How to set up weekends in richfaces calendar?

Hi all! I want to change next example: http://livedemo.exadel.com/richfaces-demo/richfaces/calendar.jsf?tab=organizer&cid=1157294 to have ability to set up weekends and hollydays. And I have q few questions: 1) why I could use data.shortDescription/data.description in the next code: <div> <h:outputText value="{data.shortDescription.escapeHTML()}" /> </div> <div> <h:outputText value="{data.description.escapeHTML()}"/> </div> Can I use something else to show the text in the current date? I want to add boolean isDayOff field to CalendarDataModelItemImpl, but I don't know, how I will retrieve it and show, and also save. Could anyone give me some ideas or example? Also I need to show this new weekends with red color.

RichFaces rich:panel header not appearing

Hello I specified this <rich:panel> <f:facet name="header"> Panel #1. Changing Style Synchronously </f:facet> Each component in the RichFaces has a pre-defined set of classes you can manipulate with. If defined, those classes overwrite the ones come from the skin. </rich:panel> from the RichFaces demo, in my JSF page and no header appears, although I've nothing in my css which would interfere. Netbeans can't find running Tomcat

Hi! I'm running Tomcat inside of Netbeans. I added Tomcat server(not bundled with Netbeans) to Servers in Netbeans. But, when i'm trying to run Tomcat, it starts(i can visit Tomcat home page), but Netbeans can't find it running. Where is the problem? No stacktrace in Tomcat. When i'm deploying my project`s war in this Tomcat manually, everything works, but i need to deploy it automatically from Netbeans. Configuration: Netbeans 6.8 + Tomcat 6.0.26 + JSF and Hibernate project.

How to configure tomahawk and trinidad to work together

Hi, I am new to JSF. I want to use inputListOfValues component from Trinidad in my application which also uses Tomahawk. I have added the required jars for Trinidad and before getting inputListOfValues I tried one simple inputText to be printed on browser using Trinidad. I was not getting any configuration errors but it was not printing the corresponding text on browser. So I wonder if I can use tomahawk and trinidad together ? If yes, is there any configuration setting we need to do for this ? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ganesh.

Instead they appear to simply refresh the view page. I have ran the app in debug and neither update or delete method is hit. I suspect this may be due to using h:commandButton within a p:dataTable. However, I have also tried p:commandButton but to no avail. Seam page navigation with includes

Hello, I'm using seam page navigation rules. and did not experience any problem with adding rules which redirect from one page to another. But since I designed my page views using those redirection simply don't happen anymore for those pages. Tried to define the rule to the view that gets included, then to the view that includes the others (which to me was making more sense) but none work. Is there anything special about page navigation in seam using included view-id ? I'm using jsf, xhtml as my page views. Thanks

New Session is created between consecutive servlet request from an Applet and a managed bean??

Hi, I want to pass parameters betweeen applet and jsf components So when a value of a input textbox changed, its binding backing bean makes connection to a servlet. The servlet create an attribute and save to HttpSession using (request.getSession(true)).setAttribute(name, value); Then at some event, applet will access another servlet. This servlet will try to retrieve the Attribute saved to Session previously. However, everytime, the attirbute returned is null as the new session is created instead. My question is: Is the session should be persist? ( I checked allowcookies, session timeout for weblogic) If yes, what might go wrong with my app? Thanks a lot for your help. Regards K.

What web UI framework is most suitable for building dynamic pages / forms?

Hello, We are at a stage where we are considering different Web UI frameworks (most likely component based ones such as GWT, JSF, Wicket, Vaadin, etc). One of the main use cases / constraints is that it must support generating dynamic pages. I.e., the page/form layout and components is stored in a database and is changeable at runtime, and from this pages are generated. We are also going to write static layouts, but that is not the main focus of this question. I thought maybe the user community here can share experiences of different frameworks in this context. Are there differences in ease of implementation and what is suitable?

Accessing FacesContext from Web Service

I'm developing a Web Service which will be called by clients which are written by me. In the web service I need to use application-wide objects which eases the load of application on the system. I have implemented my application-wide objects as shown in this question. I can use my object in a jsf page with no problem as follows. MyObject mo = (MyObject) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getApplicationMap().get("MyObjectsName"); But when it comes to use it in a Web Service Request FacesContext.getCurrentInstance() returns null. Is there any way to use the FacesContext in a web service.

Why is NavigationHandler.handleNavigation() not forwarding to view ID?

Inside of a phase listener class that runs during the "RESTORE_VIEW" phase, I have some code like this: public void afterPhase(PhaseEvent event) { FacesContext fc = event.getFacesContext(); NavigationHandler nh = fc.getApplication().getNavigationHandler(); nh.handleNavigation(fc, null, "/a/specific/path/to/a/resource.jspx"); } Navigation to the new URL doesn't work here. The request made will just receive a response from the original JSPX that was navigated to. Code like this works fine: public void afterPhase(PhaseEvent event) { FacesContext fc = event.getFacesContext(); NavigationHandler nh = fc.getApplication().getNavigationHandler(); nh.handleNavigation(fc, null, "OUTCOME_DEFINED_IN_FACES_CONFIG_XML"); } Also the first snippet will work with an IceFaces Faces provider, but not Sun JSF 1.2 which is what I need to use. Is there something I can do to fix the code so it is possible to forward to specific URLs?

Facelets charset problem

Hi! In my earlier post there was a problem with JSF charset handling, but also the other part of the problem was MySQL connection parameters for inserting data into db. The problem was solved. But, I migrated the same application from JSP to facelets and the same problem happened again. Characters from input fields are replaced when inserting to database (c is replaced with Ä), but data inserted into db from sql scripts with proper charset are displayed correctly. I'm still using registered filter and page templates are used with head meta tag as following: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2"> If I insert into h:form tag the following attribute: acceptcharset="iso-8859-2" I get correct characters in Firefox, but not in IE7. Is there anything else I should do to make it work? Thanks in advance.

Caching instances in a jee web app

Hi, Consider the scenario of a typical webapp with JSFs on the front and ejb3, with Hibernate as JPA provider, talking to backend database such as mysql, etc. The main user actions are login and mostly CRUD operations (minus any D(elete) operations). And the App Server is GlassFish of course. Given this scenario, how and where all would one go about providing caching to improve performance? From what I have googled, I have seen that hibernate provides some sort of caching through different cache providers. Is there any sort of caching that can be provided for the jsf pages? How about session beans or entity beans on the ejb side of things? Also, I just read about memcached and was wondering if this was something to consider?

How to I tell the perms-filter to check for http-params? Or is this supposed to be done in my Realm-Implemenation, concrete by calling FacesContext? Text input for multi-valued attribute

I need to create an input form that will allow a user to enter any number of values for a particular attribute. I've tried several approaches, all of which seem to have various levels of failure. The latest model bean looks something like: public class Product { private String name; private String[] tags; ...accessors... } The input fields look something like: <h:inputText id="name" value="#{product.name}"></h:inputText> <h:inputText id="tag0" value="#{product.tag[0]}"></h:inputText> My plan was to allow the user is to use javascript to add additional form fields as needed. This type of setup gives me a 'Target Unreachable' error. What am I missing? I am using JSF 1.1 on WebSphere 6.1

Unique number generation with Java Server Faces

I am developing an application for a medical channelling centre where multiple users reserve bookings for doctors with JSF and JPA. A sequence number is unique to the Doctor, Date and Session. I tried to get a unique sequence number from counting the previous bookings and add one, but if two requests comes at the same time, two bookings get the same number causing trouble to functionality. How can I get unique number in this case? Can I use an application wide bean to generate it? (I thought it is not practicle to get the unique number from the database sequence number as there are several doctors, sessions and daily they have to have different booking number.)

Hi I have the follonwing selectOneMenu <h:selectOneMenu value="#{modelsController.selected.idBrands}"> <f:selectItems value="{brandsController.itemsAvailableSelectOne}" /> </h:selectOneMenu> <br/> which is populated with all available brands in the bean. And I would like to create a button that retrives the brand selected in the mentioned selectOneMenu and display the records in the bean filtered by the selection (what I mean, is that if the user selected, aBrand in the selectOneMenu all models from abrand will be shown in a datatable. Can I ReRender the entire tree of a component?

On a certain event (Value change) I would like to reRender the entire component tree for one of those components. Vote or add comments will commit immediately and refresh total vote number and comments count. We want to refresh current row instead of whole table just like Facebook does. If need, we can show the list of data with form format (iterator List of data) instead of table format. How to implement this feature base on JSF?

I am using netbean 6.8 btw. Let say that I have 4 different tables: Company, Facility, Project, and Document. So the relationship is this. A company can have multiple facilities. A facility can have multiple projects, and a project can have multiple documents. Company: +companyNum: PK +facilityNum: FK Facility: +facilityNum: PK +projectNum: FK Project: +projectNum: PK +drawingNum: FK So when I create Entity Class From Database in netbean 6.8, I have 4 entity classes that named after the above 4 tables. So if I want to see all the Document in the database, then it is easy. In my SessionBean, I would do this: @PersistenceContext private EntityManager em; List<Document> documents = em.createNamedQuery("Document.findAll").getResultList(); However, that is not all what I need. Let say that I want to know all the Document from a particular Company, or all the Document from a particular Project from a particular Facility from a particular Company. I am very new to JPA + EJB + JSF as a whole. Please help me out.

How to authenticate users against a Windows AD?

I've a JSF-Hibernate web application. I need to authenticate users against a Windows AD and the web application should only allow logins from members of group X, otherwise it should redirect to an error page. How can I configure this? Also, I would like to display the name of the logged-in user on all pages, not the name of the Windows user of the server machine. I have tried the System.property("user.name") for this, but this only returns the name of the Windows user of the server name.
