  • Git - git add in a gitignore directory

    If my .gitignore file has tmp\ in it and I do a git add file.test from tmp, Git adds file.test to the repository. If file.test never changes, than this is as good as a one time add to the repository, right? Say for static files that I want to be in version control. You want the file in an initial clone and that's it. I assume file.test doesn't get tracked, so if there are updates, Git doesn't see it as modified?

    I have an AppEngine application that uses the blobstore to store user-provided image data. When I upload images to that application from a form in Chrome it works fine. When I try to upload an image from an Android application it fails. Both methods work fine if I am running against the development server, but the Android upload doesn't work against the live service.     As you can see in my jsFiddle example, I have a diagram that uses jQuery Map Highlight plugin to allow users to click to different parts of the diagram and see the corresponding text to the left. Right now, the only way to interact with the diagram is by clicking on it. I'd like to give users the ability to hit previous and next buttons to control it as well. However, if there are some "conflicting" debug modes, I am not sure how to set the "precedence of debue_modes"? Also, I am not certain if my approach is good enough to Perlists and I hope I am getting my feet in the right direction. One biggest problem is that I now put if statements inside most of my subroutines for controlling their behavior under different modes. Is this okay? Is there a more elegant way? I know there must be a debug module from CPAN or elsewhere, but I wanna a real minimal solution that doesn't depend on any other module than the "default" And I cannot have any control on the environment where this script will be executed...     Regarding gridviews that are not bound to a Data Source Control: In most GridView tutorials that I have seen, when just about any GridView event occurs, the end of the event handler will include BindDataGrid(). In some form, these BindDataGrid() functions 1) Grab data from the database 2) Assign any Filter or Sort expressions to the data, and 3) Bind the gridview to that data source (usually a DataView or DataTable. Is there a better way to provide filterable & sortable data to a GridView without having to hit the database so often? Thanks

I have no control over the hosting or the server's lack of database support. Prevayler seemed a good solution, but the website is a ghost town, with example code missing from just about everywhere it's supposed to be, so I'm a little wary.
