• Keeping messages in queue in case of receiver crash

  Hi, We've a Spring JMS message listener container for receiving messages asynchronously. Using DefaultMessageListenerContainer and in sessionTransacted mode. I understand being in sessionTransacted mode means in case of an exception the message will be put back into the queue. But how can I make sure the message won't be deleted from the queue even if the receiver (which is picked the message) crashes or just the machine running it looses power? At first I thought CLIENT_ACKNOWLEDGE acknowledge mode should save me, but apparently it's not the case, Spring calls .acknowledge() no matter what. So here's my question, how can I guarantee the delivery? Using a custom MessageListenerContainer? Using a transaction manager?

  I am building a web application that is dependent upon several third-party libraries. What is a good strategy for making sure that you're always using the most fully patched versions? A simple method would be to keep the versions written down and visit the websites at regular intervals, but I am looking for some way to get the information 'pushed' to me if possible. I figured that there might be others out there who have needed to do the same thing and have worked out a good solution. • Rendering a different controller and action while keeping errors

  I have a form in one controller(A) that renders a partial from another controller(B), and stays on A's edit page during editing / updating etc. However... When the partial form form controller B has an error, the error doesn't show up on A's edit page right now, if there is an error, I am doing (in controller B's update method) redirect_to :controller => "A", :action => "edit" and then this is built in... but I don't know what to do with it... the error needs to be sent to controller A... but.. it doesn't format.xml { render :xml => @varFromB.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } thanks

• ASP MVC: Keeping track of logged in users.

  I'm creating a ASP MVC application. And because of the complex authorization i'm trying to build my own login system. (So i'm not using asp membership providers, and related classes). Now i'm able to create new accounts in the database with hashed passwords. But how do i keep track that a user is logged in. Is generating a long random number and putting this with the userID in the database and cookie enough? Sorry for my rather bad english! Ty in advance :)

  Trying to create a large textbox of fixed size. This problem is very similar to the 140 character constraint problem, but instead of stopping typing at 140 characters, I want to stop typing when the edge of the textView's frame is reached, instead of extending below into the abyss. Here is what I've got for the delegate method. Seems to always be off by a little bit.   I'm designing a question-and-answer Ruby on Rails application. After a user logs in, you can see a list of questions posed by other users. I have a link next to each of the questions to /answers/new?question_id=someNumber. That links to a page that displays the question (to remind the "answerer") above a standard form for submitting your answer. In order to display the question, I call @question = Question.find_by_id(params[:question_id]) and reference @question in the Haml view file: Question details %h2 #{h @question.title} #{h @question.description} %br/ %br/ %h1 Your answer - form_for(@answer) do |f| = f.error_messages %p = f.label :description, "Enter your response here" %br = f.text_area :description = f.hidden_field "question", :value => @question.id %p = f.submit 'Answer' The problem is that if I check validates_presence_of :description in Answer.rb, then I lose question_id if the user did not input anything into the description field when the page reloads, so I can't re-display the question for which the user is answering. How should I fix this? Is there a better way of storing the question the user is trying to answer so that I can display it above the form for entering a new answer (and perhaps in other views in the future)?   Hi, Im a j2ee developper & we are using hibernatne mapping with a postgres databasae. We have to keep track of any changes occurs in the databse , in others words alls previous & current value of any field should be saved & field can be various types (bytea, int, char...) With a simple table it is easy but we a graph of objets things are more difficult So we have , speaking in a UML point of view, a graph of objects to store in the database with every changes & the user.   I was given the daunting task of converting a ASP website to PHP and SQL Server to MySQL, and I ran into an issue that hopefully somebody can help I have a user table which has a password field with datatype Varbinary(128), are using pwdencrypt to encrypt the password. Is there a way to transfer that over to MySQL, and somehow i need to be able to keep the password intact... how can i go about that? any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

You see, I am having particular difficulty in the best way to explain what is happening. As in, given any given program from a multi-agent system to a standard webservice, the best and most eloquent way to say exactly what is going on, the logic behind it and it's respective justifications. Should I avoid saying class names? Avoid specifying methods? Keep referring to class variables and any particular references?   Lua's tonumber function is nice but can only convert unsigned integers unless they are base 10. I have a situation where I have numbers like 01.4C that I would like to convert to decimal. • Exchange stops working after changing System Time

  I am currently in a situation where the system time of my windows machine differs 6 hours from the actual local time. I tried chaning the system time of my windows machine 6 hours back to match the actual local time. The issue is, when the system time is changed, Exchange stops working as it wont start anymore. When i change the time back Exchange works again. Here is the error that it shows when im trying to open the management console after changing the system time. The Follwing error occured while attempting to connect to the specified server "servername". The attempt to connect to http://servername/PowerShell using "Kerberos" authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: Access is denied. For more information, see the about_remote_troubleshooting Help topic. Any Solutions to this problem?

  I'm currently working on some code for my Programming Languages course. I can't post the code but I'm permitted to talk about some high level concepts that I'm struggling with and receive input on them. Basically the code is a recursive DFS on a undirected graph that I'm supposed to convert to a concurrent program. My professor already specified that I should create my threads in the recursive DFS method and then join them in another method. Basically, I'm having trouble thinking of how I should keep track of the threads I'm creating so I can join all of them in the other method. I'm thinking an array of Threads but I'm unsure how to add each new thread to the array or even if that's the right direction.

  Hi. First of all, my question is similar to this one But it's a little bit different. What we have is a series of environments, with the same set of services. For some environments (the local ones) we can get access to the wsdl, and thus generating the suds client. For external environment, we cannot access the wsdl. But being the same, I was hoping I can change just the URL without regenerating the client. I've tried cloning the client, but it doesn't work.

• Adding linked table to Access 2003 while keeping ODBC connection info in MDB

  I have an Access 2003 database MDB where all of the tables exist as linked tables within SQL Server 2005. The MDB file contains all of the ODBC information that points to the correct SQL Server and log-on credentials (trusted connection). What I would like to do is add a new linked table to the MDB file however I am not sure how to go about specifying the ODBC connection information. When I try to add a new linked table I keep getting prompted to locate or create a DSN file. I don't want to have to create a new DSN entry on every machine, rather I would like all that information stored within the Access MDB file itself. In the existing database I can "hover" over the table names and see the ODBC connection info as a tool-tip. All I need to do is add another linked table using the same connection information. I do have access to the SQL Server where the tables are linked to,. I have already created the new table I wanted to add. I just need to find a way to link to it.

  Hi, I was trying to create a directory of private files that could only be accessed when a user logs in. To do this, I used a folder outside the web directory, and then php to access it, if allowed.   I would like to have a layered window that is always-on-top, which I can accomplish, but there are certain screen elements that still get drawn over it, such as menus (including the start menu). Is there any way to make a window or child window of my application have a high enough top-ness property that it will draw over another application's menus? Or is there something built in to windows that ensures that menus in the currently active application are always drawn on top? In fact, I don't really understand all that well how menus work. So it might not even make any sense for me to try to make my window "act like a menu" in hopes of making it cover more things.

If user is not logged in, then user needs to log in/creates an account (handled by user controller), then vote action goes through. How do I do 2b such that once the user logs in/creates account, the vote action automatically goes through without having the user vote for the item again?

  I am working on cleaning up a mess that another programmer started. The created 2 identical databases for different locations but that obviously caused major issues. They are using cakePHP and there are quite a few relationships.
