• weird result with c# winForms array of Lists

  so I'm trying to store values in an array of Lists in C# winForms.   I am new to LINQ, and so am struggle over some queries that I'm sure are pretty simple. In any case, I have been hiting my head against this for a while, but I'm stumped. Can anyone here help me convert this T-SQL query into a LINQ query? • OpenVPN on ec2 bridged mode connects but no Ping, DNS or forwarding

  I am trying to use OpenVPN to access the internet over a secure connection. I have openVPN configured and running on Amazon EC2 in bridge mode with client certs. • UIImagePickerController image editing not working

  I am having a problem with implementing UIImagePickerController. When the controller loads, it displays modally, and allows the user to select the image. Good so far. Yet, then when it moves to the editing phase, it often displays somewhat corrupted view (the image cropping box is halfway off the top of the screen) and their is no image. It does not crash, but all UI interaction is blocked. The strange part is that this only happens when I compile with Release settings. Under debug compile settings, the image editing works fine! I have tried checking for memory warnings during this time, but none are showing up. Here is the code calling the image picker controller for reference. When I use the camera (the first method), it always works fine. It is just when selecting images from the Library (called from the second method below) does it fail as described above. It is failing when displaying the editing screen before the user is able to select cancel or save. It is just locking up with no crash. Please help!

• Using Hibernate's ScrollableResults to slowly read 90 million records

  I simply need to read each row in a table in my MySQL database using Hibernate and write a file based on it. But there are 90 million rows and they are pretty big. So it seemed like the following would be appropriate: ScrollableResults results = session.createQuery("SELECT person FROM Person person") .setReadOnly(true).setCacheable(false).scroll(ScrollMode.FORWARD_ONLY); while (results.next()) storeInFile(results.get()[0]); The problem is the above will try and load all 90 million rows into RAM before moving on to the while loop... and that will kill my memory with OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space exceptions :(. So I guess ScrollableResults isn't what I was looking for? What is the proper way to handle this? I don't mind if this while loop takes days (well I'd love it to not). I guess the only other way to handle this is to use setFirstResult and setMaxResults to iterate through the results and just use regular Hibernate results instead of ScrollableResults. That feels like it will be inefficient though and will start taking a ridiculously long time when I'm calling setFirstResult on the 89 millionth row... UPDATE: setFirstResult/setMaxResults doesn't work, it turns out to take an unusably long time to get to the offsets like I feared. There must be a solution here! Isn't this a pretty standard procedure?? I'm willing to forgo Hibernate and use JDBC or whatever it takes. UPDATE 2: the solution I've come up with which works ok, not great, is basically of the form: select * from person where id > <offset> and <other_conditions> limit 1 Since I have other conditions, even all in an index, it's still not as fast as I'd like it to be... so still open for other suggestions..

• Delay between printing via lp in opensuse

  I am experiencing a 10-15 second delay when printing multiple documents to a barcode printer in opensuse. I have had the same setup on other systems with older versions of opensuse without any issue. The setup is as follows: The print queue is setup as a "generic with driver Raw Queue". The files being sent down to the printers are simple text files with the lp command: lp -dprinter1 /path/file The printer is a JetDirect compatible device (Intermec brand) with a standard 9100 port socket setup. If I send a multi-page document to the printer, it will print nonstop the multiple pages. If I send 2 or more text files down via separate "lp" commands, the delay will be there between each printout. I've tried multiple different printers and they all experience the same issue.

• I'm trying to populate a MySQL table with some data, but, mysqli won't let me insert every 10th stat

  I want to initialise a 'ticket' table with some ticket IDs. To do this, I want to insert 120 ticket IDs into the table. However, at every 10th statement, MySQL tells me that the ID already exists and thus won't let me insert it. • systemd initiated uwsgi process shuts down after a while

  So I wrote this simple systemd service script:- [Unit] Description=uwsgi server script [Service] User=web Group=web WorkingDirectory=/var/www/prod/myproject/releases/current ExecStart=/bin/bash -c 'source ~/.bash_profile; workon myproject; uwsgi --ini /var/www/prod/myproject/releases/current/myproject/uwsgi_prod.ini' [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target which works fine - it starts up and I can see my uwsgi processes in htop. However, it inexplicably shuts down after being idle for 5 minutes. If I start this process manually in bash console by executing, as web user:- source ~/.bash_profile workon myproject uwsgi --ini /var/www/prod/myproject/releases/current/myproject/uwsgi_prod.ini my process does not die after being idle. What could the problem be?

• Trouble pre-populating drop down and textarea from MySQL Database

'" /><br /> However, when I try to do the same for a drop down box and a textarea box, nothing is pre-populated from the database, even though there is actual content in the database. • MySQL Full-Text Search Across Multiple Tables - Quick/Long Solution?

  Hello all, I have been doing a bit of research on full-text searches as we realized a series of LIKE statements are terrible. My first find was MySQL full-text searches. I tried to implement this and it worked on one table, failed when I was trying to join multiple tables, and so I consulted stackoverflow's articles (look at the end for a list of the ones I've been to) I didn't see anything that clearly answered my questions. I'm trying to get this done literally in an hour or two (quick solution) but I also want to do a better long term solution. I have a full-text index on that column. I saw one of the articles say to use an OR MATCH for this table, but won't that lose the effectiveness of being able to rank them together or match them properly? Other places said to use UNIONs but I don't know how to do that properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the idea of a long term solution it seems that either Sphinx or Lucene is best. Now by no means and I a MySQL guru, and I heard that Lucene is a bit more complicated to setup, any recommendations or directions would be great.   Hello, I have uploaded a part of my screen below (link: http://yfrog.com/0d30127380p) It is part of a forum, so there are elements above and below it. The "Response Req.. Date" has a label, a date picker, and two drop down select control for time. I tried setting the width of the datepicker element, and a right margin so that the time selectors would position next to it. But it always sit below it. • OpenStreetMap Proximity search using mySQL

  Hi, I'm just playing around with a dataset of my region generated by JOSM. I moved it into a mySQL DB with the 0.6 API scheme using Osmosis and now I'm desperately trying the following: I want to get all streets of a city. AFAIK there is no tag/relation in the OSM data to determine this so I tried it using a proximity search to get all nodes in a radius around a node representing the city center. Most of the time I looked at the approaches here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/574691/mysql-great-circle-distance-haversine-formula What I got is the following SQL code that should get me the closest 100 nodes around the node with id 36187002 and within a radius of 10km. set @nodeid = 36187002; set @dist = 10; select longitude, latitude into @mylon, @mylat from nodes where id=@nodeid limit 1; SELECT id, ( 6371 * acos( cos( radians(@mylon) ) * cos( radians( latitude ) ) * cos( radians( longitude ) - radians(@mylat) ) + sin( radians(@mylon) ) * sin( radians( latitude ) ) ) ) AS distance FROM nodes HAVING distance < @dist ORDER BY distance LIMIT 0 , 100; Well.. it doesn't work. :( I guess the main problem is that OSM lats/lons are multiplied by 10.000.000 and I don't know how I can correct this function to make it work. • Guice, JDBC and managing database connections

  I'm looking to create a sample project while learning Guice which uses JDBC to read/write to a SQL database. However, after years of using Spring and letting it abstract away connection handling and transactions I'm struggling to work it our conceptually. I'd like to have a service which starts and stops a transaction and calls numerous repositories which reuse the same connection and participate in the same transaction. My questions are: Where do I create my Datasource? How do I give the repositories access to the connection? (ThreadLocal?) Best way to manage the transaction (Creating an Interceptor for an annotation?) The code below shows how I would do this in Spring. The JdbcOperations injected into each repository would have access to the connection associated with the active transaction. I haven't been able to find many tutorials which cover this, beyond ones which show creating interceptors for transactions.
