• How can I easily get a TextReader from an XDocument?

  Given an XDocument instance, how can I easily get a TextReader that represents that instance? The best I've been able to come up with is something like this (where xml is an XDocument instance): var s = new MemoryStream(); var sw = new StreamWriter(s); xml.Save(sw); sw.Flush(); s.Position = 0; TextReader tr = new StreamReader(s); However, this seems a little clunky, so I was wondering if there's an easier way?

• Jersey message body reader not found in maven-built JAR

  My application uses a REST (JAX-RS Jersey) interface. When I run it in Eclipse, everything' s fine. The domain objects are annotated, I'm not using XML files for the REST mapping. Now I created a standalone JAR using the maven-assembly-plugin, which packs the application and all dependencies in a single, executable JAR file. This also seems to work. But when I start the application and request an object from the server, Jersey complains, that it can't find a message body reader: com.sun.jersey.api.client.ClientHandlerException: A message body reader for Java type, class de.rybu.atuin.core.entity.User, and MIME media type, application/json, was not found Any ideas why this happens? EDIT: After I slept a night over it, I noticed that it complains about JSON... but I'm using only XML for serialization. Strange.

• simple blog engine for website

  I know that there's a lot of free open source blog engine out there such as BlogEngine.NET. However that's an overkill for my purpose... I so far has created my own simple one by storing posts in a .xml file and so every time the main page loads it reads from all those xml files and displays it as posts. Now my problem is when a user clicks on a post title I want it to show on a new page(.aspx), so if the title is X then I want a new page called X.aspx when the user clicks on the title on the homepage. I hope this makes sense. My question is how do I create such thing?

• TFS 2008 Build Script

  In TFS 2008, I am trying to modify a build script (TFSBuild.proj). I get the following warning: The element 'PropertyGroup' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003' has invalid child element 'TeamProject' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003'. Which is correct, The element PropertyGroup does indeed have a child called TeamProject. I’m making an assumption that this is caused because of the following line: <Project DefaultTargets="DesktopBuild" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" ToolsVersion="3.5"> The Xml Namespace doesn’t appear to exist as far as I can tell, although it looks like a standard one. Please can anyone tell me if this is a standard XML namespace, how or where I can view its contents and whether the warning that I am seeing may be caused by it?

  I've been mandated to write an application to migrate the Active Directory access models to another environment. Here's the context: I'm stuck with VB.NET 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0; The application must use the Windows authenticated user to manage AD; The objects I have to handle are Groups, Users and OrganizationalUnits; I intend to use the Façade design pattern to provider ease of use and a fully reusable code; I plan to write a factory for each of the objects managed (group, ou, user); The use of Attributes should be useful here, I guess; As everything is about the DirectoryEntry class when accessing the AD, it seems a good candidate for generic types. Obligatory features: User creates new OUs manually; User creates new group manually; User creates new user (these users are services accounts) manually; Application reads an XML file which contains the OUs, groups and users to create; Application informs the user about the OUs, groups and users that shall be created; User specifies the domain environment where to migrate the XML input file designated objects; User makes changes if needed, and launches the task operations; Application performs required by the XML input file operations against the underlying AD as specified by the user; Application informs the user upon completion. Linear features: User fetches OUs, groups, users; User changes OUs, groups, users; User deletes OUs, groups, users; The application logs AD entries and operations performed, plus errors and exceptions; Nice-to-have features: Application rollbacks operations on error or exception. I've been working for weeks now to get acquainted with the AD and the System.DirectoryServices assembly. • Ivy: Publishing all artefacts in a directory

  I'm looking to move to Apache Ivy for dependency management on one of our existing projects. The project publishes many artefacts, and the artefacts it produces are likely to change in the future, so I don't want to enumerate all of the publications in the ivy.xml file -- I'd like Ivy to just publish all the files in a given directory. I considered auto-generating a list of the files built and using XSLT to insert it into the ivy.xml, but that seems a little cumbersome for what I'd expect to be a reasonably common requirement. Is there a better way to do this? Can Ivy pick up all the files in a directory and ignore the publications in the Ivy file? Or is there some way to get Ivy to use different files for publication and for fetching, so I can avoid having to use XSLT to merge the files.

  I'm trying to create my first custom Google Gadget to be used privately in my company's Google Sites intranet. Ideally I'd like to just show a thumbnail that the user can click that will open a modal window with the full video. This requires my including a couple of small JS libraries in my widget. For my widget I created this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Module> <ModulePrefs title="Video Demos" /> <Content view="url" href="http://www.website.com/_gadgets/video.php"> </Content> </Module> The "video.php" page has simple HTML on it and includes two JS files for the modal window using but doesn't work. Are you not able to include external scripts like this? If not, what are my options here?

  When you createa a PreferenceScreen on Android, your application creates a default SharedPreferences file for the settings. I want to read this name, or get a reference without specifing the name. Currently I use: SharedPreferences prefs = ctx.getSharedPreferences("prefs", 0); SharedPreferences.Editor ed=prefs.edit(); But this returns another copy of the preference. When I checked the folder in /data/data/myapk/shared_prefs I see two files, one named prefs.xml and the other is my [package name]_preferences.xml (this was created by the PreferenceActivity); How do I get an instance of the shared preference with the usage of the default file name, so I should not mention a name for it?

• XSLT: Is there a way to "inherit" canned functionality?

  i am once again having to cobble together a bit of XSLT into order to turn generated XML into (rather than simply generating HTML). i'm having huge deja-vu this time again. i'm once again having to solve again basic problems, e.g.: how to convert characters into valid html entity references how to preserve whitespace/carriage returns when converting to html how to convert to HTML as opposed to xhtml how to convert dates from xml format into presentable format how to tear apart strings with substring This is all stuff that i've solved many times before. But every time i come back to XSLT i have to start from scratch, re-inventing the wheel every time. If it were a programming language i would have a library of canned functions and procedures i can call. i would have subroutines to perform the commonly repeated tasks. i would inherit from a base class that already implements the ugly boilerplate stuff. Is there any way in XSLT to grow, expand and improve the ecosystem with canned code?

  I'm trying to install a JBI component inside ServiceMix 4.3 from a Java class. This JBIComponent is packed as .jar. I wanted to know if the jbi.xml descriptor is mandatory in .jar package like in .zip. I searched a lot of info and I'm not quite sure but as it looks like for the java classes that install the component is necessary this descriptor but when my maven project creates two files, one .zip and one .jar. The zip one has a jbi.xml descriptor inside META-INF. • XSLT transformations in Ruby and JRuby

  Simple question: are there any solid XSLT libraries that work in both Ruby and JRuby? REXML works in both, but does not have XSLT support. ruby-xslt doesn't work in JRuby. The latest Nokogiri betas do support JRuby, but the support is still buggy and throws occasional NullPointerExceptions for XML input that works fine in Ruby. (In particular, any transforms that don't result in valid XML cause it to barf, even if xsl:output is set to 'text'!) JXslt is just a wrapper for Java's Xalan/Saxon and doesn't work in Ruby. Please tell me I'm missing something?

• Problem with WiX major upgrade!

  Okay, my last question on this journey of WiX upgrades managed to get my settings file to be preserved! However, There is another component that is being preserved that I don't want to! I need it to overwrite, and it's not. The component "Settings" now works, with the NeverOverwrite="yes", and a KeyPath="yes". However, the component immediately below it does not work! It needs to overwrite both the MDF and the LDF with new ones from the install! I've tried lots of stuff, and am stumped. Please and thank you! • Flex Dataprovider caching issue.

  I have two combobox controls. If i change combobox A then I am reading from xml and populating combobox B. The xml is loaded into memory in Application's creationComplete method. When I select values in combobox A and then open combobox B, I am seeing the values correctly, but when I deploy it on the server in a different machine (which is in a different subdomain), then my combobox B values are not cleared and are retained by old selection, when I select the combobox B, then it is getting refreshed. I am making the dataprovider = null for combobox b, and when I am assigning new collection then i am refreshing the arraycollection as well. But still the problem is not solved.

  I've tried searching but couldn't come up with a defined way on how to add your own packages to a GWT project.   Hi, I have a configuration file with a lot of data like sensor locations, type, rules for activating devices etc. Basically related to a pervasive system. I plan to design an ontology for this domain. The doubt in my mind is how should I populate the ontology with the information in the configuration file, as the configuration files are going to change every now and then. Earlier I was planning to use XML, so I can just read the configuration file at runtime and create an XML as per the XSD. Do we use the same technique for Ontologies?
