  • Trouble dragging and dropping gui components onto other .net forms using NHibernate

    Hi, using VS2008, here. I have a GUI component that loads some stuff from a database mapped by nhibernate in its constructor. When I drag and drop this component onto another form from the toolbox, NHibernate complains that it can't find the config file in program files\visual studio 9\common7\ide. Why is it looking here for the cfg file? I'm actually calling database stuff through another project in the same solution, and the cfg file is located at the root of that project. copy/pasting the cfg file over to there does work, but I'm working with svn here and I don't want to have configuration files outside the repository. Something else that would help would be turning off how it tries to load the data in the form design screen. How would I do that?

  • .NET read binary contents of .lnk file

    I want to read the binary contents of a .lnk file. As long as the target of the shortcut (lnk file) exists this works fine with IO.File.ReadAllBytes(string file). BUT If the target of the shortcut does not exist (believe me I want this) the method only returns zero's. I guess this is because the OS follows the link and if it does not exist it returns zero's Is there some way to bypass the fact that the framework follows the target of the .lnk before displaying the contents of the .lnk file?

I'm developing NerdDinner from scratch and now I came to point where I define DinnerViewModel.   • If .net sha1 hash expects a byte array, and php sha1() wants a string, can I match the results?

    I have a set of bytes I want to apply an sha1 hash to. One hash will be in .net, the other in PHP. Then I'll test to see if they match. In .net, you can create a byte array and use sha.ComputeHash(). byte[] data = new byte[DATA_SIZE]; byte[] result; SHA1 sha = new SHA1CryptoServiceProvider(); // This is one implementation of the abstract class SHA1. result = sha.ComputeHash(data); In PHP, you call sha1($string). I can't do anything about the .net side of the code, but how can I get the same hash out of PHP that .net will generate? Please note: I am ONLY able to work on the PHP side of this. The .net stuff is fixed and can't be modified. Thanks!

  • How to build a simulation of a login hardware token in .Net

    Hi, i have a hardware token for remote login to some citrix environment. When i click the button on the device, i get an id and i can use that to login to the citrix farm. I can click the button as much as i like, and every time a new code gets generated, and they all work. Now i want to secure my private website likewise, but not with the hardware token, but with a 'token app' on my phone. So i run an app on my phone, generate a key, and use that to (partly) authenticate myself on the server. But here's the point: i don't know how it works! How can i generate 1, 2 or 100 keys at one time which i can see (on the server) are all valid, but without the server and the phone app having contact (the hardware token also is an 'offline' solution). Can you help me with a hint how i would do this? This is what i thought of so far: the phone app and the server app know (hardcoded) the same encryption key. The phone app encrypts the current time. The server app decrypts the string to the current time and if the diff between that time and the actual server time is less than 10 minutes it's an ok. Difficult for other users to fake a key, but encryption gives such nasty strings to enter, and the hardware token gives me nice things like 'H554TU8' And this is probably not how the real hardware token works, because the server and the phone app must 'know' the same encryption key.   • Deployment of a .NET application making use of SQL Server 2008

    I have searched the internet thoroughly for this type of issue, there were responses but hasn't really found a concrete solution yet. I have an application which makes use of SQL Server 2008 R2 and thus it makes connections with a database file which I have set up. The application executes successfully, makes connections with the database and retrieves/inserts/updates data to and fro the database. However when I come to create a deployment project i.e. a setup project, I fail to transfer my database files to other computers and make database connections. I have checked the SQL Server 2008 prerequisite in the publish settings of the application and has also included the database files. Can anyone suggest the best way to this type of setup? Thanks

  • Problem with assembly loading in .NET

    Hi guys, I have got two projects in my solution: Silverlight and standard one. The standard one references System.Xml assembly (version 4.0.0.0), however the Silverlight one references System.Xml assembly (v. 2.0.5.0). I want to make an instance of XmlWriter in my Silverlight project. Here comes the problem - the exception is thrown (file not found for System.Xml assembly). I believe it is a matter of different assembly versions. Do you have any idea how to resolve this issue? Ive read something about the binding redirection - is it the key to the solution? If so, how to do this? Thank you in advance for the reply! Cheers.

I'm assuming it's something to do with the template being processed at compile time but even if I'm off the mark there, it wouldn't solve my problem anyway. I can't find any relevant information on using Reflection to instance template classes either. (How) can I create an instance of a dynamically typed repository at runtime?

    Hello all, My question is quite simple, I created a DIV, with a HyperLink control in it. As following: I created an 'onclick' event in jQuery for the DIV as well: $('#divOne').click(function() { alert('You clicked on the DIV element'); }); My goal is to trigger this event when the DIV area is clicked (working fine), BUT- When the HyperLink is clicked, I need the page to redirect WITHOUT triggering the DIV 'onclick' event (can use JavaScript or jQuery as needed).     I have a nullable date in my database. I am connecting to it with a LinqDataSource, and binding with a FormView. It allows you to place dates fine, but if you remove the date I need it to insert the null value to the db. It is instead throwing an exception. <asp:TextBox ID="TxtStartDate" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("StartDate", "{0:MM/dd/yyyy}") %>' /> Works fine if you place a date in it, but if you delete the date out of it and save, you get System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlTypeException: SqlDateTime overflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM. How do I make it send null?

  • Retrieve Storage and Programs Memory on .NET Compact Framework 2 and WM5

    Hi! I've been looking for quite a while already and still couldn't find a solution for this. All I need is to retrieve the memory levels and percentage of use. OpenNETCF has a MemoryManagement class, which seems to encapsulates a data structure returned through a P/Invoke or something like that, and it gives me the TotalPhysicalMemory, TotalVirtualMemory, AvailablePhisicalMemory and such, but those do not directly relate to Storage and Programs, nor could I find a way to "convert" these attributes to those I need. Has anyone there already done this? It must be easy, I just need the very same values available on Settings System Memory. Thanks in advance! edit: I'm already being able to retrieve Available and total Storage memory through the GetDiskFreeSpaceEx P/Invoke. Since Storage and Programs memory seem to rely into the same hardware, maybe it's just a case of finding out what path to pass as the method's first parameter.

    I've created an Area named "Admin". I've created also a controller(Pages) and a view(List) in this areas. When I run my app and enter the url "/Admin/Pages/List" I'm getting an The resource cannot be found error. When I enter /Pages/List, the Action method is hit but the view is not found,because the app is searching in wrong directories ~/Views/Pages/List.aspx ~/Views/Pages/List.ascx ~/Views/Shared/List.aspx ~/Views/Shared/List.ascx the view is in /Admin/Pages/List. The theme stays the same, I just want skin A to apply when a certain browser is used, and skin B when another browser is used. I know I can have server-side code to check and then set the SkinId of the control to either or, but is there another, more global way? Thanks

    I have UserControl, which is used for editing fields of some object. I had a page with this control, where user filled the fields, pressed "Submit" and object inserted in DB. And everything was Ok. But now user wants to insert several objects by one submit. So I need to implement dynamic adding of this control. What is the simpliest way to do it? The only way I see is to specify "+" button and to create control in its OnClick handler. But it is very dull. I think it is very common issue and there are better variants.

  • Achieving AES-256 Channel Encryption with the .NET Compact Framework

    Hi There, I am working on a business application where the clients are Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional devices. The server is a Java enterprise application. The industry working group recommends AES-256 encryption for client/server communications. This is necessary to gain certification. The encryption doesn't necessarily need to be channel encryption, it could be payload encryption. Channel encryption is preferable. The client and server communicate using SOAP/HTTP, which we are yet to implement. We plan to use WCF on the compact framework. In order to alleviate some of the work required to implement manual encryption/decryption, it would be nice if we could achieve the required encryption either at the TLS level, or somehow using the WS-* standards (I'm not particularly familiar with that group of technologies but I am learning right now). The server supports https with 256-bit AES. Does anybody have an idea on the best way to implement this? Thanks in advance.
