• Javascript calling JSF handler method

  Hi All, I am reading an xml file using javascript and then I need to submit my form so that it calls a particular method in my JSF handler. Usually this can be done on a jsp when user clicks a button by having an actionlistener like so: <h:commandLink styleClass="button" action="#{myHandler.outcome}" actionListener="#{myHandler.doNext}"> <span><h:outputText value="#{text.button_submit}" /></span> </h:commandLink> I am not sure how to call a method like 'doNext' above in the handler from javascript. I cannot do a simple: document.form.submit(); as it then repeats the processing i have already done. I want to read values from an xml file and then call a particular method in handler. Any ideas much appreciated.

Also the blog post of marekdec How to get maven archetype to generate empty directories fails for me. The trick within the archetype.xml with the trailing / doesnt works for me: <resources> <resource>src/main/webapp/</resource> Unable to find resource 'archetype-resources/src/main/webapp/' Also the fileSet directory in archetype-metadata.xml does not work for me: <fileSet filtered="true" encoding="UTF-8"> <directory>src/main/webapp/</directory> </fileSet> Is there any other solution? • create text inside a rectangle using inkscape

  I've put some text inside a rectangle using inkscape so the tree is like <svg:rect><svg:text><svg:tspan>text.... The problem is, I can't see the text. I've tried fiddling with the opacity of the rect to no avail. There should be a way of doing this from the UI?   When I run maven install on my multi module maven project I always get the following output: [WARNING] File encoding has not been set, using platform encoding UTF-8, i.e. build is platform dependent! So, I googled around a bit, but all I can find is that I have to add <properties> <project.build.sourceEncoding>UTF-8</project.build.sourceEncoding> </properties> to my pom.xml. But it's already there (in the parent pom.xml). Configuring <encoding> for the maven-resources-plugin or the maven-compiler-plugin also doesn't fix it. So what's the problem?

If I click on the EditText, then I see the soft keyboard. Do I need to set aditional parameters to display soft keyboard when my Activity starts? Thanks

  Hi All; Due to Apple's recent T+C hijinks, I've become interested in developing for Android. Anyways, I'm trying to get a mixed-language Android 2.1 project going in Netbeans 6.8 (with the NBAndroid 0.10 plugin). The two languages being Java and Scala(2.8 head build). To give you a basic idea of what the app does right now, it's just a simple "Hello World" app. To get this to build, I've modified the projects's build.xml file: -- -injars ${scala-library}(!META-INF/MANIFEST.MF,!library.properties) -outjars "${build.classes.dir}/classes.min.jar" -libraryjars "${file.reference.android.jar}" -dontwarn -dontoptimize -dontobfuscate -keep public class * extends android.app.Activity -keep public class scala.xml.include.sax.Main** I've gotten the project so that it'll build, but it errors on startup in my Android Emulator(inside the emulator Android tells me my application has stopped unexpectedly). So my questions are: Does anyone see what I may be doing wrong? And is there any way to get access to the logs that the emulator must create? thanks Mike Kohout

  Hello, I'm currently building a new online Feed Reader in PHP. One of the features i'm working on is feed auto-discovery. If a user enters a website URL, the script will detect that its not a feed and look for the real feed URL by parsing the HTML for the proper tag. The problem is, the way im currently detecting if the URL is a feed or a website only works part of the time, and I know it can't be the best solution. Right now im taking the CURL response and running it through simplexml_load_string, if it can't parse it I treat it as a website. Here is the code. $xml = @simplexml_load_string( $site_found['content'] ); if( !$xml ) // this is a website, not a feed { // handle website } else { // parse feed } Obviously, this isn't ideal. Also, when it runs into an HTML website that it can parse, it thinks its a feed. Any suggestions on a good way of detecting the difference between a feed or non-feed in PHP?   Hi, I need some help with vocabulary, I don't use Oracle that often but I am familiar with MySQL and MSSQL. I have an application I need to upgrade and migrate, and part of the procedure to do that involves exporting to an XML, create new database tables, then populate the new database tables from the XML export. In Oracle, my database connection specifies a username, password, and an SID. This SID contains tables belonging to several applications. My question is: Can I re-use the same user to create the new tables ( with the same names ). In MySQL or MSSQL, I would create a new database and grant my user privileges to create tables in it. OR, do I need to create a new database user for my upgraded tables?

• Generated Word 2007 prints scrunched up

  Our website generates Word 2007 documents from database data by creating the xml, zipping it and sending it as a MIME attachment. Usually, this works fine. On occasion, the document will look fine on the screen, but not when printed. The letters end up scrunched together. Here is an example. This is a 1 page document, the first page is a scan of the document printed correctly, the 2nd page is a scan of the same document printed with the problem. Here is the original document. Has anyone ever seen anything similar? I cannot figure out if this is a bug in the code that generates our XML, a bug in the printer driver or a bug in Word. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please note that this document does not contain any real data other than public information, but disregard the contents - this is not an official document, and only meant to illustrate our problem.

My problem is, if i put image file under src/main/webapp/images then application server cannot find that path on runtime(where myeclipse can ) because war archive do not have specified path "src/main/webapp/images". My question is where should i put the image file that my project can find it without prompting any error or exception. • Gallery items become off-center when switching into landscape orientation.

I'm writing an application for android 2.2 and I'm using a gallery to circulate through a list of images that the user can then click to navigate other portions of the application. In portrait orientation, everything is kosher: the images are displaying correctly (completely in the center of the screen as I intended); however, in landscape orientation, all the images in the gallery are strangely displaced a fixed distance to the left of the center of the screen. I've been researching this issue for hours now and haven't found a solution. I'm hoping that some android guru can aid me in the resolution of this bizarre rendering issue. • Consuming Web Services requiring Authentication from behind Proxy server

  Hi All, I've seen a number of post about Proxy Authentication, but none that seams to address this problem. I'm building a SharePoint Web Service consuming desktop application, using Java, JAX-WS in NetBeans. I have a working prototype, that can query the server for authentication mode, successfully authenticate and retrieve a list of web site. However, if I run the same app from a network that is behind a proxy server (the proxy does not require authentication), then I'm running into trouble. The normal -dhttp.proxyHost ... settings does not seam to help any. But I have found that by creating a ProxySelector class and setting it as default, I can regain access to the authentication web service, but I still can't retrieve the list of web sites from the SharePoint server. It's almost as if the authentication I provide is going to the proxy rather than the SharePoint server. Anyone have any experience on how to make this work? • Storing index values in FAST-ESP without modifications

  Hi, first of all I'm totally new to FAST but I already have a couple of issues I need to solve, so I'm sorry if my questions are very basic =) Well, the problem is that I have a field in the FAST index which in the source document is something like "ABC 12345" (please note the intentional whitespaces) but when stored in the index is in the form "ABC 123456" (please note that now there is a single space). If I retrieve all the document values then this specific value is OK (with all the whitespaces), my only problem is with the way the value is stored in the index since I need to retrieve and display it to my user just like it appears in the original document, and I don't want to go to the full document just for this value, I want the value that I already have in the index. I think I need to update one of the FAST XML configuration files but I don't have enough documentation at hand in order to decide where to perform the change, index_profile.xml? in the XMLMapper file?

• What is the best way to post data from web browser to server?

  Hi, I want to know what is the best way to send data from web browser to server using post method. I've seen a practice where they wrap all the elements data in XML, convert it into Base64 string and then post it to the server (via Ajax or hidden field). this way will not work if the Javascript is disabled, any how if I ignored this. is it a good practice to wrap elements into XML (or create my custom wrapper in general) and post them to server saying it will enhance the maintainability of the code or just stick with the classical way and no need to add unnecessary text in the post.

  Hi, I have created a XML image gallery, which displays text in between each slide. Now I have created a movie clip with a dynamic text field (with Render HTML selected) to display the text from the XML which is pushed into an array. Now, this all works great BUT... /n or /r is not creating a new line break (as they need to be custom). Yet if I create an Array and manually push strings "Bla bla bla /n bla bla bla" I get a line break. I have tried converting the Array item to string (even though it already is), I would also avoid creating textField = new textField() any Ideas would be welcomed. Cheers
