  • Passing a String from PHP to a JavaScript function

    - by user635614
    Hello. am trying to write a code to pass a php string when clicked on the table : <?php . . . echo("<td onclick = 'print_("$file[$i]->Name");' >". $files[$i]->Name."</td>"); ... ?> where files[] is an array, and each element is a class with Name as a String, and it is put in a ''for'' loop, Am trying to pass it to a JavaScript function where i need the name there,and it's not working,i tried passing the i variable and it was passed correctly so i thought there should be a special syntax for dealing with strings... function print_(var x) { alert(x);}

  • Can't modify XNA Vector components

    - by Matt H
I have a class called Sprite, and ballSprite is an instance of that class. Sprite has a Vector2 property called Position. I'm trying to increment the Vector's X component like so: ballSprite.Position.X++; but it causes this error: Cannot modify the return value of 'WindowsGame1.Sprite.Position' because it is not a variable Is it not possible to set components like this? The tooltip for the X and Y fields says "Get or set ..." so I can't see why this isn't working.

  • the use of private keyword

    - by LAT
Hi everyone I am new to programming. I am learning Java now, there is something I am not really sure, that the use of private. Why programmer set the variable as private then write , getter and setter to access it. Why not put everything in public since we use it anyway. public class BadOO { public int size; public int weight; ... } public class ExploitBadOO { public static void main (String [] args) { BadOO b = new BadOO(); b.size = -5; // Legal but bad!! } } I found some code like this, and i saw the comment legal but bad. I don't understand why, please explain me.

  • Problem with Refreshing data in ExpendableListView

    - by -providerivan.longin1
Hi! My problem is when I want to refresh data in ExpendableListView while being in that current activity. I create adapter and when I want to add new data to list I call again constructor of that adapter(it is my private variable) with all new data....and then I call onContentChanged() method to redraw my list. But what happens is that I cant expand my list any more...like it is blocked or something and logcat isn't saying anything... This is the code that i call after setting new data in arraylists and maps: mAdapter = new MyExpandableListAdapter( this, groupData, R.layout.contact_list_parent, new String[] { NAME ,NUM_PHOTOS},//NUM_PHOTOS new int[] { R.id.rowText1, R.id.rowText2, R.id.photoAlbumImg }, childData, R.layout.contact_list_child, new String[] { NAME,NUM_PHOTOS}, //NUM_PHOTOS new int[] { R.id.rowText1, R.id.rowText2, R.id.photoAlbumImg } ); this.onContentChanged(); If anyone knows answer to this question please help me:) Thanks.

  • Interesting or unique types encountered?

    - by user318904
What is the most strange or unique type you have seen in a programming language? I was thinking the other day about a "random variable", ie whenever it is evaluated it yields a random value from some domain. It would require some runtime trickery. Also I bet there can be some interesting mapping of regular expressions into a type system. It does not necessarily have to be a built in or primitive type, but some random class that implements a domain specific type won't really be interesting just unique.

  • Delphi : What is the best way for passing data between forms?

    - by Flom Enol
It may seem a little newbie, but I really have got problem with it. I have a form (not the main one)for getting many different data form the user and I want to pass it to a manager class for creating an object with these. The problem is that I can't have this class to use the other unit (getting circle uses) and also it doesn't have access to the manager class instance (which is in main form). So, what shall I do? I've already considered using public variable but I have a bad feeling about it (regarding OOD patterns). Any ideas? thanks in advance.

  • Stored procedure for selecting multiple records

    - by padmavathi
I need to select records say 2000 from a table with a matching timestamp from c# .net code. Eg: SELECT * FROM ITEMDATA_TABLE WHERE ITEMNAME='Item1' and TimeStamp='2010-04-26 17:15:05.667' The above query has to execute for 2000 items more for the same timestamp. for this we can use SELECT * FROM ITEMDATA_TABLE WHERE ITEMNAME in ('Item1','Item2','Item3','Item4',......) AND TimeStamp='2010-04-26 17:15:05.667' from SQL Server Management Studio. I have tried appending all Item names to one string variable and giving it as a parameter to the stored procedure, but it resulted into a wrong concatenation. How can I do this as a stored procedure executing from the .net code? Can anyone suggest me/correct me in doing this? Thanks & Regards Padma

  • Strings, regexp and files

    - by A Moose
<?php $iprange = array( "^12\.34\.", "^12\.35\.", ); foreach($iprange as $var) { if (preg_match($var, $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'])) { I'm looking to have a list that will constitute each of the values inside the array. Let's call it iprange.txt, from which I would extract the variable $iprange. I would also be updating the file with new ranges, but I also want to convert those strings to regexp if that's something that's needed in php, as it is in the above example. If you could help me with the two following issues: I understand that somehow I would be using an array include, but I'm not sure how to implement it. I would like to run a cron that would update the text file and turn it into a regexp acceptable for use in the above example, if you think regexp is a good idea and there isn't another option. I know how to apply a cron in a directadmin gui, but I don't know what the cronned file would look like.

  • Why I am forced to write the (Data Constructor) name with first letter in small case?

    - by Optimight
Why I am forced to write "liOfLi" in place of "LiOfLi"? Please guide. code in baby.hs LiOfLi = [ [1,3,4,5,6,8], [ 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, 20], [23, 24, 25, 45, 56] ] ghci response: ghci :l baby [1 of 1] Compiling Main ( baby.hs, interpreted ) Failed, modules loaded: none. ghci baby.hs:29:1: Not in scope: data constructor `LiOfLi' When changing the initial letter to smaller case code in baby.hs liOfLi = [ [1,3,4,5,6,8], [ 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, 20], [23, 24, 25, 45, 56] ] ghci response: ghci :l baby [1 of 1] Compiling Main ( baby.hs, interpreted ) Ok, modules loaded: Main. Following are the SO questions I refered but I failed to understand the rules/ logic and get the answer for (my) abovementioned question. Why does Haskell force data constructor's first letter to be upper case? the variable names need to be lowercase. The official documentation related to this is at haskell.org/onlinereport/intro.html#namespaces – (the SO comment by) Chris Kuklewicz

  • modifying constants in objective c during run time

    - by moshikafya
I am trying to solve the following problem. I have the following constants in my header file: #define PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_1 @"bla1" #define PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_2 @"bla2" #define PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_3 @"bla3" ... In one of my functions, I'd like to print to the UIbutton one of those strings based on user input, so say the user inputs '1', i would show bla1. Instead of creating a huge switch (i have 100 of those), I am looking for a way to combine the constant with the variable holding the user input, so something like that ideally: NSInteger input; [button setTitle:PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_{$input} forState: UIControlStateNormal]; Is something like that possible? what would be the best way to solve this?

  • android: getting rid of "warning: unmappable character for encoding ascii"

    - by Lo'oris
I'm compiling using android tools without eclipse. I compile launching "ant debug" from command line. I have found many many instructions around the web about how to remove with annoying warning, but I haven't been able to make any of them work. I've tried -D option, I've tried randomly tweaking build.* files, I've tried exporting an environment variable... nothing. I guess some of these methods just don't work, and some others would work but I've been doing them incorrectly. Anything is possible and I can't stand it any more: any advice on how to do it?

  • C++ volatile required when spinning on boost::shared_ptr operator bool()?

    - by JaredC
I have two threads referencing the same boost::shared_ptr: boost::shared_ptr<Widget> shared; On thread is spinning, waiting for the other thread to reset the boost::shared_ptr: while(shared) boost::thread::yield(); And at some point the other thread will call: shared.reset(); My question is whether or not I need to declare the shared pointer as volatile to prevent the compiler from optimizing the call to shared.operator bool() out of the loop and never detecting the change? I know that if I were simply looping on a variable, waiting for it to reach 0 I would need volatile, but I'm not sure if boost::shared_ptr is implemented in such a way that it is not necessary here.

  • Replace multible data codes in a datafram with names

    - by Shabana
I have a problem in replacing codes in a dataframe of 3890 observations. My dataframe has a character variable df$IJN which contains values from 1 to 27. I would like to replace these with meaningful data as follow If(1 OR 6 OR 10 OR 14 OR 18 OR 22 OR 26) should be replaced with UL. If(3 OR 7 OR 11 OR 15 OR 19 OR 23 OR 27) should be replaced with LL. If(4 OR 8 OR 12 OR 16 OR 20 OR 24) should be replaced with UR. If(5 OR 9 OR 13 OR 17 OR 21 OR 25) should be replaced with LR. (U,L,R,and L Refer to Upper, Lower, Right, and Left sites in the order) I thought of a for() with if() could not manage with it Also thought of df[which(df=="27")] ="LL" may work one by one not sure! Any help please. R v3.1 - Windows 7 E-H Shabana, Paris.

  • Is it possible to access the line of code where a method is called from within that method?

    - by Dan Tao
Disclaimers: I am not interested in doing this in any real production code. I make no claim that there's a good reason why I'm interested in doing this. I realize that if this is in any way possible, it must involve doing some highly inadvisable things. That said... is this possible? I'm really just curious to know. In other words, if I have something like this: int i = GetSomeInteger(); Is there any way from within GetSomeInteger that the code could be "aware of" the fact that it's being called in an assignment to the variable i? Again: no interest in doing this in any sort of real scenario. Just curious!

  • using a tileset with canvas

    - by Anonymous
Yeah so I'm lost from the get-go. Alright let's say I have a big image with every tile for a 2D top-down RPG game. They're all the same width and everything. What I don't know is how would I save every individual tile from that image to their own image data for use on the canvas? Basically I want to take a big image with all my tiles, choose squares throughout it to make images out of the tiles, and store each image as a variable in an array. So, how would I do this?

  • Why isn't the compiler smarter in this const function overloading problem?

    - by Frank
The following code does not compile: #include <iostream> class Foo { std::string s; public: const std::string& GetString() const { return s; } std::string* GetString() { return &s; } }; int main(int argc, char** argv){ Foo foo; const std::string& s = foo.GetString(); // error return 0; } I get the following error: const1.cc:11: error: invalid initialization of reference of type 'const std::string&' from expression of type 'std::string* It does make some sense because foo is not of type const Foo, but just Foo, so the compiler wants to use the non-const function. But still, why can't it recognize that I want to call the const GetString function, by looking at the (type of) variable I assign it to? I found this kind of surprising.

  • setTimeout is acting weird

    - by mnish
I am trying to make a simple setTimeout, to make a div tag invisible after 2 seconds. The setTimeout function makes the div invisible but irregularly, sometimes immediately and sometimes after 1 sec, and so on. Here is my code: function beginTimeOut(){ t = setTimeout(function(){hideSubMenu()},2000); } function hideSubMenu(){ var elem; elem = document.getElementById("ul_navlist1"); elem.style.visibility="hidden"; clearTimeout(t); } By the way, t is a global variable. I have tried this too: t = setTimeout("hideSubMenu()",2000); but with the same irregular results.

  • Debugging (displaying) SQL command sent to the db by SQLAlchemy

    - by morpheous
I have an ORM class called Person, which wraps around a person table: After setting up the connection to the db etc, I run the ff statement. people = session.query(Person).all() The person table does not contain any data (as yet), so when I print the variable people, I get an empty list. I renamed the table referred to in my ORM class People, to people_foo (which does not exist). I then run the script again. I was surprised that no exception was thrown when attempting to access a table that does not exist. I therefore have the following 2 questions: How may I setup SQLAlchemy so that it propagates db errors back to the script? How may I view (i.e. print) the SQL that is being sent to the db engine If it helps, I am using PostgreSQL as the db

  • How do you extend a Ruby module with macro-like metaprogramming methods?

    - by Ian Terrell
Consider the following extension (the pattern popularized by several Rails plugins over the years): module Extension def self.included(recipient) recipient.extend ClassMethods recipient.class_eval { include InstanceMethods } end module ClassMethods def macro_method puts "Called macro_method within #{self.name}" end end module InstanceMethods def instance_method puts "Called instance_method within #{self.object_id}" end end end If you wished to expose this to every class, you can do the following: Object.send :include, Extension Now you can define any class and use the macro method: class FooClass macro_method end #=> Called macro_method within FooClass And instances can use the instance methods: FooClass.new.instance_method #=> Called instance_method within 2148182320 But even though Module.is_a?(Object), you cannot use the macro method in a module: module FooModule macro_method end #=> undefined local variable or method `macro_method' for FooModule:Module (NameError) This is true even if you explicitly include the original Extension into Module with Module.send(:include, Extension). How do you add macro like methods to Ruby modules?

  • C# Array Maximum

    - by Betamoo
I have 2 arrays named Arr1 and Arr2 in C#. They are of the exact same dimensions... I need to get the element of Arr1 corresponding to maximum of elements in Arr2 beginning with given indices ... e.g Get indices of the max of Arr2 [ 1 , 10 , 3 , i , j ] for all i,j Return Arr1 [ 1 , 10 , 3 , i , j ] Of course I need the elegant solution (not the "loop for them" one...) Please Note: I do not want to loop through the arrays, because it is 11 dimensional!!.. the code will be ugly and error prone.. and I may run out of variable names :)

  • Specifying routes by subdomain in Express using vhost middleware

    - by user730569
I'm using the vhost express/connect middleware and I'm a bit confused as to how it should be used. I want to have one set of routes apply to hosts with subdomains, and another set to apply for hosts without subdomains. In my app.js file, I have var app = express.createServer(); app.use...(middlware)... app.use(express.vhost('*.host', require('./domain_routing')("yes")); app.use(express.vhost('host', require('./domain_routing')("no")); app.use...(middlware)... app.listen(8000); and then in domain_routing.js: module.exports = function(subdomain){ var app = express.createServer(); require('./routes')(app, subdomain); return app; } and then in routes.js I plan to run sets of routes, dependent on the subdomain variable passed in is "yes" or "no". Am I on the right track or is this not how you use this middleware?
