  • Migrating ASP.NET (MVC 2) on .NET 3.5 over to .NET 4 #gotchas

    I've currently got a ASP.NET MVC 2 application on .NET 3.5 and I want to migrate it over to the new .NET 4.0 with Visual Studio 2010. Reason being that it's always good to stay on top of these things - plus I really like the new automatic encoding with <%: %> and clean web.config :-) So, does anyone have any experience they could share? Looking for gotchas and the likes. I guess this could also apply to any ASP.NET Forms projects aswell. TIA, Charles

  • No properties file found Error for ReloadableResourceBundleMessageSource

    I'm trying to use a reloadable spring resource bundle but spring cannot find the file. I've tried tons of different paths, but can't get it to work anywhere. In the code below you'll see that i load both the spring bundle and the regular one from the same path variable but only one works. I've been banging my head against this for far too long.   • Simple "Long Polling" example code?

    I can find lots of information on how Long Polling works (For example, this, and this), but no simple examples of how to implement this in code. All I can find is cometd, which relies on the Dojo JS framework, and a fairly complex server system.. Basically, how would I use Apache to serve the requests, and how would I write a simple script (say, in PHP) which would "long-poll" the server for new messages? The example doesn't have to be scaleable, secure or complete, it just needs to work!

I have set environment variable in my code (i.e. my email address) and trying to reference this environment variable to send email. However log4net doesn't seem to read this value when the application is run. It seems to be working, except that when I made one change and tried svn status, I found about 100 files had been changed, in the .metadata directory. My ~/.subversion/config file currently contains the following line: global-ignores = *.o *.lo *.la *.al .libs *.so *.so.[0-9]* *.a *.pyc *.pyo *.rej *~ .*.swp .DS_Store What do I need to add to ignore the .metadata files? The directory under consideration is used by Eclipse for Python development using PyDev, if that matters.

    I'm trying to get Cruisecontrol.NET running with Server 2008/IIS7 and when I try and navigate to the dashboard I get the following error: HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler. I'm a bit lost in IIS7 so it could be something pretty straightforward. They (cc.net) do some funny stuff with http handlers in the web.config which may be related to the problem: Anyone have any pointers?

All run well for small size calls, but with a 1Mb soap call (the HTTPS call size is 1MB) our Delphi Soap client stop with a timeout on all PC but one, and our PHP clients run well with a default_socket_timeout=300, but stop with a "Error Fetching http headers" with default_socket_timeout=60.   • Oracle JDBC connection exception in Solaris but not Windows?

    I have some Java code that connects to an Oracle database using DriverManager.getConnection(). It works just fine on my Windows XP machine. I have regenearted the default_dsa.key on server and imported the same for client but still not working. Any solutions?
