• Software Center crashes and terminal errors

  *note*I'm a new user to Ask Ubuntu and I've only recently switched to Ubuntu 12.04. When I try to open the software center (Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit) it will flash open, load for maybe 1-2 seconds, and then close. When i try using: sudo apt-get purge software center sudo apt-get install sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade I get this within the terminal: Reading package lists... Error! E: Problem parsing dependency Depends E: Error occurred while processing printer-driver-hpcups (NewVersion2) E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. *The problem fixed itself after I shut down my laptop for the night and turned it back on to check my e-mail this afternoon. If anyone could tell me how to fix this problem in the future please do, I would like to learn about these kind of things because i don't plan on putting windows on my laptop again :P *

• Why don't my Google Analytics custom segmentation visit numbers match up?

  I have three main areas of my site and want to track total usage as well as breakdowns of the three parts. I am trying to segment the "type" of use on each page using a custom variable as such: ['_setCustomVar',1,'Visitor Type','Unknown',1] Visitor type can be one of three values: "Unknown", "Reader" or "publisher". Every page has this value set. Now when I look at my analytics chart and chose all three segments, the individual values do not match the sum. I've double checked the pages to make sure the custom var is there.

• Why doesn't MoveBy work in this example?

  I'd like to run an action on a sprite using the MoveBy action. After lots of attempts, I can't achieve the goal... I have issues with the MoveBy in 2 different projects, so maybe I'm missing something in the setup... But I can't figure what! The instruction is like this: this.platform1Sprite.runAction(cc.MoveBy.create(1, cc.p(200, 0))); I don't get any error, simply it doesn't work. platform1Sprite is a Sprite. • MySQL prevents server from booting unless password is entered

  I am kind of new with Ubuntu but I have been working on setting up a LAMP server with hamachi as a vpn client for management. The issue is that when we turn the server on or restart it we are required to enter the MySQL password before it will continue. Where can we script a password or disable this? • get_hosts script being ignored in LTSP setup on Ubuntu 12.04

  We had a home-grown LTSP load-balancer based on LDM_SERVER and get_hosts in Ubuntu 10.04. After upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04, everything worked fine except that get_hosts is being ignored completely. If we put space delimited list of servers as LDM_SERVER in lts.conf, users can choose a server during login and things work fine. Tried both locations below without any luck so far: 1. /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/get_hosts 2. /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/get_hosts Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

• netbeans doesn't display properly after permission change

  So basically i installed netbeans 7.2 through the site and everything worked fine. I then changed permissions for /var/www so that my apache2 could write on it without problems. After that netbeans started behaving strangely and giving errors and the fonts where all ugly. So i re-installed it but the problem continued. I have options in Tools that don't even show up anymore. If i open with Sudo the fonts come up nicely again, but the amount of options still isn't the same as the original installation Can anyone help me?

• Do I need a Point and a Vector object? Or just using a Vector object to represent a Point is ok?

  Structuring the components of an engine that I am developing along with a friend (learning purposes), I came to this doubt. Initially we had a Point constructor, like the following: var Point = function( x, y ) { this.x = x; this.y = y; }; But them we started to add some Vector math to it, and them decided to rename it to Vector2d. But now, some methods are a bit confusing (at least in my opinion), such as the following, which is used to make a line: //before the renaming of Point to Vector2, the parameters were startingPoint and endingPoint Geometry.Line = function( startingVector, endingVector ) { //... }; I should make a specific constructor for the Point object, or there are no problems in defining a point as a vector? I know a vector have magnitude and direction, but I see so many people using a vector to just represent the position of an object.

However, I don't fully understand them. I have a little knowledge on testing using assert(), but have no idea how to go about it when it involves verifying the result on HTML elements.

  I've got HDD (750 GB) and SSD (16 GB). I want to install Ubuntu (13.10) on SSD, but because of its smallness I need to install /home, /var and /tmp on HDD. After that I would like to install Windows (system + data) on another partition of that HDD, but it is not important now. I installed Ubuntu (I had formatted and partitioned the disk before), but when I restarted my laptop it said: 'error: file '/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found. grub rescue'. I tried to reinstall Grub 2 using this tutorial (as sdXY I used sdb1, because it's the only one partion of my SSD), but it didn't work. Can anybody help me, please? Thanks, Tatarkow

Everything works fine on my Windows 7 machine, but on my Fedora 16 laptop, if I use Nautilus to try to access the share using smb://192.168.0.8/nathan in the location bar, it just has the loading cursor and does nothing. • Kendo Grid: Foreign Key Dropdown does not update grid cell after update

  I have a Kendo MVC grid that contains a nullable property (short) that is bound as a foreign key and uses a dropdown list as an editor template. I am also using inline editing. When the property value is null, the dropdown list selected value does not get set into the grid cell after the update button is clicked. This works fine if incell editing is used. I am looking for a workaround that will solve my problem. I am including a stripped down version of my code below Everything works if the nullable value is set to a non-null value.   Hi all, i'm running an Apache Tomcat 6.0.20 / MySQL 5.1.37-lubuntu / sun-java6-jdk /sun-java6-jre / sun-java6-bin on my local machine using Ubuntu 9.10 as OS.   I have a legacy application that used binary serialisation to persist the data. Now we wanted to use Json.net 4.5 to serialise the data without much changes to the existing classes. Things were working nice till we hit a circular dependent class. Is there any workaround to solve this problem?
