  • JavaScript greybox -- slidehow won't work in FF/Safari...

    hi, is anybody familiar with greyBox JavaScript plugin? orangoo.com/labs/GreyBox/ it's for slideshows and stuff.. I can't get it to work in FF/Safari; it works great in IE, but FF/Safari won't play ball.. orensanz.org/photos.html would very much appreciate some suggestions.. supposedly there's a google group (forum) for this thing (can't post url.. this thing limits how many urls u can include in a post, it's linked to from their home pg (url above.. oh brother..) but when you link to it you land on a pg that says they've been booted out b/c they violated google's terms of service....;-) thank you..

  • Need a good website URL to test against

    I need a URL to just test basic http connectivity. It needs to be consistent and: Always be up Never change drastically due to IP or user agent. (IE: 301 Location redirect/ huge difference in content... minor would be tolerable) The URL itself has a consistent content-length. (IE: it doesn't vary from by 2kb at most, ever) A few examples, yet none match all 3 criteria: One example of always up: www.google.com (yet it 301 redirects based on IP location). Another good one is http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en. but the problem there is that based on a given holiday, the content-length can really vary.

    Im looking for a simple Javascript Library (svg?) that allow me to draw a family tree relationships. I have searched a lot on google found a lot of interesting libraries like Raphaël and its extention Dracula. Google has its own library to make flowcharts too. Unfortunally, every library make a relation between nodes with a sigle line. If A and B has a relation to C, I will obtain 2 line: one from A to C and one from B to C. What I need is a line from A to B (we call it AB) and a line from AB to C to represent the Marriage of A and B. example-image Thanks.

    I am trying to run this SQL from ASP.NET 2005 but am getting an invalid SQL error because it has a weird character ” in it. In my code I am trying to replace ” with " but it is not doing it as the special character in the replace command is changing to ". Query: insert into userquery(description) values ('In fact, Topeka Google Mayor Bill Bunten expressed it best: “Don’t be fooled. Even Google recognizes that all roads lead to Kansas, not just yellow brick ones.”') If I copy and execute this in mysql it is working good. How can I solve this problem?

  • Is there an API available that, given text, returns a list of companies with their ticker symbols?

    Ideally I would love to extract exactly what Google Finance's Get Quote functionality does with the predictive search. That's really all that I'm looking for. I don't want to store the data, I just want to be able to search company names/ticker symbols so that I can get the correct symbol. I already have specialized quote functionality in place. Also, the search functionality needs to be intuitive. I've looked through Google Finance API but haven't seen exactly what it is that I'm looking for. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Deployed several bug fixes: Fixed an issue where the back button on Internet Explorer was not working as intended when browsing code. Fixed an issue where long commit comments would push the source control info box outside of the boundaries of the page. Fixed an issue where Internet Explorer users were not able to widen the frame of the source code browser until a file was selected. Fixed an issue where opening a source code file directly from a URL in Internet Explorer would cause the source code tree to be collapsed. Fixed an issue where adding a code snippet with long lines of text to a discussion thread using Internet Explorer would needlessly display a vertical scrollbar, limiting the amount of code visible.     Hello, I have app which have two views implemented in Tabbar, one of them is UIWebView which shows some random html and second is mapView (route-me map), I have function in MapViewController.m which do sth stuff when is clicked on marker label - (void) tapOnLabelForMarker: (RMMarker*) marker onMap: (RMMapView*) map { NSLog(@"taponlabelformarker clicked"); self.tabBarController.selectedIndex=0; WebViewController *web = [[WebViewController alloc] init]; [web dajdasepije]; } and that function should call function which show html in uiwebview tab -(void)dajdasepije { NSLog(@" pokreni me njezno"); [webView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.google.com"]]]; } Problem is that UIWebView never show google page that I asked for it, NSLog prints out at terminal messages that function was called but nothing else happens.     Hello, Our application (C#/.NET) needs a lot of queries to search. Google's 50,000 policy per day is not enough. We need something that would crawl Internet websites by specific rules we set (for ex. country domains) and gather URLs, Texts, keywords, name of websites and create our own internal catalogue so we wouldn't be limited to any massive external search engine like Google or Yahoo. Is there any free open source solution we could use to install it on our server? No point in re-inventing the wheel.

  • PHP exec() hangs, Error 500

    So, my plan is to make small thumbnails of URL's with PHP and IECapt. IECapt works well, a nice command line tool, gets the full sized image of specified URL in 1 to 4 seconds. But my problem is to execute it trough PHP. This is the code I've trying to get working: exec('IECapt.exe ' . escapeshellarg($URL) . ' ' . escapeshellarg($Filename)) $URL is of course the URL, and $filename is a simplified version of the URL. Sometimes I get the IECapt to snap the image(trough PHP), but it takes awfully long (30-60s), and in the end I always get a 500-error, with no error messages to tell me what's wrong. Both variables are fine, they work manually with commandline: IECapt http://google.com Google.png My server set-up is IIS7 and PHP5.2.9, if relevant. (Windows Vista, all on my personal computer, so full access.) Any ideas?

    Goal: building a web application where a user can: Upload a document (doc, docx, pdf, additional office formats a +) View that document in a browser, preferably in html Download the document (in doc, pdf, additional open formats a +) Current solution: Ruby on Rails Application on Rackspace Users can upload doc and pdf files (AWS) Files can be downloaded in the format in which they were uploaded Thumbnail generation ([doc, pdf] - pdf - png) is done through AbiWord. Certain doc files do not convert well. Documents can be viewed in embedded Google docs viewer (https://docs.google.com/viewer). Certain doc files cannot be displayed. Little flexibility. Potential improvements: Document viewing in pdf through pdf.js Viewing in html (+ annotation) through Crocodoc I'd be glad to hear other users' experiences, and will add good recommendations to this list.

    Recently search engines have been able to page dynamic content on social networking sites. I would like to understand how this is done. Are there static pages created by a site like Facebook that update semi frequently. Does Google attempt to store every possible user name? As I understand it, a page like www.facebook.com/username, is not an actual file stored on disk but is shorthand for a query like: select username from users and display the information on the page. How does Google know about every user, this gets even more complicated when things like tweets are involved.

  • How to split the chance to display SWFs evenly among banner collection?

    Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this?
