• What does Rails script/server -d do differently that would cause a cells template to not be found

  I'm using cells. I used the generator to create a cell so the path to my template was automatically chosen to be app/cells/displayer/table.html.erb where displayer is the name of the cell and table is the name of the state. When I run script/server in the foreground, everything works perfectly. But when I run script/server -d, I get "Missing template displayer/table.erb in view path app/cells:app/cells/layouts". Even if I change table.html.erb to table.erb, I see the same message - the ActionView code is checking both but not finding either. Even if you're not familiar with cells, does anyone know what happens differently in daemon mode related to view paths? In this case, it appears that the plugin is not correctly registering the view path.

  I have wpf datagrid with number of template columns. some of them have textbox in them in edit mode and some combobox. i need to give cut/copy/paste facility to user from main menu (ribbon) buttons of my application. when i select some text from textbox and press copy button from main menu. copy button becomes active control so i loose textbox as active control by which i could get selected text. (any solution for this) and second thing i wanted to ask... is there any event get fired when we select textbox's contents? or solution would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

• Monitoring the status of accounts with IT Service providers (ISP, Domain Registrar etc.)

  Hi All, Short version: You have software that tells you when your servers power-outlet is down. It monitors multiple servers from one management console, alerts you when something is wrong etc. Does anyone know of software that will let me take the same approach to monitor if the money-outlet (the bill!) is down (not paid) to my IT Services providers (ISP, Domain Registrar, MX Backup service etc). I need a top down, centrally managed service that is capable of sending out alerts. Just like the one that monitors my own exchange server etc. I don't mind if i have to manually enter every payment. Long version: Our very likable but absent minded bookkeeper keeps neglecting to pay our IT vendors on time. Just this past week our internet service was disconnected. Same could happen to many other mission critical accounts (domain registrar, backup MX, anti-virus license, HackerSafe (McAfee secure) service and even an 800 number to name a few). As the sysadmin, i monitor my severs to make sure they are plugged into the power-outlet. I believe i should also monitor my services to make sure they are plugged in to their money-outlet. To compound the problem, when the power goes out someone else will likely notice and notify me. But if a bill is not payed, no one will ever notice until service is lost. Lost as in losing our domain name which would cause a lot more damage then the power failing on our server. [Solution] = [Doesn't work because]: Retrain the bookkeeper = Wishful thinking. Notify my manager = Already have (via email). Protects me, does not solve problem. Fire bookkeeper = What makes you so sure the next one will never forget? Bottom line: Humans are humans and sooner or later something critical will be royally messed up. We need to partner with a machine to help us out here. Anybody have the same problem? What software/solution do you use? I would like software that emails me when a bill is passed due just like i get an email when the power outlet fails. Anyone hear of anything like that? Thanks

  I'm porting a game for Symbian which supports both a touch & non-touch UI. I need to be able to tell if the device has a touch screen on start-up so I can enable the appropriate mode. After googling for hours and going though the Qt Docs I found QSysInfo but this merely provides the version of the Symbian device. Is there a way to get the actual capabilities of the device? There must be a way to tell if the device has a touch screen...! I'm using the latest QtCreator with the NokiaSDK. Thank you in advance, Nikos.

• ASP.Net: Finding the cause of OutOfMemoryExpcetions

  I trying to track down the cause of an OutOfMemory for a website. This site has ~12,000 .aspx pages and the last time it crashed I captured a memory dump using adplus. After some investigation I found a lot of heap fragmentation, there are around 100MB of Free blocks which can't be assigned. Digging deeper one of the Large Object Heaps is fragmented and the causes seems to be String interning as described [here][1] Could this be caused by the number of pages in the site? As they are all compiled they sit in memory and by looking at the dump they are interned and PINNED which I think means they stick around for a while. I would find this odd as there are many sites with more pages, but dynamic compilation could account for the growth in memory. What other methods are there for finding the cause of the memory leak? • PayPal testing without using Sandbox

  I am developing a website in PHP that accepts PayPal payments. It uses the IPN from PayPal and has a custom payment template etc etc. It all works great through the Sandbox server but when it comes to showing my client, I don't want to have to tell them to login to/create a Sandbox account, create a buyer account and make a payment - he hasn't got time for that and probably won't be able to do it. Therefore, my question is - is there any simple way that I can show my client the PayPal integration in "test mode" without him using the sandbox? I realise that I can set the transaction value to 0.01 and just test on the live PayPal server but that isn't an ideal solution. Cheers! Edit: Just to better explain what I mean, this is what my client sees when he first goes to checkout; As you can see, he has to login to his Sandbox account before then purchasing the item using the buyer email that he sets up. It's just confusing and totally non user-friendly.

• Unable to view GWT 2.0.1 application in IE8.

  Hi, I'm creating an application using GWT 2.0.1; it complies 6 computations and runs well in all browsers except IE8, it shows a blank page( but can be viewed in IE8 compatibility mode) . When I add the line in my gwt.xml <set-property name="user.agent" value="ie8" / > it compiles just 1 permutation and the application displays fine in IE8. However if I add the line lt;set-property name="user.agent" value="ie8,gecko,gecko1_8,safari,opera" /gt; it compiles all permutations, but the application still cannot be viewed in IE8 but runs properly in all other browsers. Is there any other method to ensure my application will run in all browsers ?

  I successfully implemented an application that works on ipad as well as on iphone. In that I provided option to user to send the screen shot of the application as mail attachment. Even that is functioning well. But my code is taking screen shot irrespective of orientation. The image i'm getting is always in portrait mode. I want to take the screen shot depending on the orientation of ipad/iphone and send the image as attachment. I'm using following code to take the screen shot. • PHP - Plesk - Cron - Allowed memory size exhausted?

  ini_set('max_execution_time',0); ini_set('memory_limit','1000M'); These are the first two lines at the very top of my script. I was under the impression if I ran something via cron memory limits didn't apply, but I was wrong. Safe mode is off and when I test to see if these values are being set they are but I keep getting the good ol' "PHP Fatal: Memory exhausted" error. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? And whats the "more elegant way" of writing "infinite" for the "memory limit" value is it -1 or something?

  I can perfectly call a WCF web method from localhost. The problem is when a try to access it from another computer. I get the 405: Method Not Allowed. But It doest make sense because It works fine when i access it remotely from the publisher computer as I said. Any idea? • textures and vertex arrays with OpenGL?

  Basically what I'd like to do is make textured NGONS. I also want to use a tesselator (GLU) to make concave and multicontour objects. I was wondering how the texture comes into play though. I think that the tesselator will return verticies so I will add these to my array, that's fine. But my vertex array will contain more than one polygon object so then how can I tell it when to bind the texture like in immediate mode? Right now I feel stuck with one call to bind. How can this be done? Thanks

• Visual Studio Add-in - How do I create an Installer?

  I have made a Visual Studio Add-in as part of a project I'm working on using web services. When I created the new Add-in project in visual studio it generated all the code required and installed the blank add-in on my pc (I assume). Since this is a large project we are using svn to manage the code base and once I had done some of the work on the Add-in I commited it, then checked it out on a different pc and attempted to run it. However on the other pc when I run the add-in in debug mode, the tools entry for the add-in is not present and I can't run the add-in. Am I right in assuming that when I created the project on the other pc it installed the plugin aswell?? and does that mean that I will need to create an installer for any other pcs I wish to use? Obviously at some point I intend on making an installer anyway but not untill after the development of the addin is complete.

  Hi all, I am trying to write a praat script to do preprocessing on hundreds of speach samples. I need to extract speech features from each sample and feed these as imputs into a feed-forward neural network. I have already constructed the network using math-lab. However, learing to script in praat is proving to be quite a challenge given my time constraints. Some of my samples are 0.01 to 0.03 seconds in length, I was looking at standardising the duration for all samples using Pitch Synchronous OverLap-Add(PSOLA). However this will be very tedious if I were to do this for every sample. Is there any script that can read in all of my files and perform the operations in a batch mode? Any guidance will be surelly appreaciated. Regards.

• How to disable JSR-303 Hibernate Validation in Spring3

  After putting hibernate-validator.jar and javax.validation-api.jar in my classpath the org.springframework.dao.DataIntegrityViolationException is replaced by org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException and this is causing a lot of issues. I have to put this two jars to be able to upgrade Jersey to 2.4, it has dependency on these two jars. Putting these properties into hibernate.properties file doesn't help, hibernate simply ignores them but it loads the properties on start-up loaded properties from resource hibernate.properties: {hibernate.validator.apply_to_ddl=false,hibernate.validator.autoregister_listeners=false etc} javax.persistence.validation.mode=none hibernate.validator.autoregister_listeners=false hibernate.validator.apply_to_ddl=false I am using Spring 3.2.4 with SessionFactory and mapping resources from hbm.xml files with constraints in it, hibernate 3.6.9.final, hibernate-validator 5.0.final, javax.validator-api 1.1.0.Final I just can't figure out how to disable hibernate validation, any help will be much appreciated.

• IIS 6 session timing out a lot quicker than expected

  I am working with an web application that has its sessions timing out a lot quicker than expected. We expected a timeout of 15 minutes but it's timing out at 3-4 minutes. Info about environment: IIS6 classic ASP / COM+ app timeout OK on current PROD, much quicker in dev / QA environments We already disabled app pool recycling, and even put IIS in isolation mode - no effect HTTP err log doesn't display any lines when session times out We've done a close comparison of PROD and DEV / QA environments, and given we use virtual machines on all of them, settings should be preserved. I tried to find IIS blog notes from David Wang but many of them now have HTTP 404 errors, and I don't know what else to do. Please help! At the very least, is there a way to get IIS to log every time a session expires? At the very least some means of logging / debugging IIS would be useful. Thanks in advance.

  When using the programmers text editor vi, I'll often using a wildcard search to be lazy about the file I want to edit vi ThisIsAReallLongFi*.txt When this matches a single file it works great. However, if it matches multiple files vi does something weird. First, it opens the first file for editing Second, when I :wq out of the file, I get a message the bottom of the terminal that looks like this E173: 4 more files to edit Hit ENTER or type command to continue When I hit enter, it returns me to edit mode in the file I was just in. The behavior I'd expect here would be that vi would move on to the next file to edit. So, What's the logic behind vi's behavior here Is there a way to move on and edit the next file that's been matched? And yes, I know about tab completion, this question is based on curiosity and wanting to understand the shell better.

• Pressing "Home" in Vim on an Indented Line

  I have a bad habit of using the 'home' key to go back to the beginning of a line. As I recently started using vim (and loving it!) I noticed that when I press the home key on a lined that is indented, it returns me to the very beginning of the line. In Notepad++ (the editor I used to use) it would return me to the beginning of the code on that line, right after the indent. Is there some way to replicate this behavior in vim? Usually, when I'm pressing home it's in the Insert mode for me to (usually) stick a variable there. I have set smartindent in my vimrc, with set noautoindent as a "tips" page told me to make sure to disable autoindent (although it didn't seem to be enabled in the first place - perhaps that option is extraneous.) This is required because the GroupPrototypeSlotControl has a GroupPrototypeViewModel as its DataContext. If I simply use {Binding SelectedSlot}, it attempts to resolve it on the 'child' ViewModel, which fails. I get around this by explicitly looking at the DataContext of my parent control. Is there a cleaner way to do this type of binding?

• Suggestions for splitting server roles amongst Hyper-V virtual servers / RAID6 or RAID10? / AppAssure

  We have 2 Hyper-V hosts at present running 1 virtual server that was converted from a physical box running all roles. My plan is to split the roles over various virtual machines, upgrading to the latest software versions as I go, and use the backup server as a standby in case the main server fails. AppAssure backup software has a feature called Virtual Standby, so the VHD's can be ready to be fired up on the backup server if necessary. Off-site backups will be done via external USB drive for now. I'm just seeking some input/suggestions into how I'm planning to split the roles out amongst various virtual servers. Also, I'm curious how to setup the storage on the servers. We do not have any NAS's, SAN'S or any budget for this. What would the best RAID level be to use? I'm thinking either RAID6 (which is currently used) however I'm concerned about the write speeds, or RAID10 but again I'm worried that I can only lose 1 drive (from the same mirror) as opposed to any 2 with RAID6. I realise I have a hot swap for this, but what if a further drive fails during a rebuild? Is the write penalty of RAID6 worth the extra reliability over RAID10? Or will it be too slow with all the roles I am planning, therefore RAID10 is my only real option? The reason for the needed redundancy is I am the only technician and I'm not always on-site. Options I've considered: 1) 5 drives in RAID6 set, 200gb for host OS, rest for VM storage. 1 drive for hot swap - this is how it is currently setup 2) 4 drives in RAID10 set, 200gb for host OS, rest for VM storage. 2 drives for hot swap 3) 4 drives in RAID10 set for VM storage, 2 drives in RAID1 set for host OS.
