FreeType2 Bitmap to System::Drawing::Bitmap.

Hi, I'm trying to convert a FreeType2 bitmap to a System::Drawing::Bitmap in C++/CLI. FT_Bitmap has a unsigned char* buffer that contains the data to write. I have got somewhat working save it disk as a *.tga, but when saving as *.bmp it renders incorrectly. I believe that the size of byte[] is incorrect and that my data is truncated. Any hints/tips/ideas on what is going on here would be greatly appreciated. Links to articles explaining byte layout and pixel formats etc. would be helpful. Thanks!! C++/CLI code. Alternative to Turbo C

My university is hosting a Programming Competition, and have decided to support Turbo C (the 16-bit DOS version) as a valid programming environment. I have just read that PC^2, the software that is going to be used to auto-judge the competition, does not support 16-bit programs. So, is there any alternative to Turbo C that I can use. I need the same header files, and the compiler would need to support all the outdated C standards that Turbo C supports. But the output needs to be 32-bit. Is there any compiler that can satisfy these conditions?

Python and Postgresql

Hi all, if you wanted to manipulate the data in a table in a postgresql database using some python (maybe running a little analysis on the result set using scipy) and then wanted to export that data back into another table in the same database, how would you go about the implementation? Is the only/best way to do this to simply run the query, have python store it in an array, manipulate the array in python and then run another sql statement to output to the database? I'm really just asking, is there a more efficient way to deal with the data? Thanks, Ian

Build Issue with multi module project

Hi, I have a multi module web project. Four modules of the project are packaged as jar and added as dependency to the fifth module, which is packaged as war. When it is time to deploy the application i just run package on the war project and my war is created with all the dependencies. Now there is a problem. One of the my module have heavy changes. Now when i created war for my projects these changes was not reflected in the output war file(the jar in lib folder of war has still the old code). Can you please point the things i am missing from the release process? Why the old code is being packaged with the war? The only issue I have is once i established a "Data connection"..how can I use those args for queries and searches. Is it possible to create a quine in every turing-complete language?

I just wanted to know if it is 100% possible, if my language is turing-complete, to write a program in it that prints itself out (of course not using a file reading function) So if the language just has the really necessary things in order to make it turing complete (I would prove that by translating Brainf*ck code to it), like output, variables, conditions and gotos (hell yes, gotos), can I try writing a quine in it? I'm also asking this because I'm not sure that a quine directly fits into Turing's law that the turing machine is capable of any computational task. I just want to know so I don't try for years without knowing that it may be impossible.

Executing commands containing space in bash

I have a file named cmd that contains a list of unix commands as follows: hostname pwd ls /tmp cat /etc/hostname ls -la ps -ef | grep java cat cmd I have another script that executes the commands in cmd as: IFS=$'\n' clear for cmds in `cat cmd` do if [ $cmds ] ; then $cmds; echo "****************************"; fi done The problem is that commands in cmd without spaces run fine, but those with spaces are not correctly interpreted by the script. Debugging ASP.NET Strings Downloaded to Browser

I'm downloading a vCard to the browser using Response.Write to output .NET strings with special accented characters. Mime type is text/x-vcard and French characters are appearing wrong in Outlook, for example Montréal;Québec .NET string shows as MontrÃ©al QuÃ©bec in browser. I'm using this vCard code from CodeProject.com I've played with the System.Encoding sample code at the bottom of this linked MSDN page to convert the unicode string into bytes and then write the ascii bytes but then I get Montr?al Qu?bec (progress but not a win). Also I've tried setting content type to both us-ascii and utf-8 of the response. Apparently the vcard file downloads as unicode. If I save it as ASCII text and open in Outlook it's okay. So my assumption is I need to cause download of ASCII but am unsure if I'm doing it wrong or have a misunderstanding of where to start.

How to disable localization of errors in Visual Studio?

I use Visual Studio 2008 and it really makes me crazy how it shows error messages (in Error List window, Output window - especially exceptions) partially in English and partially in my native language. Interestingly, it is worse in WPF than in WinForms project. I've read here that it is about Culture of the running thread (so that the problem is in a settings for .NET). Why am I solving it? It's simple because if I run into an error message and I don't know what it exactly mean or how to fix the problem then trying to google the problem in any other language than in English is very problematic. For example, it would be useful to set English for debugging purposes. How to solve the problem? Thanks for any suggestion!

Change Cursor for Netbeans on Linux

Hi, I am recently have been successfully installed NetBean 6.8 on Ubuntu Box (10.04). But the problem is, NetBeans doesn't use the Gnome mouse Cursor by default. instead, It uses some freak mouse cursor that I hate! So, do you have any idea about how to change the cursor that appears inside netbeans.(I have looked inside tools options but without any output) Also I have did: $ grep -iR cursor * Binary file var/cache/all-resources.dat matches Binary file var/cache/all-layers.dat matches Binary file var/cache/index/s2/javascript/8/1/_0.cfs matches (note, I didn't talked here about how to change the cursor inside some Java program written in NetBeans) Thanks in advance.

How to troubleshoot deallocation of object in uitableview?

I have a table view with tall cells. About 300 in height. The cells are custom and have an associated nib. In cellForRowAtIndexPath, I access an object in an array using indexPath.row. The object has properties, which I assign to labels on the custom cell. This works fine for the first two cells. Once I scroll enough for the third cell to get created, the app crashes. Apache ErrorDocument not working for PHP 500 error

I have a number of ErrorDocuments setup in my .htaccess file for errors such as 404, 401, 403 etc which all redirect to my error page but the ErrorDocument set for a 500 error is never displayed when PHP reports a 500. The 500 code is sent to the browser and the output is blank. Is there something special I need to do to enable 500 error documents for use with PHP? My directives look like this: ErrorDocument 401 /errorpage.php?error=401 ErrorDocument 403 /errorpage.php?error=403 ErrorDocument 404 /errorpage.php?error=404 ErrorDocument 500 /errorpage.php?error=500 I've looked through the php.ini and can't see anything that would obviously override the Apache settings and there are no ErrorDocument directives in my httpd.conf either. Anywhere else I should be looking? Thanks in advance.

I have an array whose elements are name, reversed_name, first_initial and second_initial. A typical row is "Aaron Smith", "Smith, Aaron", "a", "s". Each row in the array has a first_initial or second_initial value of "a". I need to display the rows alphabetically but based on the "a" part, so that either the name or reversed_name will be displayed. An example output would be: Aaron Smith Abbot, Paul Adrian Jones Anita Thompson Atherton, Susan I really have no idea how to sort the array this way so any help will be much appreciated!

First, most of my recent work was Java. So even though I "know" C++, I do not want to write Java in C++. And C++ templates are one thing I will really miss when going back to Java. Now that this out of the way, if I want to do create a new stream formatter, say pic, that will have a single std::string parameter in it's constructor. I would like the user to be able to write something like: cout << pic("Date is 20../../..") << "100317" << endl; The output should be Date is 2010/03/17 How do I write the pic class? when the compiler sees the cout what are the underlying steps the compiler does?

Java2D OpenGL Hardware Acceleration Doesn't Work

It doesn't work with OpenGL with even the simplest of programs. Here is what I am doing.. java -Dsun.java2d.opengl=True -jar Java2Demo.jar (Java2Demo.jar is usually included with the JDK..) The text output is: OpenGL pipeline enabled for default config on screen 0 When I don't pass in the above VM argument things work fine (but slowly). When I do pass in the above argument nothing shows up... If I move the window around it captures whatever image it was on top of and jumbles it into nonsense. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3 (Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]) (under Parallels on OS X 10.5.8) I used "Geeks3D GPU Caps Viewer" to tell me I have Open GL version: 2.0 NVIDIA-1.5.48 I have tried this with two version of the JVM. First: java version "1.6.0_13" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.3-b02, mixed mode) and second: java version "1.6.0_20" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 16.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
