Right to Left UI in iPhone (Hebrew)

Hello, I'm struggling in creating a RTL UI in iPhone application. The framework doesn't seem to have any support for RTL languages. The only thing is the alignment inside labels, which is nice, but it conflicts with other controls behaviour. The question is: Is there a working code for a RTL TableView? Something that would handle the disclosure buttons to be on the left, section titles to be right aligned, index view to be left aligned? As far as I understand I cannot move the index view of the tableview, i have to overlay some custom control... Any suggestions/pointers/examples? p.s. this is not a duplication of this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1677988/right-to-left-alignment-for-uitableview since what I am looking for is a deeper customization, not just a new type of CellView. (Update: Mar 10) For now - I've removed support for indexView from the tableView at all, implemented the cells as custom views by myself (with disclosure buttons on the left), and customized the header/footer of the table as well. the only thing that is left is the Index View. How to load static files from view HTML in web2py?

Implementing Struts 2 Interceptors using Struts 1

Hello all, I have a legacy application written with Struts 1. The only feature I was asked to add is to protect some actions. Currently any user can do whatever he/she wants. The idea is to allows all user see the data, but block modification operation, i.e. to modify data a user should log in. I know Struts2 has interceptors, so I could attach them to required actions and forward users to log in page when needed. But how can I do similar thing in Struts 1 application? My first idea was to create my own abstract Action class: public class AuthenticatedAction { public ActionForward execute( ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form, HttpServletRequest theRequest, HttpServletResponse theResponse) { if (!logged) { // forward to log in form } else { doExecute(mapping, form, request, response); } } public abstract ActionForward doExecute( ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form, HttpServletRequest theRequest, HttpServletResponse theResponse); } Then change all actions that require authentication from extends Action to extends AuthenticatedAction then add login form, login action (which performs authentications and puts this status into the session) and change JSP header tile to display authentication block, e.g., "You are (not logged in)/", Login/Logout. As I guess this should solve the problem. If this doesn't solve the problem, please explain me why. Is there any better (more elegant like interceptors are) way to do this? Thank you in advance.

ajax call to servlet puzzler

Greetings! I'm having a problem getting a text value of a captcha from a servlet through ajax call. When my captcha gets created, its text value is written to session, but after refreshing the image itself though ajax call, I only get one old value of the text. Refreshing the image itself works ok, but I'm stuck getting the correct values from the session on subsequent call. On page reload I get both the new image and its new text value, no joy with ajax though. Some general C questions.

Hello. I am trying to fully understand the process pro writing code in some language to execution by OS. In my case, the language would be C and the OS would be Windows. So far, I read many different articles, but I am not sure, whether I understand the process right, and I would like to ask you if you know some good articles on some subjects I couldn´t find. So, what I think I know about C (and basically other languages): C compiler itself handles only data types, basic math operations, pointers operations, and work with functions. By work with functions I mean how to pass argument to it, and how to get output from function. During compilation, function call is replaced by passing arguments to stack, and than if function is not inline, its call is replaced by some symbol for linker. Linker than find the function definition, and replace the symbol to jump adress to that function (and of course than jump back to program). If the above is generally true and I get it right, where to final .exe file actually linker saves the functions? After the main() function? And what creates the .exe header? Compiler or Linker? Now, additional capabilities of C, today known as C standart library is set of functions and the declarations of them, that other programmers wrote to extend and simplify use of C language. But these functions like printf() were (or could be?) written in different language, or assembler. And there comes my next question, can be, for example printf() function be written in pure C without use of assembler? I know this is quite big question, but I just mostly want to know, wheather I am right or not. And trust me, I read a lots of articles on the web, and I would not ask you, If I could find these infromation together on one place, in one article. Insted I must piece by piece gather informations, so I am not sure if I am right. Thanks.

How do I use a different image for each JQuery UI Slider handle

I'm using a JQuery UI slider which has two handles (a.k.a range slider). I know how to style the first handle: .ui-slider-horizontal .ui-slider-handle {background: white url(http://stackoverflow.com/content/img/so/vote-arrow-down.png) no-repeat scroll 50% 50%;} But how do I style the second handle differently? Using Firebug I can see Jquery does not uniquely identify each handle: <div id="hourlyRateSlider" class="ui-slider ui-slider-horizontal ui-widget ui-widget-content ui-corner-all"> <div class="ui-slider-range ui-widget-header" style="left: 26%; width: 46%;"/> <a class="ui-slider-handle ui-state-default ui-corner-all" href="#" style="left: 26%;"/> <a class="ui-slider-handle ui-state-default ui-corner-all" href="#" style="left: 72%;"/> </div> So I imagine I have to use either a CSS child selector which could be cross-browser problematic. Or I could use some JQuery trickery to add a CSS class to the second handle? Anyone done this in a neat way before?

I'm writing a PHP extension similar to V8JS. The goal, like V8JS, is to embed the V8 engine into PHP so I can execute sandboxed JavaScript code in PHP. (The implementation is different.) How do I compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC with IIS 7.5

I'm having difficulty making IIS 7 correctly compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC. I've enabled static and dynamic compression in IIS. I can verify with Fiddler that normal text/html and similar records are compressed. Viewing the request, the accept-encoding gzip header is present. The response has the mimetype "application/json", but is not compressed. I've identified that the issue appears to relate to the MimeType. When I include mimeType="*/*", I can see that the response is correctly gzipped. How can I get IIS to compress WITHOUT using a wildcard mimeType? I assume that this issue has something to do with the way that ASP.NET MVC generates content type headers. The CPU usage is well below the dynamic throttling threshold. Problem using Hibernate Projections

Hello! I'm using Richfaces + HibernateQuery to create a data list. I'm trying to use Hibernate Projections to group my query result. Here is the code: final DetachedCriteria criteria = DetachedCriteria .forClass(Class.class, "c") .setProjection(Projections.projectionList() .add(Projections.groupProperty("c.id"))); ... in the .xhtml file i have the following code: <rich:dataTable width="100%" id="dataTable" value="#{myBean.dataModel}" var="row"> <f:facet name="header"> <rich:columnGroup> ...... </rich:columnGroup> </f:facet> <h:column> <h:outputText value="#{row.id}"/> </h:column> <h:column> <h:outputText value="#{row.name}"/> </h:column> But when i run the page it gives me the following error: Error: value="#{row.id}": The class 'java.lang.Long' does not have the property 'id'. If i take out the Projection from the code it works correctly, but it doesn't group the result. So, which mistake could be happening here? Problem with MessageContract, Generic return types and clientside naming

I'm building a web service which uses MessageContracts, because I want to add custom fields to my SOAP header. In a previous topic, I learned that a composite response has to be wrapped. For this purpose, I devised a generic ResponseWrapper class. CCLabelAtlas setString doesn't update label

Hello! I have a CCLabelAtlas that I have on a layer to display the current score within my game...the problem that I am having with it is that it does not update when I use [scoreLabel setString:]. Here's how I have it laid out: In the header: @interface GameScene : CCLayer { ... CCLabelAtlas* scoreLabel; } And in the init: scoreLabel = [[CCLabelAtlas alloc] initWithString:@"0" charMapFile:@"scoreCharMap.png" itemWidth:6 itemHeight:8 startCharMap:'.']; [scoreLabel setPosition:ccp(105, 414)]; [self addChild:scoreLabel z: 6]; scoreCharMap.png is a custom map that includes ./0123456789 of my desired font. When the score is changed, I attempt to do this to get the label to update with the current score: NSString* str = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%d", [[GameRunner sharedInstance] currentScore]]; [scoreLabel setString: str]; [str release]; [scoreLabel draw]; Problem is that it doesn't ever update - it just sits there and displays 0. I know for a fact due to breakpoints and debugging that setString is being called, and that the string that it should be displaying is correct - but it just doesn't update. Hard-coding the value and saying [scoreLabel setString:@"1234"] does nothing, either. What am I doing wrong here? I am using Cocos2d 0.99 - thanks in advance!

UpdatePanel not refreshing in Accordion

Hi, I'm using MS AJAX's accordion control. It works fine normally, but I can't seem to get it to work with an UpdatePanel. The buttons within the repeater cause a postback, but changes cannot be seen unless the page is manually refreshed (since the updatepanel doesn't refresh) </ContentTemplate> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnToggle" EventName="click" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnAdd" EventName="click" /> //this button is outside the updatepanel </ContentTemplate> </Triggers> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> <div><a href="#">Header 2 </a></div> <div class="acc_content"> Content of the second pane </div> </div> There are postbacks occurring when I click the buttons, but the updatepanel never refreshes or updated. I tried adding UpdatePanel1.Update() in the code-behind for each postback event, but no luck. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks

You'll need that for the next step. WCF Custom Delegation/Authentication without Kerberos

I'm building a simple WCF service, probably exposed via HTTPS, using NTLM security. Since not all users are going to be capable of using the service directly, we're writing a simple web front-end for the service. Users will auth with HTML to the web front-end. What we want is a way to delegate the user of the web site all the way to the WCF service. I understand Kerberos delegation can do this, but that's not available to us. What I want to do is make the web front-end account a specially trusted account, so that if a request hits the WCF service authenticated as "DOMAIN\WebApp", we read a WCF message header containing the real identity, then switch the principal to that and continue as normal. Is there any "simple" way of achieving this? Should I give up entirely on this idea, and instead make users "sign-in" to the WCF app and then do complete custom auth? The WCF extensibility and security options seem so vast, I'd like to get a heads up on which path to start heading down.

How can I work around "Xcode could not locate source file"

Hello, I'm working with the ID3 framework in Xcode (which has since disappeared off the face of the web - including google cache!). I'm testing out an import mp3 feature which allows them to edit the tags as they import them. One of the test cases is a corrupt or invalid mp3 with no proper id3 header. The problem I'm having is that when updating the tags of the invalid mp3 (updateFile:), the ID3 framework attempts to use id3V1Tag.m (I assume it falls back to this if it can't find the v2 tag) and this is where I get the Xcode error (whilst running the program, not building): Xcode could not locate source file: id3V1Tag.m (line: 299) Even in a release build this crashes the program, so it's not something I can really ignore. I've tried putting a try/catch block around it but it's not treated as an exception so doesn't get caught. The function to load the tag data for the file returns a BOOL but it appears this only returns false if the given file doesn't exist, so this doesn't help either. WPF - expander Collapsed event being triggered by child controls with validation

I have an expander that contains an ItemsControl. The items in the itemsControl are templated, some have textboxes in them, others have checkboxes. Both have bindings that cause validation. The styling and validation is working as expected. The problem is when I first expand the expander and cause a change to either control, the expander collapses again, this is not what I want. If I repeat this a second time this does not happen. I'm not sure what is triggering this strange behaviour. I've tried setting the focus to the itemsControl when the expander expands with no luck. What is differnt the second time it's expanded? Could it be the validation? Any Ideas? extract specific element from nested elements using lxml html

Hi all I am having some problems that I think can be attributed to xpath problems. I am using the html module from the lxml package to try and get at some data. I am providing the most simplified situation below, but keep in mind the html I am working with is much uglier. <table> <tr> <td> <table> <tr><td></td></tr> <tr><td> <table> <tr><td><u><b>Header1</b></u></td></tr> <tr><td>Data</td></tr> </table> </td></tr> </table> </td></tr> </table> What I really want is the deeply nested table, because it has the header text "Header1". I am trying like so: from lxml import html page = '...' tree = html.fromstring(page) print tree.xpath('//table[//*[contains(text(), "Header1")]]') but that gives me all of the table elements. I just want the one table that contains this text. I understand what is going on but am having a hard time figuring out how to do this besides breaking out some nasty regex. Any thoughts?

How to get all active parameters in ASP.NET MVC (2)

Hi! I was wondering whether there is a way to create an ActionLink or similar, that changes only a few parameters of the actual query, and keeps all the other parameters intact. For example if I'm on an URL like http://example.com/Posts/Index?Page=5&OrderBy=Name&OrderDesc=True I want to change only the Page, or OrderBy parameter and keep all other parameters the same, even those I don't yet know of (like when I want to add a Search parameter or something similar too). The header of my current action looks like this: public ActionResult Index(int? Page, string OrderBy, bool? Desc) and I'm only interested in the values that this controller "eats". I want however that when I extend this action (for example with a string Search parameter) the links should work the same way as before. Here is what I did already: Create a new RouteValueDictionary and fill it with everything from RouteData.Values Problem: This only fills the parameters that are used in the Routing, so all other optional parameters (like Page) to the controller are lost Add everything from HttpContext.Request.QueryString to the previous dictionary This is what I am currently using Problem: It might have some junk stuff, that the Controller didn`t ask for, and it doesn't work if the page was loaded using POST. You also don't have any ModelBindings (but this isn't much of a problem, because we are re-sending everything anyway) Use HttpContext.Request.Params Problem: this has too much junk data which imho one shouldn't add to a RouteValueDictionary that is passed to an ActionLink So the questions: Is there an RVD that has all the data that was passed to the Controller and was used by it? Is this solution good, or are there any caveats I didn't think about (mainly in the context of changing a few query parameters while keeping the others intact)? Is there a way to filter out the "junk" data from the Params object?
