• How to build sqlite for Python 2.4?

  I would like to use pysqlite interface between Python and sdlite database. I have already Python and SQLite on my computer. But I have troubles with installation of pysqlite. During the installation I get the following error message: error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 As far as I understood the problems appears because version of my Python is 2.4.3 and SQLite is integrated in Python since 2.5. However, I also found out that it IS possible to build sqlite for Python 2.4 (using some tricks, probably). Does anybody know how to build sqlite for Python 2.4? As another option I could try to install higher version of Python. However I do not have root privileges. Does anybody know what will be the easiest way to solve the problem (build SQLite fro Python 2.4, or install newer version of Python)? I have to mention that I would not like to overwrite the old version version of Python. Thank you in advance.

  I'd like to make a Python package containing some Cython code. I've got the the Cython code working nicely. However, now I want to know how best to package it. For most people who just want to install the package, I'd like to include the .c file that Cython creates, and arrange for setup.py to compile that to produce the module. Then the user doesn't need Cython installed in order to install the package. But for people who may want to modify the package, I'd also like to provide the Cython .pyx files, and somehow also allow for setup.py to build them using Cython (so those users would need Cython installed). How should I structure the files in the package to cater for both these scenarios? The Cython documentation gives a little guidance. But it doesn't say how to make a single setup.py that handles both the with/without Cython cases.

• Web setup project removes files after upgrade from VS2008 to VS2010

  I have a web setup project built using VS2008. I've converted my solution to VS2010 and now when I build my new installer and run the install from the MSI it installs fine, then at the last step, removes all the files it's just installed. I have RemovePreviousVersions set to true. If I turn this off the files remain in place (but I get multiple instances in the Programs and Features in the control panel). If I run the install again, the files reappear. From then on, the files always remain, even when installing another version. So, the problem seems to be with running an installer built using VS2008 and then running the same installer built by VS2010. The upgrade GUIDs on each installer are the same. What is the cause and how can I fix this?

This seems to deal with InstallUtilLib.dll, however I can't work out how I call the custom action within my main Windows app executable. Also, is there some method that I can use to manually invoke and test the OnBeforeUninstall function is working as expected? • Why am I getting 404 in Django?

  After installing this python Django module: http://code.google.com/p/django-compress/wiki/Installation I am getting 404's in my media static files. This Django module is supposed to "compress" the javascript/css files. That's why I'm getting 404 I guess. The problem is, I don't want this anymore. And when I installed this program, I did "python setup.py install" How do I install it? I just want to revert it back to normal so I don't get any 404 errors.

I could install httperf by the command sudo apt-get install httperf I thought I should be installing autobench in the same way using apt-get. But the package was not found.   I have created a WinForm app (VB.NET 2008) that references to a webservice which was added via "Add Service Reference". The app works ok. Question is about distribution of the app. It looks like I need to install the app's config file with the EXE, however I don't want that because the config files shows the actual url of the web service which is not whatt I want. So, is it possible to use a webservice in a WinForm app and only have to install the resulting EXE?

The java client appears to be creating the service fine but when I call a method on the service the client just spins. • How do I upgrade my MacPorts Perl installation?

  I have installed MacPorts in my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. I hadn't explicitly installed perl there but I guess it either came installed with the default macports install or was installed as a dependency by any other port I installed. I want to upgrade the Perl v5.8.9 there with the latest stable Perl version. Whichever it may be currently (I see it is 5.12.2). So, my question is simply how do I do a complete replacement of the old Perl with the new in macports. Will sudo port upgrade perl5 work or do I need to do something else as well. I just wanted to make sure this was the right command so as to avoid screwing up my macports install.

  I have rvm installed on a Mac OS X 10.6 system with the system ruby and 1.9.1. I also have this basic ruby script: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'curb-fu' I need the script to use the system ruby regardless of what rvm's using at any given time; I'm assuming that I've got that right, at least. I've switched to the system ruby (rvm use system) and then installed the gem (gem install curb-fu). If I run irb and type require 'curb-fu', it works. However, running that script with ./myscript.rb fails: /Users/me/bin/podcast_notify.rb:6:in `require': no such file to load -- curb-fu (LoadError) from /Users/me/bin/podcast_notify.rb:6 What's going wrong here? How do I install curb-fu so that it's always available to this script?

  I am developing an app for Nokia 5800 Music Express (S60 5th edition) using PyS60 (Python for S60) ,I want to simulate a KeyPress say if a message comes,I detect a message and Press a Key. There does exist a Keypress module for PyS60 for 2nd edition phones which allows this. However I have not been able to install it on my 5th ed phone. Is this module portable? If yes then how do I install it (I get certificate error) and If no then any alternatives for simulating a key press on a 5th edition touch phone?

• PostGIS - can't create spatially-enabled database

  I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, PostgreSQL 9.0 and PostGIS 1.5. I've installed PostGIS 1.5 from: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntugis/+archive/ubuntugis-unstable I used PPA first then the command: sudo apt-get install postgis to install postgis. I've been following these instructions to create a spatially-enabled database: http://ostgis.refractions.net/docs/ch02.html#id2630100 I got to the point where it's saying: Now load the PostGIS object and function definitions into your database by loading the postgis.sql definitions file (located in [prefix]/share/contrib as specified during the configuration step). psql -d [yourdatabase] -f postgis.sql Well, there is no postgis.sql on my server after the installation. I did an sudo updatedb to make sure I can find postgis.sql but it's not there. Any ideas? Thank you!

  After I did brew update and brew upgrade, my postgres got some problem. I tried to uninstall postgres and install again, but it didn't work as well. How can I solve it?   I've been bashing my head against this one for a few days, and haven't had any luck with it. I'm unable to get my VS2010 ASP.NET project to deploy to IIS. I receive the error "Unable to create the virtual directory. To access local IIS Web sites, you must install the following IIS Components IIS 6 Metabase and IIS 6 Configuration Compatibility ASP.NET In addition, you must run Visual Studio in the context of an Administrator Account" I've most certainly installed the metabase option, but it still shows up. I'm also not sure why it's telling me to install ASP.NET. Google is being entirely unhelpful, I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64Bit

  hi I have a joomla project. In this the text editor is tiny mace. But there is no option to upload a pdf file. So I want to implement Ck editor or fck editor instead of tiny mce. I have downloaded ck editor and install as usual way (admin side -extension-install- uninstall section) and disabled the tiny mce in Plugin Manager. But I can't show the editor; I think I am in wrong way. Does any one have any idea? Please help me.

  Install Shield Premier 2009: Basic MSI Project I have a dll that is supposed to be removed during uninstall. But this dll is being used by explorer.exe, it is used for generating windows explorer context menus with their icons(same as the menu items, icons we see when we right click on any file/folder and see the WinRAR items, icons). Manually, I have to unregister the dll and close explorer.exe from task manager and again run explorer.exe. Then I can delete the dll. So from Install Shield how to delete this dll without any problem(as we see while uninstalling WinRAR or other software there is no problem no message boxes shown and the related context menu icons also removed).

  Greetings all, I have this application which uses Tomcat and PostgreSQL (only involve database reads, no writes). I need to make this application runnable from a DVD.(target platform is Windows). So I was thinking to do these: 1) In a VirtualMachine (i prefer virtualbox) install lightweight linux distro. 2) Install Tomcat and Postgre, 3) Write virtualmachine into DVD which loads above virtualmachine image automatically when executed. But I am not quite sure whether I can do step 3.Or is it possible ? Any tips?
