Hello,
I'd like to let windows auto update enabled, but block a specific patch that causes us problems from being installed.
Is that possible? Anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I need to download the demo videos at my office so that I can view it later at home since I have slow internet connection there but it seems to be no way to download the videos at [the site][1], and other resources in this site.
Using some of the firefox addons to download them is not possible. Do you have any tips for me? Please share.

Hello,
My cousin just deleted his Linux partition and another smaller partitio nand now Windows is not booting, no he does not have the recovery disc. When Windows tries to boot it goes to "GRUB" and says "partition not loaded". What are some GRUB commands? And is it possible to fix this without using the recovery CD? Thank you in advance.
I really hate the feature in Windows 7, that it verifies before copying any files whether the files fit to the destination drive. I have a pretty old MP3 player and I want to just select n songs and drag & drop them to the player, and copy as many files of the selection as possible. Windows 7 refuses to copy any of the files if all of them don't fit to the destination drive.
How can I disable this annoying behaviour?
I left some files opened in gVim, and hibernated my machine.
Unfortunately, there was some error, and I lost my gVim session.
Is it possible to do like modern browsers nowadays (like Firefox), that after "crashing" (not exiting in normal ways), showing a "Restore last session" dialog in my gVim?
I have a 150gb local disk on my Windows 7 x64 ultimate computer,
i recently bought another 150gb hard drive and wish to merge/combine the 2 together to form 1 300gb hard drive.
Is this possible to do without losing all the data on it?
And i have thought about SATA but was curious if there was a faster easier option before i go ahead and take my pc apart
Hi, I've seen many threads on how to move an entire media collection from one machine to another.
I want to organize my mp3 directories, but any copied file loses its reference from itunes library, thus, when I add it to itunes again, it'll have no rating data.
I guess it's possible if I manipulate the itunes xml database, but I really don't want to mess with it "by hand".
How do you install any visualizer other than the default visualizer that ships with iTunes 10 in Windows 7. I've tried placing qtz files in my C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins folder and restarting iTunes, but of course no other visualizers can be selected.
Common visualizers that I would like to install include those found here
I'm of course aware that some of these are Mac OS only due to library dependencies - I would still like to know if it's possible to install any visualizer other than the default for iTunes in Windows 7
I thought I had a good understanding of how permissions worked on linux.
I have folder where it and everything inside has the owner "me" and the group "group". I gave the group rwx access on all the files and still members of the group cannot modify permissions on any files.
I'm using Redhat Enterprise Linux 5
Is it possible to allow group members to modify permissions on file and not just the owner? How?
Thanks in advance
Is it possible to set up a distro list on an exchange server to have certain members (or all) invisible to people sending email to the distro?
For example: I'd like to have a distro go to Help, Support, and IT. However, I don't want the sender to know it goes to Help if they expand the distro in the To: field.
I know this is most likely impossible, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Given a user-selected Range, what is the simplest way to determine the starting row number, and ending row number?
Range.Address returns a string containing any number of possible formats. There has to be something simpler.
Desired:
Dim oRange As Range
Dim startRow As Integer
Dim endRow As Integer
oRange = Range("A1:X50")
startRow = oRange.Address.StartRow
endRow = oRange.Address.EndRow
of course, those properties do not exist.
I want to do the same to return column letters.
Rationale:
I want to manage libraries of media files (music, images) using git, there is git-annex but it requires haskel platform - but they do not play together well (also it's quite to big dependency for me).
Question:
Is there any other plugin with this functionality, or possibly would it be possible to write such plugin (resources?).

I have set up a windows 2008 R2 server to route email from Exchange 2010 using SMTP Server in IIS.
I have 3 seperate domains and would like to route each one through a different internal and external IP for (IP Reputation etc), at the minute it is only using the primary IP on the server to route email externally.
Is this at all possible using SMTP Server in IIS, or is there any other software available to do this?
I have a laptop with a busted l.c.d., but otherwise works fine with an external monitor. I was wondering if it is possible to connect it to my main pc as an extra processor(main pc is getting old, it's only single core processor) and if so how? I currently have them connected with a network cable so that I can access the laptop's hard drive but would like to use it to give my pc a bit more power. Both my pc and my laptop have 2 gb ram and are running windows vista sp2
Is it possible to make salt require that a particular file was appended to as opposed to the file merely existing?
It seems like I can only require a file state. The source looks like it strips out any method names from a require attribute.
In the example below, I only want the foo service to run if my lines have been appended to /etc/security/limits.conf.
file.append:
- name: /etc/security/limits.conf
- text:
- root hard nofile 65535
- root soft nofile 65535
foo:
service.running:
- enable: True
- require:
- file.append: /etc/security/limits.conf
Hi, Windows 7 is a great OS but there are some problems which should be solved from Microsoft as fast as possible. On my Computer the LAN connection randomly loses its connection. I don't know why but I think this problem depends on my network driver which is only available for Windows XP (where it always worked perfectly).
I can not reproduce this issue. Has anybody here had the same problem?
I am pretty sure that the latest Ubuntu release does not support my wireless internet card. Everything was working fine in 9.04 and since upgrading my browser will load web pages. I can see and connect to my wep encrypted network. I can ping google.com and lose no packets.
I am at the end of my tether, what else can I try? Is it possible to download a driver to re-enable my wireless?
I have two DVDs and if I open the DVDs and copy the content to the HDD and compare the respective files on the HDD it shows no difference. As I know DVD does also have some additional content (this content includes information saying if the DVD is bootable and some formating information I guess).
How can I check also this additional content?
Is it somehow possible without additional programs, using Windows or Ubuntu?
I am looking to move a file share (100 GB or so) from one domain/server to a new domain and server. I would like to do this with little to no downtime and if possible I would like to be able to map permissions from the groups/users in the current system to groups/users in the new domain.
A side question, a large number of the files in the system are office documents with hard links to the old file server. Any way to programmatically change all those links to the new file server?
We have an old VB6 application, written in the UK, which we want to run on a client's server in Canada. The application must have some hard-coded date formats in it somewhere, as it's misinterpreting dates, eg, 6th April is getting recorded as 4th June. I know I could change the user's date format, but this would affect all applications. Is it possible, perhaps with some sort of wrapper script, to set specific regional settings for this single application?
I have two different sites:
NetA has a subnet 192.168.2.0/24
NetB has 192.168.1.0/24.
The two sites connect each other via IPsec VPN with fortigate devices. I need to move a server with IP address 192.168.2.240 from NetA to NetB and I cannot change its IP address due to some specific reasons.
My question is; if I move that server from NetA to NetB, is it possible to reach that server from NetA?
I want to have a script that does the following thing:
connect to a remote windows machine
get the list of applications that are currently open on the machine, e.g exactly what I would get in the "applications" tab in the task manager, and print it.
Is it possible to do that in batch?
If not, what other options do I have?
I want to run a guest operating system under a Linux host with VirtualBox, but I don't want to run from within X. I don't want a headless configuration, I don't want to run VirtualBox in the background, I don't want any remote protocols. I just want the guest OS to take control of my console (keyboard, mouse and monitor) and render to the framebuffer directly, not from within an X window.
Is this possible?
Hello.
I want to restrict access to certain directories to my ssh users but allow them to read files by known path from there(mostly it's meant to be done by applications). How is that possible? Are there easy ways? Thank you.
