have both jars in a lib folder and added to my build path.   Hello, I'm doing a university project, that must gather and combine data on a user provided topic. The problem I've encountered is that Google search results for many terms are polluted with low quality autogenerated pages and if I use them, I can end up with wrong facts. How is it possible to estimate the quality/trustworthiness of a page? You may think "nah, Google engineers are working on the problem for 10 years and he's asking for a solution", but if you think about it, SE must provide up-to-date content and if it marks a good page as a bad one, users will be dissatisfied. I don't have such limitations, so if the algorithm accidentally marks as bad some good pages, that wouldn't be a problem.

  This is pretty sweet. The new SPC2 benchmark came out last week, and the 7420 not only came in 2nd of ALL speed scores, but came in #1 for price per MBPS. Check out this table. The 7420 score of 10,704 makes it really fast, but that's not the best part. The price one would have to pay in order to beat it is ridiculous. Very sweet for Oracle. So let's see, the 7420 is the fastest per $. The 7420 is the cheapest per MBPS. The 7420 has incredible, built-in features, management services, analytics, and protocols. It's extremely stable and as a cluster has no single point of failure. It won the Storage Magazine award for best NAS system this year. So how long will it be before it's the number 1 NAS system in the market? What are the biggest hurdles still stopping the widespread adoption of the ZFSSA? From what I see, it's three things: 1. Administrator's comfort level with older legacy systems. 2. Politics 3. Past issues with Oracle Support.   I see all of these issues crop up regularly. Number 1 just takes time and education. • Cheapest way to go for somebody who wants to accept payments, but won't be accepting hundreds of ord

  I have a client who lectures, and wants to sell spots to his lecture online. I would preferably like to set him up with a solution that allows me to collect billing information on his site. My experience with e-commerce is in using solutions like Authorize.net, however this does not seem cost effective since I can't imagine he's making a huge profit off of this. I'm afraid he would lose money in the cost of using Authorize.net (or any payment gateway for the matter). I could use google checkout or paypal express, but this would require me to leave his site (although with google checkout, it looks like, from a glance, that I could just submit to their form from my server, and likely with paypal as well, but I don't know if this is against their TOS). What is the most cost-effective solution for accepting credit card payments in this situation?

• Importing libraries from build.xml file in Eclipse

  I am developing a java app and I need to use jnativehook library. I have downloaded the .zip from https://code.google.com/p/jnativehook/downloads/list . There is a bin folder,src folder,build.xml,build.num and 3 .txt files when I extracted this folder.
