• Can I resolve ASP.NET "~" app paths to the website root without a Control being present?

  I want to Resolve "~/whatever" from inside non-Page contexts such as Global.asax (HttpApplication), HttpModule, HttpHandler, etc. but can only find the Resolution methods specific to Controls (and Page). I think the app should have enough knowledge to be able to map this outside the Page context. No? Or at least it makes sense to me it should be resolvable in other circumstances, wherever the app root is known. Update: The reason being I'm sticking ~ paths in the web.configuration files. Update 2: I'm trying to resolve them to the website root such as Control.Resolve(..) URL does, not to a file system path.

• AutoCompleteExtender positioning menu incorrectly when scrolled

  We have an AutoCompleteExtender linked to a TextBox. Both controls are placed inside an UpdatePanel, and the UpdatePanel is displayed as a pop-up dialog using a Javascript library (Ext.BasicDialog). The pop-up is a div on the page, not a separate window. The problem is that when the user scrolls inside the pop-up, the AutoCompleteExtender shows its menu in the wrong place. It looks like it is taking the visible distance from the top of the popup and positioning the menu from the top of the inner html of the popup (which is not visible) We are using Version 1.0.20229.20821 of the AjaxControlToolkit, and we are targetting ASP.NET Framework vewrsion 2.0. • Saving jQuery UI Sortable's order to Backbone.js Collection

  I have a Backbone.js collection that I would like to be able to sort using jQuery UI's Sortable. Nothing fancy, I just have a list that I would like to be able to sort. The problem is that I'm not sure how to get the current order of items after being sorted and communicate that to the collection. Sortable can serialize itself, but that won't give me the model data I need to give to the collection. Ideally, I'd like to be able to just get an array of the current order of the models in the collection and use the reset method for the collection, but I'm not sure how to get the current order. Please share any ideas or examples for getting an array with the current model order.

• Designing a WPF map control.

  I'm thinking about making a simple map control in WPF, and am thinking about the design of the basic map interface and am wondering if anyone has some good advice for this. What I'm thinking of is using a ScrollViewer (sans scroll bars) as my "view port" and then stacking everything up on top of a canvas. From Z-Index=0 up, I'm thinking: Base canvas for lat/long calculations, control positioning, Z-Index stacking. Multiple Grid elements to represent the maps at different zoom levels. Using a grid to make tiling easier. Map objects with positional data. Map controls (zoom slider, overview, etc). Scroll viewer with mouse move events for panning and zooming. Any comments suggestions on how I should be building this?

• Reducing decimal places in Delphi

  I am storing a list of numbers (as Double) in a text file, then reading them out again. When I read them out of the text file however, the numbers are placed into the text box as 1.59993499 for example, instead of 1.6. AssignFile(Pipe, 'EconomicData.data'); Reset(Pipe); For i := 1 to 15 Do ReadLn(Pipe, SavedValue[i]); CloseFile(Pipe); Edit1.Text := FloatToStr(SavedValue[1]); The text in Edit1.text, from the code above, would be 1.59999... instead of the 1.6 in the text file. How can i make it so the text box displays the original value (1.6)?

• Bind Data after TCP receive.

  I have this strange problem all day now. I dunno if you handled something similar. I used two different serializers and now i know its not this problem. Im sending some data over TCP Sockets. Serialize - Send - Deserialize, everything works ok, i can get my objects search through them, use they're properties! But, if e.g receive a BusinessObject[] and convert into List<BusinessObject>, then bind the list in a Control.DataSource = businessObjectList; BOOM! NotSupportedException. Tried it with 3 different controls. Same behaviour. My head is empty of ideas right now!! The Send TCP happens on Desktop Framework, Receive on Compact Framework. But i dont think this has to do with anything. I wish for an explanation on this!

See image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/72686/tagCloud.png At the moment I have the tags (that are mx.controls.LinkButtons) added at the same position and having different sizes according to values (stored in an ArrayComponent). In my visualization, the orange tags are supposed to be listed vertically in the middle. The gray tags should be at different distances (according to stored numeric values). I want to avoid overlapping and cluttering. How do you suggest to compute x and y of the gray tags taking care about: the distances from orange tags avoid overlapping between them thanks

• Silverlight Scrollable Content Problem

  I am fairy new to Silverlight and I have a problem. I have a grid on a page that is resizable when the user resizes their browser window. In one of the grids columns I want to display dynamically added content that is scrollable, as there is more data than space available. I currently have a scrollViewer with a stack panel inside it, that i programmatically add a user control to and then several user controls to that control depending on the amount of content. My problem is this. The scrollViewer does not respect the available space and as such displays its content outside of the viewable area when there is more data than space. i.e. it does not uses it is not scrollable nature. Hopefully this is something simple that I have missed, but i am banging my head against the wall at the moment. Any help gratefully received.

I mean, when I choose add new item in the VS menu, there is a Windows form and some varians of it like an about box, or Dialog, that are simple Forms with a custom controls already on it. I want to have a login form for my set of applications, so this login is avialable for all the development team to use it in the different modules.   I'm getting reports that my app is causing a GPF on some Vista machines. The error message is something like this: access violation at 0x75784062 ( tried to write to 0x00000006) In order to fix this, I first need to know exactly who is causing this GPF: my main exe, some third party component, one of my own activex components, a dll, etc... How can I find this out? What tools can pinpoint the exact module that caused this mess? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS My app is coded in VB6 and my activex controls are written in Delphi 2007.

  Hi, Currently on my application I have a form where I ask the user to upload an image file to be used as a logo. I want to allow the user to reset that to nothing by supplying no file (by just pressing the upload button from the browser). In this scenario the only thing left is to suspend file validation when no file is included. Currently I get the *self::NO_FILE* error from the *Zend_Validate_File_Upload* class. Is there any way to suspend the validation so that nothing will be checked if no file has been provided?

• A hooked DirectX 9 program crashes on window resize, texture related.

  I'm using EasyHook and SlimDX to overlay some graphics using SlimDX's Sprite and Texture classes. When I resize windows some programs fine, but others will crash - Winamp's MilkDrop 2 gives me an ambiguous memory error for example. I expect this is due to the after market Texture I created. The question is what VTable function should I hook and/or how/when do I dispose and recreate the Texture? Reset perhaps? If it isn't obvious I don't know much about DirectX.

  I am testing my application (Windows 7, WinForms, Infragistics controls, C#, .Net 3.5). I have two monitors and my application saves and restores forms' position on the first or second monitors. So I physically switched off second monitor and disabled it at Screen Resolution on the windows display settings form. I need to know it is possible for my application to restore windows positions (for those windows that were saved on the second monitor) to the first one. I switched off second monitor and press Detect to apply hardware changes. Then Windows switched OFF the first monitor for a few seconds to apply new settings. When the first monitor screen came back, my application became unresponsive. My application was launched in debug mode, so I tried to navigate via stack and threads (Visual Studio 2008), paused application, started and did not find any thing that help me to understand why my application is not responsive. Could somebody help my how to detect the source of issue.

  How do you determine whether the content for the detail page being displayed is filled by a specific subreport? For example, consider two subreports on the same master report, using different detail bands: Detail 1 Detail 2 The header on the master report should show certain fields on pages where the subreport in the Detail 2 band is printed. A Return Value from the subreport in the Detail 2 band only seems to be set after the report has finished, even though the Reset type for the variable (in both the master and the subreport) is set to Page. (Setting it to Report also does not help.)

  Hi, I have a scenario: There is a Slideshow running in PowerPoint. I want to control the movement [Next and Previous] of the slides. Of course it is possible with the [ and < button on the keyboard], but is there any way in which I can have a custom application listening to the Next and Previous controls? As in, my custom application has nothing but 2 buttons, next and previous, when I click either, the button's event handler should pass the control to the Power Point Application running the slideshow. And thus, the powerpoint will move the slideshow back or forward? Somewhat similar to the way remote, wireless Power Point Presenters work on the s/w end. Thank You.

There are a few different 3rd party code frameworks that include calendar controls, but most of them have a lot of functionality I don't need, plus most of them lack sufficient documentation on how to use them and I'm not a proficient enough iPhone developer figure it out using just the code. So I'm going to attempt to build my own and I was hoping you could provide me with some high-level direction to get started. At a high level, how could I build a simple, calendar control that doesn't do much more than display a calendar (month view, with the current date highlighted) and allows the user to selected a date?   In the context of C# 4, ASP.NET MVC 2, and NHibernate; I've got the following scenario: Let's assume an entity Product that have an association to ProductType. In a product edit view; how do I implement that only a sub-set of the product's properties are shown based on the ProductType association in an elegant and DRY way? I.e., different properties shall be shown for different values of a property of the ProductType. Use a product view model builder, and from different view models automagically generate the view with my own Html.EditorForModel() (including drop-downs and other stuff not out-of-the-box)? Attribute the properties of one view model and use the Html.EditorForModel() way aforementioned? Use one model, but implement different web controls (view strategies) (can it be done DRY?)? Something else entirely?
