• Saving multiple attachments in phpmyadmin [closed]

  I am sending multiple attachments with an Email message. I am saving the Email message and Email Address in database (i.e., phpmyadmin). Now i want to save the multiple attachments data i.e., Contents of file, Extension, Size and name of file , How can i do it. I am getting the size of file now by the following code in javascript: var size = this.files[0].size; I am a new in php, so any easy tutorials, and help you can specify.. Also i want all the Attachments (maximum 5) to be saved in one cell (i.e., FileContents) in database, same the extensions and sizes collective of all attachments in one cell (i.e., Extensions). • Is there an apt command to download a deb file to the current directory?

  I am often interested in the installation triggers (postinst, postrm) or certain parts (/usr/share or /etc) of packages. Currently, I am running the next command to retrieve the source code: apt-get source [package-name] The downside is, this file is often much bigger than the binary package and does not reflect the installation tree. Right now, I am downloading the packages through http://packages.ubuntu.com/: Search for [package-name] Select the package Click on amd64/i386 for download Download the actual file This takes too long for me and as someone who really likes the shell, I would like to do something like the next (imaginary) command: apt-get get-deb-file [package-name] I could not find something like this in the apt-get manual page. The most close I found was the --download-only switch, but this puts the package in /var/cache/apt/archives (which requires root permissions) and not in the current directory.

  I've followed this guide to put Bumblebee to work. Everything was working perfect and I was happy playing my Steam games using primusrun to run them. • How to fix additional STA driver installation error on 12.04

  I have a Broadcom BCM4313 wireless driver. It worked fine under 11.04 and the upgrade to 11.10 also went smoothly. The 12.04 upgrade has broken the wireless connection. I've seen several posts about this and all presume you can activate the STA drivers, but that's where it fails on this machine. The log is in /var/log/jockey.log: WARNING: modinfo for module wl failed: ERROR: modinfo: could not find module wl WARNING: /sys/module/wl/drivers does not exist, cannot rebind wl driver DEBUG: BroadcomWLHandler enabled(): kmod disabled, bcm43xx: blacklisted, b43: blacklisted, b43legacy: blacklisted (repeat of last error several times) Any ideas how to proceed?

• Dependency problem while missing package is already installed

  I am trying to install a program but I am getting a dependency error. The error clearly points out: Dependency is not satisfiable: libc6-amd64 (>= 2.14) I went on to investigate and I found out that I have 2.19 version installed, actually: alex@MaD-pc:~$ apt-cache policy libc6-amd64 libc6-amd64:i386: Installed: 2.19-0ubuntu6 Candidate: 2.19-0ubuntu6 Version table: *** 2.19-0ubuntu6 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Why am I getting this error if I already have this package? I also should probably mention that the system is 100% up to date. I run the updates and upgrades, restarted the system and then tried to install the package again with the same error popping up. Edit 1: I am using amd64 but I have installed some 32-bit libraries required by some program installed via wine if I recall correctly.

• Cron doesn't execute one of the scheduled jobs

  I'm using a lubuntu desktop, distribution Ubuntu 13.10, i686. This is my problem: in the job list scheduled by cron a job hasn't effect, but in /var/log/syslog its execution is traced. This is the relative log line: Jun 4 09:06:01 kiosk CRON[14189]: (root) CMD (/usr/bin/xinput set-prop 12 --type=float "Coordinate Transformation Matrix" 0 -1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 /tmp/mybackup.log) This job should rotate touchscreen mapping. I try different solutions: I substitute in crontab the with bash -c "", I set "export DISPLAY=:0.0" ("for Graphics related job in Unix Environment we need to set first the DISPLAY...") before the command,...and many other! I know there are a lots of details affect cron execution (path, environment variables, special character and other) and I have no more idea by now :( Could some gentleman suggest me an idea? where can I find the problem? Eps has a data type of double.   I have a character composed of five bodies which are tied together by a lot of joints. On of them is the overall chassis, to which all forces and impulses are applied to move the whole Character. All in all that works very fine, except one thing: I need to set the Position of the Character so that it get Beamed from one place to the other in one single frame. Unfortunately I cannot get this to work. • NetworkManager doesn't detect my broadband device

  I have a Huawei K3765 (USB ID 12D1:1520) and I'm trying to use it with Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid. I have usb-modeswitch installed, so when I plug the device I can see that it gets switched from storage-mode to modem-mode. My problem is that when I try to create a broadband mobile connection for it, NetworkManager doesn't detect the modem... I tried this on two different laptops. /var/log/daemon.log doesn't show anything of interest, AFAIKT... What could I try?

  I need to send server reports to myself from my remote servers, and I don't mind them going to spam, so I don't need SPF, DKIM, etc. I tried using mailutils to send something like this: uptime | mail -s "uptime" [email protected], but the emails don't go through. In /var/mail/root I received a message saying the HELO was invalid. So then I tried also adding -r root@my-ip, and now I don't get any error messages but I don't receive the email either. How can I do this?

According to my idea, we should write: From Employee e Select e.Name So why the norm says: Select e.Name -- Eeeeek, what e means ? From Employee e -- Ok, now I know what e is It took me weeks to understand SQL, and I know that a lot of that time was consumed by the wrong order of elements. It is like writing in C#: string name = employee.Name; var employee = this.GetEmployee(); So, I assume that it has a historical reason, anyone knows why?

• Alps touchpad detected as a mouse, can't enable/disable multitouch

  Now I know that this has been asked several times here but I couldn't find any decent solution to it. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on my DELL N5110 and my touchpad is detected as a mouse, So I don't have the touchpad options availiable. Can't use multitouch and can't disable it either. I have tried the dkms driver from this link. But when I tried to install it with dpkg -i command, dpkg returns the following error: ERROR (dkms apport): unable to determine source package for psmouse-alps-dkms Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.2.0-25-generic-pae (i686) Consult /var/lib/dkms/psmouse-alps/0.10/build/make.log for more information. I have installed all the updates as well. Can someone help me out with this issue?

• Cannot resume from hibernate (s2disk)

  I seem to be able to hibernate OK using s2disk, but when I switch the laptop back on, it seems to hang half-way through the "resuming" menu. The splash screen looks healthy, it seems to be trying to resume from the correct disk, but it hangs about half-way through, with three little pips. One great help would be - where can I find the logs, and how do I get more verbose ones? There is some info in /var/log/pm-suspend.log, but that all seems fine, just lots of hibernate: success messages... How do I switch on more verbose logging in s2disk? And what about the resume process, where are the logs for that, and how can I make them more detailed? Background: the standard Ubuntu hibernate wouldn't work, so I've install uswusp and its associated tools - s2disk etc. That initially made things worse, but a fair amount of fiddling with its config, my swap size and so on seem to have got it at least seemingly successfully suspending...

  I have a dual boot system with 12.04 and windows 7. Ubuntu worked fine yesterday but this morning upon boot I get subject. Searched the forums and unsuccessful with recovery. • Why is using an external USB drive or USB printer causing my system to hang?

  I am having some troubles using various external hard drives and my printer, all of which I connect using USB. The majority of the time, when I connect either of these devices, my system freezes up completely after about 10 minutes. They work just fine prior to that moment. I've also not noticed any problems using a USB mouse. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 and have tried using a newer kernel (a 2.6.36 Maverick kernel from the kernel ppa, as opposed to the default 2.6.35 one) to no avail. I'm using a Dell Studio XPS 16 (M1647) which is a sort of newish laptop and so my guess is this is probably some kind of driver bug. Is there anyway to debug these sorts of issues? I've looked through some of my logs (/var/log/messages seemed the most useful) but haven't been able to find any kind of USB related logging nor anything interesting happening prior to the hang.

• Can exim be configured to send all emails externally?

  How do I configure exim4 to route all emails via a third-party SMTP server when the sender's domain, recipient's domain, and server hostname all match? I followed this great answer and have exim4 sending emails to addresses at other domains tested and working from an Ubuntu server. My only issue is that emails where both the sender and recipient share the same domain as the server hostname, they never leave the server (and this is the expected behavior). For example, sending from [email protected] -- [email protected] works fine, but sending from [email protected] -- [email protected] just routes the mail locally to /var/mail/account2, without passing through the third-party SMTP server. I'm using Google Apps at my own domain and want to send emails from [email protected] to [email protected] from a machine with the hostname example.com. I want to route them through Google's SMTP server so I see them in my other email clients. Is this possible? Very similar questions (but for postfix) here and here.

• Setting up lvm with HDD and SSD

  My current hard drive is just about full and rather than just toss it and get a new one (since it works fine), I want to get a new drive and set them both up using lvm. While I'm at it, I also want to get an SSD to install the OS and applications on. This is my plan: Put / on the SSD (one partition) Put /tmp on a ram disk Put /var on a partition on my new drive Put /home on the rest of the new drive and my current drive using lvm. My goals are: Speed up boot time and application launch Minimize unnecessary writes to the SSD Never have to worry about which disk/partition to store my files on. I want the OS & lvm to take care of that Does this make sense? I'm fairly experienced with Ubuntu but I've never dealt with lvm before.
