Wanting to dive in to some FOSS contributions using C++ .
Any recommendations? If possible, I would like to keep using VisualStudio if possible. :P
Thanks SO!
I am trying to deploy a bunch of files in a directory in my MSI setup. As the files will change frequently I don't want to add the files directly but rather have a way of automatically including all files from within a directory and deploy them to a certain location.
I am using a VisualStudio Setup Project.
Anybody know how/if this is possible?
When I setup sql2005 this problem appear

Minimum Hardware Requirement
The current system does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for this SQL Server release. For detailed hardware and software requirements, see the readme file or SQL Server Books Online.
and I continued setup but I couldnot found sql management studio tools in start menue
Not interested in any source control OR shell integration.
This is basically to make regular gets on certain third party archives. I would really prefer not to deal with SVN in any way in my shell or visualstudio.
Native / C# preferred (as i have those runtimes already installed).
Anyone a recommendation under those circumstances?
I want to start learning C++, so I downloaded Microsoft VisualStudio 2010 Express, and the entire application freezes and crashes every time I try to compile (debug and release build) something (I have tried running it in Admin Mode). Is there a good alternative compiler that I could still use VS 2010 as the IDE?
I'm looking into purchasing a netbook for traveling. I realize that most of these machines are designed for surfing the web and checking email. What model(s) are most likely to handle a development environment with VisualStudio 2008?
Assuming I have a list of DLL's an executable loads, How do I get a list of all the functions defined by those DLL's?
EDIT: preferably without the use of GUI's or huge programs like VisualStudio
Thanks,
Modeling tool or just a visual tool for drawing.
In fact I only need to draw and later I'll transform the picture into sql by hand
to better control the process.
How do you programmatically generate T-SQL CREATE statements for existing indexes in a database? SQL Studio provides a "Script Index as-Create to" command that generates code in the form:
IF NOT EXISTS(SELECT * FROM sys.indexes WHERE name = N'IX_myindex')
CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX [IX_myindex] ON [dbo].[mytable]
(
[my_id] ASC
)WITH (SORT_IN_TEMPDB = OFF, DROP_EXISTING = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ONLINE = OFF) ON [PRIMARY]
GO
How would you do this programmatically (ideally through Python)?
I am in process of converting Visual Basic app into Python Django. Currently, it has barcode functionality to process sales at a store. Can this be achieved with python django.
Hi,
Is it possible for kids with only HTML/CSS programming experience to do game programming in SilverLight 4.0?
They are using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express edition.
Do they have to learn c# or any other language since they are just starting out?
Thanks
I have been writing embedded C applications for almost 20 years.
In the last few years I have written quite a few PC based GUI interfaces in Visual C so I could interface my embedded systems to a PC.
Although my primary work will still be in deeply embedded C, I have finally decided to move my PC based tools into Ruby - (for quick scripting type stuff) and C++ or C# for GUI based interfaces and applications.
Should I bother with C++ or just move straight to C#?
I have an ASP.NET 2.0 application, developed in the early days of 2.0. There are almost no comment tags in the application. Is there any tool which can grab all the classes from that application generate a report [in chm or html or pdf] with all the classes and belonging methods, hierarchy of the classes and any kind of visual presentation of the over all flow/relationship/architecture?
Thanks
I've implement my activeX control in Delphi. I've build a c# application to embed it. It runs fine on my computer. After that, I copy and paste all c# solution with the my ocx file to another computer, register by regsrv32.exe succeed, add to COM components on visualstudio toolbox, compile and run again. It consistently complains '
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8000FFFF): Catastrophic failure (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))
What's problem I'm dealing with? What may I do wrong?
I'm using Visualstudio 2005, ASP.NET and C#.
I want to use menu bars which have an active look to them when their respective target page is the one currently showing.
Imagine a user clicks a menu item, navigation to the target page occurs and the menu item they selected is now differing, in say, color to that of the other items in the menu as a means to indicate this is the currently active location.
How might one achieve this?
I'm currently writing an app in C# using using VisualStudio. As such, VS2010 created a Solution directory with my project directories inside.
So my Hierarchy is like this:
Solution
.git
project1
project2
What I'd like to do is make it like this:
Solution
Project 1
.git
Project 2
As of right now the files in the solution are tracked, except for the project 2 (so stuff like project.sln for example).
Is there a way I can do this without rewriting the history?
Thanks in advance.
Usually when you add one (in Visual Basic), it pops up a message asking if you want to enable an option that lets the test access things like private methods etc.
However, I am editing a solution that does not have this enabled. I'd like to enable it so my unit tests will work, but I can't find the setting.
Can anyone tell me how to enable it after the project has been created?
I need to add a column to an existing table in my live sql database.
I know how to use the ALTER command, but what I want to know is the effect this has on the table.
For example,, if using SQL Management Studio, it claims that adding a column will "drop and recreate" the table.
Will the ALTER table command do that as well?
This table is CONSTANTLY accessed and VERY important so I want to make VERY sure of this before going forward.
Is there any way to access my asp.net dev server (launched from visual studio) from an outside connection? It seems to be filtered to only allow localhost
I have programed an application on windows XP and in VisualStudio with c++ language.
In that app I used LoadResource() API to load a resource for giving a file in the resource memory.
It returned a pointer of memory block and I wanna cast the pointer to the std stream to use for compatibility.
Could anyone help me?
Hi there,
How to get a script for all tables about all default constraints and indexes from an existing database?
SQL Server Management Studio produces SQL-Scripts with the create table statements and there is no option to dismiss it.
Peace
