  • Server 2012 DFS New Member Issue

    I am trying to add a new member to our DFS topology. We have 3 DCs (VMs - VMware) running Windows server 2012, two servers are located in or Primary site and the third at our DR site. Currently the two servers at our primary site are currently replicating DFS (full mesh) and are working fine. I have tried several times to add the third DC to our DFS topology, every time i configure the replication path e.g E:\MSI and click ok the MMC snap in crashes. Below is the crash info, any idea what is causing this? What i am doing is fairly straight forward and don't see why this would be happening.     So, I'm trying to replicate MSDN "pseudoframes" here. Their pages are laid out like they're using an old-school frameset, but inspecting their elements with firebug reveals they've done this with purely div's. Here's my attempt at it.   • Help with understanding why UAC dialog pops up on Win7 for our application

    We have a C++ unmanaged application that appears to cause a UAC prompt. It seems to happen on Win7 and NOT on Vista Unfortunately the UAC dlg is system modal so I can't attach a debugger to check in the code where it is, and running under msdev (we're using 2008) runs in elevated mode. We put a message box at the start of our program/winmain but it doesn't even get that far, so apparently this is in the startup code. What can cause a UAC notification so early and what other things can I do to track down the cause? EDIT Apparently the manifest is an important issue here, but it seems not to be helping me - or perhaps I am not configuring the manifest file correctly. Can someone provide a sample manifest? Also, does the linker/UAC magic figure out that the program "might" write to the registry and set its UAC requirements based on that? There are code paths that might trigger UAC, but we are not even at that point when the UAC dlg comes up. An additional oddity is that this does not seem to happen on Vista with UAC turned on.     Hi, i have set up backup schedule on our server. SQL Server 2008 to 01:00am on windows server 2008 R2 to 4:00am. Sql backup runs well, but system backup ends sometimes with error.     I've installed ffmpeg successfully using the ffmpeginstaller 3 series (http://www.ffmpeginstaller.com/download). ffmpeg is working fine without any known issues with bash.     I am using outlook 2003. My email provider is Cox. Trying to change my out going port to 587 so I send mail while traveling. Others I know on Cox have done this with succes, but they are using newer version of outlook. When I go to change my existing email accounts, outlook will not allow me to change the settings. I can delete 25, but it will not allow me to type in 587. What am I doing wrong?

    I've been using one server, then I reinstalled everything on another server, and the mod_jk stopped working. Here is the situation: apache 2.0 sitting "in front" mod_jk used to connect to the apache to tomcat tomcat 6.0.26 used to server the actual requests I followed this tutorial. Is there another place where problems would be logged, if such occur? Update What I can be almost certain of is that the virtual host is not recognized. It is always forwarded to the default virtual host. So, how to make sure the virtual host is recognized and working?

Note that answering this question doesn't necessarily require any knowledge about the keyboard or rebinding the keys: I can add, for any given key, a "ShellExecute" entry, and it will simply execute the following command as if it was typed at a Command Prompt. (I'm aware I dumbed that down rather significantly, but bear with me. I'm not really a Windows guy myself.) I use the volume knob for it's intended purpose, to change volume. I would like to change, however, a different key, to "reset" the Windows volume level back to exactly 50%, or, as it refers to it, "50", on it's 0-100 scale. I'm looking for the "program" (what I would type at a command prompt? these are still just Sys32 programs in the PATH, aren't they?) that, I imagine, would take arguments, to change Sound/Volume settings under Windows 7. Perhaps, for clarification, something that might take the form "C: SetVolume -slevel 50" or something.

  • When gaming computer freezes with a blank screen and a buzzing sound

    I have a problem with random freezes when playing games. Sometimes it's fine for hours, other times it dosn't last even one. I tried googling around and I found recomendations to update my graphics drivers and to test for overheating. The graphics drivers haven't helped worked and Furmark created a consistant heat higher than I get during a crash. I even tried running a game using the Linux dual boot and WINE, that crashed too. Here are the tempreture logs leading up to the latest crash. The GPU dosn't hit 80, and I've hit 90 with no crash on firmark.     Has anyone here run Duplicity on a ReadyNAS? I'm trying but here's what I get: duplicity full --encrypt-key="ABC123" /home/jason/ scp://[email protected]//gob Invalid SSH password Running 'sftp -oServerAliveInterval=15 -oServerAliveCountMax=2 [email protected]' failed (attempt #1) I've also found this post that says the "Invalid SSH password" message doesn't actually mean invalid SSH password. This would make sense because I'm not using an SSH password; I'm using a public key. I can ssh, ftp, sftp and rsync into my ReadyNAS just fine. (Actually, to be more accurate, I can get past authentication with ssh, ftp and sftp but I can't actually do anything past that. Regardless, that's enough to tell me that "Invalid SSH password" is bogus. Rsync works with no problems.) The post I found says the command will work as soon as the directory at the end of your scp command exists, but I don't know how to check for that. I know the share gob exists on my ReadyNAS and I know it's writable because I'm writing to it with rsync.   • Why can't I create a public folder?

    I have a need to create a new Exchange public folder, as a sub folder to a folder that I'm already the owner of. When ever I try (from Outlook 2007) to create a new public folder, I'm told I don't have persmission. Outlook doesn't let me view the permissions of this folder, however it lets me view permissions of other folders that I'm owner of. Both ESM and PFDAVAdmin both report that my regular (i.e. non domain admin account) is the owner of the folder. Our set up is as follows: Exchange 2003 running on Server 2003, Windows 2008 R2 domain. Windows XP Desktop, Outlook 2007. Everything fully patched. What am I doing wrong?

  • Why am I getting blank error messages in my Apache error log?

    I am running Apache 2.2 on 64bit Windows Server 2008 Std edition with ActivePerl 5.8.9. My error log is filling up with blank error messages like these: [Wed Mar 31 14:08:31 2010] [error] [client 10.6.1.164] [Wed Mar 31 14:10:32 2010] [error] [client 10.6.1.89] [Wed Mar 31 14:13:20 2010] [error] [client 10.6.1.131] By looking in the access log I can tell that it occurs when our client machines issue a GET to a very simple Perl script. #!perl.exe use strict; no warnings; $|=1; use CGI::Carp('fatalsToBrowser'); use CGI qw(:standard); print header; my $CRLF = "\r\n<br>"; my $Port = '10116'; print "Success!${CRLF}PollInterval=5${CRLF}LMProMode${CRLF}Version=7${CRLF}ConnectionPort=$Port"; exit; The weird thing is that it does not look like this error message is inserted every time a GET to this Perl script occurs. What could cause this error message to appear in the Apache error log?

  • How to prevent samba from holding a file lock after a client disconnects?

    Here I have a Samba server (Debian 5.0) thats is configured to host Windows XP profiles. Clients connects to this server and work on their profiles directly on the samba share (the profile is not copied locally). Every now and then, a client may not shutdown properly and thus Windows does not free the file locks. When looking at the samba locking table, we can see that many files are still locked even though the client is not connected anymore. In our case, this seems to occur with lockfiles created by Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox. Here's an example of the samba locking table: # smbstatus -L | grep DENY_ALL | head -n5 Pid Uid DenyMode Access R/W Oplock SharePath Name Time -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15494 10345 DENY_ALL 0x3019f RDWR EXCLUSIVE+BATCH /home/CORP/user1 app.profile/user1.thunderbird/parent.lock Mon Nov 22 07:12:45 2010 18040 10454 DENY_ALL 0x3019f RDWR EXCLUSIVE+BATCH /home/CORP/user2 app.profile/user2.thunderbird/parent.lock Mon Nov 22 11:20:45 2010 26466 10056 DENY_ALL 0x3019f RDWR EXCLUSIVE+BATCH /home/CORP/user3 app.profile/user3.firefox/parent.lock Mon Nov 22 08:48:23 2010 We can see that the files were opened by Windows and imposed a DENY_ALL lock. Now when a client reconnects to this share and tries to open those files, samba says that they are locked and denies access. Is there any way to work around this situation or am I missing something? Edit: We would like to avoid disabling file locks on the samba server because there are good reasons to have those enabled.

    I'm trying to sign the Java JDK 1.6u21 64-bit RPM on CentOS 5.5 for use with Spacewalk and I'm running into problems. It seems to sign okay, but then when I check the signature it seems to be missing the key I just used to sign it. I have tried this with two different keys and two different users on the same machine without any success. Any bright ideas?
