  • Nhibernate mapping: fixed count multiple members instead of collection

    - by AhmetC
    I don't want to put wheels into a collection. How can i map kind of relation? Class Wheel { int id; Car Owner; } Class Car { int id; Wheel Wheel1; Wheel Wheel2; Wheel Wheel3; Wheel Wheel4; } I tried this but Wheelmap.Owner comes always null : Class WheelMap : ClassMap<Wheel> { Id(x=>x.Id); References(x=>x.Owner); } Class CarMap : ClassMap<Car> { Id(x=>x.Id); References(x=>x.Wheel1).Cascade.All(); References(x=>x.Wheel2).Cascade.All(); References(x=>x.Wheel3).Cascade.All(); References(x=>x.Wheel4).Cascade.All(); }

  • What's the purpose of GC.SuppressFinalize(this) in Dispose() method?

    - by mr.b
I have code that looks like this: /// <summary> /// Dispose of the instance /// </summary> public void Dispose() { if (_instance != null) { _instance = null; // Call GC.SupressFinalize to take this object off the finalization // queue and prevent finalization code for this object from // executing a second time. GC.SuppressFinalize(this); } } Although there is a comment that explains purpose of that GC-related call, I still don't understand why it's there. Isn't object destined for garbage collection once all instances cease from existence (like, when used in using() block)? What's the use case scenario where this would play important role? Thanks!

  • Error: A SQLParamenter wtih ParameterName @myparm is not contained by this SQLParameter Collection

    - by SidC
Good Morning, I'm working on an ASP.NET 3.5 webforms application and have written the following code: Protected Sub btnSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSubmit.Click Dim connectionString As String = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("Diel_inventoryConnectionString").ConnectionString Dim con As New SqlConnection(connectionString) Dim adapter1 As New SqlDataAdapter adapter1.SelectCommand = New SqlCommand adapter1.SelectCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure adapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText = "PartSproc" Dim parmNSN As New SqlParameter("@NSN", SqlDbType.NVarChar) Dim parmName As New SqlParameter("@PartName", SqlDbType.NVarChar) txtNSN.Text = adapter1.SelectCommand.Parameters("@NSN").Value txtSearch.Text = adapter1.SelectCommand.Parameters("@PartName").Value Dim dt As New DataTable() adapter1.Fill(dt) MySearch.DataSource = dt MySearch.DataBind() End Sub When I run the page, I receive the error A SQLParameter with @NSN is not contained by this SQLParameter Collection. I tried using apostrophes around the @NSN and @PartName but that does not work either and presents expression expected error. How might I rectify the above code so that it references the @NSN and @PartName parameters correctly? Thanks, Sid

  • Turn a collection of headings, paragraphs and lists into one hyperlink

    - by Moak
Is there a valid non js way to turn a collection of headings, paragraphs and lists into one url? (like in advertisements?) <a href="http://www.example.com" class="allclickable"> <h2>Fresh Bread</h2> <p>Delivered to your door</p> <ul> <li>Daily</li> <li>Fresh</li> <li>Bread</li> </ul> </a> This does not validate and I do want the href to be display as block element (so also the space around the text is clickable). • The best way to assign an immutable instance to a Collection in Java

    - by Ali
Today I was reading through some Hibernate code and I encounter something interesting. There is a class called CollectionHelper that defines the following constant varibale: public final class CollectionHelper { public static final List EMPTY_LIST = Collections.unmodifiableList( new ArrayList(0 ) ; public static final Collection EMPTY_COLLECTION = Collections.unmodifiableCollection(new ArrayList(0) ); public static final Map EMPTY_MAP = Collections.unmodifiableMap( new HashMap(0) ); They have used these constants to initialize collections with immutable instances. Why they didn't simply use the Collections.EMPTY_LIST for initializing lists? Is there a benefit in using the following method?

  • Java - Circular Garbage Collection

    - by aloh
    A <- B <- C <- D <- A... // A is firstNode, D is lastNode if ( length == 1 ) { firstNode = null; lastNode = null; firstNode.next = null; firstNode.prev = null; } else { Node secondNode = firstNode.next; Node secondToLast = lastNode.prev; firstNode.next = null; firstNode.prev = null; lastNode.next = null; lastNode.prev = null; secondNode.prev = null; secondToLast.next = null; firstNode = null; lastNode = null; } That should send everything in between as candidates for garbage collection, I hope?

  • Exception "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions" when saving object

    - by Alex
I am using CastleProject ActiveRecord and I use lazy load feature of this ORM. In order to make lazy load work, it is required to create SessionScope. I do this in Program.cs: public static SessionScope sessionScope; private static void InitializeActiveRecord() { ActiveRecordStarter.Initialize(); sessionScope = new SessionScope(); } This works fine for loading, however, when I try to save my objects, I get an exception saying "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions". I guess this is due to the fact that I created one session myself. How to avoid this exception?

  • Comparison of collection datatypes in C#

    - by Joel in Gö
Does anyone know of a good overview of the different C# collection types? I am looking for something showing which basic operations such as Add, Remove, RemoveLast etc. are supported, and giving the relative performance. It would be particularly interesting for the various generic classes - and even better if it showed eg. if there is a difference in performance between a List<T> where T is a class and one where T is a struct. A start would be a nice cheat-sheet for the abstract data structures, comparing Linked Lists, Hash Tables etc. etc. Thanks!

  • Deleting a Collection with NHibernate Using the Criteria API

    - by lomaxx
I think I know what the answer to this question is probably going to be, but I thought I'd go ahead and ask it anyway. It appears that within NHibernate if I do something like this: IList<Customer> customers = Session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Customer)) .Add(Restrictions.Eq("Name", "Steve") .List<Customer>(); And I want to then delete that list of customers. From what I can tell the only way to do it is like this: foreach(var customer in customers) { Session.Delete(customer); } But what I'm wondering is if there's any way I can just go: Session.Delete(customers); And delete the entire collection with a single call?

  • Adding items to Model Collection in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Stacey
In an ASP.NET MVC application where I have the following model.. public class EventViewModel { public Guid Id { get; set; } public List<Guid> Attendants { get; set; } } passed to a view... public ActionResult Create(EventViewModel model) { // ... } I want to be able to add to the "Attendants" Collection from the View. The code to add it works just fine - but how can I ensure that the View model retains the list? Is there any way to do this without saving/opening/saving etc? I am calling my addition method via jQuery $.load. public void Insert(Guid attendant) { // add the attendant to the attendees list of the model - called via $.load } I would also like to add there is no database. There is no storage persistence other than plain files.

  • How can I create a collection of references in C#

    - by Jonathan Kaufman
Ok I am having a cross language hiccup. In C# with it's great collections like List and I have: a Map class with properties of: List<byte[]> Images; List<Tile> Tiles; a Tile Class of: byte[] ImageData; int X; int Y; Now I want to add an image to the Map class and have the ImageData property of the Tile Classes to "reference" it. I have discovered I can't just assign it Images[0]. You can't have a reference to an object of a List. My fix was to create a Dictionary. Is this the best way or can I somehow have a "pointer" to a collection of objects?

  • What is a flexible, hybrid python collection object?

    - by Naveen
As a way to get used to python, I am trying to translate some of my code to python from Autohotkey_L. I am immediately running into tons of choices for collection objects. Can you help me figure out a built in type or a 3rd party contributed type that has as much as possible, the functionality of the AutoHotkey_L object type and its methods. AutoHotkey_L Objects have features of a python dict, list, and a class instance. I understand that there are tradeoffs for space and speed, but I am just interested in functionality rather than optimization issues.

  • Lifetime of javacript variables.

    - by The Machine
What is the lifetime of a variable in javascript, declared with "var". I am sure, it is definitely not according to expectation. <script> function(){ var a; var fun=function(){ // a is accessed and modified } }(); </script> Here how and when does javascript garbage collect the variable a? Since 'a' is a part of the closure of the inner function, it ideally should never get garbage collected, since the inner function 'fun', may be passed as a reference to an external context. So 'fun' should still be able to access 'a', from the external context. If my understanding is correct, how does garbage collection happen then, and how does it ensure to have enough memory space, since keeping all variables in memory until the execution of the program might not be tenable ?

  • C# Async call garbage collection

    - by Troy
Hello. I am working on a Silverlight/WCF application and of course have numerous async calls throughout the Silverlight program. I was wondering on how is the best way to handle the creation of the client classes and subscribing. Specifically, if I subscribe to an event in a method, after it returns does it fall out of scope? internal MyClass { public void OnMyButtonClicked() { var wcfClient = new WcfClient(); wcfClient.SomeMethodFinished += OnMethodCompleted; wcfClient.SomeMethodAsync(); } private void OnMethodCompleted(object sender, EventArgs args) { //Do something with the result //After this method does the subscription to the event //fall out of scope for garbage collection? } } Will I run into problems if I call the function again and create another subscription? Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

  • Re-ordering collection C#

    - by Adam
Hi - I have a problem which I cant seem to find answer to through searches (either that or I am searching for the completely wrong thing!). I have a list of items called "Top 10" in a sortedlist item that is populated from my DB (SortedList where int is position and string is item). I want to be able to move items up & down the list order at the click of a button and then save the new order back to the DB. I am OK with the DB part it is just the re-ordering I am really struggling with - is a sortedlist the correct collection for this? Many thanks for any advice offered.

  • C# - implementing GetEnumerator() for a collection inherited from List<string>

    - by Vojtech
Hi, I am trying to implement FilePathCollection. Its items would be simple file names (without a path - such as "image.jpg"). Once the collection is used via foreach cycle, it should return the full path created by concatenating with "baseDirectory". How can I do that? public class FilePathCollection : List<string> { string baseDirectory; public FileCollection(string baseDirectory) { this.baseDirectory = baseDirectory; } new public System.Collections.IEnumerator GetEnumerator() { foreach (string value in this._list) //this does not work because _list is private yield return baseDirectory + value; } } Thanks in advance! :-)

  • How to tell which thread(s) are producing all the garbage?

    - by Brad Hein
I have an app with about 15 threads. Most do mundane tasks and sleep most of their lives. Others collect information and cache it in hashmaps. The hashmaps grow to a moderate size and level out. The number of keys and size of value remains constant, but the contents of the values changes (at 33 keys per second average). When I start my app, I notice the garbage collection interval goes from minutes to once per second, and the amount of garbage is 700k+ each time. In fact as I was writing this, it caused my phone to reboot with an error "Referencetable Overflow". Here's my question: Are there any tricks to identifying which threads are producing the garbage, or even finding out more about what garbage they are producing?

  • SSRS Dynamic Returning Dataset Collection Field in Expression

    - by Ray Clark
I wrote a custom assembly to take a parameter value from the report and return a field from the dataset collection. My assembly returns the correct fields!name.value, but it shows me the string representation of it. How can I get it to resolve as the actual fields!name.value to display the actual data in the dataset? If I enter fields!name.value in manually it works fine showing me the value. If I resolve it with my custom code it display "fields!name.value" to me in the cell.

  • Finding parents where child collection does not contain an item

    - by Colin Bowern
I am trying to get a list of parents where the child collection does not contain an item of a specific type. The LINQ equivalent would be something like: dataset.Where(x => x.Items.FirstOrDefault(y => y.Type.Code == "ABC") == null) The object model is Parent Child (Items) Type Code If Parent is my aggregate root, how would I model this in NHibernate criteria/query? Here's my first attempt: var results = session.CreateCriteria<Parent>() .CreateCriteria("Items") .CreateCriteria("Type") .Add(Restrictions.Not(Restrictions.Eq("Code", "ABC"))) .SetResultTransformer(Transformers.DistinctRootEntity) .List<Parent>(); This doesn't seem to return the right entities - it just returns them all.

  • C5 Generics Collection IntervalHeap<T> -- getting an IPriorityQueueHandle from a T for Replace or De

    - by Jared Updike
I'm using the Generics Collection library C5 (server down :-( ) and I have an IntervalHeap(T) and I need to Delete or Replace a T that is not the Max or Min. How do I get an IPriorityQueueHandle from my T? The C5 library source code shows that IPriorityQueueHandle(T) has no methods or properties to implement and the compiler thinks my implementation of IPriorityQueueHandle(T) for my T is acceptable. I try to use a T like this: q.Replace(t, t); and the C5 library throws an InvalidCastException because it cannot convert my T to a (Handle).

  • Using git to sync existing file collection?

    - by chrish
I've got a collection of files that formerly lived in a Subversion repo; on my new server I've imported them into a git repo so I could start getting more experience with that. On several other machines, I've got mostly up-to-date copies of the existing svn repo files. Is there any way to sync to the new git repo, but use these existing files so I don't have to re-transfer all of the data? Is git smart enough that if I do a fetch? or checkout? that it'll notice the files are identical and not re-transfer them?

  • Empty dict-like collection problem in SQLAlchemy

    - by maksymko
I have a mapping in SQLAlchemy that looks like this: t_property_value = sa.Table('property_value', MetaData, autoload = True, autoload_with = engine) orm.mapper(PropertyValue, t_property_value) t_estate = sa.Table('estate', MetaData, autoload = True, autoload_with = engine) orm.mapper(Estate, t_estate, properties = dict( property_hash = orm.relation(PropertyValue, collection_class = column_mapped_collection(t_property_value.c.property_id)) )) Now, everything seems to be fine, when I load the Estate object and it has some relations to PropertyValue objects. However, when it does not, then property_hash attribute is None, instead of being something dict-like, so I can not add new relations like this: estate.property_hash[prop_id] = PropertyValue(...) because I get the "'NoneType' object does not support item assignment" error. So, is there any way to force SQLAlchemy to create proper empty collection?
