• `gem install mongrel` fails with ruby 1.9.1

  I initiated myself into rails development yesterday. I installed ruby 1.9.1, rubygems and rails. Running gem install mongrel worked fine and ostensibly installed mongrel too. • on iPhone change the url background color (when get tapped) from gray to others

  It could be a HTML question as well... I have a UIWebView with a page (from the hand made html string) loaded. For the url link on the page, if you tap on it, it has gray as background, which I think is the default behavior on iPhone. Is there a way to programmingly (thru javascript) change that to be other colors, say, blue? It doesn't seem to work for me anyhow.

• NSUserDefaults not present on first run on simulator

  I've got some settings saved in my Settings.bundle, and I try to use them in application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions, but on a first run on the simulator accessing objects by key always returns nil (or 0 in the case of ints). Once I go to the settings screen and then exit, they work fine for every run thereafter. What's going on? Isn't the point of using default values in the Settings.bundle to be able to use them without requiring the user to enter them first?

• KML Layers Cursor CSS - Google Maps API v3

  I've run into a small problem with the semi-new KML Overlay functionality with Google Maps API v3, wherein while I am able to use "suppressInfoWindows: true;", the cursor still appears as though the overlay(s) are clickable. Is there a way at this time to change the css on the overlay(s) so that the cursor is the default cursor, so that they are purely visual, and don't confuse the user? • What's the use of Ant's extension-point if/unless attributes?

  When you define an extension-point in an Ant build file you can have it conditional by using the if or unless attribute. On a target the if/unless prevent it's tasks from being run. But an extension-point doesn't have any tasks to conditionally run, so what does the condition do? My thought (which proved to be incorrect in Ant 1.8.0) is it would prevent any tasks that extend the extension-point from being run. What is the value of the if/unless attributes on an extention-point?

• Populating fields in modal form using PHP, jQuery

  I have a form that adds links to a database, deletes them, and -- soon -- allows the user to edit details. I am using jQuery and Ajax heavily on this project and would like to keep all control in the same page. In the past, to handle editing something like details about another website (link entry), I would have sent the user to another PHP page with form fields populated with PHP from a MySQL database table. How do I accomplish this using a jQuery UI modal form and calling the details individually for that particular entry? • Animated transitions for jQuery UI's sortable

  Just out of curiosity, as I haven't been able to find anything anywhere; does anyone know of a way to get jQuery UI's sortable function to animate its sorting? What I mean is, when you move an element around the sortable parent, its children, the sortables, skip around instead of smoothly animating to their new position, which besides from being an eyesore can also make it a bit difficult to figure out what has moved where. There's obviously no default option for this, but I was hoping that perhaps someone, somewhere, had a neat solution.

  When I pass compiler flag "-mmacosx-version-min=10.5", what does it mean? I think it implies the result binary is x86, not ppc, but is it 32 bits or 64 bits? I'm compiling on snow leopard, so default output binary is 64 bits. I'm not passing -universal, it's not 32bit-64bit universal binary, I think.

• Custom Annotation not showing all

  Okay, i have a number of pins on the mapkit. These pins showing different types of attractions. (E.g Parks, Farms and etc) I want to add custom images for these different types of pin. Parks have a park image and vice versa. However, when i added in, not all the images are showing successfully. For example, in parks, it should have 5 pins, but the image only came up in 2 pins, whereas other 3 is in default red pins. But if i used colours to differentiate them. For example, [pinsetPinColor:MKPinAnnotationColorGreen]; It works! Anyone knows what is the problem? Relevant codes below.   The default git diff behavior is to open each diff file in serial (wait for previous file to be closed before opening next file). I'm looking for a way to open all the files at once - in BeyondCompare for example this would open all the files in tabs within the same BC window. This would make it easier to review a complex set of changes; flick back and forwards between the diff files and ignore unimportant files.
