• Rails Rspec testing not saving a transactional model

  I'm currently testing my Rails controllers using RSpec. In one controller, I have a model that uses transactions, so that it will not be saved unless another nested model (whose data is filled in using fields_for) is also saved correctly. The tests hit a snag when they reach the transaction. Some debugging output proves that the model is valid and ready to save. However, upon entering the transaction block, the model does not save. Even stranger, the code never reaches the else clause of "if model.save" (It does, however, enter the transaction block). I can only assume this is a problem with my testing a transactional model. Any ideas/hints/solutions?

• MVC + Repository Pattern - Still depends on Data Model?

  I've started a project for school in which I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 + LINQ2SQL, and a business layer so my UI doesnt interact with the DB directly. My question is this: In my MVC project, when bringing up views and passing around data, I still have to include my Data project for access to the classes in my Linq2Sql project. Is this correct? Example: Controller: ClassesRepository cr = new ClassesRepository(); // this is from my Business project Class classToEdit = cr.GetByClassId(id); // "Class" is from my data project I still have to reference the Class class in my linq2sql data project - shouldn't my UI be completely independent of my data layer? Or maybe I'm going about this all wrong.

• Create a link to delete membership in web2py

  I'm trying to do something really simple but it's taking me ages to figure out how to do it properly. I want to have a button that simply deletes a member from a group. So in my view I have <div id="del-role">{{=A('Delete Role',_class="btn btn-danger", callback=URL('test'),delete='#del-role')}}</div> However, when I click the button, the only thing I get is a Javascript prompt asking whether I'm sure I want to delete the specified object, yes/no. That's fine but, what I'd really like to do is just auth.del_membership('role') What needs to go in my controller? I do not want any page redirection, I just want to auth.del_membership(role) This seemingly simple thing is taking me forever to understand. Thanks!

  In my tabbar application I am adding Navigation controller in each tab. Suppose the selected index is 0 when I opening the app.In my 3rd tab(selected index=2) I want to change the text colour of navigationbar title.And I am using the code [[UINavigationBar appearance] setTitleTextAttributes: [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [UIColor greenColor],UITextAttributeTextColor,nil]]; But its not changing the text color of Index 0 and 2.Colour of index 1 will change only if that tab was not clicked before changing the colour by using the above code. I don't know whats is the issue ? Any help/code will be appreciable.

• How to override [Authorize] attribute in the MVC Web API?

  I have a MVC Web Api Controller that uses the [Authorize] attribute at the class level. This makes all of the api methods require authorization but I'd like to create an attribute called [ApiPublic] that overrides the [Authorize] attribute. There is a similar technique described here for normal MVC controllers. I tried creating an AuthorizeAttribute based of the System.Web.Http.AuthorizeAttribute but none of the overridden events are called if I put it on a api method that has the [Authorize] at the class level. Anyone have an idea how to override the authorize for the web api?   The Error The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'UserId' of non-nullable type 'System.Int64' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Predict(Int64)' in 'sportingbiz.Controllers.PredictionController'. Throws the error mentioned above http://mysite/User/Profile/15 This works http://mysite/User/Profile/?UserID=15 The Controller Action public ActionResult Profile(long UserID) { } When I changed the parameter name to Id it works. I think it's because Id was specified in the route collection (Global.asax). Is it possible to tell MVC that UserId should map to Id without changing it in the Global.asax

JSON connectivity and table are in same class. but how to access this data in another table which is in another view controller. I hope i made my self clear.

When they submit, I have a jQuery callback to serialize all ids. I want to stick those ids into an http request parameter called, "ids" so that I can grab them easily. I figured I could do the following var ids = $("#downloadall").serializeArray(); Then I would need to take each of the ids and add them to a request param called ids. But is there a "standard" way to do this? Like using jQuery?

  Howdy, Im adding the filevistacontrol to my asp.net MVC web application. I have a media.aspx page that is ignored in the routing with routes.IgnoreRoute("media.aspx"); This works successfully and serves a standard webforms page. Upon adding the filevistacontrol, I can't seem to ignore any calls the control makes to it's webservice. Eg the following ignoreRoute still seems to get picked up by the MvcHandler. routes.IgnoreRoute("FileVistaControl/filevista.asmx/GetLanguageFile/"); The exception thrown is: 'The RouteData must contain an item named 'controller' with a non-empty string value' Thanks in advance.

I have a Nib with a view that has a class identity set to TestView In my view controller, I use the following code: CGRect myRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320,240); TestView *myTest = [[TestView alloc] initWithFrame:myRect]; [self.view addSubview:myTest]; I have a NSLog in the TestView class's initWithFrame that fires when the above code is executed, but the view doesn't appear in the view controllers view. • How do I reference the other object in django models

  Hi, first post here.In Django, I want to have many files be associated with a particular model, so I'm doing a seperate model called files and have model 'A' 'have many' files. But I want my files to be saved in director named by model 'A'. So For example I want something like this: class Show(models.Model): name = models.CharField() showfolder = models.FilePathField() class Episode(models.Model): show = models.ForeignKey(Show) name = models.CharField() files = models.ManyToManyField(mp3) class Mp3(models.Model): file = FileField(upload_to=Episode.show.showfolder) So hopefully that last line expresses what I WANT it to do(get the folder name from Show object associated with the episode). The question is how would I really write that?(besides jumping through hoops in the controller.) Thanks.

• sharepoint wss 3.0 user domain

  I've inherited a sharepoint wss 3.0 farm that is pulling users from 2 different domains, say domainA and domainB. So if I go into Add User and Browse, and type Smith, it is coming up with domainA\jsmith and domainB\jsmith. The company has moved away from domainA and uses only domainB now. So I want to remove domainA from the sharepoint configuration. I don't need to migrate existing sharepoint users, I just want for the domainA users to stop showing up when new users are added. I've been through every page I can find in Central Administration and I don't see where the names of the domain controller(s) are specified. It is using windows auth / NTLM.

• Grails: can remoteField update multiple fields?

  Hi, Assume i have a book entity with an isbn field. When entered a isbn number, i want 2 fields to be updated: title and author. My controller looks like this: def ajaxGetBook = { def book = Book.findByIsbn(params.isbn) if(book==null) book = new Book() render book as JSON } So my call works, and i get a full JSON Book. Now i would like to update 2 texfields by the update attribute <g:remoteField action="ajaxGetBook" update="title" name="isbn" value="${bookInstance?.book?.isbn}" paramName="isbn"/> Now the title field gets updated with the full book object, so that doesn't work. Is it possible to update field title with only the JSON book.title? Is it possible to update more fields at once? I could render book.title as JSON but that works for only one field. Thank you

• UIButton setBackgroundImage consumes doesn't release memory?

  My UIButton has it's background image set like this: [myImageButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:myImageName] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myImageButton is a retained property of the class, and is setup with IB. No where else is it accessed in the app. myImageName is simply an NSString with a filename like @"myImage_number_1.png" I am loading large images, 1024 x 1024 in size. When the view is shown, it changes the image with the above statement, then available memory decreases. After I see the view about 7-9 different times, the app crashes with a memory warning. I thought the method would free up the loaded image. The view itself is only instantiated and allocated one time, so it's not in the retain/release cycle if the view controller. Is there something about this setBackgroundImage I don't know that causes it to not release memory?

I'd like to keep a smooth flow between find-edit-view-upload any ideas? Background: I have converted most of the html files of my legacy site into XML (which match the directory structure of my 'public docs' folder).   I am trying to test my views with RSpec. The particular view that is causing me troubles changes its appearance depending on a url parameter: link_to "sort>name", model_path(:sort_by => 'name') which results in http://mydomain/model?sort_by=name My view then uses this parameter like that: <% if params[:sort_by] == 'name' %> <div>Sorted by Name</div> <% end %> The RSpec looks like this: it "should tell the user the attribute for sorting order" do #Problem: assign params[:sort_for] = 'name' render "/groups/index.html.erb" response.should have_tag("div", "Sorted by Name") end I would like to test my view (without controller) in RSpec but I can't get this parameter into my params variable. I tried assign in all different flavours: assign[:params] = {:sort_by => 'name'} assign[:params][:sort_by] = 'name' ... no success so far. Every idea is appreciated.

  Im using Navigation Controller for my ViewControllers,I set my importantViewController as something like this to be its RootView: UINavigationController *navControl = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController: vc]; [self presentModalViewController: navControl animated: YES]; Then, I pushView anotherView the FrontViewController like this: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; After a button is pressed in FrontViewController another view will be pushed ViewA but it is connected with another ViewController ViewB the same way as this AGAIN: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; (Which I think Im doing wrong when dismissing either of them with [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];) This is an illustration: My problem is, I need to navigate between View A and View B then when I dismiss either of them it will got back to FrontViewController. • How to integrate "basic" website into Zend Framework

  Hi guys, I have a website that has around 10 pages. Only one of those pages uses Zend (to integrate with Google gData). Right now, it's just all coded into that one page, but I'm wanting to learn how to use Zend Framework. How do you handle basic-relatively static php pages within Zend Framework? Do you just stick the whole individual pages into their own respective views and then have to common stuff in the layout, and not worry about a model and controller for those pages? in general, is MVC accepted and appropriate technology for general "web-design" work?

  I am pretty new to rails and basically I want to make a user registration form. I am currently using rails 3.2.3 Basically I want to make basic routes like user/register on top of basic REST route for user. • Detect when home button is pressed iOS

  I have several iOS apps that all use the same port to listen for a network beacon. On the main view I use viewWillDisappear to close the port when another view is opened, which was working great. Then I noticed if I pressed the home button from the main view controller without opening another view to close the port, then the port stays open and non of my other apps can listen on that port any more. I then tried using viewWillUnload, but that doesn't seem to get called when I press the home button. -(void)viewWillUnload { //[super viewWillUnload]; NSLog(@"View will unload"); [udpSocket close]; udpSocket = nil; } View will unload is never displayed in the console, which leads me to believe that the method is never getting called. Is there a way to detect when the home button is pressed so I can close my port?

  Here I've got two controller methods: def invite if request.post? begin email = AccountMailer.create_invite(@user,url) AccountMailer.deliver(email) flash[:notice] = "Invitation email sent to #{@user.email}" rescue #mail delivery failed flash[:error] = "Failed to deliver invitation" end redirect_to :action => :show, :id => @user.id end end and def show @title = "User #{@user.full_name}" end The problem is, when I send an invitation, and get redirected to ./show, I see no messages at all. If I change redirect_to to render, the message appears. Still, isn't it intended for flash to work in the immediate subsequent requests? BTW, I'm using Rails+Passenger setup, could it be so that redirected request goes to another application instance?

• iphone dev - loading table content asynchronously

  My app has a navigation controller which push and pop a series of views. One of the tableViews loads .xml file from URL and it takes 4-5 seconds. If I click the back button on the navigation bar, it will only respond after the content of the table finish loading. Is there an easy way to load the content asynchronously so that the app will still respond to my gesture on the navigation bar? p.s. I search this on the Internet and people are talking about multithreading. I don't know a lot about threads so please be more specific. Thanks in advanced =)
