Hello,
I'd like to let windows auto update enabled, but block a specific patch that causes us problems from being installed.
Is that possible? Anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks
I would like to be able to open a new Chrome window from LaunchBar, which means I have to express the action as an AppleScript or as a shell script / executable program. I tried automator, but it doesn't really work.
So - is it possible? I tried using applescript but things like "make new window at front" don't work...
We have an old VB6 application, written in the UK, which we want to run on a client's server in Canada. The application must have some hard-coded date formats in it somewhere, as it's misinterpreting dates, eg, 6th April is getting recorded as 4th June. I know I could change the user's date format, but this would affect all applications. Is it possible, perhaps with some sort of wrapper script, to set specific regional settings for this single application?
I have a problem when I am trying to send the Excel sheet or document I am working on as an email attachement.
The message I am getting is:
General Mail Failure. Quit Microsoft Excel, restart the mail system and try again.
I have checked, all possible solutions, but no luck. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Hi everyone,
I need to download the demo videos at my office so that I can view it later at home since I have slow internet connection there but it seems to be no way to download the videos at [the site][1], and other resources in this site.

I have a Logitech Headset that uses MS Supplied drivers, in this case Generic USBAudio Driver.
The sound is really choppy in a 64bit version of Win 7. 32Bit works perfectly fine.
How is it possible for me to notify MS, and get the problem fixed?
Is it possible to disable prarallel network connections on workstation, when workstation is connected to corporate LAN?
I want to avoid users bypassing Internet access policies by concurently connect to LAN and 3G/Hotspot.
We have many developers and they have local administrator rights on workstations. Developers should be able to connect virutual networks (VMware/VirutalPC/Hyper-V/VirutalBox). Other users should be able to use only one network connection concurently.
When updating apache 2.2 to apache 2.4 (for example with this package https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/apache2) all the configs are deleted. The normally used
/etc/apache2/sites-available/default
is now completely deleted, the "new" default file (000-default) has a totally different structure, so it's not even possible to recover by doing copy & paste work.
Why does this happen and how to prevent this ?
Recently, my displays have been turning blue when they wake up from sleep. This has hapeened on my Macbook and on my 2nd monitor on my PC (which I use for VM and remote desktop). It's possible that part of it might be my eyes, but seeing the blue monitor next to my other monitor on my PC has convinced me that something is probably out of place. What might that be?
What is the safest (without additional writing to the disk) way to power down computer whose deleted files you want to recover in order to boot from rescue medium?
In case of a desktop computer, plugging off the power cord looks like the most direct solution, but are there possible side-effects, apart from losing unsaved data? More problematic seems the laptop, with removing the battery being the equivalent, but is it a good idea overall?
Is there an application that allows you to add a virtualized version of your operating system into the mbr?
By virtualized, I mean that if you boot this one, any changes made in it will not be committed to the disk. Just like how deepfreeze, returnil, and shadow user works.
Is it possible to do that?
Because the applications mentioned above requires you to reboot if you want that changes will not be retained.
ive got a printer in my Active directory but its standard set to double sided printing but the problem is the printer doesnt support that so you have to switch it manualy
Ive found the setting for the user but it is automatically set to the original value if you reboot
Where can i find the setting in the active directory ?
the printer is a :HP Color LaserJet CP1510 Series PCL 6
(its possible that there is a script for this but i dont know where to look)
Hey,
Around two days ago I saw someone working on a computer and alt-tabing to different OSs. Basically he had 3 "screens", one with Fedora, one with Windows XP, one with Mac OSX. How is that possible? I dont think it was a virtual machine.... sounds friggin awesome though.
I would like to get a text dump of the screen you see when running services.msc (except the Description column). This is so I can run a diff after installing different software that adds services to this screen.
Is this possible?
If it's helpful I have access to Powershell but don't know how to retrieve this type of information from it.
If I have 1 generic RADIUS server and a number of clients (VoIP server, VPN server, WIFI access point) how to distinguish senders (NAS) of access and accounting requests?
I didn't found anything helpful by reading all related RFCs, there just NAS-IP-Addess or NAS-Identifier is required, but this attributes usually represents IP address of the NAS and this address can not be used as a robust identifier, because it's often possible to fall into the case when 2 different NASes are running on the same server and this attributes can not be customized. Any ideas?
I have an exchange server which has mailboxes that are over 68GB, I understand that the maximum size of mailboxes is only 75GB which we expect to pass in the very near future. What can I do about this?
I have another license of exchange that I could install and setup, is it possible to do this and move some mailboxes on to this and essentially give myself a 150GB limit spread across 2 servers?
Another advice or helpful links would be great
Thanks
I suspect that I have delected the kernel in my Solaris 2.6 workstation. I may have deleted /kernel by accident. Now on bootup I get the error "misc/krtld not found". I have the Solaris 2.6 installation disks. Is it possible to re-install without a reformat? Thanks for your help!
So that's the serial number of my pre-installed windows copy, I take it. But am I allowed to use it again when, say, I don't know, my system gets crippled by a sneaky virus?
If I format my computer and install windows starter again from a USB drive (speculating. I've never format before, I suppose is completely possible) Is that serial number still valid?
I'm talking about the number printed on the back of my laptop.
foobar has got two pretty simple, yet very useful features (at least for me) that iTunes seems to be lacking:
Playback follows cursor - Playback continues at the selected track
Skip silence - Those 25 minute songs, containing 20 minutes of silence and then some final brainfart that's called "hidden track"... this feature just skips the silence, plays the final bit and continues with the next song
Is it possible somehow to enable those features in iTunes?

I'm not even sure if this is possible with Outlook's current rule set but I thought I'd ask.
I'd like emails that meet certain characteristics to automatically be moved from my inbox after they are a day old.
I get a lot of notification emails that I end up having to remove the next day manually since I get new ones to replace them each day.
So a rule would be like:
If the email is from [email protected] and older then 1 day move to already read folder.
