• Creating WSRP portlet with .net

  I'm working on a project where I need to create a WSRP portlet webservice with ASP.net. My first question is what exactly is WSRP, and are there any good examples of it available? So far I have determined that it is a SOAP xml standard that defines how to create a portlet that can be embedded in an other portal. Is that correct? Also I was planning on using MVC to do this. Is this a good idea? Any thoughts on WSRP are welcome. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is and how to create it.

• How do I exclude the sources jar in mvn deploy?

  When I run "mvn deploy:deploy", maven deploys 4 jar files to my internal remote repository. They are: [module-name]-1.jar [module-name]-1.pom [module-name]-1-sources.jar [module-name]-1-tests.jar There are actually more files, such as md5 and sha1 files, being deployed. But for simplicity, I just skip these files here. Is there any way to exclude [module-name]-1-sources.jar from the deployment process? One way I can think of is to use "mvn deploy:deploy-file", which allows me to pinpoint which jar to deploy. But since I have a few dozen modules to deploy, it'll be nice if I can configure the deployment file exclusion in pom.xml. Otherwise, I'll have to write a script to deploy. Thanks, Richard

  I am working on a simple .Net 4.0 webservice. I created one method, which accepts a string input. I run the project in Debug mode so a page opens in my browser where I can enter an input and invoke the method of the service. • Form based authentication in java

  I want to know how can I enable form based authentication in java through database. After connecting to database, how can I verify whether the username and password, which I'm entering through html page is correct or not? Do I have to change action servlets from j_security_check to another my own defined servlets, which will connect to database and do all its verification on its own? Or I've to send authentication information to j_security_check, which will automatically connect to database, verify username and password. I'm successful in connecting to database through context.xml file, which is in META-INF directory of my own web application, but I'm not able to understand what's more I've to do enable form based authentication. I'm using Tomcat 6 as web server.

• Hibernate configuration files not found by Axis2

  I am writing a web service to be deployed on Tomcat using Axis2. I am using Hibernate3 to persist data between the web service and a MySQL database. When running the application through by IDE, the method I am exposing through Axis2 works as intended, however when I deploy the .aar to Tomcat, I receive a SOAP Error claiming that hibernate.cfg.xml cannot be found. However, inside the .aar, I clearly see that all the configuration file and all the mapping files are included. I have determined a workaround: If I place the resulting files from the Netbeans build/class folder into the axis2/WEB-INF/class folder, then the application works as expected. My question, then, is is there a better way to deploy my application so that Axis2 will pick up the configuration and mapping files through the deployed .aar without my manually having to copy the contents of the build/class folder into the axis2/WEB-INF/class folder?

  This is what my LinearLayout (horizontal) row looks like: I want the text of the checkbox to be on one line; The buttons don't have to be that wide - they'll still have plenty of space with the checkbox text lengthened a bit. • having issue while making the client calls persession in c# wcf

  1.) I have a main method Processing, which takes string as an arguments and that string contains some x number of tasks. 2.) I have another method Status, which keeps track of first method by using two variables TotalTests and CurrentTest. which will be modified every time with in a loop in first method(Processing). 3.) When more than one client makes a call parallely to my web service to call the Processing method by passing a string, which has different tasks will take more time to process. so in the mean while clients will be using a second thread to call the Status method in the webservice to get the status of the first method. 4.) when point number 3 is being done all the clients are supposed to get the variables(TotalTests,CurrentTest) parallely with out being mixed up with other client requests. 5.) The code that i have provided below is getting mixed up variables results for all the clients when i make them as static. If i remove static for the variables then clients are just getting all 0's for these 2 variables and i am unable to fix it. Please take a look at the below code. • PHP-GD: Dealing with Unicode characters

  I am developing a web service that renders characters using the PHP GD extension, using a user-selected TTF font. This works fine in ASCII-land, but there are a few problems: The string to be rendered comes in as UTF-8. I would like to limit the list of user-selectable fonts to be only those which can render the string properly, as some fonts only have glyphs for ASCII characters, ISO 8601, etc. In the case where some decorative characters are included, it would be fine to render the majority of characters in the selected font and render the decorative characters in Arial (or whatever font contains the extended glyphs). It does not seem like PHP-GD has support for querying the font metadata sufficiently to figure out if a character can be rendered in a given font. What is a good way to get font metrics into PHP? Is there a command-line utility that can dump in XML or other parsable format?

  I am trying to create an automatic feed generation for data to be sent to Google Base using utf-8 encoding. However I am getting errors whenever hyphens are found telling me that there is an encoding error in the relevant attribute (title, description, product_type). I am currently using: &amp;minus; but I have also tried: &amp;#8722; neither of which have worked.   In my web application I need to use Saxon TransformerFactory to use XSLT 2.0 but I can't use setProperty method because I haven't this right on the web server and there is a Security Manager. So i have read that it's possible to do this: Use the Services API (as detailed in the JAR specification), if available, to determine the classname. The Services API will look for a classname in the file META-INF/services/javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory in jars available to the runtime. I found this file in WEB-INF/lib/saxon9.jar but when I istantiate a TransformerFactory is always selected default factory and not saxon factory. How can I select Saxon Transformer Factory? Thanks

• Dealing with unwanted port numbers on localhost when debugging in Visual Studio

  So when I'm trying to debug a project in Visual Studio, I'll often have 1 or more services that I need to call. These services are separate projects and I'll launch them in separate instances of VS. ASP dev server kindly launches them with temporary port numbers attached. This would be fine except for my programs are looking for an IP without a port attached. (Typically it's as simple as "localhost"!) I've coped by using web config settings and changing the xml to use the port number while debugging. This still doesn't always work and occasionally I'll still have to fudge it and insert port numbers as strings in code! UGH! Then I have to remember to undo all the port herding code before deployment... I want to stop doing this: string _strBaseURL = String.Format("http://{0}:2277", ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["myservice_ip"].ToString()); What is the best practice here? Am I doomed to port herding while debugging VS apps?

  I have a central dispatcher servlet that has a servlet mapping of : <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> When i try to use the blob store service's createUploadUrl("/uploadComplete") it maps to a URL for e.g *'/_ah/upload/agp0d2VldG15cGljchsLEhVfX0Jsb2JVcGxvYWRTZXNzaW9uX18YEgw'*. Before the Blob store service can handle the upload and redirect to /uploadComplete; my dispatcher servlet gets called and i am therefore not being able to upload anything. Is there a servlet/ filter that i can map to /_ah/upload/* in my web.xml ? How do i avoid the dispatcher servlet from getting called before the Blob store service can do its thing?

• Joda-Time: Period to string

  I'm using the Joda-Time library with Java. I'm having some difficulty trying to turn a Period object to a string in the format of "x days, x hours, x minutes". These Period objects are first created by adding an amount of seconds to them (they are serialized to XML as seconds and then recreated from them). If I simply use the getHours() etc. methods in them, all I get is zero and the total amount of seconds with getSeconds. How can I make Joda calculate the seconds into the respective fields, like days, hours, etc...?

Any help will be appreciated. • Problems with WiX and Visual Studio web deployment project

  Hello, I want to create an .MSI package from a web deployment project in Visual Studio 2008. Now we want to use continuous integration and we would need the .MSI package build in the nightly builds. Till now we used standard Visual Studio Web Setup project, but this is not compatible with the MSBuild. So we decided to use WiX. The problem is that I have not found any good tutorial/documentation about this. Is there a way to do a WiX installer package from a web deployment project? If yes, how? Also, I tried to use heat.exe to create the XML for the WiX project .wxs file, but it seems that heat.exe doesn't recognize the web deployment project format. Thank you for your responses. However, the swf gets a SecurityError: Error #2060: Security sandbox violation: ExternalInterface caller http://domainA.com/TrialApp.swf cannot access http://DomainB.com/. The as3 is just the below: ExternalInterface.call("javascript:_invite();"); I've also loaded the crossdomain policy file from Domain B during initialization. • Hosting a WCF service in a Windows service. Works, but I can't reach it from Silverlight.

  I've made me an application hosted WCF service for my Silverlight application to consume. When I host the WCF service in a forms application everything works fine. But when I host my WCF service in a windows service (as explained brilliantly here) I get the dreaded 'NotFound' Web Exception when I call it from Silverlight. The 'WCF Test Client' tool does not complain. I'm' exposing a decent clientaccesspolicy.xml at root. Yet Silverlight won't have it. I'm stumped. Anybody have an idea about what could be going on here?

• Android - Convert Color Resource to Color in Domain Object

  I have a domain object, where I created a method to return a text color based on the internal state of the domain object. I have defined the colors in a color.xml file as resources. The problem I have now, is that I would like to return a Color object instead of a resource ID from the domain object method. This way I can set the text color of a TextView by just calling textView.setTextColor(domainObj.getTextColor()) since it expects a Color object and not a resource ID. Currently, in an Activity, I can call getResources().getColor(domainObj.getTextColorResource()) to convert a resource ID to a color, but I would like this done in the domain object and I am not sure how I would do this when I do not have access to the getResources method. Are there any cleaner options than passing in a Resource object into the method, or domain object? Thanks

• javascript return function's data as a file

  I have a function in javascript called "dumpData" which I call from a button on an html page as **onlick="dumpData(dbControl);"* What it does is return an xml file of the settings (to an alert box right now). I want to return it to the user as a file download. Is there a way to create a button when click will open a file download box and ask the user to save or open it? (sorta of like right-clicking and save target as)... Or can it be sent to a php file and use export();? Not sure how I would send a long string like that to php and have it simple send it back as a file download. Dennis

  Hi, I have developed the SSRS reports. It is running fine locally. but after deployed on the domain server it showing exception XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: http://{MyDomainIP}:{port}/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx Line Number 1, Column 1: I have deployed these reports under the windows authentication . since I tried to give anonymous access so that I can access it, But in IIS I could not found the virtual directory regarding these reports. so where are they deployed ? I could not understand how it is not permitting to the Admin account to show the reports. Please guide me I am using IIS 6.0 , SQL server2008 R2. I am totally new for the this kind of stuff. Edited: how can we give the anonymous access to the SSRS reports? It should not ask for username and password.I know we can do this by IIS , but some how I can not found my SSRS virtual directory. how can i do that ?

• Calling Status Bar notification from method from other class.

  Firstly, I am new to both android and Java. I have two classes, my main.class and Note.class. I am calling the notification method from my Note.class in my main.class when i press a button. The issue is with this line from the Note.class : PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, notificationIntent, 0); notification.setLatestEventInfo(context, contentTitle, contentText, contentIntent); When the method is called it force closes. I believe the problem to be with the "this" in PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, notificationIntent, 0);, but I am unsure what to change it to. The notification code works fine if it's in the main class. I would be very grateful for any guidance.
