  • Coverflow in HTML5 for iPhone/iPod Touch

    - by Stephanie
    Hi, I have to do a web page destined for iPhone and iPod-touch that needs to incorporate the Coverflow style of apple in a page to display a list of videos. I've heard something about gizmos that could help, but I can't find anything relevant or that could work properly with the iPhone/iPod-Touch navigation. Anyone knows something that could help me getting started? Thanks -Stephanie

  • Random pauses with "Key dispatching timed out sending to <null>" when closing Android SurfaceView

    - by kenyee
    When I close an Android SurfaceView Activity, the app sometimes pauses and almost gets an ANR (Application Not Responding) message. Looking at LogCat, it appears to be timing out trying to send keys to it. I tried modifying the code to setFocusable(false) when in the onKeyDown handler for the SurfaceView, but that doesn't seem to affect this. Any other ideas on what might be causing this? Or what these messages in Logcat even mean? ============================= 05-31 19:35:35.285: INFO/WindowManager(586): focus null mToken is null at event dispatch! 05-31 19:35:35.295: WARN/WindowManager(586): Current state: {{KeyEvent{action=1 code=4 repeat=0 meta=0 scancode=158 mFlags=8} to null @ 1275334535292 lw=null lb=null fin=true gfw=true ed=true tts=0 wf=false fp=false mcf=null}} 05-31 19:35:35.305: WARN/WindowManager(586): Continuing to wait for key to be dispatched 05-31 19:35:40.306: WARN/WindowManager(586): Key dispatching timed out sending to 05-31 19:35:40.316: WARN/WindowManager(586): Dispatch state: {{KeyEvent{action=0 code=4 repeat=0 meta=0 scancode=158 mFlags=8} to Window{43763540 com.myapp/com.myapp.DiagramEdit paused=false} @ 1275334499512 lw=Window{43763540 com.myapp/com.myapp.DiagramEdit paused=false} lb=android.os.BinderProxy@43702190 fin=false gfw=true ed=true tts=0 wf=false fp=false mcf=null}} 05-31 19:35:40.326: INFO/WindowManager(586): focus null mToken is null at event dispatch! 05-31 19:35:40.326: WARN/WindowManager(586): Current state: {{KeyEvent{action=1 code=4 repeat=0 meta=0 scancode=158 mFlags=8} to null @ 1275334540327 lw=null lb=null fin=true gfw=true ed=true tts=0 wf=false fp=false mcf=null}} 05-31 19:35:40.326: WARN/WindowManager(586): Continuing to wait for key to be dispatched

  • Memory leak involving jQuery Ajax requests

    - by Eli Courtwright
    I have a webpage that's leaking memory in both IE8 and Firefox; the memory usage displayed in the Windows Process Explorer just keeps growing over time. The following page requests the "unplanned.json" url, which is a static file that never changes (though I do set my Cache-control HTTP header to no-cache to make sure that the Ajax request always goes through). When it gets the results, it clears out an HTML table, loops over the json array it got back from the server, and dynamically adds a row to an HTML table for each entry in the array. Then it waits 2 seconds and repeats this process. Here's the entire webpage: <html> <head> <title>Test Page</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> function kickoff() { $.getJSON("unplanned.json", resetTable); } function resetTable(rows) { $("#content tbody").empty(); for(var i=0; i<rows.length; i++) { $("<tr>" + "<td>" + rows[i].mpe_name + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].bin + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].request_time + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].filtered_delta + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].failed_delta + "</td>" + "</tr>").appendTo("#content tbody"); } setTimeout(kickoff, 2000); } $(kickoff); </script> <table id="content" border="1" style="width:100% ; text-align:center"> <thead><tr> <th>MPE</th> <th>Bin</th> <th>When</th> <th>Filtered</th> <th>Failed</th> </tr></thead> <tbody></tbody> </table> </body> </html> If it helps, here's an example of the json I'm sending back (it's this exact array wuith thousands of entries instead of just one): [ { mpe_name: "DBOSS-995", request_time: "09/18/2009 11:51:06", bin: 4, filtered_delta: 1, failed_delta: 1 } ] EDIT: I've accepted Toran's extremely helpful answer, but I feel I should post some additional code, since his removefromdom jQuery plugin has some limitations: It only removes individual elements. So you can't give it a query like `$("#content tbody tr")` and expect it to remove all of the elements you've specified. Any element that you remove with it must have an `id` attribute. So if I want to remove my `tbody`, then I must assign an `id` to my `tbody` tag or else it will give an error. It removes the element itself and all of its descendants, so if you simply want to empty that element then you'll have to re-create it afterwards (or modify the plugin to empty instead of remove). So here's my page above modified to use Toran's plugin. For the sake of simplicity I didn't apply any of the general performance advice offered by Peter. Here's the page which now no longer memory leaks: <html> <head> <title>Test Page</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- $.fn.removefromdom = function(s) { if (!this) return; var el = document.getElementById(this.attr("id")); if (!el) return; var bin = document.getElementById("IELeakGarbageBin"); //before deleting el, recursively delete all of its children. while (el.childNodes.length > 0) { if (!bin) { bin = document.createElement("DIV"); bin.id = "IELeakGarbageBin"; document.body.appendChild(bin); } bin.appendChild(el.childNodes[el.childNodes.length - 1]); bin.innerHTML = ""; } el.parentNode.removeChild(el); if (!bin) { bin = document.createElement("DIV"); bin.id = "IELeakGarbageBin"; document.body.appendChild(bin); } bin.appendChild(el); bin.innerHTML = ""; }; var resets = 0; function kickoff() { $.getJSON("unplanned.json", resetTable); } function resetTable(rows) { $("#content tbody").removefromdom(); $("#content").append('<tbody id="id_field_required"></tbody>'); for(var i=0; i<rows.length; i++) { $("#content tbody").append("<tr><td>" + rows[i].mpe_name + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].bin + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].request_time + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].filtered_delta + "</td>" + "<td>" + rows[i].failed_delta + "</td></tr>"); } resets++; $("#message").html("Content set this many times: " + resets); setTimeout(kickoff, 2000); } $(kickoff); // --> </script> <div id="message" style="color:red"></div> <table id="content" border="1" style="width:100% ; text-align:center"> <thead><tr> <th>MPE</th> <th>Bin</th> <th>When</th> <th>Filtered</th> <th>Failed</th> </tr></thead> <tbody id="id_field_required"></tbody> </table> </body> </html> FURTHER EDIT: I'll leave my question unchanged, though it's worth noting that this memory leak has nothing to do with Ajax. In fact, the following code would memory leak just the same and be just as easily solved with Toran's removefromdom jQuery plugin: function resetTable() { $("#content tbody").empty(); for(var i=0; i<1000; i++) { $("#content tbody").append("<tr><td>" + "DBOSS-095" + "</td>" + "<td>" + 4 + "</td>" + "<td>" + "09/18/2009 11:51:06" + "</td>" + "<td>" + 1 + "</td>" + "<td>" + 1 + "</td></tr>"); } setTimeout(resetTable, 2000); } $(resetTable);

  • WPF: Menu Items only bind command parameters once.

    - by Aran Mulholland
    Ive noticed this a couple of times when using menus with commands, they are not very dynamic, check this out. I am creating a menu from a collection of colours, I use it to colour a column in a datagrid. Anyway when i first bring up the menu (its a context menu) the command parameter binding happens and it binds to the column that the context menu was opened on. However the next time i bring it up it seems wpf caches the menu and it doesnt rebind the command parameter. so i can set the colour only on the initial column that the context menu appeared on. I have got around this situation in the past by making the menu totally dynamic and destroying the collection when the menu closed and forcing a rebuild the next time it opened, i dont like this hack. anyone got a better way? <MenuItem Header="Colour" ItemsSource="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type local:ResultEditorGrid}}, Path=ColumnColourCollection}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource colourHeader}" > <MenuItem.Icon> <Image Source="{StaticResource ColumnShowIcon16}" /> </MenuItem.Icon> <MenuItem.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="MenuItem" BasedOn="{StaticResource systemMenuItemStyle}"> <!--Warning dont change the order of the following two setters otherwise the command parameter gets set after the command fires, not mush use eh?--> <Setter Property="CommandParameter"> <Setter.Value> <MultiBinding> <MultiBinding.Converter> <local:ColumnAndColourMultiConverter/> </MultiBinding.Converter> <Binding RelativeSource="{RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type DataGridColumnHeader}}" Path="Column"/> <Binding Path="."/> </MultiBinding> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Setter Property="Command" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type local:ResultEditorGrid}}, Path=ColourColumnCommand}" /> </Style> </MenuItem.ItemContainerStyle> </MenuItem>

  • Javascript or CSS hover not working in Safari and Chrome

    - by PAZtech
    I have a problem with a script for a image gallery. The problem seems to only occur on Safari and Chrome, but if I refresh the page I get it to work correctly - weird! Correct function: The gallery has a top bar, which if you hover over it, it will display a caption. Below sits the main image. At the bottom there is another bar that is a reversal of the top bar. When you hover over it, it will display thumbnails of the gallery. The problem: In Safari and Chrome, the thumbnail holder will not display. In fact, it doesn't even show it as an active item (or a rollover). But oddly enough, if you manually refresh the page it begins to work correctly for the rest of the time you view the page. Once you have left the page and return the same error occurs again and you have to go through the same process. Here's one of the pages to look at: link text Here's the CSS: #ThumbsGutter { background: url(../Images/1x1.gif); background: url(/Images/1x1.gif); height: 105px; left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px; width: 754px; z-index: 2; } #ThumbsHolder { display: none; } #ThumbsTable { left: 1px; } #Thumbs { background-color: #000; width: 703px; } #Thumbs ul { list-style: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; } #Thumbs ul li { display: inline; • OutofMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget (Android)

    - by Chrispix
    Getting an Exception in the BitmapFactory. Not sure what is the issue. (Well I can guess the issue, but not sure why its happening) ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget ERROR/AndroidRuntime(7906): at android.graphics.BitmapFactory.decodeFile(BitmapFactory.java:295) My code is pretty straight forward. I defined an XML layout w/ a default image. I try to load a bm on the SDCard (if present - it is). If not it shows the default image. Anyway.. Here is code : public class showpicture extends Activity { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { /** Remove menu/status bar **/ requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); final Window win = getWindow(); win.setFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_FULLSCREEN,WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_FULLSCREEN); Bitmap bm; super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.showpicture); try { ImageView mImageButton = (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.displayPicture); bm = Bitmap.createScaledBitmap(BitmapFactory.decodeFile("/sdcard/dcim/Camera/20091018203339743.jpg"),100, 100, true); parkImageButton.setImageBitmap(bm); } catch (IllegalArgumentException ex) { Log.d("MYAPP",ex.getMessage()); } catch (IllegalStateException ex) { It fails on the bm=Bitmap.createScaledBitmap any thoughts? I did some research on the forums, and it pointed to this post I just don't know why it is not working. Any help would be great! Thanks, Chris.

  • WPF 4.0 Custom panel won't show dynamically added controls in VS 2010 Designer

    - by Matt Ruwe
    I have a custom panel control that I'm trying to dynamically add controls within. When I run the application the static and dynamically added controls show up perfectly, but the dynamic controls do not appear within the visual studio designer. Only the controls placed declaratively in the XAML appear. I'm currently adding the dynamic control in the CreateUIElementCollection override, but I've also tried this in the constructor without success. Public Class CustomPanel1 Inherits Panel Public Sub New() End Sub Protected Overrides Function MeasureOverride(ByVal availableSize As System.Windows.Size) As System.Windows.Size Dim returnValue As New Size(0, 0) For Each child As UIElement In Children child.Measure(availableSize) returnValue.Width = Math.Max(returnValue.Width, child.DesiredSize.Width) returnValue.Height = Math.Max(returnValue.Height, child.DesiredSize.Height) Next returnValue.Width = If(Double.IsPositiveInfinity(availableSize.Width), returnValue.Width, availableSize.Width) returnValue.Height = If(Double.IsPositiveInfinity(availableSize.Height), returnValue.Height, availableSize.Height) Return returnValue End Function Protected Overrides Function ArrangeOverride(ByVal finalSize As System.Windows.Size) As System.Windows.Size Dim currentHeight As Integer For Each child As UIElement In Children child.Arrange(New Rect(0, currentHeight, child.DesiredSize.Width, child.DesiredSize.Height)) currentHeight += child.DesiredSize.Height Next Return finalSize End Function Protected Overrides Function CreateUIElementCollection(ByVal logicalParent As System.Windows.FrameworkElement) As System.Windows.Controls.UIElementCollection Dim returnValue As UIElementCollection = MyBase.CreateUIElementCollection(logicalParent) returnValue.Add(New TextBlock With {.Text = "Hello, World!"}) Return returnValue End Function Protected Overrides Sub OnPropertyChanged(ByVal e As System.Windows.DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs) MyBase.OnPropertyChanged(e) End Sub End Class And my usage of this custom panel <Window x:Class="MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:CustomPanel" Title="MainWindow" Height="364" Width="434"> <local:CustomPanel1> <CheckBox /> <RadioButton /> </local:CustomPanel1> </Window>

  • WPF Debugging AvalonEdit binding to Document property.

    - by kubal5003
    Hello, all day long I am sitting and trying to find out why binding to AvalonEdits Document property isn't working. AvalonEdit is an advanced WPF text editor - part of the SharpDevelop project.(it's going to be used in SharpDevelop v4 Mirador). So when I set up a simple project - one TextEditor (that's the AvalonEdits real name in the library) and made a simple class that has one property - Document and it returns a dummy object with some static text the binding is working perfectly. However in real life solution I'm binding a collection of SomeEditor objects to TabControl. TabControl has DataTemplate for SomeEditor and there's the TextEditor object. <TabControl Grid.Column="1" x:Name="tabControlFiles" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" > <TabControl.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type m:SomeEditor}"> <a:TextEditor Document="{Binding Path=Document, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, Converter={StaticResource NoopConverter}, IsAsync=True}" x:Name="avalonEdit"></a:TextEditor> </DataTemplate> </TabControl.Resources> <TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> <Style BasedOn="{StaticResource TabItemStyle}" TargetType="{x:Type TabItem}"> <Setter Property="IsSelected" Value="{Binding IsSelected}"></Setter> </Style> </TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> </TabControl> This doesn't work. What I've investigated so far: DataContext of TextEditor is set to the proper instance of SomeEditor TextEditors Document property is set to some other instance than SomeEditor.Document property when I set breakpoint to no-op converter that is attached to that binding it shows me the correct value for Document (the converter is used!) I also dug through the VisualTree to obtain reference to TextEditor and called GetBindingExpression(TextEditor.DocumentProperty) and this did return nothing WPF produces the following information: System.Windows.Data Information: 10 : Cannot retrieve value using the binding and no valid fallback value exists; using default instead. BindingExpression:Path=Document; DataItem='SomeEditor' (HashCode=26280264); target element is 'TextEditor' (Name='avalonEdit'); target property is 'Document' (type 'TextDocument') SomeEditor instance that is bound to already has a created and cached copy of Document before the binding occurs. The getter is never called. Anyone can tell me what might be wrong? Why BindingExpression isn't set ? Why property getter is never called?

  • Open a URL with parameters using selenium.open()

    - by gagneet
    I am using selenium.open(), to open a URL, which prints the cookie output to the browser window: String cookiestr = "http://my.server.com/cookie?out=text"; selenium.open( cookiestr ); The problem is that, it opens a "Save As..." popup, to save the file named "cookie". When I open the same URL in my browser directly, it displays text in the browser window. I want to capture the body text shown, when I open the URL, but am unable to do so. Is there any other command available which I can use to do this? BufferedWriter outputfile = null; String bodytext = selenium.getBodyText(); System.out.println("Body Text :" + bodytext); Integer I = new Integer(i); filename = "C:\\cookies\\" + I.toString() + ".txt"; outputfile = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter( filename )); outputfile.write( bodytext ); outputfile.newLine(); i++;

Selected one will be rotated to 45°.--> <RotateTransform Angle="{Binding RandomAngle}" x:Name="globalRotation"/> </Border.LayoutTransform> <Grid> <Image Source="{Binding ImageLocation}" Stretch="None" /> <TextBlock x:Name="title" Text="{Binding Title}" /> </Grid> </Border> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter TargetName="title" Property="Visibility" Value="Visible"/> <!--The next line will not compile.--> <Setter TargetName="globalRotation" Property="Angle" Value="45"/> <Trigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard> <!--This compiles well.--> <DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="globalRotation" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Angle" To="45" Duration="00:00:03"/> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </Trigger.EnterActions> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> This code is intended to display a set of images in a listbox. Each image has a random rotation, but when selected, rotates to 45 degrees. Rotating selected image through a storyboard works well. I just specify Storyboard.TargetName and it rotates the image when selected (Trigger.ExitActions is omitted to make the code shorter). Now, if I want, instead of using a storyboard, assign 45 degrees value directly, I can't do that, because <Setter TargetName="globalRotation" Property="Angle" Value="45"/>: it compiles with "Cannot find the Trigger target 'globalRotation'. (The target must appear before any Setters, Triggers, or Conditions that use it.)" error. What happens? I suppose that Storyboard.TargetName is evaluated during runtime, so let me compile it. Is it right? How to make it work with just a setter, without using a storyboard?

  • wpf treeview ObjectDataProvider update - how?

    - by wonea
    I've been having trouble updating the data bindings which relates to a treeview. The dataset is mapped onto the ObjectDataProvider, passed through two data templates. Now I've tried updating the ObjectDataProvider with two calls, hoping that they would trigger the CreateTheDataSet() method, and rebuild the tree. Tried calling; thetreeView.ItemTemplate.LoadContent(); thetreeView.Items.Refresh(); Program code; <Window.Resources> <ObjectDataProvider x:Key="dataSetProvider" MethodName="CreateDataSet" ObjectType="{x:Type local:DataSetCreator}" /> <DataTemplate x:Key="DetailTemplate"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=personname}" /> </DataTemplate> <HierarchicalDataTemplate x:Key="MasterTemplate" ItemsSource="{Binding Master2Detail}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource DetailTemplate}"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=jobname}" /> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <x:Name="thetreeView" DataContext="{StaticResource dataSetProvider}" ItemsSource="{Binding compMaster}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource MasterTemplate}" /> My dataset creation class; public static class DataSetCreator { public static DataSet CreateTheDataSet() { DataSet dataset = new DataSet(); // Create dataset ... blah blah return dataset; } }

  • DataBinding: 'System.String' does not contain a property with the name 'dbMake'.

    - by marcmiki
    Hi , i am a newbie at ASP.net and after using sqldatasource with a listview to insert and show results from an SQL server db i want to try using the LINQ datasource since it seems to be more flexible in codebehind. My problem is this: i droped a listview control to the page and i created the Linq datasource in codebehind with vb. the issue that i am having when i ..Select d.columms name i get the error system.string does not contain a property with the name "columname".. if i ommit the column name then its works fine.. the funny part is the d.count works fine but after that i get the error.. please see my code below: vb code Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim rowsCount As Integer Dim showSearchForm As String showSearchForm = Request.QueryString("tab") If showSearchForm = "1" Then Dim db As New ASPNETDBDataContext() Dim q = From b In db.PassengerVehiclesTables Select b.dbMake rowsCount = q.Count MsgBox(rowsCount) lvMakes.DataSource = q lvMakes.DataBind() PnlPassengerVehiclesSearch.Visible = True ElseIf showSearchForm = "2" Then aspx code <asp:Panel ID="PnlPassengerVehiclesSearch" Visible="false" runat="server"> Search Passenger Vehicles Form.....<br /> <table style="width: 100%; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px"> <tr> <td> <asp:ListView ID="lvMakes" runat="server"> <LayoutTemplate> <asp:PlaceHolder runat="server" ID="itemPlaceholder" /> </LayoutTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <%#Eval("dbMake")%><br /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:ListView> </td> b.dbMake needs to work so that i can use Distinct ,, ia m using asp.net version:3.5 and IIS version 7.0 .. not sure what i am missing ,, but i did try alot of approaches,,1- checked the web.config file and it seems to have two assemblies and two namespaces for LINQ..2- used different databinding syntaxs,,and i searched a lot for the solution.. the last one i read the person ommited the name of the column,, i thought that wasnt the best solution.. also my dbMake column is comming up in the "intellisence" .. thank you in advance for your help..

  • jQuery Ajax call - Set variable value on success.

    - by Nathan
    Hey all, I have an application that I am writing that modifies data on a cached object in the server. The modifications are performed through an ajax call that basically updates properties of that object. When the user is done working, I have a basic 'Save Changes' button that allows them to Save the data and flush the cached object. In order to protect the user, I want to warn them if the try to navigate away from the page when modifications have been made to the server object if they have not saved. So, I created a web service method called IsInitialized that will return true or false based on whether or not changes have been saved. If they have not been saved, I want to prompt the user and give them a chance to cancel their navigation request. Here's my problem - although I have the calls working correctly, I can't seem to get the ajax success call to set the variable value on its callback function. Here's the code I have now. ////Catches the users to keep them from navigation off the page w/o saved changes... window.onbeforeunload = CheckSaveStatus; var IsInitialized; function CheckSaveStatus() { var temp = $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "URL.asmx/CheckIfInstanceIsInitilized", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(result) { IsInitialized = result.d; }, error: function(xmlHttpRequest, status, err) { alert(xmlHttpRequest.statusText + " " + xmlHttpRequest.status + " : " + xmlHttpRequest.responseText); } }); if (IsInitialized) { return "You currently have unprocessed changes for this Simulation."; } } I feel that I might be trying to use the Success callback in an inappropriate manner. How do I set a javascript variable on the Success callback so that I can decide whether or not the user should be prompted w/ the unsaved changes message? As was just pointed out, I am making an asynchronous call, which means the rest of the code gets called before my method returns. Is there a way to use that ajax call, but still catch the window.onunload event? (without making synchronos ajax)

  • CSS IE Hover Effect - Overlapping Elements, Display:Block, and Crashes

    - by Emtucifor
    In a fairly simple page, I have some text appear on hover over some links, like a tooltip. To start with here's my test page I'm working with: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Tooltip Test Page</title> <style type="text/css"> html, body, form, table, tr, td, div, p, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5 { border:0; margin:0; padding:0; } body { margin:10px; } html, body, table { font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; } h1 { font-weight:bold; font-size:16px; } table {border-collapse:collapse;} td {padding:0 8px 0 0;} a.tooltip { z-index:24; text-decoration:none; cursor:default; position:relative; color:#000; display:block; width:100px; } a.tooltip span {display:none;} a.tooltip:hover, a.tooltip:active { z-index:25; color:; background:; /* the color and background actually don't matter for their values, it's just that these have to change for IE to apply this style properly. Leaving out the color or the background makes this fail in different ways. */ } a.tooltip:hover span, a.tooltip:active span { display:block; position:absolute; color:black; background-color:#FFFFCC; border:1px solid black; padding:1px; text-align:left; top:0; left:0; margin-top:-1px; } td span.s5 {color:#ff0000} td span.s6 {color:#0000ff} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function labelSubmit(label) { document.getElementById('o').value=label; document.BackAt.submit(); } </script> </head> <body> <h1>tooltip Test Page</h1> <table> <tbody> <tr> <td><span class="s6">&#x25a0;</span> Name 3</td> <td class="status"><a class="tooltip" href="" onclick="return false;">Status 6<span>Some very long tooltip text to demonstrate the problem by overlapping the cells below.</span></a></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span class="s6">&#x25a0;</span> Name 1</td> <td class="status"><a class="tooltip" href="" onclick="return false;">Status 6</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span class="s6">&#x25a0;</span> Name 2</td> <td class="status"><a class="tooltip" href="" onclick="return false;">Status 6<span>Some tooltip text</span></a></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span class="s6">&#x25a0;</span> Name 4</td> <td class="status"><a class="tooltip" href="" onclick="return false;">Status 6</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span class="s5">&#x25a0;</span> Name 5</td> <td class="status"><a class="tooltip" href="" onclick="return false;">Status 5<span>More Notes</span></a></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span class="s6">&#x25a0;</span> Name 6</td> <td class="status"><a class="tooltip" href="" onclick="return false;">Status 6<span>Yet more notes</span></a></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html> The problem I'm experiencing is that text from other values shows through the tooltip text. Hover over the first row, second column to see the effect. There are a couple of things I'm trying to accomplish: Make the activation area for the hover wider, so hovering over some space to the right of "Status 6" calls up the tooltip (say, 100-150px total width of target). At first, when I was adding "display:block" to a.tooltip, IE was terminating on hover. I resolved that by removing width:14em from a.tooltip:hover. Styling the width of the hover event + display.block on the a element does BAD things. Change the width of the tooltip without changing the width of the column/parent element (so the tooltip can be wider than itso it takes up less vertical space). Options for making the tooltips change width with its contents up to a max width, at which point the lines wrap would be awesome, but probably impossible in IE. As soon as I put a width in place on a.tooltip, the portion of the tooltip that is above other rows than the hover source let text show through from those cells. Remove the width and you'll see that the text doesn't show through any more. The hover effect applies to the entire tooltip, so if the tooltip covers 3 rows, while moving the mouse downward, the next 2 rows won't activate because the cursor hasn't left the tooltip. Can the hover effect apply only to the initial element hovered over and not the tooltip itself so moving the mouse downward will show each tooltip in each row? It would be nice if the links could never be activated (they can't take the focus). I don't know if that's possible. Too bad IE doesn't support hover on any elements but links. Note: soon IE6 will be abandoned in favor of IE8. If it makes a big difference, then IE8 can be the target browser instead. Thanks for your help.

  • Wrap or adorn wpf listview datatemplate

    - by Chris Cap
    I'm attempting to essentially wrap the contents of a DateTemplate in a listview gridview column with a border. What I want to know is if it's possible to supply an adorner that will surround that template so that I don't have to specify the border in every single datatemplate on every column (which is what I'm doing now). I've got something like this, but I know it's not right <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Setter Property="TemplateContent"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <StackPanel> <Border BorderBrush="Green" BorderThickness="1"> <AdornedElementPlaceholder /> </Border> </StackPanel> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> This complains that Templatecontent is not a valid type. I've also tried with DataTemplate and that doesn't work either (understandably so). I know I could just create a DataTemplate, however the content for each column is different. At the very least, it binds to different fields. I'm wondering if there's a solution using a dynamic resource, but I don't know much about it. Thanks for your help EDIT: here's a sample of my listview <ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Path=OrderLines}" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ResourceKey=ListViewItemContainerStyle}"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBox MaxWidth="30" Width="30" MaxLength="2" Text="{Binding Path=Quantity,ValidatesOnDataErrors=True}" /> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> <GridView> <ListView.View> </ListView> Essentially I want to wrap that text box in the data template and any other items in additional columns.
