• applet does not load

  We have a legacy program that was ported from Java 1.3 to Java 1.5. This application involves applets which worked fine before. After porting however, the applet would not load. However there are no errors or exceptions. The app would just try to load it forever. We tried to run it with Java 1.6 and poof! No problems whatsoever. Isn't Java 6 backwards compatible? Here is why I like trace sources: Pluggable listeners - XML, TextFile, Console, EventLog, roll your own Customisable trace switches (error, warning, info, verbose, start, end, custom) Customisable configuration The Logging Application Block is just a big set of TraceListeners Correlation of activities/scopes (e.g., associate all logs within an ASP.NET request with a given customer The Service Trace Viewer allows you to visualize events against these activities individually All of it is configurable in app.config/web.config. Since the .NET framework internally uses TraceSources, it also gives me a consistent way of configuring tracing - with log4net, I have to configure log4net as well as TraceSources. What does log4net give me that TraceSources don't (or that couldn't be done by writing a couple of custom TraceListeners)?

• Best Method for Minimizable Fullscreen Window

  Hi, I'm coding a short game in C++ and Win32, and I want to be able to make it in fullscreen with a fixed size. I also want the user to be able to switch focus between the game window and other windows as much as he/she wants without any weird screen glitches. So far I know of the ChangeDisplaySettings function and creating the window with the WS_POPUP style at initialization to make it fullscreen. To detect the user switching focus to other windows by way of alt+tab or otherwise, what messages should I be handling on the window's WndProc or should I be using another function? When loss of focus is detected should I only call ChangeDisplaySettings(NULL, 0); or are there other functions I should call as well? And what method should I use to handle focus back into the window? Also can anyone give me some info on how to make it work smoothly for different screen sizes? Thanks for any help.

  I have a many to many relationship in my models and i'm trying to reorganize it on one of my pages. My site has videos. On each video's page i'm trying to list the actors that are in that video with links to each time they are in the video(the links will skip to that part of the video) Here's an illustration Flash Video embedded here Actors...   I am considering using Spring Security annotations for my application, with the EL (expression language) feature. However, to use this capability with the "#contact" type arguments, the Spring documentation says this: You can access any of the method arguments by name as expression variables, provided your code has debug information compiled in. • PHP SimpleXML - Remove xpath node

  Hi, I'm a little confused as to how i can delete a parent node of something which i can find via an xpath search: $xml = simplexml_load_file($filename); $data = $xml->xpath('//items/info[item_id="' . $item_id . '"]'); $parent = $data[0]->xpath("parent::*"); unset($parent); So, it finds the item id, no problems there - but the unset isnt getting rid of this <items> node. All i want to do is remove the <items>...</items> for this product. Obviously, there are loads of <items> nodes in the xml file so it cant do unset($xml->data->items) as that would delete everything. Any ideas much appreciated :-)

Plenty of info on what is missing between Express and Pro for example, but I'm struggling to find much on Express v Express. Is the only real difference the ability to develop apps for .NET 4.0? I'm developing WinForms apps, targetting .NET 2.0 at the moment, so are there any benefits for me in changing to 2010 Express? Unfortunately, upgrading to VS Professional or such is not an option for me right now, so I'm stuck with the hamstrung versions. Thanks.

With following code i'm setting widget in definite cell: view = QTableView() label = QLabel( <some html text> ) ... view.setIndexWidget(index, label) I used html to make label's text clickable, but links became blue with underline and moreover by clicking on it with right mouse button appears popup menu with "Copy Link Locaion" option, where i wanted to place some hidden information instead of url and of course do not let user see this info. I'm looking for light-weight widget, i thought that insertion of QGraphicsView in each cell will lead to big computer loads, but can't think of any other solution.   If I lift my finger up off the first touch, then it will recognize the next touch just fine. It's only when I hold my first touch down continuously and then try and touch a different area with a different finger at the same time. It will then incorrectly register that second touch as being from the first touch again.   I'm using version 1.0 of Microsoft's OpenXML SDK to do some basic parsing of .xlsx files. I can get and parse the worksheets, and I can get a list of worksheet names, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to link up what name goes with what worksheet. I understand that an element like <sheet name="My Sheet" sheetId="1" r:id="rId1"/> in the workbook is linked up to a specific worksheet via the relationships defined in xl/_rels.xml, but I can't see where any of the relationship info is exposed in the API. I'm using C#, but any VB.NET examples would be just as helpful. I feel like this should be dead simple, but I can't figure it out. It also looks like it may be more straightforward in v2.0 of the SDK, but upgrading isn't an option at the moment.

  I've checked out Apple's Quick Look Programming Guide: Introduction to Quick Look page in the Mac Dev Center, but as a more of a science programmer rather than an Apple programmer, it is a little over my head (but I could get through it in a weekend if I bash my head against it long enough). This means that after sorting (using the JTable's GUI) the 'myModel' and 'resultsTable' objects have different row indexes. How do I synchronize those two?

• How to create a web framework in C# without ASPX?

  I've managed to get a C# asp page running under ubuntu/apache/mono, but I don't want to write my framework in these ASP pages, I want to use straight C# and then I'll use a templating language for my views. But I don't know where to begin? C# is a compiled language, so... how would I do this? Would I compile everything and then have apache hook into the (single) executable and pass in the the request URL? Could I request specific .cs pages and then have apache tell it to compile and then "display" it only if it's been updated? Can the "view" files be compiled individually to avoid having to recompile everything every time there's a change? Is there some "base" I can work from, or am I going to have to reinvent accessing GET and POST variables (by reading header info) and all sorts of other stuff we take for granted in languages like PHP?

  Hi all, I've recently obtained an HTC Desire and I'm interested in porting my 3D engine to the device. I have a slight annoyance however. I'd love to be able to do development under Visual Studio 2008. Am I to assume I'm going to need to re-process my SLN files to do GCC builds? Its not a vast issue as I already have an application that processes SLN and VCProj files through GCC and then links them together at the other end. I'll just need to set up the right libraries with it. Are there any other gotchas I need to think about? Or, indeed, is there an easier way? Any info would be much appreciated! Cheers :)

Structure HH_POPUP includes field pszFont in format: "Facename[, point size[, CHARSET[, color[, PLAIN BOLD ITALIC UNDERLINE]]]]", but I cannot find any info about way to define the charset. My russian popup help is totally unreadeable.
