  • Use a custom domain and point to Tumblr blog

    My domain mydomain.com is registered with GoDaddy. I wish to host my Tumblr blog on this domain with Nearly Free Speech hosting. My active nameservers at GoDaddy already point to my authoritative ones at Nearly Free Speech which is working. However I'm baffled as to how to get my correct configuration to point to my Tumblr. Preferably I'd like (A) my domain http://mydomain.com to host the blog and have http://www.mydomain.com redirect also to http://mydomain.com. If this is too difficult my next preference is (B) to have http://www.mydomain.com host the blog whilst http://mydomain.com redirects to http://www.mydomain.com My third preference is to have (C) a sub-domain like http://tumblr.mydomain.com or http://tumblr.mydomain.com to host the blog and I guess have http://mydomain.com and http://www.mydomain.com both redirect to it. I've tried having two aliases mydomain.com and www.mydomain.com pointing to my permanent Nearly Free Speech IP at mydomain.nfshost.com and when I try to add: (1) an A record pointing mydomain.com to the IP 66.6.44.4 as per Tumblr's instructions it tells me I already have the bare domain as an alias so I cant do that. (2) the A record on the www.mydomain.com alias. I can do this with either www.mydomain.com set as an alias or not. But when I tried this with mydomain.com set as the canonical name the result when visiting either mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com was both of them continually redirecting to each other until an error was thrown. So I was wondering if there is a ninja that could save me some hair-pulling and tell me the correct way to config A, or else B, or else C.

  • AdvanceTimePolicy and Point Event Streams In StreamInsight.

    There are a number of ways to issues CTIs (Current Time Increments) into your StreamInsight streams but a quite useful way is to do it declaratively on your source factory like this public AdapterAdvanceTimeSettings DeclareAdvanceTimeProperties<TPayload>(InputConfig configInfo, EventShape eventShape) {     return new AdapterAdvanceTimeSettings(         new AdvanceTimeGenerationSettings(configInfo.CtiFrequency, TimeSpan.FromTicks(-1)),         AdvanceTimePolicy.Adjust); } This will issue a CTI after every event and allows no delay (for delayed events) by stamping the CTI with the timestamp of the last event minus 1 tick. The very last statement "AdvanceTimePolicy.Adjust" tells the adapter what to do with events that violate the policy (arrive late).  From BOL "Events that violate the inserted CTI are moved in time if their lifetime overlaps with the CTI timestamp. That is, the start timestamp of the events is set to the most recent CTI timestamp, which renders those events valid. If both start and end time of an event fall before the CTI timestamp, then the event is dropped." This means that if you are using this method of inserting CTIs for a Point event stream and have specified "AdvanceTimePolicy.Adjust" for the violation policy, this setting will be ignored and instead it will use "AdvanceTimePolicy.Drop" because a Point event can never straddle a CTI.

What job ran for roughly six hours completed in less than 1.5 hours.   • Lenovo Thinkpad R500 having problems resuming

    Yesterday I installed Ubuntu 11.04 from scratch on my Thinkpad R500, leaving the default power management settings. Yesterday I closed the lid, and this morning when I opened it the laptop resumed correctly. Today during lunch the laptop went to sleep without me closing the lid, and there was no way to wake it up by typing ESC or moving the mouse or TrackPoint. No disk activity at all. When I briefly pushed the POWER button, the laptop rebooted completely, losing my opened applications. Is it a known problem with Natty/Lenovo Thinkpad R500/ATI? Any idea what could fix the problem?

    I have a Dell Inspiron M5010 and I am unable to change my backlight brightness with the F-Keys and it also does not work with gnome brightness widget.   • Please Help to bring back power to my machine

    I Have a samsung N150plus netbook That I have been using for a while now. I left it on and plugged to a wall outlet and went to bed. I dual boot ubuntu and win7. I tried to update the win7 to sp1 and I dozed off. I woke up and saw the machine has been booted to ubuntu and logged in as guest, which translate to mean one of my room mates have tried to use the machine and they all have denied using my machine. I tried to reboot to windows and then it appears to have no cpu, hard disk and cpu fan activity. only one led seems to come on when i plug it in. its only the led that indicate the machine is powered on powers steadily. I really cant afford to buy a new machine now and I need the machine to complete my last project in school for my last year. Help Please

  • Effective and simple matching for 2 unequal small-scale point sets

    I need to match two sets of 3D points, however the number of points in each set can be different. It seems that most algorithms are designed to align images and trimmed to work with hundreds of thousands of points. My case are 50 to 150 points in each of the two sets. So far I have acquainted myself with Iterative Closest Point and Procrustes Matching algorithms. Implementing Procrustes algorithms seems like a total overkill for this small quantity. ICP has many implementations, but I haven't found any readily implemented version accounting for the so-called "outliers" - points without a matching pair. Besides the implementation expense, algorithms like Fractional and Sparse ICP use some statistics information to cancel points that are considered outliers. For series with 50 to 150 points statistic measures are often biased or statistic significance criteria are not met. I know of Assignment Problem in linear optimization, but it is not suitable for cases with unequal sets of points. Are there other, small-scale algorithms that solve the problem of matching 2 point sets? I am looking for algorithm names, scientific papers or C++ implementations. I need some hints to know where to start my search.

    Up to now I have been looking at F# for modular solutions, but have never considered writing an end to end application. Today I was wondering how one would even start to write an end to end application and realized that I didn’t even know where the entry point is for an F# application. After browsing MSDN a bit I got a basic example of a F# application with an entry point [<EntryPoint>] let main args = printfn "Arguments passed to function : %A" args // Return 0. This indicates success. 0 Pretty simple stuff… but what happens when you have a few modules in a program – so I created a F# project with two modules and a main module as illustrated in the image below… When I try to compile my program I get a build error… A function labeled with the 'EntryPointAttribute' attribute must be the last declaration in the last file in the compilation sequence, and can only be used when compiling to a .exe… What does this mean? After some more reading I discovered that the Program.fs needs to be the last file in the F# application – the order of the files in a F# solution are important. How do I move a source file up or down? I tried dragging the Program.fs file below ModuleB.fs but it wouldn’t allow me to. Then I thought to right click on a source file and got the following menu.   Wala… to move the source file to the bottom of the solution you can select the “Move Up” or “Move Down” option. Now that I got this right I decided to put some code in ModuleA & ModuleB and I have the start of a basic application structure.   • USB Wireless keyboard and wired mouse do not power on at system boot

    This did not use to be an issue but, I am not sure why, my USB keyboard and mouse are not powering on after system boot. I can fix the keyboard by taking out and then plugging back in the USB antennae, which makes it work right away, but the mouse, even if I un-plug it and plug it back in, it takes about two-three minutes until it receives any juice and starts working. Any ways I can debug this, or fix it? Thanks!

  • HP 655 notebook (ubuntu 12.04) keeps consuming energy after closing the lid

    I am unable to change power settings so that when I close the lid the battery stops consuming energy. There are three options in the power settings menu: When the screen is closed: 1 Do nothing 2 Pause 3 Sleep First I could not change anything. I see all the options but I could not click on option 2 and 3. (grey text instead of black) I already made it possible to put in to sleep mode. But I can't pause (suspend) the laptop. Anyone an idea?

    If I have a grid of rectangles and I move one of the rectangles, say above and to the left of another rectangle, how would I resort the rectangles? Note the rectangles are in an array, so each rectangle has an index and a matching tag. All I really need to do is set the proper index based on the rectangles new center point position within the rectangle, as compared with the center point position of the other rectangles in the grid.     I'm a Windows user and I have no experience with Linux and Ubuntu. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my netbook (Asus 1215B) and everything works fine. Yesterday I ran the "update application" and updated over 120 "things" (I have no idea what exactly). After that I was asked to reboot, and I did. Ubuntu starts again and at the load screen with these 5 dots that normally begin to change color, it freezes. After 20 minutes I took out the battery to try another reboot (yes, not the the best idea), and now nothing happens. I boot from the HDD and I get an Error BOOTMGR is missing. I have important data on the hard drive. Is there an option to get this fixed? Or if not, to at least get the data from the hard drive? Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit Edit: it is ONLY Ubuntu on this Netbook, which uses the whole 500gb HDD as 1 Partition. Filesystem is NTFS. Whole Hardware seems okay. The USB drive which i used to instl the Os was formated in fat32
