  • How to add data manually in core data entity

    - by pankaj
Hi I am working on core data for the first time. I have just created an entity and attributes for that entity. I want to add some data inside the entity(u can say i want to add data in a table), earlier i when i was using sqlite, i would add data using terminal. But here in core data i am not able to find a place where i can manually add data. I just want to add data in entity and display it in a UITableView. I have gone through the the documentation of core data but it does not explain how to add data manually although it explains how i can add it programmiticaly but i dont need to do it programically. I want to do it manually. Thanks in advance

  • How to do a natural sort on an NSArray?

    - by Cory Imdieke
I've got an array of objects, and I need them sorted by their "title" key. It's currently working, though it's using an ASCII sort instead of a natural sort. The titles are filenames, so they look like this: file1 file2 file3 ... file10 file11 file12 I'm getting, as you would expect: file1 file10 file11 file12 file2 file3 ... Does anyone know if there is a way built-in to the NSArray sorting functionality to get this natural sorting as opposed to the alphabetical sort? I found some generic algorithms, but I was hoping for something built-in...

  • When is Facebook Connect supposed to call its delegate methods?

    - by RickiG
Hi The Facebook connect code is eluding me a bit. I have no problem doing a login, and a wall post, however, I simply can not figure out how the delegate methods for the FBDialog andFBStreamDialog is supposed to work. - (void)postToWall { FBStreamDialog *dialog = [[[FBStreamDialog alloc] init] autorelease]; dialog.delegate = self; dialog.userMessagePrompt = @"Enter your message:"; dialog.attachment = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"JSONpost code"]; [dialog show]; } I adhere to these protocols in my controller: <FBDialogDelegate, FBSessionDelegate, FBRequestDelegate> I then implement the two methods: - (void) dialogDidCancel:(FBDialog *)dialog { NSLog(@"Failed"); } - (void) dialogDidSucceed:(FBDialog *)dialog { NSLog(@"Success"); } After I tap "publish" and the postToWall methods is done executing the Facebook "pop up" in the UI is empty, except a small "X" in the top right corner and a "F" (facebook logo) in the top left corner. The UI will stay there until I tap the "X", this results in the dialogDidCancel delegate method being called. The post data is showing up on the Facebook page, everything seems to work. Why is thedialogDidSucceedmethod never called? I need this to release my facebook controller and restore the UI back to where the user was before "starting" FB Connect. Thank You:)

  • Can I load multiple UIViewControllers that each kick off their own NSURLConnections?

    - by RexOnRoids
My Rootviewcontroller uses NSURLConnection to get data from a server, and then, based on this data, loads a bunch (like 7) of smaller UIViewControllers that each also use their own NSURLConnection to get some more specific data from the server. But, the problem is, only the RooTViewController is recieving callbacks from: - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)theConnection the other UIViewControllers never get callbacks...

  • renderInContext creating memory that is not promptly released

    - by iworkinprogress
While debugging in instruments using 'ObjectAlloc' I'm noticing 7megs of memory being allocated for the renderInContext call, but it never is released. When I comment out the renderInContext call this doesn't happen, and future renderInContext calls does not continue to increase the memory allotment. UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(contentHolder.bounds.size); [contentHolder.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage *viewImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); Is there a way to force this memory to be released?

  • Anything wrong with this code?

    - by ct2k7
    I am using this to determine which view to go to next, from the result as input from UITableView. The following code isn't working, but I think it should be! Do you see anything wrong with it? NSString *option = [menuArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; if (option == @"New Transaction"){ NTItems *nTItemsController = [[NTItems alloc] initWithNibName:@"NTItems" bundle:nil]; // Pass the selected object to the new view controller. [self.navigationController pushViewController:nTItemsController animated:YES]; [NTItems release];} else if (option == @"Previous Transactions"){} else if (option == @"Reprint a reciept"){} else if (option == @"Settings"){} else if (option == @"Logout"){ LoginViewController *nTItemsController = [[LoginViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LoginViewController" bundle:nil]; // Pass the selected object to the new view controller. [self.navigationController pushViewController:nTItemsController animated:YES]; [LoginViewController release]; }

  • When am I supposed to use UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleSingleLineEtched?

    - by tewha
I see a description of what UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleSingleLineEtched looks like in Apple's Class Reference, and can see it by running the application. But I can't find any mention of when it's appropriate to use UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleSingleLineEtched instead of UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleSingleLine. In other words, what does this etched line mean to the user? Can anyone explain?

  • UISplitViewController Cannot Change the Master View Controller?

    - by Nex
I am trying to change the master view controller (that appears in the popover in portrait, and on the left side in landscape) in a UISplitViewController. I'd like to switch between the master view controller being one of two different UIViewControllers (depending on an action taken elsewhere in my application). I am using the following: mySplitViewController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:newMasterController, detailController, nil]; This correctly changes the master viewcontroller as you would expect in landscape mode. However it does not seem to change the viewcontroller used for the popover in portrait mode. I notice that the barbuttonitem to show this master view controller is just calling showMasterInPopover: on the splitviewcontroller, and so would expect it to work in portrait mode as well, but it does not. In fact, I can set the master view controller, see the new viewController correctly in landscape mode, rotate back to portrait, and the viewcontroller used in the popover is still the old one. Is this a bug?

  • How to not run function if its a mobile device?

    - by Deshiknaves
I have a modal pop up function on my website, but i don't want this to run if the browser is smaller than 480px. I have found that if I put an if statement such as: if (window.innerWidth && window.innerWidth > 480) { run function() } Then it should run only if the browsers innerWidth is 480. However its not working and I think its because I have page scaling on this website. Can any one help me with a conditional statement if page scaling is on? Thanks.

  • UINavigationController (drawRect:)

    - by ludo
Hi, I created an application with a TabBarController, 4 TabBarItems and every TabBarItem have is own NavigationController file (everything created in IB). I'm using the drawRect function to design my navigationBar: @implementation UINavigationBar (customImage) -(void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"MyImage.png"]; [image drawInRect:CGRectMake(0,0, self.frame.size.width,self.frame.size.height)]; } @end The problem is that the NavigationBar change for every ViewController inside my app, what I want is only draw the NavigationBar for one TabBarItem only and use the default navigationBar for other controller. How to do that? Thanks,

  • deselectRowAtIndexPath on an ABPeoplePickerNavigationController

    - by Josh Wright
I'm showing an ABPeoplePickerNavigationController as a tab in my app. The user clicks a name, then email address, then I do something with the email address. Afterwards, I'd like for the person and property that they selected to fade out (not be highlighted). In a normal table, I'd call deselectRowAtIndexPath. But with the ABPeoplePickerNavCont I don't seem to have access to it's table, nor do I know what indexPath is selected, nor is there an api for deselecting the row. On most apps, ABPeoplePickerNavCont is used modally so it doesn't matter that the row is still highlighted 'cause the whole thing gets dismissed. But in my app it does not get dismissed (just like the contacts tab in the Phone app). Any ideas?

  • Custom cell just failing

    - by ct2k7
Hi, I'm trying to use a custom UITableViewCell, and I've placed it in the same nib file as the UITableView controller. For this, the files are: NTItems.h, NTItems.m and NTItems.xib. I have defined the cell in the header file: IBOutlet UITableViewCell *cellview; and I've correctly applied the property: nonatomic, retain so it's there. In the m file - I've synthesized the variable device and am using this to get the custom cell: if(cell == nil){ cell = self.cellview; } However, when I load the table, I get this horrible mess: There should be more than 1 cell showing data as well. On another note, how do I map the labels to the text which is to be displayed?

  • Problem with entityForName & ManagedObjectContext when extending tutorial material

    - by Martin KS
Afternoon all, I tried to add a second data entity to the persistent store in the (locations) coredata tutorial code, and then access this in a new view. I think that I've followed the tutorial, and checked that I'm doing a clean build etc, but can't see what to change to prevent it crashing. I'm afraid I'm at my wits end with this one, and can't seem to find the step that I've missed. I've pasted the header and code files below, please let me know if I need to share any more of the code. The crash seems to happen on the line: NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Album" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]; There is one other line in the code that refers to galleryviewcontroller at the moment, and that's in the main application delegate: galleryViewController.managedObjectContext = [self managedObjectContext]; GalleryViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface GalleryViewController : UIViewController { NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; int rowNumber; IBOutlet UILabel *lblMessage; UIBarButtonItem *addButton; NSMutableArray *imagesArray; } @property (readwrite) int rowNumber; @property (nonatomic, retain) UILabel *lblMessage; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *imagesArray; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIBarButtonItem *addButton; -(void)updateRowNumber:(int)theIndex; -(void)addImage; @end GalleryViewController.m #import "RootViewController.h" #import "LocationsAppDelegate.h" #import "Album.h" #import "GalleryViewController.h" #import "Image.h" @implementation GalleryViewController @synthesize lblMessage, rowNumber, addButton, managedObjectContext; @synthesize imagesArray; /* // The designated initializer. Override if you create the controller programmatically and want to perform customization that is not appropriate for viewDidLoad. - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { if ((self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil])) { // Custom initialization } return self; } */ -(void)updateRowNumber:(int)theIndex{ rowNumber=theIndex; LocationsAppDelegate *mainDelegate =(LocationsAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Album *anAlbum = [mainDelegate.albumsArray objectAtIndex:rowNumber]; lblMessage.text = anAlbum.uniqueAlbumIdentifier; } // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; addButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemAdd target:self action:@selector(addImage)]; addButton.enabled = YES; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = addButton; /* Found this in another answer, adding it to the code didn't help. if (managedObjectContext == nil) { managedObjectContext = [[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] managedObjectContext]; } */ NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Album" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]; [request setEntity:entity]; // Order the albums by creation date, most recent first. NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"imagePath" ascending:NO]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; // Execute the fetch -- create a mutable copy of the result. NSError *error = nil; NSMutableArray *mutableFetchResults = [[managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:request error:&error] mutableCopy]; if (mutableFetchResults == nil) { // Handle the error. } [self setImagesArray:mutableFetchResults]; int a = 5; int b = 10; for( int i=0; i<[imagesArray count]; i++ ) { if( a == 325 ) { a = 5; b += 70; } UIImageView *any = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(a,b,70,60)]; any.image = [imagesArray objectAtIndex:i]; any.tag = i; [self.view addSubview:any]; [any release]; a += 80; } } -(void)addImage{ NSString *msg = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",rowNumber]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Add image to" message:msg delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"No" otherButtonTitles:@"Yes", nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. • Objective C: CoreData and aggregation

    - by Ralf
Given a CoreData-Entity with an date (days) and an ammount called Transaction. Is it with CoreData possible (and how) to aggregate/group the 'table' (with all Transactions) by Date and calculate the sum of the day in a second column/attribute? (the SQL-Solution would be SELECT date, sum(ammount) FROM transaction GROUP BY date)
