• Java and Sendmail HELO requires domain address

  I am trying to set up emailing from a java web application hosted on a linux server (Cent OS) in apache. Sendmail is working fine from the command line as root on localhost but when trying to send emails from the java web app (also on the same server from localhost) the following java exception is thrown. 501 5.0.0 HELO requires domain address EDIT: I have read that some people have found this is due to an incorrect hosts entry currently the hosts file contains 127.0.0.1 Centos-VPS localhost.localdomain localhost and i'm not sure what the Centos-VPS bit at the start is for but this is a clients hosted server so don't really want to break stuff EDIT see the RFC is helpful ... 501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments Now I know what the problem is! (note the sarcasm people.)

  Hi all, I have got a cookie string from HTTP response header like the following line: name=value; path=/; domain=.g.cn; expire=... I can parse the above line to key-value pairs, and, also it's easy to set the name and value to HttpCookie instance as this pair comes the first. But how to set the other pairs since I don't know which set-method corresponds to the name of the next name-value pair. Traverse all possible keys a cookie may contian and call the matched set-method, like below snippet? if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("path")) cookie.setPath(value); else if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("domain")) cookie.setDomain(value); That's foolish, any convenient ways?   I read a question earlier asking if there was a times method in Python, that would allow a function to be called n times in a row. Everyone suggested for _ in range(n): foo() but I wanted to try and code a different solution using a function decorator. Here's what I have: def times(self, n, *args, **kwargs): for _ in range(n): self.__call__(*args, **kwargs) import new def repeatable(func): func.times = new.instancemethod(times, func, func.__class__) @repeatable def threeArgs(one, two, three): print one, two, three threeArgs.times(7, "one", two="rawr", three="foo") When I run the program, I get the following exception: Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 244, in run_nodebug File "C:\py\repeatable.py", line 24, in threeArgs.times(7, "one", two="rawr", three="foo") AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'times' So I suppose the decorator didn't work? How can I fix this?

• 2 GB of memory in 1 GB system is a problem?

  Hi folks, I just installed 2 1 Gig sticks into my friend's machine, thinking that it would take all the 2 GBs. Unfortunately, according to Dell's website, it says the maximum amount of memory accessible to the machine is arbitrarily set to 1 GB! The system indeed reports having 1 GB of memory accessible to it, but I'm worried that having 2 GB in there might break something. Are my fears reasonable? Should I buy two 512 MB sticks instead? • [C#] Creating standalone, console (shell) for domain-specific operations

  Say that I have a system service, and I want to offer a low-level maintenance access to it. For that purpose, I'd like to create a standalone, console application that somehow connects to server process and lets user type in commands, allow it to use auto-completion and auto-suggestion on single/double TAB press (just like linux bash shell, mysql cli, cmd.exe, and countless others), allow command line editing capabilities (history, cursor keys to move around text..), etc. Now, it's not that much of a problem to create something like that by rolling my own from scratch, handling user input, scanning pressed keys, and doing correct actions. But, why reinvent the wheel? Is there some library/framework that helps with this kind of problems, just like readline library that offers improved command-line editing capabilities under linux? Of course, this new "shell" would respond only to valid, domain-specific commands, and would suggest valid arguments, options, switches... Any ideas? Thanks!

  I'm a happy user of PortableGit 1.7.0.2. Today I wanted to pull a project changes from GitHub.com repository, so I did git pull. It failed with the following message: error: Your local changes to 'main.rb' would be overwritten by merge. Aborting.. I didn't care about the local changes so I typed git reset --hard HEAD (git clean from here didn't help neither), but it didn't work. When asked for git status I was still able to see the file as modified. git diff showed me that each line of the file has been modified, while git diff -b showed no differences at all, so I guess this is a line ending issue. Which is strange because the code is only pushed from Windows machines. Anyway, the question is: how can I ignore the local, bogus changes and merge with the latest changes from the remote repository?

• Javascript function returning number with two decimals...?

  I have a function to return points along a line and my return comes back with two decimal points...? For example, a return of my variable px will be something like -88.4029.032940598. vx is the x vector and mult is the distance of the line plus distance to calculate the point. Here is the operation that is returning these values: var mult = parseFloat(mag + theUnit); var px = coord_one.x_point + (vx * mult); console.log(px); Never have seen this before- I appreciate any and all help!

• Java import from other directory

  Hi People! I am building a Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) with Java. I won't get into details But I have to build multiple servers who make use of the same classes. I have the following directory structure: /server1 -Main.java /server2 -Main.java /com -Database.java I want to import from the Main.java class for example the Database.class. But of course the following statements won't work: import com.Database; I am working with the javac compiler in the command line (so not eclipse stuff or whatever. just TextMate and the command line). And I found a (pretty stupid) solution by creating a symbolic link in the servers to the com directory. But that is not really an ideal solution. Does anybody have a better one?? THANXS in advanced!! :D

• How to merge branches in Git by "hunk"

  Here's the scenario. I made a "dev" branch off the "master" branch and made a few new commits. Some of those changes are going to only be relevant to my local development machine. For example I changed a URL variable to point to a local apache server instead of the real URL that's posted online (I did this for speed during the testing phase). Now I'd like to incorporate my changes from the dev branch into the master branch but NOT those changes which only make sense in my local environment. I'd envisioned something like a merge --patch which would allow me to choose the changes I want to merge line by line. Alternatively maybe I could checkout the "master" branch, but keep the files in my working directory as they were in the "dev" branch, then do a git add --patch. Would that work?

• VB6 debugging- doesn't go to error handling code.

  Hi, I'm maintaining a vb6 project(ActiveX DLL). When debugging, the app run into the following function: Public Function HasValue(ByVal vValue) As Boolean On Error GoTo Err If IsMissing(vValue) Then HasValue = False ElseIf IsNull(vValue) Or Len(vValue) = 0 Then HasValue = False ElseIf isEmpty(vValue) Then HasValue = False Else HasValue = True End If Exit Function Err: If IsArray(vValue) Or IsObject(vValue) Then HasValue = True Else HasValue = False End If End Function and it stops at the line ElseIf IsNull(vValue) Or Len(vValue) = 0 Then vValue is a custom object, contains some properties(obviously, not null). Although I didn't put any break point there, the app stopped there and alerted error dialog saying that "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method". We had error handling code but the app didn't run to error handling code. It just stopped at the line causing the error and I had to stop the application. Do you have any idea about that? • Cannot SSH into Virtual Machine

  I am running a CentOS VM on my desktop that I use for development testing when coding in python. At my school I have a dedicated IP setup for the VM and my desktop so I never seem to have an issue ssh'ing from desktop into VM. I am now at home for winter break and cannot seem to SSH into the VM using the local ip address behind my router, the external IP with port 22 forwarded to my VM, or anything. Strangely enough I can ssh into my production server and then fromt here ssh into the VM, but not from my desktop to the VM directly What should I do to get this to work? Thanks

  I'm working on a spoj problem, INTEST. The goal is to specify the number of test cases (n) and a divisor (k), then feed your program n numbers. The program will accept each number on a newline of stdin and after receiving the nth number, will tell you how many were divisible by k. The only challenge in this problem is getting your code to be FAST because it k can be anything up to 10^7 and the test cases can be as high as 10^9. I'm trying to write it in python and having trouble speeding it up. • codeigniter problem with mod_rewrite on apache 1.3

  Anybody came into this before? Hosting a site on godaddy, the site is developed in codeigniter framework(php), to get pretty url, put this into .htacess RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|robots\.txt) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] problem is only domain.com/index.php seems to work, other urls e.g domain.com/user/login won't work, codeigniter always returns '404 page'. Is there anything going on with godaddy's mod_rewrite or just their apache which as I know is version 1.3. Any clue? [update] a bit CI debug, found /system/libraries/Router.php line 239, line show_404( $segments[0] ); always gets invoded. $segments [ 0='index.php' ], that seems to be the problem, but why? All works on my dev box which is in apache2

  I am using VS2008. I have a project, SystemSoftware project, connect with a database and we are using L2E. I have a RuntimeInfo class which contains some shared information there. I don't want to create another set of Entity Data Model in the helper project. I just added all related files as a link in the new helper project. In the AndeDataViewer project, I get the connection string from above RuntimeInfo class which is a class from my SystemSoftware project as a linked file. The code in AndeDataViewer is like this: public class DbAccess : IDisposable { private String connStr = String.Empty; public DbAccess() { connStr = RuntimeInfo.AndeDBConnStr; } } My SystemSoftware works fine that means the RuntimeInfo class has no problem there. If I comment that line in it will not compile. Am I missing something or should I not be using Visual Studio 2010 to compile C code. • Trouble converting string/character to byte in lisp

  I've some data that I'm reading in using read-line and I want to convert it into a byte-array. babel:string-to-octet works for the most part except when the character\byte is larger (above 200) in which case it returns two numbers. As an example, if the character is ú using babel:string-to-octet returns (195 185) instead of 250 which is what I'm looking for. I tried a number of encodings in babel but none of them seem to work. If I use read-byte or read-sequence it does read in 250. But for reasons of backward compatibility, I'm left with using read-line and I would like to know if there is something I'm missing when using babel:string-to-octet to convert ú to 250. I'm using ccl 1.8 btw.

  I was trying to understand how webkit parses urls, and I'm having a hard time making heads or tails of this: Vector<char, 4096> buffer(fragmentEnd * 3 + 1); This line is on line 1214 (you can see it here: http://trac.webkit.org/browser/trunk/WebCore/platform/KURL.cpp#L1214). I get that it's making a vector of type char, with each entry being an array of char 4096 bytes large, but I don't get the buffer(fragmentEnd * 3 + 1) part. I think that it confuses me most b/c I can't find where the buffer variable is instantiated anywhere (shouldn't it be something more like Vector<char, 4096> buffer = new Vector<char, 4096>(...)? • FindControl() method throws ArithmeticException?

  I have a line of C# in my ASP.NET code behind that looks like this: DropDownList ddlStates = (DropDownList)fvAccountSummary.FindControl("ddlStates"); The DropDownList control is explicitly declared in the markup on the page, not dynamically created. It is inside of a FormView control. When my code hits this line, I am getting an ArithmeticException with the message "Value was either too large or too small for an Int32." This code has worked previously, and is in production right now. I fired up VS2008 to make some changes to the site, but before I changed anything, I got this exception from the page. Anyone seen this one before?
