  • "pdf_open: Not a PDF 1.[1-5] file." when typesetting TeX file in TextMate

    I have a TeX file, which is typeset by XeLaTeX. The file has \includegraphics{coverimage.eps} on the first page, and coverimage.eps is located in the same directory as the TeX file. OS: MacOS 10.6.5, TextMate 1.5.10, xelatex 3.1415926-2.2-0.9997.4 (TeX Live 2010) If I run xelatex doc.tex in console, file compiles without errors, and eps file is included. I am not sure whether it is the error of xelatex or TextMate LaTeX bundle. What I tried to do: As I said, xelatex doc.tex from console works. The exact command line that TextMate uses is: xelatex -interaction=nonstopmode -file-line-error-style -synctex=1 But it works from console too. If I convert the image to pdf (and fix the .tex file accordingly), typesetting from TextMate works too. I tried running rungs with parameters specified in the error message, and got valid .pdf file with image as a result. I compared .log files from typesetting in TextMate and in console, they are absolutely identical except for this error message (in particular, version of xelatex is the same). Does anyone know what can cause this? Please tell me if you need any additional information. Thank you in advance.

  • Java kills sound on Karmic

    Every time I run a java application, one of two things happen: Either I lose sound in all other programs (even after quitting the java app) or if some other application is already playing sound, the said java app doesn't have sound Usually this can be fixed by running pulseaudio --kill from the command line, but it doesn't always work. Is there a way to fix this problem? This didn't happen before the upgrade to karmic. Other info: The java I'm using is Sun's Java

  • Test and Production Server

    I am using Git for a test and production server and I'm trying to figure out the best way to update the production server. I have limited SSH access, and don't want to manually update my production server using FTP. I essentially would like to just be able to run a simple command and have the whole production server files match my dev. It is also important to note that users will be uploading images, and other files to our production server only, that we can not lose. Thanks,any help is appreciated

  • identify a router that cuts certain port

    Is there a way to identify which particular router between me and some server blocks connections on certain port? I am in a hotel in Thailand, where they have recently changed some settings in their equipment, and now I cannot reach any of my servers in Europe and USA by SSH / port 22. More traditional ports like 80 or 21 are open. traceroute command shows each particular router in the middle. But is there a way to identify one that filters out port 22?

  • tmux equivalent of "screen -R"?

    The tmux attach command acts more like a combination of screen -r and screen -x -- first it trys to attach to the most recently detached session, and then if none is available it will attach to a currently attached session. I want to emulate the behavior of screen -R: first try to attach to a detached session, then start a new session if there were no detached sessions. What is the best way to achieve this in tmux?

  • Untar multiple files in different directories

    Hi, am trying to perform an update on multiple site that use an open source CMS but untaring a patch file in each sites httpdocs directory. My plan was to perform a find for the patch file then untar using the following command: find . -name "patchfile.tar.gz" -exec tar -xzvf {} \; -print but it doesnt seem to work successfully anyone have any ideas as to why not?   • using Intellimouse in Parallels 5

    I'm running Win7 in Parallels 5 and have a five button USB mouse (Microsoft Intellimouse). I have my mouse's side buttons mapped to the Forward and Back (browser) commands. However, Parallel's Mouse Synchronization Service seems to be intercepting the mouse keypress event for these two buttons, and remapping them to the Windows Start Menu command. Any way to undo this? i.e. get my Back/Forward buttons working again?

    With Adobe Framemaker XI, We could use Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition v3.1 to embed the serial number and pre-validate the sign-in option. An MSI was generated, and then an automatic installation could be performed, for enterprise deployments for example. It seems Adobe Application manager v3.1 is not working with Adobe Framemaker 12. Is there any way to create a customized installation package, or any command line to use? Thanks in advance YannD.

  • URL not responding on OS X, fine on other machine

    For some reason I can't access anything on python.org. nslookup resolves the IP address, but no browser or curl command will fetch anything. It works fine on a VMWare Ubuntu virtual machine and on a Windows machine on the same network. I've checked there's nothing funny in /etc/hosts I don't know where else to go looking for issues, can anyone suggest anything? Running OS X 10.5 Leopard

  • Benchmark virtual machines?

    I'm looking for a good way to benchmark the performance of Ubuntu machines (preferably from the command line - only care about harddrive speed, memory, and cpu - not graphics). Are there any programs that could also be used on Mac or Windows so I could compare the results against an Apple or PC Desktop? Ultimately I'd like to use these benchmarks to compare different virtual machine configurations (speeds on different hosts and different hardware to get practical idea of the differences between different setups a rigs).     I have to run this command to initialize gitosis: sudo -H -u git gitosis-init < /home/ec2-user/id_rsa.pub But that asks me for a password for ec2-user: $ sudo -H -u git gitosis-init < id_rsa.pub [sudo] password for ec2-user: I do not have a password as i use the default .pem key file to login. I know i can probably login as the git user and do this, but is there any other way? Update: Using Linux AMI 12.09 (micro-instance), in region us-east-1 (N. Virginia)

What happens if the process will not stop and check for the signals for a long time (20min or 2h)? Will it still restart after such a long time ? Example my-process: until stop_signal_received work for 2h end So the script will check for stop signals every 2 hours. $sudo restart my-process Will the process restart after 2 hours or not?

  • Problem running Chrome from Start->Run

    When I hit Start-Run and type "Chrome", nothing happens (no new "chrome.exe" process is launched, not error, nothing). When I hit Start (without "Run"), type Chrome and run it, it works. How do I find what shortcut is run via Start-Run ? When I open a command prompt and write "Chrome.exe", it doesn't recognize it as an executable program.

  • Why is iTunes using so much data?

    I've been told by my ISP I'm using too much bandwidth so after using Activity Monitor to see that I'm using ~2GB a day I've used the nettop command line utility to work out where. Turns out it's iTunes. I don't use it for downloading/streaming music (other than podcasts of which I definitely don't have 2GB of new ones a day) or movies. What is iTunes doing? This is on a late 2009 MacBook running Lion 10.7.5 with iTunes version 10.7

    I want to download the following subdomain with the recursive option using wget: www.example.com/A/B So if that URL has links to www.example.com/A/B/C and www.example.com/A/B/D, these two should also be downloaded. But I don't want anything outside the www.example.com/A/B subdomain to be downloaded.   • Is there an ld-linux.so equivalent for mac?

    I'm using the following command on Linux to change the default library path temporarily for the program being run: /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --library-path /home/me/libs./myProgram This runs myProgram and makes it check /home/me/libs first for its dynamically linked libraries. So I want to do this on Mac too.. is there an equivalent? I'd like to avoid setting environment variables if possible.
