• Casting functions -- Is it a code smell?

  Hi I have a Date value like 01/01/2010 14:30:00 in a cell in Excel sheet. I want to convert that Date to Text and also want the Text to look exactly like Date. So a Date value of 01/01/2010 14:30:00 should look like 01/01/2010 14:30:00 but internally it should be Text. How can I do that in Excel? Thank you! Chaitanya

  Hi there here is what I would like to do. I get a List of objects from a database and bind this list to a ListBox Control. The ListBoxItems consist of a textbox and a button. Here is what I came up with. Up to this point it works as intended. The object has a number of Properties like ID, Name. • Specify XML schema data type of decimal or blank

  Is there a way in an XML schema to specify that an element may contain either an empty string or a decimal? If I specify the type as xs:decimal like this: <xs:element name="Sample" type="xs:decimal" /> then a blank value would not pass validation: <Sample/> (I realize that the best way to indicate no value would be to not include the element, but I was wondering if there was a way to allow blank or decimal.)

• Persist header data across reply emails

  Am trying to determine the best way to persist information from an originating email, through to a reply back. Essentially, it is to pass a GUID from the original email (c#), whereby when the receiver replies back, that GUID is also sent back for reference. I have tried setting the MessageID, whereby using Outlook, the In-Reply-To value is set with the original ID, however using some webclient email systems, that value is not created on reply. Is there another way to sent this info through email headers?

  Is there any way of retrieving an absolute URL for a file on a mounted volume in Cocoa? For example, say afp://server/Documents is mounted at /Volumes/Documents. How can I get full URL to a file on the mounted volume in the form of afp://server/Documents/path/to/file? I've tried using statfs but the value of f_mntfromname doesn't contain a url, it contains the same value that is given by the mount command.

• Cache SHA1 digest result?

  I'm storing several versions of a file based on a digest of the original filename and its version, like this: $filename = sha1($original . ':' . $version); Would it be worth it to cache the digest ($filename) in memcache as a key/value pair (the key being the original + version and value the sha1 hash), or is generating the digest quick enough (for a high traffic php web app)? What is the fundamental reason? Is NSInteger or int strictly limited to if we want to represent negative value?

  Hi there, I have an algorithm for creating the sieve of Eratosthenes and pulling primes from it. It lets you enter a max value for the sieve and the algorithm gives you the primes below that value and stores these in a c-style array. Problem: Everything works fine with values up to 500.000, however when I enter a large value -while running- it gives me the following error message in xcode: Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”. warning: Unable to restore previously selected frame. Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Not safe to call dlopen at this time.) My first idea was that I didn't use large enough variables, but as I am using 'unsigned long long int', this should not be the problem. Also the debugger points me to a point in my code where a point in the array get assigned a value. Therefore I wonder is there a maximum limit to an array? If yes: should I use NSArray instead? If no, then what is causing this error based on this information? EDIT: This is what the code looks like (it's not complete, for it fails at the last line posted).   I am trying to use marker.setIcon() to change a markers image. However it appears that although this changes the marker.iconUrl attribute the icon itself is using marker.proprietary_marker.$.icon.image to display the markers image - so the markers icon remains unchanged. Is there a way to dynamically change the marker.proprietary_marker.$.icon.image? Add a marker. Check the icon's image url and the proprietary icon's image - they're the same. Change the icon. Again check the Urls. But anyways, I have here a subdomain which i wish to pass on wildcard sub-subdomains and make a proper htaccess redirect to a sub-folder (relative to the server root) equivalent to the wildcard value such that *.subdomain.domain.tld will redirect to subdomain.domain.tld/* where * = wildcard value I hope you get my question. Can someone shed some light on this? I would appreciate it very much =)

• JavaScript regex - positive lookahead -- giving me syntax errors

  This piece of regex (?<=href\=")[^]+?(?=#_) is supposed to match everything in a href value except the the hash value and what follows it within the href url. It appears to work fine under Regex debuggers/testers such as http://gskinner.com/RegExr/ but in javascript it appears to produce syntax error. If i remove the < from the (?<=) it works however, that's not the positive lookahead I am looking for. I am pulling my hair off, as usual, thanks to Regex lol Please help

  Hello, How can I do this in Moq? Foo bar = new Foo(); Fake(bar.PrivateGetter).Return('whatever value') It seems I can only find how to mock an object that was created via the framework. I want to mock just a single method/property on a concrete object I've created... In TypeMock, I would just do Isolate.WhenCalled(bar.PrivateGetter).Returns('whatever value').. Any ideas?
