• The amount of memory used by each process

  I have a mysql server running debian with 2GO of RAM. I would like to know the amount of memory used by each process. I thought ps -aux was the command and options for it. But I only see 90 MO used by several processes and free -m tells me that 1400 MO are used. Is there a way to have a better view with the processes and the memory used by them ?

  Im trying to locally install a program which is written in C++. I have downloaded the program and am attempting to use the "make" command to compile the program as the programs instructions dictate. However when I do I get this error: /usr/include/stdc-predef.h:30:26: fatal error: bits/predefs.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. Looking around on the internet some people seem to address this problem by sudo apt-get install libc6-dev-i386 I checked to see if this package was installed and it was not. When I try to install it I get E: Unable to locate package libc6-dev-i386 I have already run sudo apt get update Im sure this is a rookie question but any help is appreciated, I'm running 13.10 32-bit.

• SCCM 2012 - Windows 8 WSUS

  We're using SCCM 2012 to deploy Windows Updates on our domain, and our Windows 8 clients have started failing with error 80240438 when they try to update. Windows 7 clients update fine, but Windows 8 clients refuse to do anything. I've done a search online and it seems to only reference Windows InTune. Has anyone seen any similar behavior on Windows 8 machines? If we don't get that error, we're getting 80244021 which seems to indicate that the server can't be found.... but they can resolve it just fine and our exceptions are defined on the proxy too. • Unable to checkout svn repositories

  I have an ubuntu 12.04 machine were apache2 is set up with SSL certificates. In the same machine there is a SVN server. It all worked great till the update to 12.04. Now I'm able to access the svn via a web-browser and also by using an eclipse plugin (subversive), but I'm not able to access the svn via command line. • Upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10 - Apache not able to start

  I updated to Ubuntu 13.10 (from Ubuntu 13.04) last weekend, and now Apache is not being able to start. It was working perfectly well until the upgraded, and I haven't changed anything myself. When I ran a restart this is what I get apache2: Syntax error on line 260 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/conf.d/: No such file or directory So, I created the directory, and then I get this: * Starting web server apache2 * * The apache2 configtest failed. • Getting client denied when accessing a wsgi graphite script

  I'm trying to set up graphite on my Mac OS X 10.7 lion, i've set up apache to call the python graphite script via WSGI, but when i try to access it, i get a forbiden from apache and in the error log. "client denied by server configuration: /opt/graphite/webapp/graphite.wsgi" I've checked that the scripts location is allowed in httpd.conf, and the permissions of the file, but they seem correct. What do i have to do to get access. • Linked server problem on SQL Server 2005

  I have a weird issue and I hope someone can steer me in the right direction for resolving this please. When I execute the following query against a linked server, I get the following error. I can connect to the server in SSMS as a separate server, and execute a similar query against its Deposits table. The nn.nn is my own replacement to avoid broadcasting our server addresses. The query: select td.Batch , td.DateTimeDeposited from Deposits cd left join [172.nn.nn.32\sqlexpress].Terminal.dbo.Deposits td on cd.DateTimeDeposited = td.DateTimeDeposited The error: OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "172.nn.nn.11\sqlexpress" returned message "Login timeout expired". OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "172.nn.nn.11\sqlexpress" returned message "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.". Msg 65535, Level 16, State 1, Line 0 SQL Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF]. Notice how the error is about server 172.nn.nn.11 and not 172.nn.nn.32. SOLVED (STUPID ME): Somebody had added an extra bit to my query that was scrolled off-screen and was querying the 17.nn.nn.11 server.

  To clone a database using Rman we used to require an existing Rman backup, on 11g we can clone databases using the "from active" database option. In this case we do not require an existing backup, the active datafiles will be used as the source for the clone. In order to clone with the source database open it must be on archivelog mode. Otherwise we can make the clone mounting the source database, as shown in this example. • DriveImage XML fails with a Windows Volume Shadow Service Error

  I'm trying to image a SATA laptop hard drive, using DriveImageXML, that is attached to my computer via a USB adapter. I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. DriveXML is returning: Could not initialize Windows Volume Shadow Service (VSS). ERROR C:\Program Files (x86)\Runtime Software\Drivelmage XML\vss64.exe failed to start. ERROR TIMEOUT Make sure VSSVC.EXE is running in your task manager. Click Help for more information. VSSVC.EXE is running in Task Manager, as is VSS64.exe. Looking at the FAQ on the Runtime webpage this turned up: Please verify in Settings-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services that the following services are enabled: MS Software Shadow Copy Provider Volume Shadow Copy Also make sure you are able to stop and start these services. Possible reasons for VSS failures: For VSS to work, at least one volume in your computer must be NTFS. If you use only FAT drives, VSS will not function. The required NTFS volume does not need to be identical with the volume you want to image. You should make sure that VSSVC.EXE is running in your task manager. If the problems persist, registering "oleaut.dll" and "oleaut32.dll" using "regsvr32" might help. Both of those services are running and can be started and stopped without issue. Using "regsvr32" to register ""oleaut32.dll" returns successful, but "oleaut.dll" returns: The module "oleaut.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found. Some other information that might be relevant. Browsing to the drive is successful, but accessing certain folders returns an "access" error. Windows runs a permissions adder that adds the current user profile to the NFTS permissions. Could this be the cause of the issue? DriveImage XML is running as Administrator. Thoughts?

Input file: Hannah Churchman <[email protected]>; Julie Drew <[email protected]>; Output file: Hannah Churchman; Julie Drew; I thought a generic regex shuch as s/<(.*?)//g would be a good starting point but I am unable to find the right expression for use Vim? something like :%s/ <\(.*?\)>//g does not work. Error is "E486: Pattern not found:". :%s#[^ <]*>##g almost works but it leaves the space and < behind. :%s# <##g to remove the " <" remaining stuff. Any tips on how to better craft this command?

You need to run the WLST commands from "oracle_common/common/bin/wlst.sh" (ex: /home/Oracle/Middleware/oracle_common/common/bin/wlst.sh) This is documented in the OWSM doc (Security And Administrator's Guide) under the section "Accessing the Web Services Custom WLST Commands". Note: This location is different from the location from where you run the SOA WLST commands. If you try to run the OWSM WLST command from the wrong location - you will see errors like the following: "The MBean ,@ oracle.wsm:*,name=WSMDocumentManager,type=Repository was not found"

• How to install Juniper VPN on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS?

  Could you please help me ? On my old Ubuntu 13.10 I was able to run Juniper VPN (on Firefox only) using a workaround which requires you to install the missing 32libs and IcedTea (32bits). However, I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 (both 64 bits) and my Juniper VPN does not work anymore because it fails during startup showing the following message: "Please ensure that necessary 32 bit libraries are installed. For more details, refer KB article KB25230" "Setup failed. Please install 32 bit Java and update alternatives links using update-alternatives command. For more details, refer KB article KB25230" For some odd reason, it seems the 14.04 upgrade do not work anymore with the openjdk-7:386 and consequently the Juniper VPN as well. Any ideas ? Thanks

• How to avoid lftp Certificate verification error?

  I'm trying to get my Pelican blog working. It uses lftp to transfer the actual blog to ones server, but I always get an error: mirror: Fatal error: Certificate verification: subjectAltName does not match ‘blogname.com’ I think lftp is checking the SSL and the quick setup of Pelican just forgot to include that I don't have SSL on my FTP. This is the code in Pelican's Makefile: ftp_upload: $(OUTPUTDIR)/index.html lftp ftp://$(FTP_USER)@$(FTP_HOST) -e "mirror -R $(OUTPUTDIR) $(FTP_TARGET_DIR) ; quit" which renders in terminal as: lftp ftp://[email protected] -e "mirror -R /Volumes/HD/Users/me/Test/output /myblog_directory ; quit" What I managed so far is, denying the SSL check by changing the Makefile to: lftp ftp://$(FTP_USER)@$(FTP_HOST) -e "set ftp:ssl-allow no" "mirror -R $(OUTPUTDIR) $(FTP_TARGET_DIR) ; quit" Due to my incorrect implementation I get logged in correctly (lftp [email protected]:~>) but the one line feature doesn't work anymore and I have to enter the mirror command by hand: mirror -R /Volumes/HD/Users/me/Test/output/ /myblog_directory This works without an error and timeout. The question is how to do this with a one liner. In addition I tried: set ssl:verify-certificate/ftp.myblog.com no This trick to disable certificate verification in lftp: $ cat ~/.lftp/rc set ssl:verify-certificate no However, it seems there is no "rc" folder in my lftp directory - so this prompt has no chance to work.

• Making python 3.3 default python 3 interpreter instead of 3.2

  So, to keep it simple. Ubuntu 12.10 has python 3.2 pre installed and it is linked to "python3". I downloaded python 3.3 and it's command is "python3.3". However, I downloaded pySide for python3 from synaptic. Using "from PySide.QtCore import *" fails on python3.3. BUT, when I ran just "python3" (aka 3.2) everything works fine. Synaptic just installed lib for python3.2 which is default for python3 in ubuntu. How can I force synaptic to install modules for python3.3? Thanks

  I've been developing applications in C# / VB.NET for about 3-4 years (.NET Framework v2.0, 3.5, 4). I have also developed some command-line applications or scripts in C, and Python under Linux. Sometimes I need to develop my applications in another languages, like Python, but the problem thing is that lots of those applications require a GUI. Maybe not a too complex one, but it does require some windows with buttons, text boxes, list boxes,... What books/tips/tutorials do you suggest me to start working with that language and be able to deploy my deliverables not only in .NET? Note: Learning python is not the big deal here, because I already know the basic of it. I just want to focus on the GUI. Maybe this question should be on UI instead of here? If so, please, migrate it :)

• How to Find Office 2003 Commands in Office 2010

  Are you new to the ribbon interface in Office 2010?  Here’s how you can get up to speed and learn where everything is quickly and easily. Microsoft has made an interactive guide to Office 2010’s new interface to help users learn their way around the new version.  If you’ve already used Office 2007, then Office 2010 will be very easy to transition to, but if you’re still using Office 2003 you may find the learning curve more steep.  With this interactive guide, upgrading your Office skills doesn’t have to be hard. Learn Your Way Around the Office Ribbon Open the Office 2010 interactive guides site (link below) in your browser, and select the Office app you want to explore. The guides are powered by Silverlight, so if you don’t already have it installed you will be prompted to do so. Once the guide has loaded, click Start to begin. Select any menu or toolbar item in the Office 2003 mockup.  A tooltip will appear to show you how to find this option in Word 2010. If you click the item, the interface will switch to an Office 2010 mockup and will interactively show you how to access this feature.  The Thumbnails view isn’t available by default in Word 2010, so it shows us how to add it to the ribbon.  When you’ve figured this command out, click anywhere to go back to the Office 2003 mockup and find another item. Currently the guides are available for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, but the site says that guides for the other Office apps will be available soon.  Here’s the PowerPoint guide showing where the Rehearse Timings option is in PowerPoint 2010. Install the Interactive Guides to Your Computer You can also install the guides to your computer so you can easily access them even if you’re not online.  Open the guide you want to install, and click the Install button in the top right corner of the guide. Here’s the Interactive Word 2010 guide installed on our computer.  The downloaded version seemed to work faster in our tests, likely because all the content was already saved to the computer.  If you decide you don’t need it any more, click Uninstall in the top right corner. • Task Scheduler not running .bat or .vbs successfully

  Hi there, got this weird problem, which will hopefully have an obvious solution for some enlightened soul: We have several daily tasks we run via a .vbs script on our server (through the Task Scheduler), and for months it has been fine, but recently we've hit a problem. The .vbs script stopped successfully executing... but oddly it worked fine when ran manually! The error given in these circumstances was always "Timeout". We thought we try a little creative thinking, and run the .vbs another way: Via a .bat file. Again we hit weird issues, but with a little more debugging information, this time around. The .bat file is nothing more than... CScript "C:\location\script.vbs" > Log.txt But the Task Scheduler fails with the following error: 0x1: An incorrect function was called or an unknown function was called. The log.txt file says: CScript Error: Initialization of the Windows Script Host failed. (Not enough storage is available to process this command. ) But get this: The .bat file executes perfectly (vbs script and all) if it's executed with a double click! There's only a problem when it's run by Task Scheduler. What the hell? We're running Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and yes, the Task Sheduler's results are the same whether the user is logged in or not. Also, the user that can run the scripts successfully manually, is also the same user that runs the scripts in Task Scheduler. Thanks for any help for this weird problem!
